I take Levothyroxine and Cytomel. With the porccines, you don't know how much of each you're getting, and my doctor wants me on specific amounts. I take 125 mcg Levothyroxine and 5 mcg Cytomel twice daily.

My doctor prescribed NT a few months ago not knowing it was not being manufactured. I switched back to Armour brand. WP, NT and Armour is T-4 and T-3 medication.

Did you ask if they have other NT strengths in stock? Sometimes my end prescribes two different strengths that equals the one she wants me to take. I know several thyroid patients that take more than one tablet upon waking. I am one of them.

Here is information about which NT strengths were shipped in May 2018:

Armour (brand) would be another choice. Ask your doctor to check off brand since there is a generic that thyroid patients complained does not work.

Another choice would be to take Synthroid with Cytomel. Synthroid is T4 med. Cytomel is T-3 medication. I have been on this combo too.

NT or Armour needs to be taken on empty stomach will full glass of water upon waking. No eating or coffee drinking for 30-60 minutes after taking the medication. I feel best waiting 60 minutes. No coffee until after eating breakfast. No vitamins supplements until 4 hours after taking medication. Do not take Armour/NT before blood test since your T-3 will be high. Wait until after blood test to take this medication.

Good luck!

Iíve been on Synthroid 112 for 10 years and my Free T3 has always been low. I finally found a doctor who understands that I need T3 and suggested I switch to Naturethroid 1.25 grain. Iíve called around to different pharmacies and none of them have it in stock and are unable to get this dose. Any advice on what I should do? What would be a good alternative to Naturethoid?
