Hi redflynn,

I've
Not been on that diet before.

What I found works for me at this stage of my life (menopausal, diagnosed with Hashimotos in 2007), is a Whole Food Plant Based diet.

My cholesterol plummeted without having to use statins, in addition to losing the weight.
Also lost that feeling of my heart being squeezed.
You may want to give it a try if this medically supervised weight loss doesn't work for you.
Dr Greger has a variety of wonderful videos and two "How Not To Die" books out now. One is a recipe book.

Hi. It isn't a liquid diet. Its protein supplement drinks with real food. Mostly vegetables and lean protein. No dairy, gluten or refined sugar. Pretty easy to follow so far, since I am not a sweet tooth. Giving up cheese has been a struggle though. Lost 10 lbs so far so I am being optimistic. Just trying to figure out if it is realistic to think I may ever be a healthy weight again with hashi.

emoticon I also have Hashimoto and struggle. I am not losing my hair as I did and I think it is because I am getting a supplement for the thyroid. I have been on Synthroid most of the time since I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and before I got hashi.

I have not suggestions other than checking some of the back blogs and Topics that Mzzchief wrote. She is one of our leaders but has not been very active this past year or so. I have found that the information she gave was good.

emoticon and emoticon to the group. I am hashi on 150 mg of Armour daily. My weight has increased too. I never heard of the program you mentioned, but have tried high protein, low carb, veggie, AIP, etc diets along with exercise. I lose 5 lbs only to gain it back.

If Ideal Protein is liquid diet, I know thyroid patients that did well on liquid diet, and gained the weight back when they began eating regular food.

My 50 years experience has been that only optional thyroid function eliminates hair loss.

Good luck.

Hi all. I am new to this website. I am hashimoto on armour 45 daily and have watched the scale creep up over the years. Diets and exercise have not been able to control this so I have started a medically supervised weight loss program (Ideal Protein). Was wondering if there are any other hashi people out there who have done this, if it is sustainable in the long run and if it has had any affect on your meds or symptoms. Also, did it help anyone with the hair loss.
