Starting-Anew, isn't God wonderful. I am so thankful you shared how he intervened.

Laura, I am so sorry you and Jenny are struggling so as this time. I continue to pray for you in that things will brighten up soon.

As for me it seems like I have been starting over a lot lately when it comes to losing weight and sticking with the program that I set for myself.
Yesterday, I got my new book from Dr. Marlene on-line called The Blood Pressure solution.
I quit taking blood pressure meds 5 days ago and started feeling much better. The meds that I had been taken I believe was the main culprit in having no energy. After I read what Dr Marlene said about the ones I was on could have awful side affects and even lead to death for some, I agreed totally.
I am trying some all natural meds called Heartzest for optimal vascular health and Cardiovascualr support. I just started on these today and look forward to see if they do what they claim. One never knows......

Starting Anew so glad to hear that your daughter's job is safe.

CROUCHINGFLEA I looked ar the recipe and the calories are over the top. I would have to cut down on the filling in order to eat it. Looks good though and don't need specialty brand when you can find other brands in the store.

I was shopping today; found out my money is lower than I thought. Will have to scrimp this month now. I bought meat at a grocery for 5 packs for 25 dollars. It was chicken and pork. You cannot beat that price anywhere. We also have plenty of beans to use as well as rice both from the food pantry. I also bought some tuna on sale to make tuna salad too. We have another package of pulled barbecued pork in the freezer from the food pantry too.

It is just so frustrating though that I cannot get my debt cleared up on what I am getting. We are on our last month of extra money from food stamps. They are after my DD to go back to doing the stupid paperwork and job hunting again online. She cannot go back it almost killed her! Her blood pressure went up as did her blood sugar. She had to be put on a blood sugar pill and aq pill for tremors and her headaches came back too. Three hours every day she had to do this and to no avail; she was never hired. She had an interview at one place but never got called; even though the supervisor was impressed with her the hiring person sent her a letter saying they found a better candidate. She cannot drive and she is very obese and has other problems which makes it hard for her to stand in one place for long periods of time. Now with the stupid mayor and the water people our water bill might go sky high. Please pray that God intervenes and works things out for us.

I tried the baked apple recipe, took longer to bake and my apple busted open at a few spots. I didn't have all the ingredients, so I just used raisins and pecans with regular, not vanilla, almond butter. YUM!! Here is the main recipe:

www.makingthymeforhealth.com
/almond-bu
tter-baked-apples/

I did add a small drizzle of real maple syrup before cooking and that almost made it too sweet.

Well, off to do some research , hope you all have a great day!

And STARTING-ANEW, so glad for your DD! God is amazing!!

Barb It sounds like you got a good workout in anyway. It is just that I have a bad shoulder I cannot raise above my head and i need my neck fixed now. I have a yoga DVD from Beach Body I do when my body lets me.

Renee Jenny is only mildly sensitive to gluten stuff. So we just cut out mostly white flour; cannot afford the others.

Karri your DH is really nice to do that. Right now I cannot do it; although Aldis has almond butter too.

Had a good day; i walked outside for 82 minutes then I did 20 minutes of low impact aerobics with Jessica and 30 minutes of circuit training with Denise Austin.

Laura - I am sorry you don't have the strength and such to take care of your yard. Thankfully my friend Bob mows my lawn, but I do pretty much everything else since I can't afford to hire it done. It is definitely challenging thought.

I had a marvelous Monday. Marv and I got in a 26 minute, getting caught in the rain so had to end it a bit early. Went to yoga which was a great practice. After lunch I got my hair cut and cleaned Marv's kennel and washed his bedding. I also worked on my birthday cards for church friends, making progress. Had a healthy eating day.

Hi y'all,
I've been sick all last week, but a functional sick... still went to work feeling yucky, but never had fever, thank goodness. and feeling better today.

All we use is almond flour or coconut flour. My hubby has been diagnosed with Celiac Disease and so we are a gluten free home now, no choice.

Laura, my DH splurged and bought me some Bob's Mill Almond flour for some Paleo brownies. They are not very sweet at ALL, but they are very chocolate flavored, so it curbs that craving. I love brownies, and when I was really depressed DH would make me a huge thing of them. Our next splurge is going to be almond butter, I found some off brand that is not very expensive, it will go into the apple bake. It is also yummy to just spread a little onto an apple slice, but i think it has a lot of calories, will have to check.

We have a guy do our lawn, we don't have all the equipment we would need, but he is super cheap because our yard is so small and we have the kind of grass that grows super slow, so he doesn't come often.

Today is my first day of more strict Paleo, making sure I drink my protein shakes to get enough protein, and working out. I'm starting with 15 minutes on the treadmill (I walked this last week some to see how much I could do and still have energy to work out) and starting Blogilates Beginner Calendar 2.0

I just took the garbage out and the lid was back and I didn't realize it and stepped on it and fell (fortunately no garbage came out and fell on me!) hard on my knees. I might have to wait till later when my knees are not hurting so bad from falling on them, all my weight landed on them, and I have bad knees to begin with.

That is okay, I bought some beautiful Christian 'thinking of you' cards and have a few people I want to send them to, so I can work on that and on my to do list.

Hope you have a great Monday!

Karri your pastor sounds a lot like mine. My pastor is the same way and always willing to help answer questions. We have a small church as well and we have one small older group that sings mostly hymns. Then the pastor's 2 oldest daughters sang when the pianist was recovering from hip surgery. We also have a husband and wife that some down and sing for us once a month. They are very good and I enjoy their music.

I looked into almond flour and it is too expensive for me. We just stick to wheat flour mostly since Jenny is trying to avoid all white flour and sugar now.

Joann welcome to the team! That is a lot of steps! I made it there yesterday but usually I range around 13,000-14,000. I have a blister on my one toe from walking so much. How do you prevent any foot problems? Hope you enjoy your new position in the church. I know our pianist loves to play and sing.

Barb wow! That is a lot of hours of exercise and steps! Wish I had someone to help me trim and cut stuff in the yard. I do not have the money or strength for it myself.

Jo Ann emoticon I never knew how much work went into the music at a church till I moved to where my DH's family is, they are all musical in some way, and both my kids are in band. Bless you for taking that job, I hope it is as rewarding as my Aunt makes it sound (she used to have a similar job, but I think two people shared the responsibilities). That is a lot of steps! You must be so active!!! I'm aiming for 6k and struggling at 4k, but then, due to medical setbacks last year I am just getting back into working out again. In fact, I start my new workout routine tomorrow, Sundays will be my rest days that way.

Barbara, what kind of muffins did you make? I'm curious because I'm wanting to try Alton Brown's Morning Glory Muffins, but I'm trying to be Paleo, so trying to discover if almond flour would work as well as regular flour.... Paleo can be so hard!! But, I found a baked apple recipe that sounds wonderful, and since I get so cold, I either drink a lot of coffee or hot tea, or have oatmeal, which is not Paleo either. My shakes for protein are cold, so I freeze a lot!

We go to church super early and help with set up, we are a small church, but growing, and meet in a gym of a community center, but the people are amazing, the pastor is humble and mostly spot on, he's the type that if you have a question about something he said, you can call or email him and if he goofed, he'll let everyone know! Amazing guy for God!

Today we are taking some doggy diapers leftover from when my girl was in heat to the animal shelter, they said that it was okay that the diapers were no longer in the original bag (don't know why my daughter dumped them onto the floor of the closet... I have a teen and preteen!!). And we will go over the next Chapter in Lies Girls Believe. I have the Mom's book to go with it, thank goodness! And we are starting our study on the book of John that DH found, it's an 8 week course, but we will only be able to do it 3 days a week, so who knows how long it will take us to actually finish it, because band and other things are bound to come up too. ODD is trying out for Pep band. She is first seat at trumpet, so she'll probably get it, unless she gets nervous.

Jo Ann welcome to the team. Praying you have the strength and energy to do your new job. What a great step challenge! Way to go on coming so close. Keep up the good work.

Worked in the yard today for 4 hours. Got my hedge and bushes trimmed for the Fall. Yay to have two things checked off the to do list. Worked on redoing the ground cover and mulch; got half of it completed. This evening made a batch of my healthy muffins which will last for a month. Feeling tired but accomplished today. Got in 7,407 steps burning 1,873 calories.

Hi everyone. My name is Jo Ann and I have just joined your group. Thank you for asking me, Laura. Sounds like a great group to be in and I am looking forward to posting everyday if possible.
My challenge right now is a new job I have undertaken. I have always played piano and when our choir director retired at the end of June, I was asked to take over the summer program and then start officially in September as Music Director. Believe me it is a big challenge as I have to plan all the music plus specials. I have a great choir but we are all older but we are all learning together. I recently had a couple of medical procedures which has set me back. I am still playing catchup and have had to go in on what should have been my days off. But that is okay. I want to do this and I'll do what it takes to get the job done. By the way I am 81 yrs and I don't have a lot of energy at the end of day. Pray that God will give me the energy. emoticon
I have a step challenge of 16,000 steps. Today I was close with 15383. emoticon
Everyone have a good week. Be in church Sunday and get the blessings God has in store for you. emoticon
God bless.

Happy Friday all. Last night was not a good night - lots of thunder and lightning which Marv really does not like. He usually hides under the bed, but last night he jumped in my bed so we shared the bed for the first night. Poor guy.

I have been getting in lots of activity outside this week trimming my hedge and bushes in the front. I have only one bush left. It feels good to have accomplished some things on my list. Today was a nice walk with Marv and yoga. This evening I have been working on my cards.

@ POETLKNG2LOSE - mowing the lawn is hard work. Thankfully my friend, Bob, mows my lawns, but I do the trimming of the hedge, bushes, trees, weeding, and such.

Laura - It was a definite workout and calorie burner. I was so sore today. Good job on your walk; I am sorry your back was hurting. I have the same problem, but I know I have to keep moving.

Today I took Marv on a 23 minute walk and went to yoga. The rest of the day was mostly relaxing. I did some shopping and worked on my cards, but that is all.

Hi all. Today I opted to skip my normal walk and strength so that I could get some of my things checked off my list of things to do before rain decides to come. So, today's exercise was working in the yard and trimming the hedge for 2-1/2 hours plus steam cleaning the kitchen floors. I feel exhausted and sore this evening so I will be looking forward to yoga tomorrow. I also got two loads of laundry washed and folded and worked on creating cards for church friends who have birthdays or are celebrating anniversaries.

@ 4HEISTHEANSWER - Good luck in your endeavor to pushing forward in your exercise.

@ CROUCHINGFLEA - Good luck in finding the answer to your sleep issue.

Hi all,
Sounds like everyone here is much farther along then I am when it comes to walking and exercising. Seems like after I had a plate put in my back just a few years ago, I have never had a lot of stability. However, I am going to be persistent and try to push forward the best I can.

Crouchingflea, that is terrible only to get up to 2 hours some nights. I pray your doctor will help you get straightened up soon. That is so demanding on your body, emotions, emoticon
Sounds you are not a quitter and keep pushing though.

Just love chatting to this team. You all are special.
Hugs

I got a little more sleep last night, so I'm going ahead with my plan to start my workouts today, I'm hoping that working out will tire me out enough to help with sleep!!

I'm starting the Blogilates Beginner Calendar 2.0, treadmill for 15 minutes, standing Bosu ball for stability, and yoga flow hip opening sequence. Looking forward to it!!

I'm averaging zero to 2 hours of sleep now. Can't wait till Tuesday when the doctor is back in his office, he told me to send him a message Monday so he would get it early Tuesday. I did sleep a little bit more last night, but it was fitful, and I was awake a lot, so I don't know how much. I was using my weighted blanket and it was really cool in the house, and I think that helped a lot. Really tired tonight, so hoping I'll get more sleep tonight!!

Tomorrow I start my exercise program, it's a beginner's 30 day calendar, plus I'm going to be getting cardio on the treadmill, it has cooled off a lot from the week it was 105, but still too hot for me, and for my poor pup's feet. And I'll be putting together a standing routine for balance work on my off brand Bosu ball. Also will be tracking all of my food and upping my protein intake.

CROUCHING FLEA i sometimes can only get 5 -6 hours of sleep in sometimes less. Insomnia more form menopause than anything else.

\Elsie I had a few nights where I would have nightmares or I would lay awake a long time. Sometimes I would see the moon and start praying in tongues before going to sleep. I used to pray for God to put a hedge of protection around us. Thank you for the verses.

Crouching flea and Elisa, I know what it is to face insomnia, and it leaves you exhausted and can barely function. Mine has almost stopped.
I am praying you both will be healed of this.
What a great idea about the verses, I was just thinking about sending you something along these lines.
God outpowers Satan BIG TIME for Sure!!!! Just claim God's power nightly with these verses.

Hang in there both of you. Know we love and care for you both.
God Bless.

I've been going a million miles an hour, so have not caught up or been keeping up, sorry I kinda vanished for a while.

FOREVER_AGAPE, I too am dealing with some severe insomnia, and since my defenses are down due to lack of sleep, PTSD flashbacks followed by panic attacks at the worst of times. My sleep started out slowly getting worse about three weeks ago and this last week it has been either zero or an hour or two and that is all. I'm at the point where normally my PTSD would act up badly and I'd be hospitalized. After my last hospitalization a few years ago, I do all in my power to never have to go through that again. Ever. I went to relax and get sleep, and they kept me longer because I kept asking for my sleeping meds, which they thought meant I was too depressed. No, I have insomnia, so the last three nights there, I didn't sleep because I was afraid to ask for anxiety meds or sleep meds or they would keep me longer.

I bought some things I should not have, part of being manic, but I did not spend much. I should not have spent anything at all. I try my best to put all of the energies that I get from being manic into creativity and/or cleaning the house. It keeps me from doing stupid stuff. It helps that I can't drive.

Dreama, may God give you traveling mercies both ways. You must tell us all about the wedding when you get back. Are you going to post pics?

Laura, I continue to pray for Jenny and for you. Hope your procedure goes well.
The trip to the New England states was mostly driving (2,500 miles +) The toll booths were everywhere. It was unbelievable how crowded it was to pass through one to the Chesapeake Bay. Imagine 100s of cars for miles trying to get through and then merge into 2 lanes from over 5.
WV and Va were two beautiful states. We enjoyed the Amish country and buggy ride in Lancaster PA.
Thanks for asking.

Good morning! Today, after I drop off daughter to work, I'm going to be getting myself ready to head to Denver. I've a wedding to attend/participate in. I'm also going to help the bride set up. I most likely won't have internet until I get back. I am taking my computer just in case.

Prayers for a safe journey.

Ruth Ann I thought vacations were supposed to be relaxing. Where did you go and what did you do there? I know I am ready for fall and for the kids going back to school soon. That means Jennifer does not have to fight to get into her phone meetings for her Over Eating group. For 2 weeks she could not get into them because there was not enough data. I was supposed to have a pain procedure but it had to be postponed today. Due to the infection that I have I have to wait until it is done and then reschedule again.

Hi, it is so great to be back from vacation; maybe I can rest up now. emoticon

Dreama, praying your daughter gets the help she needs soon. Migraines are awful; depression would even be worse.

Laura: Yes, my daughter does take meds for her head. They don't seem to help much, though. We've got to get her depression back under control. Apparently the depression is a big trigger for those stupid migraines.

I only have one house today and an appointment for dear daughter. I've also got to run to the bank. So a bit to do today.

Last night I got two sections of the bank done. I'm so pleased about that. I was there until 11:00, though. By God's grace, I want to get the last two sections done tonight then tomorrow I can 'be lazy'. :)

I've started a new exercise routine. I'm not sure why, but I decided to look up a 40 minute cardio. Oh, my!! It whipped me! I'm gonna do it again today, by God's grace.

Well, I'm drinking my morning coffee then I need to start getting myself together. It's amazing how quickly the day goes.

Kathleen my daughter has that devotional journal. I am still working on it too; especially with my poems. It was so easy before when i let Him take over.

Dreama, I'm glad you had a good visit

I didn't exercise yesterday either, but I'm still waiting on Mr. Sandman to bring me enough sleep to be able to do that! And, I seem to be coming down sick with what DH has. Not good, it has been bad and lasted several almost a week!

Dreama, you do seem to have so much energy!! I so happy for you :) I hope your daughter finds a job that does not stress her, stress can be a major reason for migraines. I suffer from migraines, they used to be stress induced, but now we have no idea why I get them. They started back when I started having seizures.

SPARKKITTY2016, let us know how you like the book! It sounds like a good one. I'm currently trying to read Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy. I say trying because I'm so sleep deprived I read the first chapter and now I can't remember any of it. I know because I bought the workbook to go with it, and I can't remember a thing!! I'm also reading Girl Wash Your Face and bought Girl Stop Apologizing, her other book. But reading is on hold till insomnia loosens it grip on me!!

I'm trying to stay busy, I go from my mind going a million miles an hour and wanting to do all the things, to being so tired I feel groggy and can barely stay awake - till I lay down. I'll get so close to sleep, and then suddenly be wide awake. Sleep is being elusive. I slept more last night than I have in the last 4 days, but was not enough to make up for four nights of almost no sleep. I've sent a message to my p-doc, but who knows when that will get to him. I'll be calling them later to see about getting my ODD an appointment, she has ADHD and is starting to have severe mood swings, so we want a p-doc to handle her meds and evaluate her. I'll just ask about my message when I call for that. And I'm calling a new therapist after I make her appointment. My usual therapist I've seen for years and has helped me so much, but ever since I told her about my husband not liking her, she has harped on him every time I see her. Last session she, in a round about way, talked about me divorcing him. That was it for me. Nope. Done. He is my biggest help, my best friend, my biggest advocate, and whether he likes her or not, he's always there for me. She's been crossing the line for a while now and that was leaping over it.

Speaking of, everyone is coming down sick. DH stayed home today and is currently sleeping. Which means my plans of doing tons of laundry, vacuuming, shampooing the carpet and steam cleaning ODD's bed are out the window for today. But, he's having a really hard time, poor thing. It's sounding like strep, which both he and I are highly susceptible to. I had it at least 3-4 times a year as a kid.

Anyway, I hope you all are doing well, and stay healthy!!

Good morning! I'm drinking coffee. Checking e-mail. Working on waking up. Dear daughter called in. I've noticed a pattern to her migraines. They come when she's having a bad depression spell and also on the weekend with work. Makes me think she needs to find a job she would rather do than this one.

This place is small enough that it doesn't take four hours to clean. And I don't have as much stuff out. I haven't been able to time it on how long it does take. Laundry is almost done. I've got two more loads to wash. I've got one load in the dryer and one in the washer. Since my son has his fan, I'm going to try an experiment and see if I can't get the rest of my laundry done without waking him.

I didn't exercise yesterday and I honestly don't remember what my excuse was. But it was just that - an excuse. I've got to stop doing that.

Well, have a great day!

Dreama you are always so busy! Hope you got it all done.
I went to see the doctor's assistant today about spots on my arms. I thought it was skin cancer but she said it was just bruises. I have learned my lesson now and will use sunscreen protection when I go out walking.

Yay!! Friday! My day off! But today I've got to get my house cleaned. Sheets changed, and laundry done. I'm also going to clean out the fridge. I would have an easier time cleaning the hall bathroom but they decided to hook the fan and the light into one switch and it's a noisy thing! My son works nights and he has great hearing.

I'm off to take my daughter to work in a bit. As soon as I see my son up and around, I'll get that hallway bathroom cleaned. In the meantime, I can clean my bathroom and do the dusting. Change out my sheets and do dishes - except for run the dishwasher. I really would like to time and see how long that takes.

Have a great day!

Let's see. . .my yesterday. I crocheted. Too much. And now my hand is back where it started. :(

I didn't get that second bathroom cleaned. I did get the houses done, but with that, it's my job so there's no choice.

I didn't get any exercise in due to the pain in my hand. I think today I may be able to.

Today I have two houses back-to-back so I'll be out the door in a bit and won't be back until about 5:00. I need to make a trip to the library. A friend recommended a book to me and I'm going to see if it will be worth purchasing. It's a pressure point book for shoulder pain. Since my elbow has been messed up, I have had my shoulder kinking up as well.

Well, time for another cup of coffee and starting to wake up dear daughter. She's been so tired on her work days. I told her she needs to start getting up early on her days off and then her body won't be trying so hard to go back to sleep.

Have a great day!

Kari I will be praying too that they find the cause and can help you out.

Dreama you are like the energizer bunny. You just keep going.

I had to go and have a urine sample taken today. Been having some pain and it is dark at times and smells. But not all the time; Also concerned about spots on my arms. Was out in the sun without any sunscreen before.

Oh, Karri! I'll be praying! Please keep us posted.

Two houses to clean today. Both of them are rather large. I won't really be home until 5:00 (?) this evening.

I've gotten back to exercising. Just cardio for now. I'm not even going to attempt to add in weights yet.

It was a productive weekend. I was able to get my son for a couple of hours. We splurged and went to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard (only kind of blizzard I like emoticon So we don't have them very often. I think this is the first one I've actually had in years. My last load of laundry is in the dryer waiting for me to fold. I probably should do that this morning as my daughter wants to start her laundry. I have one more bathroom to clean but that will have to wait until this afternoon. So, all in all I'm happy with how my weekend turned out.

Have a great day!

Dreama, oh, I won't be doing the full 100, I'll just be doing what I can. I'll eventually work my way up to 100, but for now I'm just going to do my best and be happy with that.

CT scan of my abdomen today to see what is going on there, and why I'm having pain when I eat certain foods. I have to drink iodine and have the IV iodine, not looking forward to that. It's going to take about 2 and 1/2 hours. Glad I have a book to read and can work on my schedule and such.

Karri: I looked at that challenge and said "100?" Um. . .no. So, I didn't even attempt to do it.

Today I'm going to get the bank done early. I'll head over and get the bank done after my daughter goes to work. We are doing pork loin for dinner so that's got to get put in the crock pot this morning. Mashed potatoes and squash to go with it.

Church tonight. :) I love my church!

Have a great day!

Dreama, sorry to hear about your shoulder! I hear you on laundry, our dryer is hanging on by a thread, only one cycle works and it takes at least an hour or more to dry things especially blankets, which is what I'm working on washing now, as I cleaned out the linen closet and most of the stuff wasn't smelling like it was still clean, so rewashing what I didn't donate.

I work on laundry every day, since my dryer takes forever.

Today is Day 1 emoticon of my reset! I'm excited to start Blogilates 30 Day 100 Ab Challenge. I know I can't do 100 of the exercises, I'm just going to do my best and see what I can do and hopefully by the end of the 100 days I'll be able to do a full 100!! I'm starting my cardio today, but next Sunday will start being my rest days, I just didn't want to rest on my first day of my reset!!

Hope you all have a blessed day!

Well, I didn't get the entire house done. I got most of it done then my shoulder decided to kink up. It's still giving me problems. Laundry is going, but like my daughter said "You know how you have samples food. Well, we have samples of washers and dryers". Which also means I can only do half loads. Makes for longer laundry days.

I did head off to the party then I had to come home cause dinner wouldn't get done and daughter got frustrated with it. I didn't want to stay very long anyway because of my hearing. It's so bad. People think I'm an introvert, but I'm not. It's the hearing thing.

Now I'm waiting for my food to settle then I'm going to exercise After that I'm going to curl up and watch some preaching.

Evening all!

ONEAGLESWINGS19, I pray your letter helps lead your friend in the right direction.

I have a treadmill, I forget what brand, but it has 'shocks' to cushion your walking/running so that it is not as painful on my knees as 'pounding the pavement'. I'm starting back to exercising after being out of it for quite a while, and did better than I thought I would. I could have walked for longer, but did not want to overdo it on my first day! I loved the elliptical when I went to the gym, but the one I bought had the wrong gait for me, and it hurt my knee rather than cushioning it, so treadmill it was!

My Aunt was into genealogy, and somewhere I have what she did, it looks like Greek to me, but it goes all the way back to Charlemagne (go figure, I think half the world is related to him!). So my dad's side is really well researched, but my Mom's side is not. My Great Grandfather came here in the late 1800's from Denmark. I'm not into genealogy right now, but I'm sure eventually I'll haul that stuff out and go through it. My MIL is really into it, and has found all kinds of cousins and living relatives through it, but for some reason has shown no interest in getting to know them. I'd want to get to know them! I grew up with no relatives living anywhere near us, in a town where everyone had generations of family. I was lucky that my best friend's family 'adopted' me and I went to a lot of their family stuff. But wonder what it would have been like if I'd grown up with all my cousins and family in NM.

Anyway, I'm happy to say my migraine is mostly gone, down to a dull roar, I'm hoping that I can manage to keep it that way and have a productive week for once!
