Ugh.

Just saw this article and immediately thought about the implications for warehouse workers:

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and posting this.

This is our second year of boycotting Amazon, including Prime and Whole Foods. While it's sometimes inconvenient, I've been so happy to support struggling local and regional businesses (like Brooks shoes who make my vegan sneakers).

Whole Foods has vegan treats that I can't get anywhere else. Avoiding them has encouraged me to challenge myself and try more recipes. Result? Homemade is always better. And I'm improving as a cook!

This year, I decided to take family members and friends on individual dates instead of presents. My wife and I saw a musical. I'm going to Seattle (by Amtrak) for the day with another. Really excited about giving the gift of time, fun and attention to those I care about.

Petalia, you are such a bright light in this world. Thank you again.

While my parents were alive, this company made it possible for them to live at home. I could provide them with all their household stuff, some medical stuff, some food, and all their groceries. All of it was delivered to their door from my orders across the country. I knew then how bad amazon's labor practices were and vowed to leave them when my parents were no longer alive. That day has come. It seems like everyday I read more and more horrifying things about this company, in particular how their employees are treated. In these dark days where hopelessness is lurking around every corner, I find that living with intention and having my values in accordance with my actions allows me to put one foot in front of the other. This is an excellent time for me to say so long to amazon.

This article is in three parts: Amazonís Wealth Is Built on Brutality, The Human Misery Behind Amazonís Inhuman Delivery Times, and How to Avoid Amazon This Holiday Season. This last section is uplifting and creates possibilities. It reminds us of the gifts of experiences rather than stuff. truthout.org/articles/how-to-avoid-a
