It is so sad how many animals are being impacted by the smoke. emoticon

My friends coming for peanuts yesterday. My heart breaks that they are outside in this relentless smoke.

Right? It is completely unreal.

I'd add some photos of Salem, OR but I think I've terrorized everyone enough for one week.

I work with a small, solar business in Colorado and was trying to assess their weather yesterday. Did you see this map?

Here in NW WA we are having high, gusty winds and dry air in a timberbox situation. We've had hot days and cold days but I've never seen anything like this.

Just holding on and trying to send hugs to the Earth as much as I can.

DIJ: On that auspicious note, what would your message to humankind be? Erm, why are you looking at me like that?
Tiger (grinning): Donít worry, sonny boy, Iíve recently eaten. Just assessing your potential as a toothpick though.

Ha, ha, ha.....funny!

Okay, I was trying to find an article to source the return of Tiger populations in India and I came across this piece. From, err, the Tiger's point of view. :)

Feeling you, Miss Holly. Trying not to be scared.

This is not the right team, probably, but I am having some deep concerns about Buttigieg and especially Bloomberg. I support intersectionality approaches in saving our habitat (and anything else) and I just cannot support candidates who are clearly racist.

Meanwhile, GOTV efforts, supporting the candidates we feel most strongly about and talking-talking-talking is probably the best? Unless you're in a swing or voter-threatened state, in which case, being an election observer could be crucial.

The fires in Australia are heartbreaking. The footage is so hard to watch.

I, too, am hoping for a better election result in 2020. We cannot afford four more years of the current administration. The damage that has already been done may be irreparable. Time for me to stop being an armchair quarterback and get more directly involved.

Having a hard time with Australia and the sheer number of animals dead, dying or endangered
Having a hard time with Alaska losing so much reflective surface
Having a hard time with the insect demise scares

What's encouraging? I'm hoping for good elections results in 2020. I'm hoping for increased protests and movement for the climate. I'm thinking of being more healthy and active in order to help wherever and whatever I can.

How about you?

Some photos of the Extinction Rebellion occupation of Trafalgar Square in October. I was so impressed with their level of organization and commitment to nonviolence:

I was honored to be able to connect a bit with Extinction Rebellion when I was in London. (Maybe photos will come.) But since following them, I've been truly impressed with how they've worked to heal and recoup from action as well as doing long and short-term events.

One of the things that's impressed me most is their emphasis on grief vs despair. It seems completely right that we cannot take in all that's happening without taking time and space to grieve. That doesn't mean giving in to hopelessness, though.

This is a thread for us to share that grief, as well as encouragement and support of each other. Like the daily coffee chats on other teams, this can be a place for chit chat and "how you doin'" stuff as well - it doesn't have to be all ponderous!

I just wanted a safe space for us to be here for one another, across the miles and around the planet.

Hugs and healing to all.
