How is everyone doing with respect to weight management? Are you losing? Are you at maintenance yet? Have you invited God to be part of this area of your life?

Sure would be nice if everyone would take a minute to come and share where they are at with respect to weight loss - that is a part of this group along with walking with the Lord.

So here is my update:

I have gone sugar and flour free. Today is Day 7 of being complaint with the program. Every evening I plan out my meals for the next day, writing them all down. In the morning when I get up I go to prayer (before breakfast) and ask Christ to give you the strength just to follow the plan for this one day - and if you do that daily before you know you will be successful in making changes. So what does my scale say with respect to not having sugar and flour - today is told me that I have lost 9.1 pounds since Day which was Tuesday November 5. And I am over the moon about it.

Has it been difficult going no sugar no flour - no not at all. A few days before I started I went through the pantry and fridge reading any labels. If sugar (and there are many names for sugar so you have to be aware of that) is listed in the 1st 3 ingredients I don't eat it. So that took care of all the salad dressing I had in the fridge as well as many of the sauce that my husband likes. As for flour - that means no bread, no pasta, no pastry of any kind or any sauces that you might put flour in. Easy or hard - it is only as hard as you make it. I made up my day 1 meals the night before, got up the following day and after being with the Lord I turned to my husband and said - today I am not having any sugar or flour and here is the menu I am following for today. If there is something else you want that's ok but my food for today cannot have sugar or flour -(am allowed 2 fruits a day one at breakfast and one at lunch). He agreed and here I am half way through Day 7 and down 9.1 pounds. I belong to a large group on facebook that is very supportive - many have been eating this way for well over 10 years and lost all the weight and have never gained it back - they just eat this way - after you lose the weight you want or need to you get to increase the grains and I am not sure what the others are as I would have to look it up. And pretty everyone that I have talked to that is or has done this program got to goal weight within 1 year many losing 100 pounds in 12 months. So I am hopeful, I believe that Christ is endorsing this as I have had no temptation that I could not handle. That being said during the last 7 days my hubby wanted lasagne for dinner - so he and daughter had it along with garlic bread. I took out the indoor BBQ, grilled up some chicken, cooked up 8 oz of vegetables and enjoyed my meal and everyone was happy.

So that is where I am at re making changes to my health re my eating - so where are you?

In Canada we are celebrating our Thanksgiving weekend. We are so blessed and for me it's a time to give thanks to God for all He has done in my life and continues to do. Blessings everyone.

Went to an autoharp workshop today. Learned a few things and with tunes had to watch the others play since my autoharp wasn't tuned. I went up to the Folklore Center (sells things like autoharps, dulcimers, guitars, ukes, etc.) and got help learning how to use the electric tuner so I can tune the autoharp. Also got two more finger picks and looked through the books they had. If I could have afforded it, I would have bought the Gospel Music for Autoharp book they had. A lot of old time gospel music came from the hills where the autoharp and dulcimer were popular.

Hope everyone is having a beautiful weekend.

That would be an enjoyable way to spend an evening during the week, singing praises. We had one day last year that they did that at church. Just that and nothing else. I hope they will have it again.

Denzel, I have done the you tube music, too. In the background all the time is one radio station that plays the contemporary Christian music. Then sometimes I will get some you tube southern gospel. On my old computer I had a station saved that was southern gospel, too. I don't know if it is on this one or not. Maybe I will check since it was a bookmark and I think those are the same as I had on the old computer. I have had times when I was really upset about something that I just played Christian music. I did that after my Mom passed several years ago and really wondered what drove me to that.

Thank you, Gleoria for your words of encouragement. Today marks the third week since I got this cold - it can't last much longer!
So glad you felt refreshed after singing last night. Even though I can't sing very well, I do enjoy singing His praises. God is so good and I thank Him for being so good to me. I will often play gospel music on YouTube to uplift my spirit.
Have a Spirit-filled day.

I know Dinzel you felt a little better by attending worship on Sunday. It always feels incomplete to miss assembling in public worship. I hope you soon get to be 100%. May God bless you.

Every 4th Wednesday we have a Song and Praise evening instead of our regular Bible Study. It is always uplifting to sing praises to God and reflect on the words in the hymns and songs that are sung. I felt refreshed after singing last night.

Have a day full of the Spirit emoticon .

Good morning. Yesterday (Sunday) I managed to attend church even though I wasn't feeling all that great. This cold has been lingering for two weeks and this morning seems to have refreshed it. So for two weeks I have been unable to get outside to do my walking but have done some limited walking inside - just not the same. Hopefully this cold will disappear in the next few days. Have a great day and may the good Lord bless and keep you well.

Greetings everyone. This has been an unusual week for me - very little walking in which I have missed. Early in the week my sister & her husband were visiting with us from Nova Scotia - that was great. We had a few great days together. On Thursday I came down with a cold that has hung on and kept me confined to the house since then. I am feeling better but was unable to go to church this morning. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. Through it all God has watched over us - He is faithful and we put our trust in Him.
Take care, friends. Blessings!

Good day, I seems like you are going through a tough time. I hope you can put down your anchor in hope so that you can weather this time. Debt can be very distressing. I will pray that you find the help you need. Keep fighting the good fight of faith. Don't give up. Hold On! May Jesus help you to find the solution.

I went to get a few things I needed and also got some food today. Then got home to find they are raising my interest rate on VISA 6% since I paid a little extra this month to try to get the balance down a little. Means I can't pay for a phone anymore, can't buy necessities like toilet paper or laundry soap (that one the cheapest I can find). I won't be able to get it down low enough so I can get a used washer. They are purposely making it impossible to lower the balance. He said I could go to credit counseling and ruin my credit rating (it's GOOD), or they will just go ahead and ruin it for me.

Now it is pretty certain I will not even be able to afford to get what Cassie needs to get rid of the lymphoma or get it in remission. It doesn't give me much reason to keep fighting.

Marilyn, congrats on continuing to meet your goals!

YAY Cassie's home! I hope she continues getting better! emoticon

I did 2 1/2 hours at my volunteer job (at a hospice office) today, then went to Target and spent $135! I was expecting it to be that bad, I hadn't been in over a month and needed to restock a lot. None of it was frivolous.

I am also meeting my goals, and I am on target to lose two pounds this week. I weigh in tomorrow morning (I only weigh once a week).

Tomorrow my husband and I are having lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. I am getting a veggie sandwich. emoticon

Morning everyone - hope you are all having a great Friday and looking forward to a great weekend

@Dinzel = for some reason I didn't realize you lived in Canada - I also live there - only on the west coast province of British Columbia. I enjoy all you posting

@FANCYQTR - Darlene glad you were able to bring Cassie home. I remember years ago (36 actually) when my 'cat' got diabetes and having to give him insulin shots - then in October of that year he had a horrible seizure and just wasn't the same - I was getting married in December and moving where the vet was only in town on Tuesdays and Thursdays - so I decided to have him put down - he was 11 but the vet thought it was the best as the car was just not the same. So I was left with my dog who was 12 and she lived to the ripe old age of 17 - and since we have had many other dogs.

Doing well with meeting my daily goals, weekly goals and am working on making sure I get the September goals completed as it is something I have been working on for some time. Pretty close to it so will do a happy dance when it happens

Take care everyone - sure hope that more will participate here on this chat thread

I just returned from my morning walk (45 minutes). It's a beautiful morning. We are expecting the remnants of Dorian going through our province (Newfoundland & Labrador) this weekend with winds gusting up to 110 km per hour. God is good and we continue to put our trust in Him. Have a great day.

I was finally able to bring Cassie home this afternoon. She has about 8-10 days on prescription food, antibiotics, etc., then can start eating what I plan to feed her. I don't know if she can go through another chemo or not. I guess if she does she will need all this stuff to stop nausia and diarrhea along with it so she doesn't have a recurrence of the gastroenteritis. That would be the last one I could afford, though.

I am sure glad to have her home, though. It was awful when she was gone.

@MARILYNS71 Good for you with the fitness and weight loss! I'm so happy for you that will meet another big goal next month! emoticon

I am reading the Bible through too, and just got to 1 Chronicles today. I just skimmed the first 12 chapters since it was just lists of names and then we got back to King David again! We had already read the same things in 2 Samuel! I finished 1 Chronicles, and looked to see what started 2 Chronicles for tomorrow, and we are back to Solomon. I guess this reading will just reinforce what I already read, to make sure I understood it all! Never hurts to read things twice!

@FANCYQTR I will be praying for your precious Cassie.

Good afternoon. I have been continuing with my pickleball exercise, even took a clinic for it and will take another next month. Usually I can hit the ball better, but not today.

My dog, Cassie, has been in the hospital since Saturday with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis. She is doing well now, but needs a check for parasites before she can come home. I wish she'd hurry up with that. The gastro emptied her out so nothing to check yet. She apparently got the gastroenteritis from the chemo she had last week for lymphoma. If anyone can pray for her, I would appreciate it.

We have almost finished our current Bible study. I haven't been able to get there too constantly, with colds, IBS and getting pet food (only have 1 1/2 hours to pick up pet food and that is right during Bible study time). Not sure what they are doing next time. If I could afford the gas maybe I would try one at out church, too, but I keep running out of gas already.

Marilyn, good for you on your walking and weight loss. I haven't been doing so well with that. I just can't stop eating some things that won't let me lose, even when I am doing a high calorie loss exercise (suppose to use 350 calories in 1/2 hour and I usually get in about 2 hours total play).

Hope you are all having a great day - looking forward to having a great weekend.

My prayer is that all active members of this group will come to this thread and share rather than only posting on the team wall - so please, everyone, consider coming to this thread as often as possible to participate

Just completed my 1 mile walk today - have now walked 20 miles - my virtual walk across Canada started on Vancouver Island where I am tracking the miles between Port Hardy and Port McNeil - a distance of 27 miles = so I have another 7 miles to go - that means I need to walk 14,000 steps - and Lord willing I will do that in 10 days.

Doing well with my food - scale is slowly coming down - going to hit my next goal - before the middle of October which will be great

Am enjoying reading the Bible through with my husband. We read 4 chapters a day - he does 2 and then I do 2. Forget when we started doing this but we are now in 1st Chronicles - and must say will be happy when we get through 2nd Chronicles due to all those names. But there is a lot to learn from it all

Have a great day

Good morning everyone - we are at the start of a new week and a new month.
Also this new thread.

I am praying that all those that are still active on this group and those what think they would like to become more active will come to this thread and share - come on people, as believers we are told in His Word that we should encourage each other - so please come and share an encouraging word here - something that you might have learned with respect to healthy eating or exercise or even just a kind word saying that you still are here and enjoy the group.

Am back to my walking today - feels good after not doing much last week - and am looking forward to getting in many

Well it is time for my daily reading with my hubby - we are in 2 Chronicles - so will sign off for now

I am getting in before September 1! emoticon

I had a good week - I lost a little over three pounds, so now I am down 83.5 from my max. I have 60.5 left to lose to get to my long-term goal. I can do it!

I am job hunting to get off disability. I didn't find anything new to apply for this week, I guess people didn't post ahead of the holiday weekend. Hopefully some opportunities come up next week.

I also only volunteered for 45 minutes this week. That was disappointing. They just didn't have enough work for me! Normally I go twice a week, I just hope they have more next week. I know Friday will be busier since I'll have to sort all the patient records after the team meetings. So that's something. I do office work for a hospice and I love it!

I will be happy to have my husband home for the next two days. He had to work all day today.

Good morning everyone - can you believe that it is the end of August already? Hope you are having a good day.

Hubby is so pleased with this new car - told me that he would wash and clean it out every Saturday - and he is doing the car now - look so good and still smells like a new car.

Food is going great - scale is down as of today so am looking forward to having a great weighin on Tuesday.

Walking is also going great - havent done my walk for 3 days now due to all the work on getting the new car - but am planning to have a good walk this afternoon.

Having our son and girlfriend for lunch today - then they are back to the ball field. They have played 4 games since yesterday and have won 3 so they are doing great. But as a mother I am concerned about his face as it was 5 weeks now since he was hit in the face with a ball - causing a lot of damage but doctor gave him the ok to play as long as he wears a face mask. His right side of his face though is still quite swollen - but he is 31 and knows if he should be playing. But still I am doing the mother thing.

At any rate I am going to sign off now

Good Saturday morning.
Most of my steps this week have been inside because of the wet weather we have been having - however I did manage to get out a few times to walk. My exercise routine is usually walking each day getting at least 8000 steps in and at least 30 minutes per day.
Have a great Saturday everyone.

Have made a few changes that I hope you will all like - this is the thread to come and share how you are doing.

It would be nice if all members - especially active members - would come here at least once every 2 weeks to share how they are doing with food issues / exercises issues - as I believe most of us that have joined this group (1) are believers who (2) need to lose some weight in order to regain their health.

So I am praying that everyone will be motivated to come to this thread to share as often as possible but at least once every 2 weeks.

Let's see if we can get 5 members to post on this thread before September 1
