Interior doors don't slam and neither does the 1 door to outside. I can see it from most of my apt. If it could actually be slammed they'd have to break thru the dead bolt, regular lock, and chain lock which is locked when I'm inside. After making all that noise I'd have plenty of time to grab a hammer

A friend of mine did hear heavy footsteps and a door slam when she was in her house alone. It freaked her out so badly that she ran outside and sat in her car with her radio blasting until her spouse can home. She later discovered that the footsteps were coming down a staircase leading from a bedroom into the kitchen that had been sealed off! I think she is currently waiting for a paranormal group to check out her place!
If it was me, I'd hide in my bedcovers and hope it went away!

That would be super weird, because I live in an apartment with only one entrance, and I can see it from almost any vantage point … emoticon

I would tell our 130 pound German Shepherd to Guard, call 911 as my cell is always with me, and grab my gun. As stated by @PATJOONWW, that may sound harsh, but being so physically disabled I would have to protect myself if hubby was gone somewhere.

Well luckily I have 2 german shepherds who alert me to everything.

But if it was when hubby was out walking them, I would go for my gun. I've been trained by ex-cop that I work with and have gone to range a few times. Need to get my conceal carry license - hope to get that this winter. I know that sounds harsh, but it is the truth

If you are alone in your place and you hear heavy footsteps and a door slam, what would you do?
