@LADYLINDA1 I forgot to mentioned-I think it is a 3 mile out and 3 mile in ride. The turn around is where fire and cocoa is. Your train sounds like a longer ride-which would be really nice. I think I saw the cost was $8 adult for this.

LittleRedHen8 - that is similar CP rail runs this decorated train from Vancouver to Halifax every December to celebrate the holiday season. I have watched it from afar but never went and participated in the activities. Every year they choose different towns to stop in. I think it involves caroling and hot chocolate as well. not sure about Santa. It stopped in our town a couple of years ago. Really puts you in the christmas spirit.

@LADYLINDA1 We have a Christmas Trolley nearby. They have carols, lights along the way, stop for cocoa by a fire. I've never went. Also Santa is there probably certain times anyway. It's called East Broad Top and Rockhill Trolley Car Museum.

@RKOTTEK Sorry to hear SIL's properties may be in danger zone!
Hopefully they can get things under control!

@LADYLINDA1 I was getting ready to leave when your message came this morning.
We also have a Christmas trolley car (I think). It's about 20 miles away. It travels like 6 miles round trip. I've never went. But I believe it's all decorated, & they do caroling etc. They also do other seasonal runs also for Easter and Halloween. Or used too.

@LADYLINDA1 I live about a mile from train RR. And often think about something happening. We have had multiple derailments close by. But not chemicals yet.

LittleRedHen8 - I know this question is not directed at me but I just couldn't resist answering. 2 days ago at 12:15 a.m. CP rail line had a derailment close to our acreage - oil tankers carrying crude to Eastern Canada. Remember - they don't want a pipe line - anyway over 20 caught fire. They had the main Hwy closed until late yesterday. You could see the blaze for miles and the black smoke and smell was terrible. I have no idea how many fire fighters we had on scene but they were out there in -29 weather during the whole mess. I heard quite a few battled the blaze for over 18 hours until relief fighters came. Of course all the environmental out fits come a running too - hazmat was there but really just sat in their trucks for 2 days because they couldn't get anywhere near the wreck until the fire was out. So that was the rural excitement for this week. This happens to be a main line for canadian pacific rail so they had her up and running yesterday morning hauling out the remaining cars that were transportable. I can't imagine what it would be costing them to have the line closed for this length of time. they service 4 potash mines along this line so that's a lot of money held up for all concerned.
Monday night was the holiday train run;they have a train decorated for christmas and entertainers have a portable stage. they make various stops along the route and people come out to enjoy the entertainment and see the colorful train. They have passengers on board too - I believe you can only ride the holiday train if you are an employee or an employee gets you a ticket. A friend of mine was asked this year so she went from Wynyard to Saskatoon. She has never been on a train and she loved it. I am just very thankful the derailment never happened then. That would have been tragic. At least with this there was no loss of life or injuries, just a huge smelly mess.

Cleared all the stuff away from my exercise bike and actually rode it for 10 min tonight. My knee bothered when I started and then loosened up. I will see how it feels in the morning. Need to find a consistent form of exercise to burn calories. Will try for 2 days in a row, still tracking my food and staying in my range. Yes baby steps one at a time.
We can do this!

@LADYLINDA1 It's good that you have found journaling as a help to you. That's good news to hear that your remodeling is coming to a end also! As for baking-do you have to do it? Like is it gifts etc?
I don't make anything anymore because I will eat it. And my laziness has gotten bad. But when it's hard to move around, bend down to get things out of oven, it's just easier not to do it. It's a real struggle trying to get pans out of the oven and keep balanced at the same time!
It does bother me to eat someone else's cooking when I liked my items better though.

Let us know how the honey do lists work out for you.

mango1960 - yes it has been major, but now that we are nearing the end it's really beautiful. Once the kitchen counter top is in and the new taps installed I won't want to leave my kitchen! lol popcorn cake is pretty much the same as rice krispy cake but instead of rice krispys you use popped corn and throw in a handful of gum drops or gummy bears. I usually skip the gummys if it's just for the guys here, they like their treats and these are high fiber and fairly decent calorie wise. I don't eat them - well not usually, because of my diverticulitis. Anything with too much fiber can start a flare up so I'm pretty cautious but once in a while I will eat a very tiny piece because I do like it.
It's been a real roller coaster emotionally here and I have been struggling staying out of the baking. I have given most of it away and my answer to not over doing the sugary stuff has been to not have it in the house. I journal daily and I have a list going every day of all the things that I want or need done that particular day. Most of the time I do it all but sometimes a few things get left for tomorrow and I am really bad at beating myself up over it. So I have started a little note book and every day I write down all the things that I did do that day and I have been surprised how much better I feel about myself. What's really ironic is the psychiatrist told my hubby to do pretty much this same thing to help him take his mind off his imaginary health issues. Needless to say hubby does not do it. I might try making him a little hunny do list every day - little things like getting the mail, cleaning the bathroom, feeding the birds, making the bed. just something to keep him occupied for a little bit during the day.
So today is house cleaning day now that the dry wall dust has settled so to speak.
Have a happy day all.

yesterday was hubbys psychiatrist appointment in the city. He has been backsliding lately so I wasn't sure what to expect. The session seemed to go well and they changed up some of his meds so I am hoping he will improve a bit over the holiday season but I have learned not to get my hopes up.
Came home and the contractor has my butcher block installed - it is impressive! I am so happy with it. He also has the bathroom all ready to paint today. yay!! The electrician showed up yesterday and installed my vanity lights and a light over my kitchen sink. Also changed out some old wiring. He was supposed to put fans in the bathrooms but ran into asbestos so I am not sure what that will mean. I don't think we can afford to hire a hazmat team to remove it so I guess this means no fans?? he's getting it tested to make sure it is asbestos and will get back to my contractor. If I am lucky it won't be, but this is a pretty old house so my bets are on it being positive for asbestos.
Got a bit of Christmas shopping done but not a lot;don't have a lot to buy this year so it really isn't that big of a deal. Now that this reno is almost done it's getting exciting. Can't wait to put my house back in order too. I have so much stuff everywhere because it belongs in bathrooms that are torn apart or under kitchen counters that are going to be replaced in 3 weeks - it's frustrating. haha, just thought, if I am frustrated these men here must be going insane. lol neither one can tolerate change.
Have buns baked, home made soup on the stove and popcorn cake made for the day. Coffee time here I come. lol
Have a fabulous day all.

@LADYLINDA1 Our buck season starts Saturday. It has always been the Monday after Thanksgiving and they changed it this year to Saturday. That Monday has been a holiday for most of the state forever. Meaning a big 5 day weekend for most (not all) factory people. School even gives Monday and Tuesday off.

Glad that you are getting some things accomplished though. Great job on the not eating for stress!!!

LittleRedHen8 - remodeling has been going pretty good. we have one bathroom completed. The other is about halfway. My plumber had buck fever - hunter and it's hunting season. also I live in the middle of deer country so he had his eyes on the field instead of the pipes - I don't think I have ever seen anyone work any slower! The contractor put in a sub floor, dry walled, mudded and sanded it, installed 3 doors with jams and painted the hallway and this other guy got one set of taps in! I asked him when he intended to install the tub and tub surround and he said Oh ya. So he came back the next day and did the tub and surround;got caulking all over the place - have you ever cleaned up a mirror full of caulking? it is not a joyous job. by then the contractor had to finish another job in the city - dry walling- and will be back today to finish the bathroom but I can see a problem with it as the plumber hasn't really finished anything! so we shall see what happens today. The contractor is installing my butcher block on the island so I suppose he could get that done if he can't do anything in the bathroom. My counter top choice is no longer available so I had to go pick a different one yesterday so that means a 6 week delay. So, hopefully mid January they will be installed. I think the only thing keeping me sane is the fact that the one that is done is beautiful so I know the second one will be too but these workers are going to drive me insane.
I decided to run butcher block for five feet of counter so that meant I had to move a water dispenser that hubby can't live without - I would get rid of it personally - so you know how that goes, change one thing and you have a whole domino effect! I spent Tuesday moving things around in my office to accommodate that dispenser. I did a lot of cursing while I was doing it but after all was said and done it felt good to purge some things.
During all of this I did baking for a church sale tomorrow and finished a quilt for my future son in law - it's a t shirt quilt for him for Christmas. I want to decorate and put the tree up but have to have these guys out of my way first. I did sort through my decorations though, which needed doing. Whenever I go to see dd I have quite a load of stuff for the salvation army.
Made it through all of this calamity without binge eating or getting into all the xmas goodies and then yesterday I lost control - in my defense I did not go totally food crazy like I usually do but I sure ate enough carmel nut bars as I was putting them in gift containers( I give packs of baking to people that probably don't have any one to do it for them or money to buy. home made is always better than bought) and all the sugar really upset my system too. No more of that.

I have started exercising in the morning again (when I get to work in enough time). It feels good to get in more minutes than just my classes again. My eating still isn't great, but we're sorely short on cash lately so I'll take what I can get for now.

We're having Thanksgiving at the in-laws and she usually serves turkey, but with such a large crowd this year (14 people) I am wondering if she's going to make multiple turkeys or make something else? Since she was asking me about what "screams" Thanksgiving I am thinking she's probably aiming for a traditional turkey dinner. I have a feeling she'll be cooking for days! For Christmas my mother usually does spaghetti and my grandmother and in-laws both do soup, but since we're doing New Years at my mother's this year instead of the bowling alley with friends (I don't think the little one is quite ready for the noise and crowd of a bowling alley at midnight) my mother decided to do turkey since we're doing spaghetti for New Years. I'm making green bean casserole for both Thanksgiving and my mother's Christmas - I have a recipe for a Creole sausage and green bean casserole that is very good, but DH thinks I should stick to a traditional casserole. He is probably right.

Baby is in a very grabby stage right now, and is especially fascinated by my cell phone. If he can see it he wants it! It doesn't help that DH has downloaded a very interactive baby game on his phone for him to play with, which just makes him want to touch our screens even more. I was reminded today that I have an old phone just sitting on a set of drawers gathering dust that I could let baby play with instead of constantly hiding my phone from him. I bet DH even has its charger somewhere, too. He's the kind of techy that just has bags of cords that follow us everywhere for no discernable reason, lol. I had to refill the diaper bag this morning so I set baby down with my phone (closed in its case) and he was thrilled. It has a dangling cord on it and it's a faux leather case so it's great for baby gripping. He was just sitting there happily turning it around in his hands and pulling on the cord.

DH is bound and determined for baby to love technology as much as he does. Ever since we found out we were having a boy he's dreamed of him being a geek like him. I asked him what he'd do if we end up with an athlete (he's VERY physically strong and an active little boy, so it's a distinct possibility) and he sighed and said he guesses he could handle signing him up for a sport.

My niece got to take a stuffed animal to school yesterday and she chose to take a stuffed Pusheen doll I got her during our special date before the baby was born. Her mom messaged me to say everyone loved the doll and that my niece was super happy and wanted to tell me thank you again.

Evening everyone. Exercise & steps in and time to doze for midnight shift and attempt to get rid of stress headache from bad call last night. One thing i just remembered is deputy came in center and his first words were 'Hi Deb how much have you lost? I had to ask someone who you were during training you have lost so much'. It didn't phase me much last night but it's a pick me up now. Have a great weekend.

Hi RKOTTEK! How's it going?
Ladylinda- are you hand or machine quilting? I used to quilt by hand. I actually had a quilt I made published in a quilting magazine and I won a best of show in a Grange Fair for a quilt.

Keep on Sparking! It really works!

LittleRedHen8 - I do enjoy my quilting. I got a single sized blue quilt done in 2 days and then I had to pack it all up and put it away until next week sometime. Life just got in the way. I am going through some extremely frustrating stuff right now - a whole pile!! First I had to get confrontational with my contractors which is not something I like to do but if push comes to shove I am more than capable of pushing my weight around - no pun intended. They have been working on these bathrooms for 5 months and not even one is completed! So I told him either he wants the job or not and he better have something constructive done here by no later than wednesday or he and his plumber are terminated and I will get people that will get the job done.I had to forgo Thanksgiving because of this mess and I will not forgo my Christmas because of whatever their problems are. So, apparently they will be here Monday - lets see if this happens. I have a person coming Tuesday to measure my counter tops and hopefully they will get them made and installed by December 1st. She said they would so I will hold her to that. Then the sewer pump started acting up but I think hubby has that fixed - another who knows if it's for real deal. I am proud of myself for not binge eating through all this, I sure wanted to. I dumped a small container of ice cream down the toilet because I had it in my hand three times. The third time I said - it's you or me and you are not going to win this time.
So when I went to MJ to take my daughter shopping I really needed a 'fun' time and we did have fun. She isn't a mad marathon runner of a shopper so we only went to one bridal shop but it wasn't busy when we went and we had lots of attention from the sales reps. She tried on over 20 gowns, three were winners but we both felt we need to look in a few more shops before we buy. They were not bargains but she looked stunning. She looks best in an ivory color and a form fitting shape. I was proud of myself - I didn't cry - I was sure I would. She's my baby and my only girl so I probably will at the actual wedding. She is going to be a lovely bride;but then aren't all brides beautiful.
I went to Regina and visited with my oldest and the grand kids. My grand daughter is going shopping for a grad dress today, they wanted me to go too but I have been through this with these gals - it is not fun - so I declined. My grand daughter is growing into quite a mature little woman. I actually enjoyed her company, I usually do not. lol She showed me pics of her gf's wearing their dresses and she also showed me pics of a couple of out fits that she has in mind-none of which her mother approves of. I think she has very elegant taste but I am staying out of the decision making. Her mom has to pay for this outfit not me so it's between them. I hope I am able to attend her grad - it's in June I think - but if I have my surgery it won't be possible. We played games until 1a.m. and the kids ordered pizza, I wanted some but I did not eat one bite - another NSV for me and no suffering from GERD because of eating before bed. yes!!
The drive home was horrid! snow, rain and mush for roads! the plow was just coming out as I turned down our grid. I really do not like these first snowfalls. It takes a few road trips to get used to it.
So I have had my little fun time with the kids and it's back to the grind.

@LADYLINDA1 I hope that you are having a good time with all your fabric and Quilting!! Hope you are having lots of fun with it!

I am/was a crocheter. I have 100's skeins of yarn. I keep wanting to post it to sell and too lazy to do it. I don't need more afghans, too expensive to give away. So might as well sell it for someone else to get some joy from it.

Everyone have a Fun filled day and weekend!!! Hope you are reaching your goals!!

Don't forget to share your weight loss to get put on Pounds Gone Wall!!!

Dragged out my bins of fabric yesterday - believe me that's exercise all in itself!! lol started quilting - it's that time of year again. lol I love quilting, you might say it's my passion but over the years I had accumulated 5 large bins of various leftover scraps from various projects so last year I sorted them by color and decided to make scrap quilts to clear out some of the bins. 35 queen sized quilts and about 20 crib size ones went to a ladies shelter last xmas .I am down to 2 medium sized totes and I want those out this year. Got a double pinned and ready to quilt today. It feels good to make a dent in that pile let me tell you. somewhat like this weight loss journey - it feels good to be able to see progress but it also feels good to know I have a plan in place and am executing that plan, even when it doesn't seem to work fast enough. lol
May we all have a fabulous day

@LADYLINDA1 pain has a way of making us forget pride. I went to 1 cane. Then 2. Even used a wheeled walker. Now I got a scooter so I can go to outdoor farmers/Flea market. Only used 1 time before cold slowed done the bigger market.
Hope it isn't too cold while waiting for furnace guy.
Can you share a picture of the gnome? I'm not into them but always interested in what the team members are doing!!

I was a bit down last night;the furnace wouldn't stay running and finding a furnace guy on the long weekend is nothing short of a miracle. Just when I was going to dig out the floor heaters hubby got it to stay running and I did get a call back from a furnace guy but he can't come out until Sunday at the earliest. So I told him to come out Tuesday unless it stalls again and we can't get it up and running. I know what the problem is, I just don't have the ability to fix it. These new high efficiency furnaces have a condensation line and it gets blocked and floods out the furnace so you have to unblock it and put a new hose on. easier said than done.
So this morning I was talking to my daughter and she found these cute little gnomes on pinterest and she wants me to come and make some with her for xmas. They look pretty simple so I said sure, we can get together at her brothers place and all us gals can make a gnome. Should be fun. Then my gf's called and asked me to go with them to a craft sale in a town a short distance from here. It was a very nice sale and a lady there had gnomes - $15.00 each!! I almost fell over. They shouldn't be more than a couple of dollars each to make. I guess if you can get that price good for you. We had a nice outing, lunch and a bit of shopping. My hip has been really painful lately so I don't do too much before I have to rest. I guess I will have to get myself a cane - pride goes before the fall and I don't need to fall right now.
Hope everyone is having a great week end.

LittleRedHen- no more snow thank heavens but the farmers that didn't get their crops off probably won't until next year unfortunately. Some can still come off even though they are under snow but wheat, barley and oats are done for. Only good for feed now.
CroquetCourt thanks. It seems like it's been a really long 6 weeks.
My daughter called last night and was eating halloween candy as we chatted! I was in a 'deprived' mood so I said - that's not a very healthy supper. to which she said it's only a bite size kit kat mom and I had a healthy supper before I called you. I told my daughter I felt like I was deprived so those tests better be improved. She laughed at me. lol emoticon My doctor will probably get the results tomorrow so then the verdict will be in.

@LADYLINDA1 You are doing a Great job! Tests should show the work you put in!
Have you had any more snow? Were farmers able to get crops in?

@RKOTTEK Hi! Do they do Halloween in your area? What season are you in now? I think you are 14 hours different than US, is that correct?

Calling for lots of rain this evening. With very cold temps moving in for weekend!

Enjoy your day!

yesterday was flu shot day;hubby and I went. Ran into some old friends we haven't seen in forever - I really don't go too far now with the mobility issues.
Today is blood work. I am down 21 pounds from my last doctors visit so I sure hope the blood work is better than last time.

In Moose Jaw at the spa;last minute thing. My daughter and I went to the bridal extravaganza yesterday, it was an all day event with motivational speaker and fashion show. Great prizes for the brides and lots of gifties for the brides from over 250 vendors. We had fun even though she never won a grand prize...I was hoping. Lol the big prize was a destination wedding in the carribean...that would have been fabulous!!
We came back to moose jaw around 7 and I decided to get a room at the spa and not drive in the dark. The two hour drive has no towns or any farms close to the road so it's a long lonely drive and if something were to happen to my vehicle I could be sitting there a long time before anyone drove by to help.
Went to a movie, Addams family, had a dip in the pool and turned in. Totally enjoyable!! Had a swim this morning and we are heading out for breakfast, then she goes for her infusion and I go get some things at wall mart and head home.
Nice mini vacation.
