emoticon Good evening ladies. I've had a good day, topped off with having my hair cut and such a nice visit with my hairdresser. Next time she comes, she's picking up supper for me! Wow, that's super nice of her. I did more decorating for Christmas and am almost finished. Have you started or do you decorate?

Karen, do you suppose it was the shrimp that caused the bathroom trips? Could be, especially if you and your DD had the same and are both the same with the br trips! Have to be careful with those things. I'm watching lots of Christmas movies on TV, a lot of new ones this year and I'm thankful of that!

Mel, I'm so sorry you've come down with the same thing your hubby had. Do b careful about it, may need to be checked if it is so bad. It's best not to do anything but rest until you get over it, sounds like some sort of virus. Take it easy and get better soon!

Jen, no need to apologize when you don't come in for a while, life happens and we get busy or things happen that prevents us from going on our teams, etc. It's understandable. And losing your beloved daughter Sharon was a sad time for you and hubby and family. You're right, no parent should have to lose a child and I believe there are several on our team who have lost a child too soon also. My heart goes out to you and to them.

I'll say goodnight to all you lovely ladies and will be back tomorrow. Sleep well.

Hi to all who still visit this team---

Who is still active here--I am going to see who is on this forum as soon as I finish my post. I don't know how I managed to sort-or leave the team for so long, but I am surely glad that somehow I got a note to come back.

Here I am--ready for me or not--back to stay. I'm going to see who is still active--and contact you as good members of this team. I HAVE NOT BEEN A GOOD MEMBER FOR A LONG TIME AND I APOLOGIZE TO ALL BUT ESPECIALLY TO MY DEAREST FRIEND, -- GLORIA.

Well, DH is back with some dinner things so I must leave for now. I have a lot to talk about so I will be back this evening---Did any of you hear that my 60 yr old DD graduated to Heaven on Aug. 16 this year? That was a TERRIFIC DAY but also A VERY DIFFICULT DAY FOR THIS MOM. We'll talk about it later. I never thought I'd see my child go before me.

Must leave for now

Hello all, My Dear DH handed on his illness to me after all. Trouble is, I am sicker than he was. He just coughed non-stop for five or six days. I am having the aching body part of whatever this illness is. Not that I wish he had been sicker! But, bummer that all my activities have come to a grinding, screeching halt until I feel better and have more strength. Actually I think my lowest point was early this morning when I awoke hurting all over and especially in the legs. I took two aspirin and that pain has lessened a good deal.

Grocery shopped. had Rokki's nails clipped and my hair trimmed up a few inches worth yesterday as I was starting to feel I was coming down with something. At least I got those things out of the way. Wish I had had her go ahead and cut the hair a lot shorter. Oh well, next time.

The movie we saw, for those who asked, was GUNS OUT. It was like a classic murder mystery so kind of fun but with no obvious violence or gross car chases. I thought it was quite good.

Carol, hope yu do not get Bill's crud, or if you do get it you can shake it quickly. No fun. The stuff going around in our area seems to last around five days for most folks.

Take care all,
Mel

Sorry Bill is feeling so bad, My sisters significant other had it a few weeks ago & had to get meds from Doctor & then an ER visit. He is better now.

I have had lots of visits to bathroom since I ate at Red Lobster on Tuesday. DD has had same. We had a delicious salad & shrimp. Today I am watching some shows I recorded. My DVR is still acting up. I have to reboot it a few times each day to get to my recordings. I have some movies & shows I really want to see so will try to play around with it unless it quits altogether.

I am enjoying reading about the favorite cookies on QOTD. Years ago, I had a friend that gifted us with a box of homemade cookies & candies. They were all great!

Anyone watching any holiday movies or specials? I hope I don't miss Michael Buble.

Carol, emoticon High Tea at the Ritz - tell us all about it tomorrow, it does sound awesome! I'm keeping up with my exercises but when I went out yesterday, my leg hurt terribly and still does this morning. But I think the exercises are a wee bit easier to do.
Oh, it sounds like Bill has a dandy cold and that's a miserable thing to have. You'll have to stay at arm's length from him, lol. Not funny, I know you don't want to get sick like he is so do take care of yourself.

Morning everyone,

Drinking coffee and Sparking right now. Today I have High Tea at the Ritz Carleton, put on by my financial advisor. He does this every year for the female clients and love it.

Boy is Bill sick with a head cold and gunk but no fever and I have threatened him with life if I get it for Christmas or any time.

Thankfully no rain today and we will have a high of 65.

Lynda - glad you didn't run into any bears on your way to the highway with Tess

Gloria - how are the exercises going - hard, feel any different?

Have a marvelous Thursday emoticon

emoticon Good morning on a cold morning. I've been up since 5:30, have had breakfast, done my exercises and made my bed. Now sparking for a while and my pointer from my mouse is jumping all over the page this morning!

Missing some of you regulars here on the team but understand. Life happens and it's a busy time of the year.

I think I'll make another cup of coffee and talk with my daughter a bit. Hope to see some of you later. Have a terrific Thursday!

emoticon Hello to everyone, it looks like you were hibernating today, lol. I had a good day out, got what I went after. But oh my, my leg hurt worse than usual so I think the exercises I'm doing is really working on that leg's muscles. That's a good sign but it held me back a bit today. A nice lunch in a restaurant that I like, and lots of talking. I have one more gift to buy and that's for my niece who took me out today and takes me grocery shopping. I can't very well get her gift when she's with me, so I'll ask my son's wife to take me after physio this Friday.

So how is everyone doing? Did you get over your Thanksgiving? Getting ready for Christmas now?

Karen, hope you've had a good day.

Carol, be careful around Bill, you don't want to catch what he has!

I'll be in bed early again tonight. My hairdresser comes tomorrow but not until 4:30 so I'll have time to get a lot done, perhaps finish my decorating. See you tomorrow, sleep well.

Morning ladies,

The rains came in the middle of the night and now at 8:00....it's still raining. So grateful not to be on the freeway going to work. There are 4 sig alerts (where they shut down 3 lanes), when that happens you are dead in the water, the backup goes miles. The rain is supposed to continue all day.

This morning I have Stretch and Flex, so out comes the rain slicker and off I will go emoticon

Bill has been under the weather with cough, stuffy head and extreme tiredness. I have threatened him with his life if I get it. Larry had to come over to get a package last night, he peeked his head in and ran back out....smart guy, I wanted him to take me with him emoticon

Gloria - yup, we have stuff around if the power goes out. Have fun shopping and lunch

Irene - how great she was so thorough - love it when that happens

Karen - you sure had a great day yesterday emoticon

Lynda - hope the light snow doesn't get heavy

emoticon Good morning. It is just beginning to get light outside here and temp will rise to about 30 today, light flurries. And there you have it, my weather report, lol. A nice day to be going out I am! Not grocery shopping but just shopping for 'stuff' and maybe a new winter jacket for myself. Lunch out will be a leisurely one, that's for sure! I got up by alarm at 5:30, made my bed, did my exercises and had breakfast before getting on computer.

Lynda, always so great to see your lovely smile. Hope the office days are working out for you this week.

Irene, I'm so pleased that you got answers to your problems and I look forward to you getting your new glasses. You'll not only see better but will look spiffy in your new frames. How wonderful that you went for your eye test! I've got a lap blanket on the go, for myself, but doubt I'll ever get it done, lol, I do a bit then quit. You are good at getting things finished!

Karen, so glad your doctor visit went well for you and being taken out for lunch also was an added bonus! Your goal for 2020 is just fine and congrats on the weight you lost this past year. We don't need to set goals high in the sky, just what we feel is do-able for ourselves.

Carol, today is the big storm where you live and I hope it isn't a real bad one! Are you all ready for it - got a way to keep warm? have candles, flashlights? things to keep occupied if your power goes off?

Hello to everyone. So happy to be here today and to be able to wish each of you a wonderful Wednesday. Enjoy your day!

Hello on Wednesday. I am slowing down on my charity blanket making. I need to make more small Christmas stockings. Also finish a lap blanket I made for myself. . Then i want to look st knitted hats and scarves. But need my new glasses before I attempt any intricate designs.
I was so glad I had gone for an eye test yesterday. The lady who did it was so thorough .took a full hour to get all the details then explained it all to me. My present glasses are of little use to me now m I do need new ones.
Cataracts are forming but not ready yet. I am to have 6 monthly checks now. The eye tests are free for over 60s. But we pay for our own choice of glasses.
During the tests I was saying oh thereís a lovely shade of turquoise now or i can see a pattern. She didnít comment till. the end then said thereís no colour or patterns in standard eye test. What you are seeing is migraine, my brain is trying to make sense of what images the eyes are seeing. That explains the one sided headaches. I was so pleased to have answers to several problems. I chose the frames I would like on my next glasses. They now take two weeks or so to make. I hope to have them before Christmas.
Warm wishes to all. Irene

Be it ever so humble there is no place like home!

My Dr visit went really well. I had the test for osteoporosis & I remain in the osteopenia level. My numbers have improved a little. I am relieved as I thought I would need to go on meds for osteoporosis, Dr. Hoboyen was not upset by my liver numbers saying they are not that bad. I will have a retest in 3 months & meanwhile I will take a supplement & if my pain is not too bad I can skip the diclofenac. Sure hope that happens.

My DD took me & that was a nice treat. We went to Red Lobster for lunch. I will have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

I got new cords for my DVR system & YA....it works. I better hurry & watch This Is Us in case it goes out again. LOL

Mel..what movie did you watch?

Carol...Did you get the storm?

I have lost 6 lbs this last year. That will be my goal to loose 6 next year & get in onederland. Not a big goal but I am not feeling like shooting big.

I've been up since 7 but I'm going to reorganize my days because I'm still behind!! I think from now on I will do my exercises first thing and then come on computer because the teams and answering private email takes me so long to do. I'll be here but just a bit later each morning. I know you'll all understand. These exercises are so important for me.

I'm off to do them now, will see how long it takes me.

emoticon Good morning. I thought I'd be so sore today, but I'm not! Sure tired though, must be the weather doing that, such long nights now.

Nan, happy to see you. Oh yes, the snow really brightens up the darkness, hope yours stays.

Mel, what was the movie you saw? I need Closed Captions so no theaters for me, but I'd love to see some of the new movies that are out. Good to keep up your walks when it isn't so cold out.

Irene, I really love those little stockings you made, what a great idea and really unique way to put the cash in for gifts! I give gift cards and put them in their Christmas cards, I do wish I had those little stockings, they're awesome! I hope you get the proper lens for your eyes this time, they will make a big difference for you.

Lynda, I hope it stays mild for you, it's not bad here either just now. I'll stay strong, just for you!

Hello on Tuesday. The outdoor lights came yesterday. No batteries in! So Mike bought some then put the lights round the tree. The trees not big so I chose tiny lights theres various settings to create patterns. The remote isnít as helpful as I thought , you have to be right by the tree to switch it on and off, but it wasnít dear. So itís ok. I will look up which set we ordered.
I feel a bit more festive. Mikes giving cash to his family this year so I knitted him a few Christmas stockings to put the money in. No two alike and I think it looks better than handing over cash in an envelope these can be hung on s tree. I did a few yesterday I hope to do more today
Photo below. Busy day for me today. The cleaner here in the morning. Eye test this afternoon. No . not big medical week I am looking at other issues which I had ignored. Hence an eye test .

Hi Nan, so nice to see a post from you.

Hello to everyone else also. We are about to leave for the movie theater. There are two movies
down there that we will try to see before they are gone again.

We walked about an hour this morning. It was a lovely day. I do hope we won't get another storm right away.

Irene, I would love to know which lights you ordered on Amazon. I went on there but there were so many it got confusing. I would love to order a set for our outdoor tree too.

OK, goodnight to all and talk to you tomorrow,

I had my session with my personal physiotherapist this morning. He and I did 3 different exercises for my leg. The muscles have atrophied but he said they will work well again if I keep up these exercises. Plus it will help my back some too! I need to go to him once a week and since my son's wife is willing to take me, I'm going. I have to do these exercises daily and they hurt but he said gradually, at some point, they won't hurt so much! The outcome is that I will walk much better, with less pain!! That thought and his, Matt's, encouragement will get me through the first few weeks. Wow did he work on my back and it hurts but in a few days, it will start to feel much better!

Lynda, so glad you have sun! It is a bright sky here but no sun, not real cold either.

Carol, it is 30 degrees out and we're getting light snow. Beautiful day and everyone had their walks and driveways cleared so I had no problem getting around. The Christmas Lunch sounds really great, entertainment and all.

Have to do these exercises again today, need to do sets of them once more. Better go.

Morning ladies,

Have a busy day or at least morning. Weight Watchers meeting and cleaning crew will be here early because we have a Christmas Lunch given by the police department for the senior men and women who volunteer to help them out on the streets. Bill has been a member since the late 90's. The high school choir come and put on a performance and of course the lunch + the chief talks to the group.

The weather is crisp and cold for us, only 44 now but it will reach 65. We are getting ready for another big storm on Wednesday.

Gloria - I agree after a sleet storm it looks pretty but not to go out in because there always is ice under the snow. After the plow would go down the road (Michigan), we had a sheet of ice to slip around in and I don't like it when the car goes sideways.

Irene - having the outdoor lights always makes the house look inviting. Many nights we just get into our car and drive around to admire the decorations.

Mel - will you be getting our next storm up north?

Waving to Karen, Lynda, Roz Bev Anne and Jan emoticon

emoticon Good morning, friends. I got up by alarm clock at 6, feeling good. Yesterday we had an 'ice storm.' We had rain, freezing rain, snow, strong winds. Lots of icicles hanging on tree branches, which looks beautiful. Also ice on my windows and the front windows of parked cars. I will be very careful when I go out this morning, there may be ice beneath the snow.

Carol, hooray for getting your tree up and decorated! Mine is a table top tree but I have my table full of things right now! Must clear it off and get it decorated. You have a true Christmas spirit and remind me so much of my daughter Sue!

Lynda, we had a blast of winter yesterday. I'll have to be careful when I go out this morning, there will be ice beneath the snow. Don't forget our trip on my special birthday!
emoticon

Mel, I'm no expert knitter, I did it when my children were little because I loved to do it for them, then kept at it when they became adults because my girls would ask me for winter mitts, scarfs, etc. Now it is something to occupy my hands but I can't keep at it all the time, I take long, long breaks, months, even a couple of years, lol. What a beautiful idea to decorate Nick's tree! Lights that light up will be so beautiful on it too!!

Irene, how delightful that you'll be staying with another son over Christmas! No, no need to decorate if you won't be there, Mike either. But do enjoy yourself, by the sounds of your messages, you don't go and stay with other children so be prepared to have a wonderful time. This isn't a medical week for you right now??

I'm getting off computer shortly, got my bed made, had breakfast, now need to figure what to wear that will be suitable for physio and also shopping, just in case I can get my son's wife to take me to shop for my niece's Christmas gift! Well, you never know unless you ask, eh?

Enjoy your Monday, the first one of December. See you later!

Hello on Monday , yes itís December now. I will not be here for Christmas, Mike neither, he is going to see his own family over the holiday. I will stay with another son and wife.
Itís not worth putting decorations up in the house , but we are planning up on putting lighting up on a small fir tree in the front garden. I sent for outdoor lights on battery and on a timer from Amazon , they should be safe and we can sort the timer to be on even when we are away. .
Over the weekend I met a new neighbour, I took her a card and small poinsettia plant to welcome her to the road. I think we will get on alright. sheís looking after her husband after a stroke. They moved house as it has a bathroom suitable for a disabled person .
Itís gone very cold with frosty nights. Stay well. Irene

Carol, love that you are a Christmas Carol! I used to be that way but now not so much.
I still like to create an Advent wreath and the decor that goes with that. Today is supposed to be the first day of Advent, and I still need to get my candles out.

We are doing an out door tree this year using a tree that our son, since deceased, had planted and is now large enough and is a beautiful light green evergreen of some kind. We talked about running an electric line over across the yard for Christmas lights for Nick's tree. Hope we get that done today or tomorrow.

Gloria, I get off of the knitting thing and can go at least a year without doing a thing. I was never prolific with the projects but just a few sweaters and hats and scarves and throws. Never got to be an expert.

Karen I missed the part about your hearing aid. Will go back and read.

Irene, glad you are doing so well lately and your doctors are so pleased! Did your outing with yr son go well for you. Delightful to get out and about a certain amount during the Christmas season and so happy for you that you have a great son who also makes a very lovely companion. He is a treasure!

Our storms did not prevail over our power system last night though the winds blew strong and the trees bowed low! Thankful we still have heat and lights!

Time to take Rokki out for a walk while it is still warm enough. The days are so short now it is easy to fail to leave enough time to get a good walk done!

Here's a big scoop of blessings for everyone's First of December! emoticon

Morning ladies,

We put up the tree and now it is decorated....but I have all the wreaths, table top ornaments etc etc. all over the kitchen and living room. I have soooo much stuff because I am truly a Christmas Carol. Just love the season, and love all the decorations. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Problem is that the cleaning crew is coming tomorrow, so I can't just relax and debate to much where I want it to go.

Waving to all, will chat more later today or tomorrow emoticon

Mel, my tummy is fine today, thank you for the good wishes. Is your scarf a long one that goes around your neck twice or one to tuck in your coat? Keeping fingers crossed that your power stays on tonight!

Carol, yes I knit but not much these days and can go a whole year without doing any knitting! I knit my baby's outfits, mitts & hats of course when they were children and some pullovers. Made pullovers for my daughters when they were adults and mitts, they'd ask me every winter for some new ones, lol. I also have a couple small lap blankets for myself on the go and haven't touched them in a long while. Can't seem to get back at them for some reason. Did you get any decorating done today?

Karen, I'm glad you're feeling better today. Who will set up your new hearing aid for you? That does sound like a good buy. I won't tell you what my hearing device cost, it was out of this world but means the word to me, being stone deaf and able to hear with it!!

I have my stamped Christmas cards sitting on the table, ready to be mailed next week. Also cleaned my bird's cage and did my daily chores. Probably laundry tomorrow. I'm 'thinking out loud' again, better call it a night. Sleep well.

Carol, with this Super Bulky yarn I need to use mt 13 needles to make the guage come out right. Also to help the scarf seem less compacted and more fluid although it still seems a bit stiff right now. Hope that eases out in the end.

Raining and the tall Pines are swaying pretty profoundly. Holding our breath about our power as many are without it right now.

Karen, with our good books and crosswords we ought to be in great shape this winter!
Gloria, I hope your tummy is doing better by now.

Night night every one,
Mel

Morning ladies,

Moving much slower than I would like, gotta clean off the kitchen table where papers go to die emoticon

Fun time - we are getting down the tree and all the Xmas decorations. Thank goodness it isn't raining because the decorations are on the shelves in the garage and we have a large patio between garage and kitchen. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Temp high will be only 59 and that is really cold for us

Karen - will you take them to hearing place to have adjusted?

Gloria - I didn't realized that you knit

Mel - we are on tap to get those storms tomorrow. With bulky yarn are you using 13 size needles or going with 11?

Lyndia - you truly have the coldest temperatures. Hmmm, maybe you can get the elves to work outside

Roz - I know English is your primary language but do many speak Spanish?

Irene - enjoy breakfast out and see the lights

Waving to all emoticon

Mel... I sure hope you have no power outage. I love corn muffins. I made some yesterday but mine were out of a box so not as good as yours. I have been recording movies off of the free days my cable offers. I have lots of books & magazines to read & some crossword puzzle books so I will not be bored this winter.

Irene... How nice that you get that extra 300 for your heat bills.

I did some Christmas shopping on Amazon yesterday. I was pleased to see special prices on TENS unit so I bought one for my sister. My biggest purchase was for myself. They offered hearing aids for $70.00 each. Regularly $200. I have tried cheaper ones before without success so not sure they will work for me but decided to try. The reviews were mostly 5 stars so I guess they work for many. Fingers crossed!

I was exhausted yesterday so missed out on birthday celebrations for my great grandsons. I am feeling better today so will try to get some work done around the house.

Enjoy your day!

By the way, we are expecting storms to come through our town and area starting this morning and lasting at least through the end of today. That is the weather alert that came out last night. I am so hoping there will be no more power outages, but not much faith to go with the hope! Have to batten down the hatches once again!

Gloria, No we only went out for pie and coffee! We totally did without "turkey and fixins" this time around and we were fine with it.

I started knitting a scarf last night with yarn I had bought at a store's close-out sale months ago over in Ukiah. The yarn is acrylic and is a heavy weight called I think, "super bulky." It is a nice gray named, interestingly, Chicago Charcoal. I went on line and found an easy breezy pattern as I don't want to struggle with anything too complex. It is just for relaxing in the living room in front of the fireplace with DH on long wintery evenings. If I like the way it turns out it can be a gift for someone in the family this Christmas. I also bought a booklet of over one hundred crossword puzzles I can use for sitting around the same way. DH watches various sports or we may watch a nature program on t.v. but rarely ever a drama for whatever reason. I read some but like to have other options. How about the rest of you on long winter evenings?

Going to bake some corn meal muffins this morning for snacking purposes. Using good coarse corn meal from Bob's Red Mill company. I just got a hankering for cornbread, Could actually fix corn cakes which would be good as well.

Hope you all have a good weekend,
Mel

emoticon Good morning. I feel a lot better today but not 100% yet. A weekend to recuperate should see me okay to go for physio on Monday. Taking it easy on the high fiber food for a couple of days.

Jan, it will take a while to recover your strength after a bout with pneumonia, keep taking care of yourself. And how wonderful of your oldest son to do so much for the family meal.

Bev Anne, we are suppose to get snow tomorrow but will be in the 30's F for at least another week! That is lovely weather, eh? I hope the snow holds off where you are, at least till you have your eye appt.

Carol, I had totally forgotten about the BRAT diet! It would have helped. Lots of gabbing and laughing at family gatherings makes it so special when we all get together, glad you enjoyed your day.

Karen, thank you. I'm Lactose Intolerant and it can be difficult at times when so many products have milk in them. But I'm sure it was all the cabbage soup, coleslaw & green salads that did it to me. I will have to spread those kind of food out more and not have them all at once!

Mel, did you go out for supper for Thanksgiving? A quiet night last night sounds great.

Irene, it really is too cold to stand outdoors to see the Christmas lights turned on. You'll be able to see them other nights without having to stand there and wait. I pay for my lens and frames also but always choose ones I really like. I hope you make out better with this next eye test.

Roz, it's a good idea for families to get together at any time of the year and give thanks. We do have so much to be thankful for. How are you yourself doing these days?

Lynda, you do have it colder than me, being further north. Stay in as much as you can and keep warm. Other than snow shoveling, there shouldn't be anything else to be done outdoors.

I'll get my daily chores done, maybe my bird's cage and water my plants, etc. Just regular things and that's relaxing for me.

Hello to each of you, hugs coming your way from me. Enjoy your Saturday and weekend.

Gd morning Everyone.

Good to know that most of you had a lovely Thanksgiving.
Sorry about those who are not too well but that too will pass remember God is in control.

It's not celebrated in Trinidad but persons do celebrate personal thanksgivings here at any time of the year for a specific reason where one invites family and friends to your home a prayer meeting is held followed by the eating and sharing of the meal ,,,that's what we call thanksgiving.

Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm
Stay blessed.
Much Love Roz.

Hello on Saturday , its very cold weather just now, frosty nights have started . The Christmas lights in our small town were switched on last evening. I would like to to have gone to see it , but it involved a lot of standing around in cold weather. I thought I would rather stay home and be warm.
I am glad I rang about another eye test, itís the lens I do not feel is right for me. I am often taking my glasses off, trying to manage without them. Eye tests are free. If you are on social benefits there is a grant towards the cost of glasses . I am self: sufficient so I pay for glasses.
Every old age pensioner though in any circumstance gets a grant towards heating costs in winter I got mind recently £300. Very Handy , a pound is much the same as a dollar now I think .
Mike and I plan on going to look at Christmas lights in another town this morning and have breakfast out , enjoy your day. Irene

We may or may not go to a movie tonight. I am happy to just hang out at home.

Morning ladies,

Woke up early and already had my coffee and breakfast. Leaving to join the crowds on this Black Friday shopping day. Just a few stores - honest, really, I mean it emoticon

Had a wonderful time at my nephews lots of laughing going on for sure. The skies opened up all day with sheets of rain mixed in. Good thing I had a slicker, with the winds umbrella would have been useless.

Weather today is mixed sunny and then rain burst through. Boy am I super cold, just can't warm up - have so many clothes on, I almost can't move. The temperature will only have a high of 56....brrrrrrr, sure not a good time to be homeless, I understand the shelters were packed.

Bev Anne - wow, don't think I would survive any more in your cold temperatures

Jan - so sorry to read you had pneumonia, such a serious illness. Your oldest son is fantastic

Gloria - remember the BRAT food plan when your stomach and bowels are just acting up - B-banana, R-rice, A-applesauce, T- tea

Lynda - be careful outside cleaning up

Irene - hope you get the glasses straighten out - frames off, prescription off????

Karen - wow 28 people, did you all eat in different rooms?

Waving to all, enjoy your Saturday

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

One day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day

Our current temperature is -25 C (-13 F) but it is supposed to go up to -13 C (9 F) by this afternoon. However, it is a beautiful sunny day! The 14-day forecast shows the temperatures up around the freezing point and no more snow -- just sun. I hope that weather lasts a few more days since I have an eye appointment in Calgary on Dec 16

Good morning,

Towards the beginning of November I came down with pneumonia and I'm still regaining my strength. I keep hearing it takes time. I'm so glad to be feeling better and listen to my body when I need to rest. Thankfully my oldest son did that huge crunch of mashing potatoes, making gravy, carving turkey and making dressing. There was help with the clean up, too. A nice family gathering.

Irene, I'm glad you can have your own day of Thanksgiving. A friend of mine wasn't happy with her new prescription and went to a second optometrist. She was talked into one kind of lenses even though she knew with her vision she needed another kind. After the plastic lenses didn't work for her they replaced them with glass ones and all is well. It's worth asking.

Gloria, Sorry you aren't feeling well and will miss physio today. Take care.

Lynda, It's cold here but not as cold as where you are!

Change of plans for today - came over not feeling well and can't stay out of the bathroom so of course physio had to be cancelled. Dang, I had looked forward to it but will have the weekend to recuperate and will be able to keep Monday's appointment.

Lynda, I saw that you have loads of shoveling to do, please take lots of breaks, take care of yourself!

I'll be back later.

emoticon Hello on this Friday morning. I'm kind of rushing around, will be out of here in 2 hours and still need to shower, dress, etc. Physio this morning and I hope that goes well.

Irene, is it your frames or lens that you're not happy with? I love my frames but thought I should have stronger lens, the optician said 'no' so what can we do then, eh? I never eat a big Christmas dinner at my son's and no one pushes food on me. They eat buffet style with all the food laid out on kitchen table, you fix a plate then take it in to dining room table. Just take what you know you like and will eat, it may be wise to talk to your granddaughter if she is one who tries to get you to take more.

Hello to everyone. I think I'm rushing too much, making lots of typo errors, excuse any that aren't fixed. Be back later today.

Enjoy a fabulous Friday, the last one of November!

Hello on Friday. A cold dry frosty day in Uk. We donít have an official thanksgiving but I give me own thanks giving each day.
Hard to grasp that November is almost over. I must start thinking of Christmas. Though donít want to.
I am realising now I have listen to my body more re resting and eating. Eating small amounts of food regularly suits me best now. I dread the thought of a huge Christmas dinner. Itís at my grand daughters this year. I will have a word with her to let me just chose what I can eat and donít push more on me .
I am going to phone my optician I am not happy with my glasses. They cost a lot so I think we must be sure they suit us , Have a good day. Irene

Lynda, 24 here tonight, will go up to 34 tomorrow! Winter weather!

Carol, I'm so glad you felt good today and was able to go to your nephew's for Thanksgiving. Oh, those pumpkin pies and whipped cream are a Must!

Jan, good to see you. How are you keeping these days?

Bev Anne, some animals do fret in cars, it's good that CariŮa didn't, she'll be okay going to the vets. I don't know what the boxes are on the shelf below TV, I really don't know how to do anything when it comes to recording. And I'm not too interested in doing that anyway, my husband used to tape hockey games, etc., but I'm okay to watch things as they come on TV. If I miss them, I miss them. But thank you, I appreciate you wanting to help me.

Karen, that was a lot of people at your daughter's home, Wow. How nice that would be. If you get a storm this weekend, sure hope it isn't a big one!!

I baked my two fruit cakes for Christmas and right now they are on racks to completely cool so I can wrap them in saran wrap then foil wrap and refrigerate them till next month. I will cut each in half, my two daughters will share one cake and I'll share the other with my son and his wife. My children truly love mom's fruit cake at Christmas, always have!

I'll be up and out in the morning by 9:30 so if I don't get in here before that, I'll pop in when I get back home. I go for physiotherapy tomorrow and am anxious to see how I do with it. Then I have the weekend to get over this session and go back on Monday. I'm sure it will work out okay.

Goodnight everyone, sleep well. For those of you who celebrated today, have happy dreams of your family get together!

Hope it has been a Happy Thanksgiving for you. We had 28 people at my daughters. It was a lovely carry-in meal.

Irene...Glad you got such a good Dr report. I bundle up good when I go out. I like to dress in layers. Always I wear my gloves since I have poor circulation in hands.

Gloria... I record many shows. It is very easy. Sometimes If I am watching a program I just push the record button & come back later to watch it & skip the commercials. Like Bev Ann said, you might have access to easy recording. Ask one of your helpers to check it out.

I believe it was Lynda & Mel that reported big weather events. We may get hit on Saturday. My great granddaughter is set to ride or march in the local parade on Saturday but it might get cancelled. She will be disappointed.

Good night

Happy Thanksgiving to all of those who celebrate it today.

Gloria, do you have a PVR -- the box from the cable company that your TV signal comes through? If so, you should be able to record your shows. How many channels do you get?

CariŮa has only been in the car once since we got her (when we brought her home) and she didn't seem to object. We have a small crate for her that we put on the back seat and then strap in with the seatbelt. She likes her little crate and goes in and out of it all the time here at home so I don't think she will be a problem in the car. She may object to the temperature though because it will be -20 C (-4 F) overnight only going up to -12 C (10 F) in the afternoon. However, after this snow stops, we aren't supposed to get any more for the next couple of weeks and the temperatures will go back up to around the freezing mark.

Mel, I'm glad you have a fireplace for when the power goes out -- when we lost power for a couple of days in Nanaimo last year we had no heat at all and ended up staying in a motel the second night because it was too cold in our house. We had electric heat there -- whereas here we are heated by natural gas.

Anyway, I hope you all have a good day whether or not it's Thanksgiving for you.

"Happy Thanksgiving" to all our American friends on this team! Enjoy your day!

Carol, the cakes I'll be baking are fruit cakes, my children always loved them in spite of all the fruit cake jokes, lol. I do think it's because "Mom" made them. I sure hope you're feeling better today? You seldom take a 'jammies' day but if you still feel unwell, take good care of yourself today.

Karen, I hope you were able to get your mac 'n cheese in the pans and are doing better today too. I know that IBS can be debilitating, I had a friend with that at one time.

Bev Anne, it's good you know how to tape shows, I wouldn't have a clue how to do that, have never done it! It was my husband who handled the TV things. His business before he retired was Satellites and Antennas so he did know what he was doing, like you do. Is CariŮa' a good cat in the car? Some cats don't like to be in them.

Oh Mel, I'm so glad you have a fireplace so that you could be reasonably warm when you had no power! As for Thanksgiving, may as well go out to eat if it's just the two of you and if you can find one open, one that will take you with no reservation. As years went by, my husband and I would go out to eat on Christmas Day because our kids all wanted to stay home with their kids. But we weren't too fond of eating out that day, we liked to have leftover turkey in our fridge to nibble on and make sandwiches and meals. Big babies, eh? LOL

Irene, I'm happy to hear that the oncologist was pleased with your results. My sister and also my niece who takes me shopping, both feel the cold and always are bundled up. And my niece is younger than me! I can take the cold much better than heat. It's good to know you're doing well and I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.

I suspect it will be quiet in here with a lot of you either having family for the day or else going to famiy's homes. Whatever you're doing, enjoy your Thanksgiving, those who celebrate today!

Hello to anyone reading and to those sharing their days here with us. Have a wonderful Thursday!

Popping in on Thursday I want to thank everyone who sent prayers and best wishes for the results of the recent scans I had. I am thankful to say the oncology team were very pleased with the results . I feel and look well. They like that and I do look after myself. I admitted to getting tired easier and needing more rests Also I feel the cold more .now. I wear layers of clothes both things were put down to age. No medicine for that . But I was told I was doing doing so well so carry on doing the same
Phew I can now start looking st Christmas events. Irene

It has been a loooong twenty four hours with no electric power but it finally did come back on at about three pm. this afternoon. We had kept a fire going so were less miserable than maybe some other folks who have no fireplace. So grateful that is over at least for now!

I did some in depth studying most of today using my LED lantern at times when the sky was so overcast that I could hardly see the pages.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving of course and I have done no grocery shopping at all. We are considering eating our dinner out, just the two of us and letting the younger folks have their feast by themselves. It will be our very first time if we wind up doing that.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating and Happy Any Old Day to the rest of you!

Good Morning Everyone -- yes it is still morning here.

We did get our car back yesterday but since the snow had already started Gordon just drove her home and parked her in her underground stall. We won't be going out today because there is more snow forecast this afternoon. If the snow has stopped and the roads are clear we may venture out tomorrow afternoon and make a trip to Costco. If not we hope we can get out on Friday because we have an appointment at the vet to get CariŮa's claws clipped and I have an appointment with the optometrist as well. We used to be able to clip our cat's claws ourselves but I don't think her claws have ever been clipped and she has not reacted well to our attempts -- hopefully, after she gets used to the process we will be able to do it ourselves. Right now her claws are getting caught in everything and causing her distress.

I tape all the TV shows I want to watch so I can zip through the commercials -- I have been doing that since we got our first VCR more than 30 years ago -- back then I could only tape 6 hours worth per cassette so I had to keep track of what was on which tapes and change them when necessary -- then when we came back from Ecuador in 2007 we learned about PVRs which came into being while we were away. Even if I find a show at the last minute I will hit record and go and do something else for about half an hour and then come back and watch it without the commercials.

Well, I have some projects to keep me busy -- and our cleaning lady is coming this afternoon -- so I should go and do what needs doing on this snowy day.

Since Thanksgiving is tomorrow, itís okay to eat whatever I want. Everybody else will be doing that, too.

Morning ladies,

We went to Costco yesterday and wow, wee, wow. Now I go there weekly but never have I seen such a crowd. We finally found a parking spot at the every end of the huge center and thankful to do so, it was truly amazing.

I don't feel well this morning, tired and voice is about 4 octaves lower. So I am not going to Stretch and Flex but staying home and having a "jammie day". Tomorrow we go to my nephews and I won't go if ill so...Ö

Our storm is starting - it is pouring in LA and now working it's way to Orange County and is raining big blops and the high will only be 60

Karen - Love your attitude, regardless....life is good

Gloria - wow, you sure have a busy week. What kind of cakes - fruit cake????

Lynda - wow a great picture

Mel - be safe, I like the idea of LED lanterns - I need to get some supplies in case of the "big one"

Bev Anne - we really enjoy America's got talent - tape it so I can zip through the commercials. Did you get your car?

Irene - are you feeling better and steady on your feet?

Roz and Dot - hope all is well in your world?

Waving to all emoticon

Hello

It is very windy here too. Power is out in a community near me. Glad we are not getting snow!I Hope you on the west coast do not get hit too bad.

I have 2 large pans waiting to be filled with mac & cheese.

My IBS has decided to flair up but hopefully I will get to the kitchen this afternoon. Yes, I am a mess but life is still good.

I will try to check in later to see how you are all doing.

emoticon Good morning!

Oh my, I was too busy and tired to come in last night and look at the very nice messages yesterday! I'm glad to see you all in here, sharing your days with us. I had a wonderful day out with my niece yesterday, got almost all my Christmas gifts bought, also got the makings for my Christmas cakes and will probably make them this weekend. But this is an extra busy week for me, someone coming this morning and also nurse friend coming this afternoon to do my feet. Tomorrow someone else is coming and on Friday morning I start physiotherapy! Whew, I'm tired already, lol.

Carol, you sure had a busy day too yesterday! The pies will be good to take for the Thanksgiving meal, that's a must for me on Thanksgiving and also Christmas! It is raining here and going up to 50 degrees, wow!

Bev Anne, did you get your car back yesterday? And a snowstorm too? That snow will be early to be staying but our weather is kooky anymore.

Karen, we had a beautiful day yesterday, sunny and it must have reached 50! How do we figure out the weather anymore, it really is weird. Ohh, your mac 'n cheese sounds delicious, would love to have some! No, I don't watch that program, sorry.

Mel, that was wonderful what you did for the great grands! Oh yeah, eating in restaurant sure costs plenty but what a treat for them and you too! That's how memories are made, bet you all had a good gab fest while eating! I have one of those battery lanterns and good flashlight also and they give off good light when needed - I hope that storm isn't too bad for you, let me know how it is and how you're doing with it, please.

Lynda, that picture looks just like you two - I love it! Who painted it? Stay safe in the storm and stay in as much as you can. We were to get a storm but are getting light rain right now. Dismal day though.

I have to go and get some daily chores done before anyone comes. Be back later on. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

'Tis raining here. We are expecting our first storm of the winter and I do believe it is cranking itself up now. I went to the hardware store and purchased three LED lanterns that run on batteries. We have plenty of firewood and plenty of food. So if the power goes out we should be ok. Before I got the LED lanterns we just used flashlights and a candle or two. These new lanterns should kick it up a notch as far as convenience and comfort. I hear you can read by them.

Soooo cold today. I have our heater turned up to 68 degrees right now.

Karen home made mac and cheese sounds great!

Bev, stay warm from the snow!

Gloria, I know you will enjoy yr day out! Oh yes, to answer your question about taking the kids to lunch. I did and the bill came to 89.00 before tax and tip! I was a bit surprised. DH is usually the one to take everyone and pay so I was not expecting the big bill! Oh well. It was a special outing I was doing for them getting new shoes and socks so I will chalk it up to fun with the great grands. One of these days I may not be around to do fun outings with them. Not to be sordid, just realistic.

Irene, Carol, Roz, and all others, hope it is warm and dry where you are!
