Bro's room was cleared out last week! So happy! Still need to take down the funky drapes. I vacuumed and mopped.

I envision a massage table in the room with essential oils so that I can give reiki to my family and friends!

Scheduled movers to empty my brother's basement room. Prepped for it. Junk haulers will move it away.

It will be nice to get the dust out...old school paperwork, etc.

I gave up sugar again. Perhaps it will stick this time. I have been more active in the house too, 2alking and climbing stairs.

I also played Jesus, Joy of Man's Desire on the piano today! I haven't played in a long time and was starting to lose the ability to read music!

My most resent success is learning that I CAN do OMAD. For the last four weeks I have been doing OMAD and I never thought I could do that.

Massive victory today!!

Was struggling all morning with cravings. All kinds of "the hell with it, I'm eating toast" thinking. (I didn't give in, but I did learn how important my morning warm drink ritual (tea, etc.) is.)

I also adjusted my fasting timer BACK 2 hours to be an only 18 hour fast instead of 20 so I could eat 2 hours sooner. NOT a good morning. :(

But it snowed last night. And I got to go out and shovel snow. My favorite exercise of all time. (I live where we get only occasional snow. 2-4 good snows a season.) And I got to do an AMAZING full body workout for an hour! (I'm a sedentary person.) And I came in and was NOT HUNGRY anymore! And had no cravings anymore!! Not only didn't I eat after 18hrs, but went for 20 hours and 20 minutes!!!

I feel amazing! AND I am not cold and shaky like I usually am! AND I've learned that a good workout can STOP the cravings! And that I can work for an hour and feel GREAT!! Since I started in winter, this is the first real big physical work that I've done since I started this.

So lessons learned:

DON'T skip my morning tea!
Exercise can stop cravings! AND
Being fat adapted is wonderful!

Wishing ALL of you as joyful of a day as I am having!!

Did my first 24 hour fast today!

Have been working up from 16/8 to 18/6 and now 20/4. Today I ‘accidentally’ went to 23.5 hours! Just didn’t have time to eat and wasn’t hungry.

I love how the more I do this, the easier it is!

Staying the course! Still leaning toward lower carb, nutrient rich foods.

Being sick makes fasting easy! Perhaps it is a good way to start the new year? I have to see my situation positively. emoticon

I keep falling off Fung and haven't been eating the Wahl's veggies.

Sis brought carb laden treats in the house. It is sometimes too tempting as it is the holidays. Well, I have no excuse! I will stay the course!

With my health condition, eating sweets and other junk actually hurts me, and can hurt my ability to walk. This is serious stuff!

Today, I fixed a veggie scramble with colorful veggies! Yay!

I also did a lower leg PT workout...another yay!

Just finished my first week of this and I am down FIVE pounds! My scale hasn't budged in a year! 5.1 pounds!!! (happy dance)

I'm eating all Keto in preparation for longer fasting.
I've moved my first meal from 11ish to 1-ish three weeks earlier than planned.
I can't believe how FULL I am all the time! Every meal is a fat source, a little protein, and enough no-carb veggies for bulk.
I'm tracking everything right now because I'm learning what a Keto diet looks like. (The tracker is my training wheels)
Even though I feel like I am STUFFING myself, I am at the low end of my daily calories even with all that fat!!!
All that rich fatty foods (sour cream, butter, cream cheese, etc.) was a lot of fun at first, I found I really missed crackers/chips to put them on. Then I found PARMESAN CRIPS, my new best friend!

I am SUCH A CONVERT!! I believed going in that this would work, but I didn't know how QUICKLY it would work and I didn't know how EASY it would be, and I didn't know how all that fat would make me FULL ALL THE TIME!! Wish I'd tried this years ago!

When I get to 1 meal a day I'm going straight to Alt Day Fasting! (I had planned for that to happen next month, now it looks like it will be next week!!

I am so HAPPY! I feel like my weight and health are under my control again!!

Wishing every one of you a little joy today!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hazel,

Even though I'm as new as you, I have one hint! I listen to a Jason Fung YouTube video while making Carb-Food for kids and hubby. It gives me that little bit of motivation to stave off temptation!!! Especially breakfast since I TRYING not to eat until at least 11!!!

It's easier not to "lick the spoon" when listening to how bad sugar is!!! emoticon LOL!!

Today was my 9th day on IF... I am getting into it and liking it. I am tracking my food and always have #'s left so I know I have cut back on intake. I am eating food that is "better for me " and that has to count for something....! ! !

I am reading lots of information and finding there are so many opinions and ways to "do" IF... What I like about IF is that I can make it fit my needs and schedule, so far I have done well with it...

I appreciate all the posts team members have made that are so informative... Your wealth of information is certainly a plus...! ! !

I am looking forward to Day 10 and beyond...! ! ! ...........HAZEL2278

I am back on my good Fung regime! My blood glucose shows it!

I don't have the appetite to eat all the veggies Dr Wahl's recommends for my condition, but I do eat a greater variety to try to fulfill the green, color, and sulfur categories!

This is so "minor" that I'm not sure if I should post it. But since I've been struggling to get back into a fasting routine and allow my body a chance to heal, I've decided to take this 24 hrs at a time.
And if I have a healthy snack, and then keep pushing through, then that's what I'm doing.

So, I'm at the end of day #2.
My only concern is that I will "hose" the rest of my metabolism, further than it already is?!? I believe that can happen with a low-calorie intake, as opposed to just water fasting.

But I have to start somewhere.

* Feel free to make suggestions or add a link or so that would indicate that my thinking is "faulty"?!?

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Able to confirm that this seems to fall under "Alternate Day Fasting". The key for me will be if I can sustain this?! ~ It seems to fit & help me break the constant eating that has been happening!

Did a lot of household chores today, heavy house work, shampooed the bedroom rug, several loads of laundry, 3 flights of steps.

Stopped eating my 6 pm which is unlike me. Hopefully, I can get a lot of fasting hours in as my BG was so high today! My fever is back.

I am incorporating more veggies. I did a pork soup with fresh dill and fresh arugula. It was excellent!

I did very well until I lost my appetite!

Must get back to it. We are having lots of nice salads, spring mix, arugula, homegrown tomatoes, and fresh lemon juice. It supports my leafy green requirement. I eat colorful fruit for my color category, and I need more sulfur based veggies. After they recalled onions, I stopped eating them.

I have eggplant and mushrooms to fix for tomorrow!

Moving more is good. I have been moving more in the house and taking the steps more as I am cleaning out a room downstairs. It will serve as the pantry.

Today I am back on track! Last night the book club finale was carrot cake with icing, which I made! I am fasting now, had only black coffee this morning and for lunch, and will have a nice healthy dinner tonight. All is not lost!

Had a 17 hour fast! It really lowered my appetite today, (and so did my pneumonia vaccine). emoticon

I sleep pretty well these days, too.

I am incorporating other protocols with Fung, like the Wahl's protocol for autoimmune conditions and MS.

Wahl has one eating so many veggies, that my little rash that I had for years turned into a big itchy rash. I am doing further research on a low histamine diet and improving.

It is funny how improving your diet in some ways can make other issues crop up. At least there is research out there about these new fangled conditions!

I have been I.F. for about a month. In that time I have cut my B/P meds in half and lost 10lbs. I've never slept so well through the night. I had been a middle insomniac sleeping from about 9-12, wide awake between 12-3, and then try to sleep until at least 6am. Now I sleep until the call of nature around 11, and am able to go right back to sleep until my alarm goes off!

I was overdoing at first worrying about dehydration that my urine was actually clear. However, after my kidney gave me some warning signs and I did some more reading I am back on the right track. I average 80oz on non-eating days and 60oz on eating days.

I feel my whole body is now on the right track. I actually feel hungry when off the fasting protocol; a sensation I've never let myself feel before.

Another day older. Another day bolder.

Hi, I am back on Spark. My greatest success was stopping, after 50 years, counting calories and believing that it was my fault for being obese all my life. Even after losing 100 and 150 pounds I gained most back and now understand that despite the social and self-judgments, it is not my fault. I began dabbling in meditation two years ago and intermittent fasting about that time, too? And I think the stars are lining up for me to commit to both iin a stronger way than ever. This is so not about food and excercise. To me, it is about knowing my place in the world.

I have yet to be consistent over time (beyond "months"). STRESS is the trigger that kicks me out of doing what works for me. -- At those times, it seems that something else "controls" my actions, responses, and eating.

I have just completed 60 days of intermittent fasting, eating two meals per day, removing breads and processed foods, and no snacking after dinner. I’m down 25 pounds! I aimed for 1,200 calories (with fewer carbs, which naturally increased fats and proteins), but most days I was slightly lower as it seemed like too much food at one sitting. The morning hungry sensation does pass and reminds me that my body is getting energy from within. The first month I aimed for a 16/8 schedule. The second month I challenged myself with an 18/6 schedule, extending to a 20/4 on occasion. I now find it easy to say “no” to refined carbs and sweets. I think I have found my secret to success. Month #3, here I come!

Here's a place to share what's working for each of us and how we are applying what we know and are learning!
