I cut sugar out of my diet because of a health scare. When you get scared enough, you can do anything!

ANNEHENLEY I find that when I eat a lot of sugar, processed food or high fat food, I don't feel well and sleep poorly. I think our bodies are trying to tell us something!

Hi team,

How do you track "met your IF goal 1 time per day" when you have a planned off day? It feels odd to check the box when I didn't fast but it is part of my plan. I usually have 1 off day per week but it breaks my streak if I leave it unchecked on the tracker..... #firstworldproblems #nolifelol

Hello all. I left an intro under that section. :)

Paint the World, water fasting is only "hard" the first 2 days or so. Once you reach day 3 it gets much easier, imho.

I just switched from IF (16:8) to cycling through that and OMAD, heavy on the OMAD. I'm WFPB and somewhat LC (try to keep it to 100-150g daily) as well. One issue that I"m having is getting enough calories in on OMAD which is why I'm cycling. I'd like to learn to get all my calories in OMAD without feeling stuffed and eating too many carbs.

Anyone have any meal ideas?

I have been doing 16:8. Has anyone has any intestinal distress while doing this? I've had a couple of nights when I consumed less calories during my 8 hours of eating than normal and I've been cramping in the evening. Trying to figure out if it's the quantity that's causing it or if it's due to what I'm eating

I think I have the same goal as you do capecodlight - I want to go from obese to overweight by Thanksgiving. 10 pounds. It's a little ambitious for me but will try. I'm a new empty nester so have more control over my eating now.

I do dinner. Once I eat something I get hungry again later. I try to wait til 5pm and eat whatever I want until 6pm (I don't have junk food in my house though and I get full so I never really over do it). If I'm going out to dinner I try to wait til then to eat. If I am really uncomfortable though at around 3 or 4 I will have a granola bar or something because I get worried I will eat too much at dinner time. The first week is the hardest but then I am able to deal with the ebb and flow of hunger pretty well. If i feel hungry during the day I give it an hour and it usually dissipates pretty quickly. If it doesn't though and I'm uncomfortable, I will eat. So then those are the days that I don't do OMAD. I follow my body's lead. So while I try to do it every day, in reality I probably do it 5 times a week. I have more energy in general when I do OMAD, and it's cheaper and I like being able to eat whatever I want each day (I know that's not how it's supposed to be), so I never feel deprived. I'm only on day 2 right now but I feel great and since I've done it before, it's not that hard.

I tried 5:2 and I tried 36 hour fasts on Sundays (plus 18:6 or other most other days). I found 5:2 challenging because I still had to decide what to eat and how much and stuff. OMAD takes decision making out which is important for me.

Would love to do extended fast but I haven't been able to and I don't want to torture myself. If it's not easy, I'm not going to stick with it.

Good luck!
Jodi

P-T-W - which meal do you do? Have you tried different ones? And, (sorry for all the Qs) do you do this every day of the week? I am going to continue with my 5:2, but I am curious about how the OMAD works for future consideration.

Hello! I am new to this team. Been on and off SP since 2014..... Was doing different types of IF for about a year (and loved it) when I had to stop because my world collapsed. Getting back to taking care of myself now - trying to do OMAD which is my favorite way to do IF. It seems to work best for me. I try to do it everyday but hope to do it at least 5x a week. I hope to be more active again on SP. The support is great.

Good news Kitten-351. I am about six weeks into IF doing a 5:2. Some fasting days are easier than others for me, but overall it is working well.

IF isn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be! Almost a week in and I've lost almost 3pounds. The discipline is making it easy for me not to overeat and I feel great.

I thought maybe going back to a former lifestyle would be beneficial; however, for me, it is best to go along with life -- sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less, hours according to natural cycle that don't follow a time schedule ... this is best for me.

All the best to each of you, SparkHugs.

I have been getting back into OMAD recently. I find it a lot easier than doing IF and more effective. Especially since I ALWAYS have a tendency to eat more at night. Saving my calories keeps me within goal and let's me satisfy that compulsion.

My name is Oli, and I am a recovering fataholic.

I use to fast in a specific time period, just like with fitness;
however life has changed, so I use fasting as a reminder
that I will be okay. Some times there is more food, sometimes
less & to work within the day that is given without being
overly worried regarding food availability -- we are provided for.

My life had gotten a bit chaotic & changed significantly;
so now, seeing as there's a bit more order to things,
that I will be able to do for me within it all.

Regarding fitness, I realized doing cardio & strength in the
kitchen makes it easier, as I'm not bothered cause people
just think I'm doing chores or something.

For myself, I kind of allow the day, food availability, schedule/chores
to dictate; a natural state of being without going overboard on my side.

Hope that makes sense.

There are lots of varying reasons for fasting.

Here's a space to discuss the above, as well as,
