Nope! Not looking at that finger! Lol I'm a wuss when it comes to seeing injuries. I haven't been injured much myself, which is probably partly why.

Laurie, driving without a right arm? I hope it wasn't a stick.

Carol, we used to have a person in our camping group who would set up a solar system with a marine battery at Pennsic. He volunteered as event staff and needed his power tool batteries charged to do his building tasks. The rest of us benefited with phone charging hahaha

I'm back from the Pennsic war! Aside from the car rides to and from, RJ did very very well. I expect my work will be cut out for me this week as he wonders where all the people went. Silly boy had adoring fans everywhere we went! It was super cute and he just smiled at all of them. Our camp neighbors even brought him a little lamb toy and asked that we try to camp next to them again next year

Ouch Lynn, that finger!! I fell off horses on a regular basis as a kid but never managed to break or dislocate anything. The worst horse related injury I had was standing up under an electric fence wire and getting zapped on the top of my head. Knocked me on my ass, but otherwise uninjured. And I never dislocated anything until I fell off a sled on an icy hill while I was out with my kids when they were little. It was quite an adventure getting back up the hill, getting everything and everybody back in the car, and driving home when my right arm was completely useless. emoticon

Heather, glad the girl drama seems to have abated. I always tried to teach my kids to recognize drama and manipulation and just walk away.

I can't even read the news anymore. It makes me physically ill. I skim headlines and that's about it. So much hate and anger and violent death. I can't deal with it. Gun laws will change when Congress no longer lives in the pocket of the NRA.

That is probably the one and only political statement you will ever hear me utter.

Lynn,

I was a modern dancer when I was a teen and used to break or dislocate a toe now and then. You just wonk it back and tape 'em together...

I don't think you were on a soap box...we need to all adopt a different attitude on keeping young men from killing people.

We're going to pick up our metal roofing and siding for our storage building! Yesterday we wrapped in Tyvek and that was fun. We're building it to fire code, which is smart in California...but way more steps. I've talked hubby into doing metal roofs on both this and the art studio. I'm going to build a catch basin system for rain water to water our plants and solar panels that are grid interactive with a battery back up. We're studying up on solar installations. I bought a book that teaches you how to become a solar system installer and we're both feeling good about it. Tom has decided to try building a battery only system on the storage building and I think it's a great idea! My sister, daughter and I are going to build 3 tiny houses with solar systems so the storage building will be good practice.

Hi girls... So sorry I'm so sporadic! Missed the girl drama...but having boys, I didn't have too much of that. Can see it with my granddaughter already though....AT AGE 7! LOL. Not often...just girl stuff. What is it with us females? Hormones? CAROL...I so agree...what the heck does anyone need a semi automatic for?!?!?!?! I said that once at a staff social when I was working at an elementary school. One of the teachers admitted they had them and they love doing target shooting with them. SERIOUSLY?????? OK...Off my soapbox!

I had slowly started to get back into swimming after another bought of rotator cuff impingement. 2 1/2 months of physical therapy!!!! Orthopedic doc said if I have it a 3rd time, it's MRI time and possible surgery! So I'm hoping to not have a strike 3. It's 97% healed and it bothers me slightly when I swim. But it recovers very nicely which the P.T. was happy with. So....what happened next? I DISLOCATED MY FINGER IN A FALL ON AN UNEVEN SIDEWALK! Good Gravy !!!! I'll post a photo at the end. This is just to warn you if you hate looking at such things. No blood. Just weird! ER doc put it back in its place. X rays showed no break but I did tear my ligament and have to buddy tape it. But get this...NO SWIM RESTRICTION as long as it's buddy taped and I don't smash it against the wall. In fact, I have very little restrictions! He said bad as it looks, many athletes in sports involving a ball will dislocate their fingers on the field, run to the sideline and have a trainer pop it back into place, buddy tape it, and get right back on the field! Wrestlers also are prone to it. Well....at least they have reasons. What the heck...trip over a sidewalk? I'm SO accident prone!!!!!

Amen Carol. Why we allow nearly anyone to purchase a military style assault rifle is beyond my comprehension......

Haha - people have been saying things like that to me...but it's really just because I'm so tan - sigh. You definitely don't know how crazy they might be at that age, it develops over time. I have a sister who "became" psychotic, but she was awful to live with when she was younger...so the seeds of craziness were there.

I read this great article on Baltimore that talked about the issues that they have there and he says that both political sides are trying to simplify a complex issue. Like, why did they take the train away that connected the westside and made it impossible to get to service jobs?... I really hate sounds bites and slogans...

Oh and speaking of that...now we are talking about white killers killing because they played video games?! I'm sorry, that was WAY debunked a number of times...just like caffeine is bad for you - NO it's not.

I was listening to a psychologist who said he'd studied people's reactions to killings and if it was by a minority guy, that was pointed to, but if it was a young white guy, then there had to be a reason... Could we please just get the automatic guns off the street? You don't hunt with those...

Good Morning!! I had a very nice weekend, and I'm looking forward to a short work week. I have Friday off so we can go to VT for Houston's 100 mile bike ride for charity. We are trying to fund raise the $150 required donation to the food bank, but it's always a challenge because it's so specific to VT. Usually I just make the donation, but this year I thought I'd try again, as one year I was able to raise all the funds online. I think there are so many fundraisers that no one pays attention anymore. No worries, it'll still be a lot of fun!!

No more drama from the girls yet, so I think it was a one time thing and I'm not so concerned anymore. As Carol said, it was kinda borderline behavior. I think sometimes we chalk it up to kids being kids, but not everyone is stable, and it seems more are willing to act out on others from their instability, likely as Laurie said from the perceived safety of social media, so you know, you never know what people are capable of. Look at what happened this weekend in El Paso and Dayton. I'm not saying this kid is that unstable, but who knows, right?

On a fitness note, I continue to very slowly drop fat. I'm building muscle from all of my walking, and eating sensibly, and it really shows. People keep mentioning my weight loss, and that I look healthy, and that helps keep the motivation up!!

Have a great day everyone!!!
