Kittens are like handling cacti. They are just super poky and scratchy. You can have them attack your dogs tail until they are tired! The more you interact with the kitten, the better cat you will have. Also, touching it all over when it is tired (especially the stomach) will help it from being aggressive when touched by humans in "the wrong way". Cats are totally different than dogs, they don't really respond to the "yelp" trick like puppies and they don't really want to please you for the sake of it. :) Enjoy!

So much to respond to, so little time, so I'll just say this....

My experience with kittens is that they like to play, a LOT. When my cats were kittens I was always scratched up, just no real way around that if you interact with them. And I think you really need to interact with them and wear them out......much like toddlers. :)

Hi all, I'm exhausted. The night of not sleeping combined with busy things all day got to me. I fell asleep about 5:30 and just woke up. I'm groggy and out of it. I'll probably go back to bed shortly.

I spent a little time with my son's kitten, since he's been gone all day and the kitten has been alone. He's being an aggressive little bugger. He has lots of toys to keep him busy, but he keeps wanting to attack our hands and feet and it hurts! He scratched open my thumb tonight and I have some little scratches on my arms too. Some of you with kitties... do you have any ideas?

Carol, have fun with the grandparents. I need to get over to see my mom too.

Kourtney, go you on the yoga! That will definitely reduce stress! **BIG HUGS** on your person resigning. That always freaks me out too. Just when you think you have a great team, someone up and changes things. It's hard, no doubt! But I also don't think your team will have any trouble adjusting, filling in the gap, and getting right back on track. You can do it!

Maureen, I think you'll survive two weekends apart LOL

Kelly, sorry to hear about your bad dream. I hate to say it, but those dreams are pretty normal. Obviously they reflect your concern that everything is okay, and the intensity should settle down after the first trimester. And you're right, the nausea is probably baby's way of saying everything is okay. I hope you feel better soon!

OMG Jon... months on end? I lasted 9 days. Although before this, I didn't swim for years. So I'm sure I could adjust. But I'd hate it. You do sound like the type to keep your head. Every company needs those. So if you feel someone needs yelled at, then they must really need it. Computers.... can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.

John - Oh I'm definitely just now beginning to really explore yoga and really, for me, it's more about the stress relief and strength building than anything else. That being said, a good teacher should ALWAYS be asking about injuries and helping find modifications to protect an injury. If you are looking to get involved with yoga, you really want to try out a class you just need to go for it and let your teacher know your injury. No need for it to be "hot" for it to be safe (I personally hate hot yoga, but I know others who swear by it so to each their own). :D Keep us posted!

Hi Gang!

I really wanted to be here yesterday as the week ramps up, 'puter probs. Oh well.

Craving exercise Heather? It's called Endorphin Kick and I need mine pretty regularly (5 days a week if I'm feeling lazy) as it gets me deep into the day.

Want to know what it feels like sitting on a beach for months on end Laurie? No, you really don't. I can appreciate sacrificing something for something you feel is more important (even as others look askance) so shuffle those funds around and go for it!

Good on you for the G'parents visit Carol. There's not enough extended family interaction and your kids will appreciate it later even more.

Wow, that's pretty intense Kourtney! I've been eyeing a yoga place on my commute and thinking it might be a good way to introduce an after work stress buster. I wonder if they have a variation of arthritics (bum hip here). Hot Yoga perhaps?

Two weekends successively Maureen? I have a hard time envisioning one over here. I posted previously, that extended family time is important.

Kelly- that's so cool the little one is letting you know (and I believe that). I hope the nausea passes quickly for you. That's only first tri, correct? Sorry, I'm a guy and basically clueless on so many things.

Busy day, got my workout in and off to work. I had to raise my voice to another who was playing the same game as many others. Very unlike me. It's been commented a couple of times at work how I seem to keep my head while others are running around freaking out. I went home and told my wife that and she burst out laughing. She keeps me so grounded. My laptop was really boggy last night for the third time in a few months so I ran disk check as before and it cleaned out a bunch of garbage and repaired some others. I got a couple of odd dlls I'll have to check out and see how bad it is.

Maureen - go you on those 12 miles! I found this elsiesyogakula.com/ . She has free podcasts, the show notes show the intended series (to get a hint for difficulty or if you'll like it), and she has classes of a variety of lengths and levels. More importantly (for me) - she has a $4 app on iOS, so I can easily incorporate it into my daily life. SO yeah, major win.

Kelly - Oh, all of my family lives in Illinois (I'm from a suburb of Chicago, dad's side is from a different suburb, mom's side is from central Illinois). We can't just jump on any day b/c of Mike's lab work, but we'll be there from 12/21 - 12/29 and will be going to 3 separate christmas things AND a wedding. Sounds tiring just thinking about it. So sorry to hear about that awful nightmare! Good to know the little baby is "reminding" you that all is well. :D

***

OK sorry in advance for the babbling.

I came here b/c I'm sorta freaking out and knew you guys would deal with the babbling. One of my coworkers just resigned - a coworker that does a LOT of work for our division and is AWESOME at her job - and I'm flipping out a bit. Logically I know that we'll hire someone new and all will be ok eventually and all that jazz, but I am sick and TIRED of change man! UGH. I finally felt like I was catching my bearings and now I feel it vanishing again...

But I'm trying to remain calm and just focus on the here and now. Hence deciding to come here and whatnot.

OK, I'm going to try to get back to work. But F*CK I could use a drink tonight.

xoxo

Hello all!

Heather, good for you for not making excuses! No wonder you're seeing such progress.

Laurie, haha to the 9 days. I hope you can budget it in!

Carol, sounds like you're doing good stuff for the grandparents. So nice of you guys.

Kourtney, why are you and Mike going to Illinois? It's so hard to find reasonable plane tickets lately. We're going to Utah for Christmas and when we found a decent fare we jumped on it, before I okayed the days off with my boss. Oops. It all worked out, but I was a little worried.

Maureen, you will survive! At least you have plans with friends.

So I had this really grisly miscarriage dream last night. :( It was really upsetting. Then I woke up to insane nausea that still hasn't gone away (it's 3 PM here). I like to think that's baby's way of saying, "No worries. I'm still here. Making you sick."

Kelly

Kourt: Where do you get free yoga? I found some "okay" videos on Amazon Instant but I didn't love them. Where do you get your videos?

This weekend is the second weekend Jay and I will be away from each other! Crazy! I have plans with friends and he is going with Carol to his grandpa's house. I'm jealous I can't go, but I committed to dog sitting.

Well, I'm FINALLY recovered from the 12 mile hike on Saturday! I'll lift weights tonight.

Heather - so happy to hear how positively working out is working in your life!!! Heck yes "me time!"

Laurie - ha I knew it'd be single digits. I dropped my gym bc of money, but I will cling to my pool pass til I die.

Carol - too cold to swim? Really? Where are you going?? Come on - I know it's not the ocean, but cold isn't an excuse. :-P. I feel you on the iPhone battery plague. I'm 3 hours in and already at 56%. It drives me nuts that part of apple's business model is to make me pay for more battery...

Long time no chat!

Busy couple days, but they were productive. Now I get to spend time again on my 90% (rather than my supposed "10%"). I'm all by myself at my usual office though so that's sad but that means I can blast my music so that's happy.

I got in 90 min of yoga last night and a half hour of yoga this morning. I forced myself to go last night and was so glad I did. And I finally found a way to do yoga at home (carpet + tiny apartment....) and want to start doing shorter morning practices. Yay technology for giving me free yoga :).

Mike and I have been buying airline tickets. We found a great deal getting back from Illinois, but we aren't finding many deals heading there... Of course, we are looking for a Friday to Saturday direct red eye so it's not shocking that the prices suck...

Alright I am above ground now - back to work. xoxo

Carol, I completely missed that there's an issue with an exchange student. Sorry you have to deal with that. It certainly can't be you as you've had so many others that worked out just fine.

Haha, I think Kourtney and I have both been waiting for that shoe to drop! It's your sanity time and I seriously don't think you can live without it.

We are going to see the kids grandparents this weekend, which will be fun but a lot of work. I'll finish re-finishing their dining room table and Tom will put in a new kitchen sink faucet that we bought. Casie hasn't seen them for over a year, so we definitely need to go. They have a pool, but I think it's going to be too cold to swim in. There are good places to walk and hike there, so we should get in some exercise.

Today it's work, work, work. Yesterday was the total iPhone day. Between Skype, text, calls and emails, it was going off so constantly that I never got the charge to go above 16%! Let's hope for a quieter day today.

Good for you, Heather! I know how much better you must feel!

I've been up since 2 am. I'm going to see my CASA kids shortly, and then we're going to a diabetes class at the hospital. If I don't collapse before then, my plan is to take a nap when we get home after 3.

No workout today. I'm figuring out finances over the next few days though, and I'm determined to come up with the money to renew the pool pass. I can't stand it anymore. That lasted what? 9 days?

I did my workout, and I am very proud of myself for fitting it in. The old me would have made some excuse about not having time. The new me is craving the exercise and, wait.....looking forward to it!! Wow, that's a change!!!

Have a FUN and ACTIVE day!!!
