I also had 2 weeks of full liquids with the day before of clear liquids only. Every time I thought I was hungry and couldn't stand it any more I drank water with crystal light and then went for a walk. Take you mind off of it. It will pass quickly.

Take Care and God Bless ! ! !

I am going to be keeping these suggestions in mind! I know I have to be on a liquid diet for a week prior to my surgery! Thank you for the suggestions, I know I will be starving as well.

Keep 'em coming! :D

One of my other big challenges is trying to explain to my 4 year old twins why Mommy is eating popsicles for dinner :-)

Wow, clear liquids only, that is harsh. I was on protein shakes for 2 week prior and clear the day before. You can do it, just say I can do anything for 5 days and it does get easier and go faster.

You can do it! I had to do clear liquids with protein for two weeks prior to surgery. It is a mental game. Even the first couple weeks you will have head hunger. Just vent away. We are here for you.

Now that post was helpful, MomtoCallie! Unlike mine.

Thanks.

For whatever reason, sugar free popsicles got me through. Crystal Light has sugar free popsicles that have some unusual flavors that are very good along with the old stand-bys of grape, cherry, and orange (not by Crystal Light). I am 2 weeks postop and feel so much better than I have in years! Just remember - there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Oh - by the way - when you have to do the "final" clean out the day before surgery, it should go a lot easier since you haven't been eating much! Not a lot to look forward to, but it is something! Good luck!

I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better than when I got here.

What about WINE??!!!! That can make you forget your hunger. LOL I'm sorry, I'm just tired but wanted to pop in for awhile. Just remember that others have had or will have to do that too. One thing about it, you are not alone.

Best to you.

Keep refocusing on why you're doing this! The joy is yours to experience a healthy trouble free healing and continued weight loss (out of the hospital!). Just deal with each day or each meal, make a chart you can write the completion of each day. Give yourself a star or smiley face reward. When I turn things into kind of a game it helps my whiny kid within be happier and deal with things better! It's important for me to pat her on the back and mentally let her know how 'good' she's doing or being. Works for me. emoticon emoticon

omg i so hear you! i used to go for a walk when my family ate. i actually got pouty like a big baby. can you have isopure protein?? that just seems harsh 5 days of only clear fluids? if you can find isopure...it is clear at a gnc...do it. it has 40grams of protein in one bottle. also crystal light makes a powder that has 5 grams of protein to add to water. just drink and eat (jello) all day...

i'm sorry honey but this too will pass.

i'm on the liquid diet post op now...and i want food too...go figure...mine is probably head hunger.

Today I started my 5 day preop clear liquid diet, which means basically all I can eat is SF jello, popsicles, broth and crystal light. Right now, I feel SOOOO hungry! I can't even have protein shakes or anything like that. I just don't know how I'm going to sustain myself for the next few day. Does anyone have some suggestions on how I can get through this?
