I have a confession and usually I save all that for God, but I need to feel accountable to the team.

I have gained weight. Not going to say how much, but I hope to lose half of the gained weight off by Thanksgiving, which is very realistic.

What can I say? Well, I eat healthy most of the time, I exercise still almost every day; HOWEVER, I've gotten into the habit of snacking in late evening and it has caught up with me. This threw me way over my healthy calorie intake for the day and now I have faced the scales.

Lesson to learn? It can happen - to you too. Please learn from my mistake so that you won't have to face a gain.

OK now I feel better. I didn't snack last night and I slept so much better. My conscience is clear - I'm moving forward and I thank God I woke up before I gained too much!

Have a wonderful day and get out and walk!

I have made my own coffee protein drink but it is not as convenient as my Projoe. I also do not like the taste of my own as well as the Projoe.

I working on the internet to find another source of my Projoe.

I hope everyone is having a great Halloween day!

did not do well protein wise this week. Only lost 2 lbs, but "2 pounds is 2 pounds". I worked out every day this week, and feel wonderful about that. I was hoping for a bigger loss, but that is okay.
I started doing protein decaf coffee in the morning to get that protein in I so desperately need.

I think it's great that the negative of having saggy skin can be turned into a positive by seeing it as a trophy. Very Good!

Dommie, The circuit or weight machines at the gym will help to tighten up the skin a little. There is only so much that can be done with exercise. You can also lift weights or use resistance bands at home but the gym is easier as everything is in the same place and set up and the machines are set up to target certain muscles.

Good job on the exercising you are doing!!!!!!

Hi everyone!!!! It's been awhile!!! but I'm back now!!

I had my surgery on March 18 on this year and in total, I have lost 123 pounds from the beginning of this process. My skin is sagging so much but I see it as my trophy for losing that weight. I work out 4 times of week but Ii know that only the knife will fix that! For now, I need to learn to live with it cause it's to early to do something and i don't have the $$$ for it!

hi all. just stopping in to say hello. i have hit the gym everyday this week.

I had my surgery on Aug. 11, and have lost 56 since surgery. I too have the sagging skin and am trying to work out to help it in any way I can. nothing shrinks the skin without the knife.

Hi Everyone!
I had my RNY on August 12, 2010 and have lost 55 pounds so far. My question is...Is it normal to already have saggy skin under my arms and on my inner thighs? Yes I would rather have a little saggy skin then my old rolls that hindered my movements but having been self conscious my entire life it is worrying me that it is so saggy already. Does it ever tighten up? I was terrified of this surgery so I know I will never have plastic surgery plus could not afford it anyway. Just would like some tips on what everyone has tried to tighten it all up. Thanks in advance:)

The only thing I would add to the previous comments are to go to a Bariatric Center of Excellence. That is a special certification for bariatric centers. Their programs and experience are considered for the certification. I am so glad I went to the doctor I did. They explained everything so well and my surgery was a breeze. Not that everyone's is, but I was really concerned about all my previous surgeries and adhesions and all that. I did have lots of scar tissue, they removed a lot of it. The doctor had the experience to handle anything that came up. I am soooo glad I had my surgery. emoticon

Here is what I would recommend: 1)Check with your insurance to see about coverage for weightloss surgery. 2)Choose a surgeon and see if they have an information class. 3) Attend the no-charge info session where you can ask them questions about various surgery options and they go over the general info of the various types of weight loss surgery. 4) After the info class you can make an appointment with a surgeon to discuss the matter.
5) At the same time ask about a support group in your area and attend a meeting and ask questions. I started attending support group meetings before I had surgery while I was still deciding.

I don't have a surgery scheduled yet. I went to the doctor yesterday and he recommended that I see someone to consider gastric bypass. I have a fatty liver and the concerns are that it will turn to cirosis of the liver if I don't lose weight quickly. I've been losing without surgery, but only about a pound a week. I don't know where to start, does the doctor decide which type of bypass you need? Did anyones insurance cover any part of it?

hello all. dropping in to say hi and get busy with my day. the gym doesn't open on Sundays until Nov. 7th (sucks), so I am gonna do my Billy Blanks DVD.
My sister is starting to notice the difference in my clothes as they are hanging on me. I desperately need new undies, as mine are slipping down. My bra is also getting loose.

That is a lot of weight! And you have to take in that presurgery weightloss. Some folks forget about that and it is as important as the post.

Nena, I lost 30 lbs before surgery and 26 lbs since surgery. I have 49 lbs left to go. I hope to make it by the 9 month mark too. I am feeling great except getting fatigued by late afternoon. I did a very BAD thing this morning---I walked on my treadmill barefooted. I'll never do that again. I've been limping around with a blister on my foot all morning. Oh well, live and learn.
Thanks for being such a great leader! You're so good at what you do. So encouraging! Again Thanks!!! emoticon

Cindy, you are doing great. I have slowed down to about 1 to 1 1/2 lbs a week now. I really didn't think I would lose fast because I don't have a lot to lose. I had this surgery because of my health. My Dr told me I wouldn't live but 2 to 4 years because of my diabetes. My liver and kidneys were already damaged. I have 50 lbs left to lose. I am 55 years old and had several medical reasons to have my surgery. You are doing fantastic!! Don't compare your weight loss to others!! Losing every lb. is a wonderful thing. Be proud of yourself and cherish the gift you have given yourself!! I am proud of you!! emoticon

Lilangel, I would be ecstatic if I could say at 5 weeks that I had lost 25 since surgery. I am 5 1/2 weeks out and have only lost 16 pounds since surgery. I am lucky if I loose 1 pound in a week and a half. The only time I lost big was the first week after surgery.

but at least I am off some of my medication! So I too have something to celebrate even if it is not "weight falling off".

Went to the first support group meeting since my surgery last Saturday. It helps a lot to hear people talk about their experiences form 7 years out until now. I was the newest at being 5 weeks out today. I am still feeling fatigued and still have pain in my left side sometimes. I am getting all of my protein in and most of my water. I feel I am doing good. Don't have anything to fit me yet. Going shopping with DD tomorrow. I wore the smallest dress I have to church Sunday and it just hung off me. I have lost 25 lbs so far. It is slowing down but I guess that's to be expected. My Mom is excited---she's getting all of my clothes!

Dommie, it sure is good to hear you are doing well.

Nena, great job on getting caught up at work so fast!

I was tired this morning and didn't go for my walk (I went back to bed) so I'll get my husband to go walk with me when he gets home from work. I really love walking in the cool fall mornings!

Everyone have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon

Hello everyone, how's it going coming up on a fall Monday? Weather is fall-like now, some overnight frosts, so plants have been brought in.
I am 7 months out of my RNY and down by 82lbs. I am feeling so much better and off several meds now. All my labs are NORMAL, which is a first in decades for me. That is all except Vit. D, have a deficiency, which doc is treating w/mega doses for 12 wks, then retest.
This weekend we took our son and his 2 young boys, 4 and 6 yrs to a church Halloween party outdoors at a church campgrounds nearby. I was able to walk around all I wanted to, go on the boys first hayride with them, roast marshmallows w/them. I ate one. lol Not good like they used to be. But I am so thankful for having been able to do this with my little loves, when 2 years ago I almost died on them.
I have said it hundreds of times already and will continue to say it..."Having the RNY was the best thing I have EVER done for myself."
Don't be afraid to do something for yourself. It's not being selfish. It's choosing LIFE!

Well here in England it is 12.20am, not sure if you are all awake yet.

Rather cloudy and dull with the onset of winter just around the corner.

I have been a very good girl in that I have already completed my food diary for today. Needed to do this because I have found that I have now started to get hungry and snacking a lot.

Hope you are all well.

Nena, Glad you are enjoying Salt Lake City and getting out to really see it instead of sitting in the hotel. I visited there a number of years ago and I agree with your opinion of the city. emoticon

Hi, Everyone!

I'm in Salt Lake City this week on a business conference. The first evening we walked the city and it is a very clean city and was enjoyed by all. Yesterday after work, we all hiked halfway up a mountain. I'm in pretty good cardio condition and I thought I was gonna die! The much higher altitude had a lot to do with my distress. But I made it and I felt like a biggest loser contestant and had just won a challenge! It felt great!

There's a brighter day coming...

Glad you found the support group helpful. Keep asking questions. I found it helped after surgery that I had asked so many questions before surgery.

Thanks Cindy. I actually went to the support group which is a mandatory step prior to surgery just tonight. I did get some valuable information as well as hearing the good milestones. I know this is necessary for me to do in order for me to be healthy. I know it won't be easy but it will be so worth it!
