You asked us to give you an idea about what we wanted in this team and who we are. I have been on SP for three years and belong to another large team. It is always 10-20 members that keep the chat going. New members pop in for questions and a lot more just read what is posted. To me, that is not a bad thing--we are there when needed and sometimes that is all that is needed.

I am 71 years old and don't have a lot of time for social media--which includes the chat part of SparkPeople. I mainly use SP for the tracking. So while I come to push the button each morning, I don't expect to do much else.

As to who I am: old woman, own a small motel, train and compete in dog obedience, am controlling my diabetes with food choices and maintain a vacation home for my son. My social encounters are mostly face to face and I have a wide circle of friends. That's it.

Leone
Hang on, it's going to be a bumpy ride.

It's 13 feels like 2 with a high of 27 for today but the roads are clear. Weather app humor for today: This is the perfect night to storm a castle; just as long as the enemy promises to pour hot oil on us. Getting my car serviced this morning then will get my workout in this afternoon. Achieved my daily activity goal and had 10,370 steps yesterday. Vacation is almost over won't know what I work next week until sometime tomorrow to plan my week of workouts.

Hi 👋 I am a 33 year old female. Birthday is on the 26 of this month. I’ve been a member of Spark since 2010 and have been up and down with my weight. I got really serious with my weight loss journey in 2015 I lost 40 pounds in a year and in February of this year will be at magnance for 2 years 👊👊
I try to workout everyday day and track calories. I weigh in every Friday and measurements every month to stay in check. My main goal is to stay fit and healthy for me and my family. I have a 16 and 13 year old girls and a 3 year old boy. I want to be around for them for a very long time. ( and of course my amazing husband) 😍. Love him so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I am an 63 yo (almost 64 -- next month) wife and mother. I have been a member of SP since 2010 due to multiple health issues. Following good healthy lifestyle practices has helped me get my type 2 diabetes under control. That is by getting my nutrition and exercise under control. That is still my maintenance goal -- adequate exercise, rest, nutrition and balancing all that w/relaxation. It's all about balance.

2017 was a challenging year with both parents having a healthy crisis leading to hospitalization on 01 January 2017. Unfortunately, they had to enter a nursing facility, but could be together. That was a blessing. Dad passed away on 12 August 2017 and Mom 02 November 2017. I was privileged that I could take care of them in my home until they required nursing home care.

2018 is my year to get some more relaxation in, get back to a new routine.

Love is the root of all things good in life.

Greetings! I am 63 years old and have been an active member of SparkPeople since 2010. After reaching my weight goal in 2011, I've been slightly up and down with my weight and continue to use Spark's community and tools for continued guidance in making better choices. We all experience setbacks in life including our health. Spark gives me encouragement and support I would not find in my own community. It takes faith, time, determination and commitment to succeed in any task, especially with regard to one's own being both spiritually and physically. I truly believe my success lies in trusting God for all things and having a greater awareness and appreciation for those things.

Being somewhat of an introvert posting can feel intimidating for me. In my weight loss journey I am struggling. No matter what I do, the weight does not come off. Several years ago I lost a lot of weight. Then my life became full of stress and I gained most of it back.
I cannot promise to check in daily, but I will try and post here more often.

Blessings,
Ruthie

Good morning! Considering myself "nudged"! Just back from a three-week adventure in Southeast Asia, 15 days of which were spent aboard a cruise ship. We all know how dangerous those types of vacations can be for a weight loss journey. But I'm so proud to report that I thoroughly (and smartly) enjoyed myself in terms of food of beverage, but was able to balance that with activity to return weighing the same as when I departed!

My small goals for the rest of January are to: 1) Drink MORE water. 2) Meditate for 10 minutes each day. 3) Do yoga for 10 minutes each day. 4) Get out and walk for 10 minutes most days.

Thanks for being here to motivate me!

Not much of a "team posting" person, I blog extensively on Spark. Not everybody benefits from the same kinds of activity online, just as one size does not fit all in real life...

Been a member since 2008, when in my first weekend I "overdid" became overwhelmed by the vastness of the site. Came back a year later, and learned how to do just the parts that work for me!

I am 65 years old, have lost the weight here, maintained it here, and continue to be here for the support, both received and given. Besides weight loss, one day at a time I managed to give up carbonated beverages (for my health), vastly reduce my caffeine consumption, and went from couch potato to triathlete.

It's doable... IF we take it one small goal at a time. I've moved with retirement (very recently) into a phase of working on getting my home dug out from under years of accumulated clutter, while keeping my training focus for triathlon.

Life is so much better when we're working on some little goal or another!

I joined SP 1/25/2007 with a goal of getting into "Onederland"! I had lost 56 lbs. in 2006 after joining Curves and tracking my weight on FitDay. My daughter introduced me to Sparkpeople and I've been able to maintain my goal "more or less" literally speaking with joining the helpful challenges on the "At Goal & Maintaining + Transitioning to Maintenance Team". I try to log onto Sparkpeople daily and read the blogs and encouraging comments of other members. My daily routine is going to Curves, then going to the pool with my husband Monday through Friday. We take care of my 44 year-old daughter's dog while she is working at school as a Music teacher. Our 41 year-old son and his wife, who moved here from California last year, live nearby with our sweet grand-daughter who will be 7 months old. We are going to baby-sit today. My 51 year-old daughter and her family live in Connecticut. My older grand-children are a 20 year-old grand-daughter, an 18 year-old grandson and a 15 year-old grandson. We had a wonderful Christmas this year with the new baby. Thank you for maintaining this "Small Goals Commitment Challenge Team" !

Hello also responding to the nudge. I usually read the post but I do not post very often. I work long hours as a nurse and that seems to be where my time goes. I still get my steps in and small bouts of exercise daily. My goal is to keep stepping and decrease bad food choices. Looking for support and information to support a healthy lifestyle.

Hi. Responding to the " nudge " as well. I am coming along with my small committment goals.

Hi, i wish I could be the same weight, Christmas didn't do me much good, although it was wonderful. Weight wise oops... so a fresh start is called for, now all the holiday food is gone and we are back to routine, my plan is to reduce my portion size and eat more vegetables. Wish me luck. This year my husband is fifty and my mum is eighty so I have two birthdays and a big holiday for all of us in August. So one day at a time

I think my biggest thing has been I've been at the same weight for three years now. I began to consistently exercise in April '17, and due to photos, I've lost fat, but not weight. Due to the photos, I've decided I'm not giving up. I was so glad I took them because I can see progress.

I'm trying to learn to focus more on eating enough and eating the right foods and becoming a healthier me.

As for me . . . .I'm Dreama. Mom of five. Two with special needs. All grown with the youngest graduating high school this year. I'm single and honestly, I think I like that best. I clean houses for a living and am slowly paying off debt. That in and of itself sure does take a lot of stress off me. Three years ago, I had 32 collection agencies on me. Now I'm paying on my last one and should have it paid off in August, by God's grace.

God. . . . . I love the Lord with all my heart. Before I surrendered my life to Him I was deep in depression. He has pulled me out of that. He has healed me from chronic migraine. With His help, I've been able to work my job - I have my own business - and now I do not have daily pain as I had before.

My dream would be to do web design. I'd actually done one job and was already planning on which clients to let go first. God spanked my booty! He told me that I was acting just like the Children of Israel in the wilderness with the manna. He said I was not being grateful for what HE had provided and what HE had blessed. Right then, I asked forgiveness and started thanking Him for His provisions. So, although I want to do web design, I have four focuses in my life - Going Home, my children being saved (God has saved two and I'm still praying for two), staying healthy, and paying my bills.

By God's grace, I'm going to be going to the Teton Mountains this summer, then my next goal is to go on a cruise with my favorite Gospel band, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound. THEN (tee-hee), I found they are going to start doing a fan retreat. Yeap! That just got put on my bucket list.

Well, I think that is all about me. I'm sorry it's rather long winded.

Have a beautiful evening!

~ Dreama

Hi, I started at Planet Fitness this week. A personal trainer is working with me for next few weeks to help me adjust to the program that helps me exercise with out hurting my arthritis in my knees and ankles.
I am using warm up exercises and stationary bike, up to 20 minutes on bike with 3 miles.
Major goal is to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week.

Picture is from son's wedding in May.

Karri, I love your psalms quote.

I got a nudge from Grandma Donna (at least that's what her SP name looks like!) about sharing more here. I have to confess I'm going through a hard time, and have been so inconsistent in my "small goals," that I've been too embarrassed to come here.

We visited California in October, and again at Xmas, and I got sick both times, the first trip's sickness being the worst I've been for a long time. Since moving to Missouri, I've had allergies and asthma, and the cold air just exacerbates my problems. I'm trying to get back on track with daily exercise. My goal was (still is) 278 minutes of exercise a week, and I haven't accomplished that since September.

Trying not to not do my usual thing of trying to get back to "normal" too fast, so instead I'm doing nothing.

I'll get back on track eventually, but I'm feeling very lazy.

AFERRARI, hope you don't get too much snow, my niece is under the same advisory about snow and I'm so worried about her!!

Thankfully it is just rain here in GA and it won't be too bad. I'm up at 1123; because I can't sleep again. Seriously, I'm so awake I'm going to go work out when I'm done with SP.

I am trying to bust a plateau. I have been maintaining my weight up and down for the last 3 years. I am trying to do 10 min of core exercises everyday in addition to my strength training and cardio. I also am trying to get more cardio. I work retail so today I walked, stood, and climbed up and down a ladder for 6hrs and 15 min. ( I actually walked 10 min during my lunch as well). I divide my walking time in half for tracking. Today will be 3 hrs at 2.5 mph.
We started back to snap fitness a year ago. My arm exercises I am lifting 4 lbs instead of 2, 6 lbs instead of 2, 40 lbs for both triceps and biceps on machines, my low row machine weight has gone up from 20 to 55 lb., on leg extension and leg curl machines I have gone from 20 lbs to 40. On the leg press machine I have gone from 20lbs to 90 lbs.
I am wearing the same size clothes but have more stamina. My goal for 2018 is to get to my goal weight and get rid of my apple shape.

I am really busy at work thus not getting on here until the evening. But I am still getting my steps in and writing in my journal. Although lately there has not been too much writing. I am so tired when I get home that I just want to relax. I will get back at it this weekend.

And we are having a lot of rain. Near us they are under a snowfall warning and I sure hope it will not come near us.

Well I am off to bed

Have a great evening

I am Amy and would like to introduce myself. I am looking for a supportive team and looking to see what this team has to offer. I am sorry I haven't been more active. I have way too many teams and need to let some of them go. However, this will not be one of them.
I will try to get in here at least three times a week.
Have a good evening!

I'm committed to one small goal at the moment. I will exercise 10 minutes a day. I have kept the streak going since new years, but I am generally doing 30 minutes of exercise each day. Also, I am trying to move toward a vegetarian diet without making it a commitment. My husband makes fruit & veggie smoothies, and we have considerably cut down on animal products. Once the exercise commitment has become a habit, I will select my next small goal.

At present, my small goals revolve around working the parameters that my medical team have given me. Restricted medications for existing conditions and no supplemental vitamins/minerals, no painkillers(they removed me from my arthritis meds in April, and I had not had pain for years), foods must be low in potassium, sodium, and calcium, no oranges, potatoes, red meat, dairy products or some of my favorite fruits and veggies. It is a lot to accomplish, and I use small goals to achieve the best results. I am awaiting assignment to a parathyroid surgeon located out of town. Once the surgery is done, quite a few of the above restrictions will be removed.
I am taking it one day at a time.

You are the same person today that you will be in five years from today, except for the people that you meet and the books that you read.

I am trying to make sure I exercise well throughout the day! There are several things about this time of year that pull me down, darker days, cooler weather, less sun! However, time has shown me that the more movement I do, the less struggle I have!

My big goals for 2018 are to become able to walk alone with a walker and to be able to walk 300 feet. My current small goal is to walk 100 feet.

I have set a goal of moving at least 30 minutes and doing yoga at least 10 minutes every day. So far I am good for 11/11 days consistency. I am trying to run 4 days per week, cross/strength training 2 days per week, and do yoga on my rest day. I registered for my first marathon on November 3, 2018. Right now I am just building/maintaining my base until June when I start my 20 week training plan.

I had a great day. Got in a variety of exercise - walk with my dog, physical therapy exercises, upper body strength, stretching, core strength and yoga. My main goals right now are to eliminate added sweets and get out of pain.

It has been a good day for me. Although I did not go to the gym, I walked with hubby today. The weather was great - in the 60s. I also went to the store and bought a few things. Really enjoyed the weather today. Tomorrow the snow and ice begin to fall. Not looking forward to it. DD and I have an appointment to get our nails done on Saturday morning. Depending on the roads, we may or may not be able to do this.

I bought some new lavender tea bags yesterday. I love hot tea. It was delicious.

emoticon At last count, 96 schools in our area are going home early for inclement weather conditions. We are not. It is past noon, still in the 60's, and the sun is shining most of the time. Our superintendent refuses to jump on that band wagon. Today, I agree.

Hey ALL--
my goal today is to finish the day with at least 2 miles under my belt. I feel i "SHOULD" do more because terrible weather is on its way tomorrow night without a thaw temperature until next Friday. We'll see.

I just picked up some good books at the library for the cold days. I have HEALTHY food already stored. I'm in a good place.

looking for friends to connect with, get to know, and encourage each other along this journey. :-)
Blessings

1-11-18 Looks like everyone is doing pretty good. Glad to hear it!
Today I am working & ZUMBA & getting house ready for guests, coming in for DH Mom's Celebration Of Life, on Saturday. I've been going to gym & playing, so fun! I like it because it is BRAND new. Opened a week ago. Still has the 'new car smell', LOL! We had rain! About 1" first time in 124 days!!!! Everything is SO pretty! Even the hummers are out & playing in the sunshine, 65 degrees today. I've been using the fitbit, it amazes me how long it takes me to get to 7,000 steps! I haven't even gotten to 10,000. HOW DO YOU DO IT???? I am VERY active. I'm thinking maybe needs to be adjusted. I'll walk a few steps & it says I've only done 1 or so. I'm flying into the day! Be happy & healthy & I will too!!!

Heart Sun, from a few days ago, walking, pretty, right?

Hi team I hope you are all doing well today. Hey Linda great news about your friend.

I have been sore for the past couple days. Not sure if it is the weather or if I pinched a nerve in my neck. But I am up and moving about today. It is 48 outside today. I need to go to the store and fedex office so will at least get out of the house. It is slushy and mushy out there probably not so good for walking. Today's goal inside. Pack up all the Christmas stuff and get it back to the garage. Eating goal drink 8 glasses of water and 5 fruits and veggies. Office goal pay bills for the month and balance checkbooks.

A friend posted on FB yesterday
"Today temp is 33 degrees. 2 days ago it was -40. That is a 73 degree increase so why am I still cold."

Hey there team, I'm feeling much better today than yesterday. Sorry I was a no show yesterday no explanation given just got mad and down. I know that is when I need to be on here being "loud and proud" but I tend to take my struggles internal. I've always the peacemaker, the mediator anyway, I'm getting a snack and check back in. emoticon emoticon

It's 54 with a high of 52 but temps dropping throughout the day. Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until midnight tonight. Weather app humor for today: It's cloudy, but I checked my pockets and it turns out I have zero craps left to give. Today's workout weather pending is Back/Biceps. Achieved my daily activity goal and had 10,374 steps yesterday.
