Did my challenge exercises despite not feeling well today. I want to do more and will be out for a walk in a little bit. Will route myself to challenge some of the steeper streets. I am sad to think there are only two weeks left on this. I registered to walk a 6K on Thanksgiving. It's all hills. I'll jog some of it, but know my hips and back won't allow me to jog the whole 3.8 miles or whatever it is. I have a very steep walk from home to get to the start. Will go early so I can rest a little before I tackle the race.

I've been having a problem on the weight tracker. When I try to hit the 'save', it won't. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Also, sometimes sleep eludes me from about 3:30 to 4 AM and on.. Sometimes I can go back to sleep, but sometimes I can't. Thank God it is every night!

Good night to All! emoticon

Can't believe it is November. This has been a busy few week, doing church budget, arranging for new elections and planning the congregational meeting. Glad when Thanksgiving is here because things will slow down a bit. And today my fitbit hasn't synced with sparks.

Good thing got my hair cut and grocery shopping done. Have a great evening. I see some countries have already changed time, we change ours this weekend.

Hugs

I'm enjoying the bedtime challenge, too. I may be over crediting myself though. I get to bed on time and pain wakens me so I am often up during the night. But, being mindful of the challenge I sometimes make myself stay in bed and can get back to sleep sooner than I would have had I gotten up. In any case, this is an awesome piece to keep in mind each night.

Yes, but on Saturday you post the points for going to bed on time Friday night.

I'm loving the bedtime part of the challenge- I love my sleep!!

The no snacking ting is standing me in good stead too! (This is so much more "me" than the drinking water and stretching!!)

So a question about the "reasonable bed time". Let's say for example that my usual bedtime is between 10 - 11pm, but my kids put up a fuss and I don't actually make it to my bed until after that time but go directly to sleep? Chances are I've passed out in one of my daughters' beds while settling them.

Jeanne - If you are already doing this all day, you are to be commended, it will be easy for you to contribute points to your team. If you are not snacking you are NRE and get points. It does not matter if you do not go out.

I'm no expert.... but it is my understanding of the purpose of snacking is to keep the metabolism going? I do snack on fruit, nuts, popcorn, sometime veggies. I find it to be very helpful. Good job Jean!

Oh, 3_VEGGIES; how I remember work trips. I was an event coordinator and for much of the year I traveled 2 - 3 times a month to be on-site. There was always great breakfasts with lots of fruit but also those tempting pastries; then lunch which was enough for anyone's dinner; always an afternoon snack; and a huge dinner, of course, with dessert! That's probably the reason I am overweight now so I wish you lots of luck over the next couple of weeks. I will be sending Spark thoughts your way!

This is a great pattern to be in Jean. No snacks is the way to go if you can. I'd prefer this, but my lifestyle provides more temptations. It's figuring out how to adapt and planning for all this. This week and next my good habits and patterns go out the window when I do work travel. Conferences, evening networking, etc. In conjunction with being away from home and normal exercise patterns can turn a world upside down. I'm thinking ahead and will try my best.

Hi Jean-
I'm not the official voice or anything, but as I understand it you absolutely get to count every day as not random eating/snacking, because you already have great habits in place!
I want to follow your example- sounds like your non-snacking boundaries are firm and longstanding!

Question regarding No Random Eating for Week 5.

For me, snacking is a form of random eating. I have no medical necessity to snack. Nor do I have a need for a healthy snack. So, I simply do not snack. Would that count?

I am not a particularly social person. I do not expect to find myself in situations next week where I will have anything to resist. I do not watch TV. I am not in a work situation where I walk past candy jars or goodies in the lunch room. I just do not have any of those kinds of temptations around me.

There were some wonderful examples shared in the challenge summary. Honestly, the only one that I could find myself possibly experiencing is a trip to Costco. And, the food samples have NEVER tempted me. Again, I don't snack. And, I don't plan meals that include Costco food samples.

So, all I can envision as possibilities for next week are one social situation required of me for work (ugh) and possibly a trip to Costco. There are times my students offer me food. My response will be the same as usual, "No. Thank you." So, I guess I've come up with three possibilities. No snacking? Count? Not count?

Catch up has to wait one more day -- had another power outage this morning, and the gusting wind is still here. Looking like we're going three for three.

Had a kitten show up at our garage door. Am dealing with that. At least I got over PMSing first. Not a good combination. Now I've gotta get the established cats to accept the new kitty. That's always exhausting.

Julie, glad to hear you are finding something that helps you. I have one of those doctors that thinks multivitamins and Vitamin D are about all you need to take, that most everything else isn't necessary and they're all just a bunch of placebos. Tell that to my parents. My mom is not a big believer in prescription medication, but takes a lot of herbal remedies for lots of things like menopause and arthritis. She does take high blood pressure medication, but she says that's for my dad who wants her to live for a long time. Seeing how she's just shy of 79, I'd say either the supplements are doing something, or she's just in really good health.

Glad to hear your father-in-law is doing so good. Hope he continues to recover well.

Going to make a cup of tea and see if I can get this chill out of my bones. It's 47 degrees outside, 67 degrees in the house, but I'm freezing. People ask how I can handle the snow if I don't like the cold. I tell them that if there's snow, that justifies the cold. Somehow it's easier to bear that way.

Happy Wednesday!
