We don't adjust that, but you can always edit that goal for yourself manually if you would like. You can do that with your Edit Nutrition Goals button on your Nutrition Tracker page, then click Edit next to that nutrient and make your changes and save it.

Sorry, I am just seeing this. I'm glad you're more back to normal now. If you aren't drinking enough water, that can affect you as well, especially if you increased your fiber intake by a lot and/or suddenly. Sometimes too though, it can just take a little time for your body to adjust to the increased fiber.

My 'elimination' has settled back down to normal - was a bit shocked at the sudden disruption to service!

I came with the same issue Barb asked about back in December - sadly I don't know what day this info comes up on! I have always had regular daily bowel movements in the morning - for the past two days since focusing more on fibre, I haven't been! What's going on in there?

If you tell me exactly which product you are using, I can take a look and see if I can get that info for you.

It looks like it depends on which product it is. I found that they have nutrition info listed for each on this page: www.metamucil.com/en-us/prod
ucts/metam
ucil-fiber-supplement

If you click on the product, there is a tab for the supplement info, which includes how much fiber.

Has anyone asked about being OVER the recommended range for fiber? That often seems to be the case for me, and I am still experiencing issues with "regularity". I get my fluids in, too. I'm working with my health care professionals, but just curious: what are the dangers associated with getting too MUCH fiber?

Oops, never mind... I came here BEFORE reading the current day! Which is about exactly this issue!

Depending on your age, you may be somewhat close to what you need. If you are under 50, you want to aim for about 25 grams each day and if you are over 50, about 21 grams each day. Ideally, you want to be as close to your fiber range as much as possible most days. Beans and fruit are a good and somewhat easy way to add some fiber into your diet. If you haven't read/reviewed these articles, or need a refresher, they have some info on how to boost your fiber intake that you may find helpful in getting closer to your fiber range:

It may or may not help with the stomach pooch. It would depend on whether that is more from bloating, fat, or loose skin. If it's bloating, it may help; if it's fat, a continued combo of healthy eating and exercise will help decrease that; or if it's bloating, the added fiber may help it.

I get about 16 grams of fiber daily and I am regular. I have met my goal weight. Will more fiber help with the stomach pouch? I do exercise daily. I tried this challenge before and can't seem to get the minimum fiber requirements, is this a problem?

You can do the challenges as many times as you would like. However, if you have already done the challenge before, in order to get the points again, you need to allow enough time for that challenge to cycle through and you will then see a red note below the challenge when you are able to get points for it again. At that time, you can start getting points for it again.I believe it's usually 30 days that you can do that again for points.

I've noticed the challenge has stopped awarding points for the completion of the steps. Is there a limit as to how many times we can repeat the challenge and still get points?

It shouldn't, but there could be a combination of things going on there, including the types of foods you're eating. You can try experimenting with going a little lower with your goal and see if that makes things better overall. If it doesn't, it would be a good idea to check in with your doctor just to be sure there isn't something more happening for you.

Thanks Coach Denise! Sometimes reaching the fiber goal creates problems like diarrhea or very soft stools. Could the range be too high for me?

You would still want to aim to be eating within your fiber goal range even if you are regular. If you are consistently within your range and continue to be regular, then there is no need to get more fiber.

I have a question about "enough" fiber in my diet.
I believe that the ultimate goal of taking fiber is to be regular.
If I'm regular, (having a bowel movement every morning) do I need more fiber?

I was unable to work on this challenge for the past week due to IRMA--just got my electricity back last night and this is my first contact with Spark since I left for shelter more than a week ago. Anyhow, can I start where I left off or do I need to start over?

As long as you are checking off that you did all the tasks for the day, it will count that as being checked in. If there is more than one task, both have to be checked off for it to count as fully being completed.

I am on day 2 and think I have done all required and more each day, but each day I get an email saying I haven't checked in. I have posted something each day and have checked one of the questions each day. I have not checked that I am in the correct fiber range, because I am not--I have actually been too high on fiber for 2 days to avoid being too low. What do I need to do that constitutes "checked in"?

You can get points for challenges more than once, but you do need to wait for 30 days to pass before you can get those points again.

I'm back again, as you know, I left the team and rejoined so I could do this Challenge over again...All Good! What I don't understand is each day I complete the challenge and I am not receiving the points for what I have completed...

The points that are recorded on my main spark points page is for the other challenge I joined.

Just wondering, do you only receive the actual points when you join the challenge the first time around and any other months you re-join you don't receive credit for what you have achieved?? Is this how it works??

I am fine with this but just trying to clarify why I am not receiving credit for what I have accomplished.... emoticon for your help....

It's ok you don't need to answer as I left the group and then re-joined...Previously all I had to do was click on the Challenge and in small print there was a place stating to click on re-join the group...anyway all is good...

Simple Question: I went to Challenge Central, I was trying to rejoin the Fiber Fit Challenge again, keeps telling me I completed the challenge which I already know, tells me to go back to Challenge Central, there is no place to be able to re-join this challenge like I have done in past...Where did that link go?? Please can you help?? emoticon

Della, I think the way you can edit and remove items from your favorites list is to follow these instructions:

To remove a food in your Favorites list:
Roll your mouse over "My Trackers" at the top of the screen.
Click on "My Nutrition."
You'll now see your Nutrition Tracker page.
Click on "Favorites."
Roll your mouse over "Favorite Options."
Click on "Edit List of Favorites."

Hope this helps,

This is not a question about this forum but one that would help me a lot and I could get just the food that I now know is good for me and weed out the rest. Here is the question...
I am going to post this question in a few forums to see if I can get an answer. Maybe it is not possible.
When posting my food I have done a search on the same food more then once not remembering I had already searched it or have gone and eaten something that I won't ever eat again....Is there any way I can go in and clean these up? I noticed that the favorites are in alphabetical order. Would love to do this with my favorites and get rid of all the mess ups. I can not figure out how to do this clean up. Can any one out there help me?
Thanks for your time

Yes, that is why. You would need to check off both tasks for day 1 for it to be checked off. If you meet that requirement on a different day, it would be perfectly ok for you to go back and check that off on day 1.

I started the Challenge at the end of the day a few days ago and since I wasn't focused on fiber, I only got 12 grams that first day. The calendar doesn't show that I "checked in" on Day 1, but I did - I tracked my nutrition and posted on the Team Wall, but I didn't meet the goal on Day 1. Is that why Day 1 on the calendar isn't checked off? Day 2 (where I consumed over 30 grams of fiber does show a check mark).

How can I get a check mark for "checking in" on Day 1?

Thanks,

Miller

MOMWANTSNOWAIST - What you are seeing is due to rounding. If you were to click on the individual items that you tracked and clicked the link to view the nutritional info, you will see that some of those numbers are in decimals, which the main tracker page can't handle. So, the main tracker page will round up or down for that. So if you see something that is 0.5 in the individual nutrition info, the tracker will round it up as 1, so it may appear to be off in the numbers, but the total is correct if you were to add up all the totals as the actual amounts in decimals.

This page has more detailed info about that as well: www.sparkpeople.com/community

Coach Denise~ I got in my 25 grams of FIBER on 2.3.16 , however, my Nutrition Tracker is NOT adding up all the numbers correcting and is counting the total as 24. Can you help? I know I can write for Tech Help ,but as I am on this FIBER Challenge and I need it fixed NOW, I thought you could speed up the process!!! Thank you for your assistance in this matter and thank you for this challenge as it IS a challenge for me ,personally, to get the required 25 grams of FIBER in ,but I feel more inclined to do it in a challenge and am learning a lot of helpful info.! Thanks!

Some of the days will have a link to a full article on that day's topic, but not all of them will.

I would say to count that in your tracker since it is part of your fiber intake.

I joined this challenge yesterday in order to get serious about adding more fiber to my diet. In looking at the calendar I would like to know if there is a complete article for each day or is it just a snippet to get us to share. I can be an article junkie.

My doctor prescribed Benefiber daily....should I count that on my tracker?

Coach Denise,

I have been in the hospital twice this month and now have blood clots in my right lung. I have been unable to continue on with the challenge. I have saved all the emails and was wondering if I can just continue on when I am doing better. I really liked the few days that I was able to do the challenge and would like to be able to finish.

Are you incorporating any legumes (beans, lentils, etc)? If not, that would be one way to increase both your fiber and protein at the same time. I think that would be the easiest way to help you reach both your goals for that, especially since you are on the lower end of your protein range. This page has a breakdown of calories, protein, and fiber for the various legumes, which may help you in choosing the best option for you: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/
nutrition
_articles.asp?id=1589&page=2
. Grains can help you increase both a little bit too: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/
nutrition
_articles.asp?id=158&page=3
. That last article has a lot of protein ideas and not everything is fiber filled, so if you have met your goal for fiber, but need more protein, you may want to check some of the other options in there.

Hope that helps!

I tried to look back at my ranges. For protein it's suggested that I get 60 - 136 of protein. Over the past four weeks, my average per week has been about 65, 54, 75 and 65.

I wasn't tracking fiber until this challenge. For the past 23 days, I have met the fiber goal of 25-35 grams 13 of the 23 days. That may give you an idea of where I am at.

JF4009 - Yes, both will help fill you up longer. This article, and specifically this page, explains more about the two: www.sparkpeople.com/resource/
nutrition
_articles.asp?id=673&page=3
. What are your general protein and fiber totals that you eat? What are your ranges for each of those?

I don't know if this is the best place to ask my question, but I am going to ask it anyway and hope our coach can provide an answer. Prior to this challenge I was looking to add protein rich food to my diet so that they keep me filled up longer, etc. Now fiber is supposed to do the same thing. I struggle some days to get my protein in when I am getting my fiber and vise versa. Can you help explain protein versus fiber?

This is a GREAT challenge! Fun & fast & easy, for me. I look forward to doing another challenge that is this fun, too! Thanks! PS... When I eat flax seeds, I grind them up & put in green drinks. Then I can't go to the bathroom for a few days. Not sure why. Everyone else thinks it is GREAT! I add canned pumpkin to my green drinks for extra fiber!

Some days have more than one challenge and the top challenge that is listed first has a bigger check mark. It's that top challenge that has to be checked off as completed for it to count as a check-in. So, on days 2 and 3, you clicked the 2nd challenge only, but you would have to click on the top challenge to have it marked off completely on your calendar to have it count as a check-in.

Hope that helps!

Are you getting that for the days you don't check off all of the challenges? For example, it looks like days 2 and 3 you completed 1 out of the 2 challenges. Or are you getting that message for all days?

I have posted on the team wall everyday and my daily emails also tell me that I haven't checked in for the day before! Am I doing something wrong?

Tammy - You didn't have that actually tracking completely. I went ahead and added that to your other nutrients being tracked and it is now showing on that report.

Are you tracking fiber in your nutrition tracker? If you don't have that set up as one of the things you track, then it won't show up in either your totals or your daily report.
I have mine set to keep track of fiber and it DOES show up when I run the report.

You might want to hit "edit nutrition goals" in the tools & settings column underneath the totals for the day to see if it is showing that fiber is one of the nutrients you are set up to track.

SALLYART - If you are tracking your food, that will be in your Nutrition Tracker. You can go to the full calendar for the challenge and click on the day and read what the challenge info is for that day. If you click on the challenge from your start page, it will automatically take you to the appropriate day to view that info. Once you do the things listed, you can click the link for those being done to receive your SparkPoints.

Hope that helps!

CBRINKLEY401 - Thanks for the note about that! I have sent that to our tech team to have corrected.

BETZYGIRL - That's just the calendar page where you clicked that you tracked your food. I'm not sure what exactly that email said, but it sounds like you may have received it since you didn't meet the fiber goal/clicked on that button.

I joined the challenge, where do I find a record of the fiber I have eaten? Where are instructions?

More a comment than a question. I clicked on the "Go to the Team Wall" link for day 2 and it took me to the "Tame your Sweet Tooth" page instead of this Fit & Fiber group. Thought you'd want to know about it so it could be fixed.

Hi, Coach Jen,
I joined & started the challenge yesterday. I completed the items, earned my 20 points for tracking my food (only got 18 fiber:( Today I received a notice in my emails that I had not checked in for Day 1. Where do I do that? I can't find anywhere on the page to check off that I've done the challenge.

Thanks and have a great day emoticon emoticon
