Ready to come back to Spark a bit - was away from computer for four days and still not up to doing much. But spent those 4 days with dear daughter that is celiac and is much more up to par on THM than I am so am motivated to do well and begin to see pounds go away as strength returns - I wrote blog about my mysterious illness and so will not be making notes here - just want to eat well and healthy and regain strength soon.
Going to try to rotate my meat/protein sources to see if any of them are adding to inflammation... Has any one tried that? Thinking one day chicken/eggs, one day beef, one day turkey/cornish hens one day, pork one day, wild meat as in venison/bison and begin again....I am one who would eat eggs two meals a day every day if allowed...so this will be a game changer for me. But this illness has really fired all inflammatory things in me so wanting to calm the waters as much as possible. Nuts and beans I will just eat them freely as protein sources. Will begin tracking foods again soon.

I'm sure it isn't the way to get rest! I want to sleep a week right now and I'm healthy! If I was sick I would need a month to recuperate and then another week!

Bless you for your encouragement - I was told today that they think it is an auto-immune something going on ...said no antibiotics and will probably last 6 weeks and to go home and "eat nourishing meals, sleep around the clock and dirink enough to get up to potty every couple of hours" ---this is going to be interesting!!! So I'm lining up my water bottles with dilute juices, and electrolytes, the different pills she wants me to use and going to bed. Will try to check in daily but no promises.

Not too sure I am winning this battle - two new areas of cellulitis today - will probably have to go the antibiotic route after all ... In the mean time Lots of water and herbal teas nd feet up and sleeping.

Well, spent about three hours with nurses, Dr and lab work and ultrasounds to determine that I have been taking good care of myself through a serious cellulitis and to keep up the good work - they had to rule out vein thrombosis and are still going to be watching the cardiac aspects of things but allowed to come home on good behavior and will see them again next week.

Doc indicated that most people would have been plunked in hospital but I had proved to be doing so well at home and have good help in my hubby so why chance other infection invasions by being inpatient!!!

She did caution me to not be trying to loose weight and to maintain high quality protein intake along with fluids - smiled when I mentioned GGMS!! so will just keep on taking care and RESTING with foot elevated and getting better.

Still struggling with pain and now swelling in sore leg is increasing had long talk with triage nurse today and will see Dr at 11am tomorrow for evaluation and the planned fasting blood work plus any others that might shed light on this - some concern for congestive failure and need to protect the heart and lungs more [I have stents and a leaky valve] but did not want me comin in if we could avoid it one more day - the office was full of contagious people today and more routine/no infectious people tomorrow. So I have been sitting with legs elevated ALL day - up to fix simple meals and potty a hundred times.

THM - It is amazing to me how much doing the two week fuel cycle helped ingrain the different fuels in my head and plan. Even these day of not feeling or thinking cleary it is more natural to choose with in fuel types and to see where I cross over before I eat it!!

Linda, sometimes we just need to whine! I hope you get to see Dr tomorrow. I like what you said about "just going to be me and do my best". That's about all any of us can really do!

I've been having a hard time sticking to program the past couple of days. I'm not sure why. At the end of the day it really doesn't matter why...I just need to get it done.

Have a great day, everyone!

Thank you girls - today I got up at 5:30 - back to bed till 830 breakfast of eggs and lo carb almond bread and laid on couch for another half hour then did dress and to church and very slow walk through grocery for week's supply.

lunch of grilled sandwich and juice and tea - nap - short computer time another nap - and then light supper - no tracking foods - just going to be me and doing my best. Deep ache all over and not sure if it is fibro or a viral something... saw the Dr nurse in store and she said Dr not in office tomorrow - so Tuesday before seeing him - Going to keep on keeping on. Love you and please forgive the whining. - I WILL GET BETTER!!!

Thanks for the love and care --- have decided I need to take a week away from THM efforts nd ease back into basic calorie counting Health needs the calorie control but stress too much for the separating fuels right now - Also going to take my fibro med for one week to get it under control - will definitely check in with Dr on Monday as immune system is breaking down too.

Thank you Candy. Today I'm just in a deep painful ache stage. My body responds to stress with general pain [fibromylgia] and yet I hate to take medication for it when I can identify the source and not be hooked on meds - so upping the magnesium a bit and extra fluids. I'm tired and weepy - not interested in much of anything. Family notes keep me up on how nephew family is doing - still so sad but they are working hard at making even this stage of life positive - lots of pictures of happier days.

Thanks for the encouragement for cauliflower - I keep seeing this idea and just can't get my nerve worked up to try it ...Maybe soon!!!

I am so tired of struggling with emotions in my life the last few months - got two more blows today - I knew they were probables yesterday but the finality of today has grieved me deeply - three of a family and their pilot lost in Alaska in the village of dear friends and our estranged son. Though we did not know this family, we went through the "what -ifs" yesterday when we knew a family was lost but did not get confirmation it was "not our own" until late in the evening but still so sad for this loss for this close community in the Alaska Bush.
Then my nephew who has been fighting Brain cancer for a little over a year suddenly changed course and prognosis and abilities and now will have very little time on hospice before he flies away to heaven leaving a very young widow and 4 small children. Heart breaking on top of just losing my eldest brother to cancer. Makes for lots of tears even with our faith and confidence of heaven. Struggle with stress eating but surprised how much the constant GGMS available in the kitchen helps detract from other munchies. .

I'm finally learning to separate my eggs - have the yolks for S meal and whites for S meal or even a FP some times...

Loving that butternut squash has some fiber - it is a constant battle for me to get enough fiber in - no teeth to chew with so vegies have to be steamed or sauted to fairly soft - takes the fun out of a lot of them!!!

Baked Chicken in the oven - no fancy anything - just 6 # Chicken with rosemary, thyme, sage, onion and sea salt for three hours - in one of those old dark blue with white speckled enamal pans - left lid on first two hours, then open and put in butternut squash in beside it in separate pan - let then set 20 minutes after turning heat off and oh my.... good eating...

Slipped the two breast pieces into container to tuck in the freezer - hubs got leg and thigh - I took a thigh and kept the leg for another meal later. 1 cup of the squash has 22 carbs.

So that is a glorious "E" meal of less than 5 fats and up to 45 Carbs ... what would you add to it?

Having my evening tea in form of GGMS - Red Zinger tea with rum extract and dash of pumpkin pie spice and Truvia sweetener. Just not really sticking to plan very well with sorting out some medicine issues and having ulcer pain the last few weeks - finally getting things lined out but have needed more grain [dry toast!!!] to get that in control - today was first moonshine and only used a little ACV in it so not too acidic. Scales are staying the same - and clothes the same too - but content with healthy feeling and no gain.

The fuel cycle a few weeks ago was educational for getting the different plans solidly in my mind. Still love the principles of this lifestyle even if I have not mastered all of it.

Hello Ladies! Thought I'd come and introduce myself. I started THM in about mid-September and have been a little rocky as far as staying on 100%, but I made myself a promise that I have to do better and better. My goal for December is to be on plan about 90%. I am happy with my loss, even though I am a turtle: I've lost about 13.5 lbs, and knowing that I haven't been on more than 80%, then I can't complain. I want to see if upping my % on plan makes a big difference.

I have been trying to lose weight for at least 20 years! Sigh. I am stubborn and not disciplined. I have periods where I do great on a "diet" and actually lose weight -- I have probably lost the same 40 lbs about 4 times! Now though, it's double that that I need to dump!!

I am really hoping that this is the LAST eating plan I need to have success! Looking forward to listening, learning and being encouraged by you ladies!

Spark On!

Not all who wander are lost....they're just looking for their cuppa coffee

Checking in early this Sunday morning to "get my Trim on" attitude and encouragement... needed it as the scale was harsh this morning

On the books - I borrowed Daughters first, then got my own plan book and then was gifted the cookbook - I am just not a recipe book kind of person bit learn daily from reading on line here and facebook has a group for almost every need - their beginner page overwhelmed me with too many posts but I still peak at it occasionally and yes Gwen's nest is a wonderful help!

Also the different thread right here on this team are fantastic!!!

Hi, Shake! I just checked Amazon and it's about $12 for the new plan book, $16 for the cookbook, and you can get a used original book for about $13. Also, try the library. I know you can't write in them and all that but you can read the plan and take notes.

Hi, everyone. It's a rainy weekend here so I think we're going to get some Christmas decorations done today. We're a little late this years, but we'll get it done.

Candy, good luck at your grandmother's. I'm sure she is very thankful you are able to help her! As for food, just do the best you can.

Linda, I also battle with obedience over rebellion. I have all my life in most areas. I'm glad I'm not alone, but sorry you're struggling, too.

I also set monthly goals. mine are based on how many minutes of exercise I'll get, how many days I'll eat on plan, and how many days I'll avoid alcohol. I like wine and cocktails, but they are not helpful for my health goals. At the end of each month I see how many days I actually did each thing or how many minutes I exercised and calculate a percentage, like a grade. Last month I got an 85% in exercise minutes (850 of 1000 minutes) but I failed on plan and limiting alcohol. I know where I need to improve at least. Can you tell I was a teacher for so ling, lol?!

I'm making S chili for dinner, maybe with some Swiss bread for DH and myself. DD has requested cornbread. For some reason I have a box of Jiffy cornbread way up o the top shelf of the pantry and she saw it. I also plan to make another Trimtastic Zucchini Cake. I have a couple of zucchinis in the fridge. Yesterday, I made a copycat version of gentle sweet since I"m out so I'll try that in the cake. I ordered some from the THM store but I'm sure they were bombarded with orders during their cyber Monday sale.

Have a great Saturday!

Linda, sounds like you are doing good!

I managed to gain 4 lbs over thanksgiving! Back mostly on plan, had a luncheon at work and had a few off plan foods. I'm spending the next three days with my grandmother, and she just got out of the hospital. She had knee surgery, and I'm not sure how well I will eat there!

Dec 1 I usually write new or refreshed goals at beginning of each month
I think this month will just be repeats ---

Still dreaming of that ONE-derland of being under 200# ---will it ever come???
Still need to get beyond having sugar in my life ---matter of obedience over rebellion
Still trying to consistently group the correct fuels together.

Succeeding in Gluten free/Celiac 100% compliance - occasional cross-contact error
Successful in working into taking new medication routine for neuropathy
Successful in NOT gaining back what I have lost except for water weight 1 or 2# fluctuations
Was successful in getting through 2 week fuel cycle challenge - not perfect but learning !!!

I have not yet recovered from Thanksgiving! My DH left on Saturday for work, and then my Grandmother had knee surgery on Monday. This week has been off. My DD had to stay with my SIL today, and she wasn't happy about it!

I started a 28 day blitz exercise regimen! I'm on day 2, and I am sore! It is supposed to help your core, which I need help with. I have a herniated disc, and the PT said my core strength was bad! No sit-ups or crunches though!

How is everyone doing?

Linda, I'm glad my picture makes you smile! Looking like that was awesome! Those clothes aren't that big on me anymore, but they ARE still too big, which I am happy about. I lost all that weight on Nutrisystem. It was quick and easy but I didn't use the maintenance guidelines to stay at that weight. I was just so tired of restricting myself. Add stressful job, time, and complacency and here I am about 60 pounds heavier than in that picture.

Enter THM. I want to cook, because I have always loved to cook. I want to eat actual, healthy foods my great grandmother would recognize. (She may not recognize flax meal, but whatever!) I want to live in food freedom, not counting calories, fat, carb grams, or points. THM still seems too good to be true but I have committed to giving it time. I have follow-up bloodwork done in April to see if cholesterol has dropped. I will not waver until then. My family loves the foods I make, and we are all healthier. This time I'm going for health, not a clothing size. Hopefully, I can have both!

Emily, I smile every time I see your picture - my clothes are looser but nothing like that!!! I have decided I must get a couple new bras for "dressup" occasions - the others are fine for at home but the new fitted top especially really NEEDS better fit undergarment. Fun!

Linda and Candy, glad to hear you spent good times with family.

DD and DH are back to work and school today. I plan to make a THM dessert for us today, likely Trimtastic Cake, since I have zucchini in the fridge. I'll also do a meal plan for my lunches to help keep me on track this week. I have done a good job of getting back to THM after Thanksgiving, so I just need to build momentum.

There's a Black Friday sale in the THM store on their website. I may get some more supplies. I wonder if it's cheaper to make my own Gentle Sweet and Baking Blend or buy theirs?

Have a great Monday!

Husband and I have had two lovely days with daughter - emotions still high after death of my brother and her dear uncle but adjusting and thankful for good report from his wife and adult children - doing well with their first holiday without Roger.

She helped us put up the tree and got the lights on and the boxes of other decor out for me.

We are both celiac so had total success with that part of our diet...I remember the years when it was a stress, now is just natural and 100% gluten free. She has been working at THM for longer than I but we made good strides and were laughing that in a few years it will all be so natural to us just like Gluten free.

We did have some sugars and some combinations that were not ideal and time spaces were definitely off but we had fun, feel good and thankful for our plenty.
Back to full plan tomorrow nd looking forward to scales showing the benefits with each passing week. Enjoying a Blueberry GGMS this evening.

Headed to my parents for the weekend. We had Thanksgiving with my DHs family yesterday. Lots of off plan goodies, but that's ok.

My dad is gluten intolerant, so I made some THM stuff to have. There will still be a little off plan, but at least I have choices!

Our day ended up being very relaxed. It was just myself, DH, and DD. Our in laws cancelled at the last minute. We have lots of turkey left over. DD didn't make her pie but I did find a recipe for pumpkin fluff that didn't use instant pudding or cool whip so we made that. I used sugar free maple flavored syrup but it didn't call for any other sweetener. It ended up needing some so we added as we went.

We went and saw "Trolls" in the late afternoon than drove around marveling at the crowds shoppping for Black Friday on Thursday. I've never been a Black Friday shopper. Crowds annoy me when I'm trying to get something done! Specifiacally, there is a JC Penneys by the theater and I've never seen so many people there. What on Earth did they have that was so tempting, I wonder?

I am getting right back on plan today. I'm deciding between bacon and eggs with spinach or French toast in a bowl for breakfast today. I got a new notebook for recording my meals so I'm ready to go.

Linda, when you said your daughter asked about on plan cookies I couldn't help but think of the Almond Joy Cookies I've seen everywhere on the THM Facebook pages. I may make some of those to keep around for treats.

I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a great holiday. Let's get right back to the business of making ourselves as healthy as we can!

Looking forward to healthy Thanksgiving - Daughter asked if I had any on-plan cookies ... I laughed and said I didn't think so ... oh well - we will do our best and know we will be way ahead of the usual.

We are deep in preparations today. House cleaning will be finished, DD will bake her pie. I feel like I have all my planning done. Made my list and timed everything out. We are expecting my SIL, nephew, friend of SIL (I've met her and enjoy her company), and her son who is a friend of our nephew. BIL has to work at a restaurant but will be here later.

DD totally baled at the idea of not including my famous mashed potatoes and stuffing. DH asked that I not require her to make her pie (it's a pumpkin cheesecake thing) sugar free, even though it would be easy to do. We also have a pecan pie from Sam's, which we always have. There will be no leftovers on that pie, it always goes fast! I am making some roasted cauliflower for me and anyone else, and I will have that as a side, along with small amounts of the potatoes and a spoon of stuffing. DH and I have decided to try to eat as healthfully as we can and get right back on track Friday. I think that's a good plan.

I hope everyone else has a great Thanksgiving!

Blood pressure is down better today and feeling less chest tightness and ring is loose and no support hose today - feeling good.

Just finished the two week fuel cycle challenge and feeling a little at loose ends as to what to concentrate on next - just going to emphasize the three hour rule a bit stronger and careful meal by meal and mix up the types a bit. See if I can apply things I learned in the fuel cycles.

Looking forward to simple Thanksgiving meals and enjoy the day - God bless each of you with Thankfulness and JOY.

Well the scales were kind - maintained wt but fear some of that is water with congestive failure.
I kept pretty low calories = E and fuel pull today and nap again
Blood pressure is up a bit so will see if the scale drops and lungs less congested tomorrow - may have to go in and have a nurse check me tomorrow if still concerned - Congestive heart failure is touchy with different foods, sleep and stress.
I wore the strong support hose and tried to take good care of me. I so hope getting more weight off will help the heart out too.
Made crockpot veggie soup for our simple supper and going to turn in early.

Good to be home and having a spot of tea on my front porch with you!!
Memorial service for my brother was glorious, I am so thankful and it helped begin some easing of grief. I also felt encouraged with health of his dear wife - seems to be holding steady and is such a gracious, simple elegant lady - a true sister to me. One of my siblings is not dong well with the loss, and is actually breaking my heart - seems like I have lost two brothers. But trusting that his grieving will lead to strength and healing in time and sooner rather than later.
Am back on plan tomorrow - actually did fairly well the last week with good choices of foods except portions out of wack!!!
Will weigh in tomorrow and get a scope of how I am doing - lungs feel a bit congested - time to take care of me.
