Hi, everyone. I've been quiet, but I'm still here.

I weighed today. I said I was going to give it a month but I just couldn't stay off the scale. I'm about 4 pounds down from my mid October weight but 2.5 up from my November 1 weight. I've been indulging too much in adult beverages with DH. We cut them out this week so I'm sure the drop was dramatic, I just didn't see the new high weight.

I'm not sure what I think about daily weighing. I did it for years and as long as I was following whatever food plan I was on, I'd eventually lose, even with the daily ups and downs. I know the important thing is whether I'm following my food plan or not. Period.

On that note, the Facebook THM Challenge group has a new challenge starting today. I'm not sure when it ends, they're usually 30 days. The challenge is to have either an OP shake or salad for lunch and FP snacks. Continued exercise is encouraged with a target of 7500 steps. We're also to go back and reread the basics of the plan. On Thanksgiving we are to simply make smarter choices then get right back to it. I personally started yesterday and did well.

Always good to see everyone! Have a great day!

I haven't posted in a while. I am still doing THM, and I have a one year plan to be at my goal weight. I am in a plateau right now, but have upped my excercise regime. I am probably only 85% on plan, but have a long term goal to make it to 95%.

I went on a cruise and didn't gain any weight! Go me!

I started a blog about self improvement, part of that being my health, including THM. It is misadventuresofcandace.com

I wish everyone (US residents) a Happy Thanksgiving! emoticon

Phyllis, 30# down is miraculous and fantastic and awesome!! emoticon emoticon emoticon I know all about wearing wrong shoes too. The ones with skinny high heels are so pretty and I love them, but don't dare go there anymore!! And then, thank goodness there are more choices now, that aren't elderly looking, but are pretty too, and comfortable.

Take care everybody, and have a good Thursday!! We're supposed to get a huge storm with first rain and then ice and then lots of snow!!!

Its been awhile since I posted - but I have tracked every single day and every single meal -
To all of you - Awesome at your successes! I am so very happy for you!
To Linda - My sympathies - thoughts and prayers as you travel through your grief. The greatest gift you can give yourself is time for your grief - in all of its forms.

I broke through a couple of plateau's and have achieved a 30+ lb loss so far. However, more than the scale numbers - I am loosely fitting into a size 10 pants and M-L tops - which for me is bigger than the scale numbers. And even bigger is how I feel - better than I have in over a decade and a half.

DH and I took that trip to Las Vegas for his 50th birthday - and I felt awesome - the only time I walked with pain (not from my knees and ankles screaming at me) - was a day of bad shoe choices ;-). I stayed on plan quite well.

To all of you - I wish you the most wonderful day possible!

Thanks for sharing the link to the pizza crust. Do you know if can use THM baking blend in same quantity as the baking blend she mentions?

Linda, I'm so sorry to hear of your brother's passing. emoticon I'm glad you were able to look through pictures and get some smiles. Grief takes as long as it takes. emoticon

Karen Splenda is not considered on plan for THM. I had quite a bit left when I first started and I do still use it occasionally, kind of a personal choice thing for me. I just want anyone else reading this to know it's not a plan-approved sweetener. Gentle Sweet does taste great and it's powdered so it's ready to go for skinny chocolate.

I've not been feeling well for the past couple of days. I feel like I may have a cold, o it could be allergies since weed pollen is high here. I had a week full of social stuff last week which led to more wine consumption than usual, so I could also simply be run down. My throat is sore, my chest is rumblier than normal, and my ears hurt a bit. I will see if I feel better after a few days of healthy habits. Day 1 was yesterday. I did sleep better.

I meant to have a singing canary yesterday, since it has turmeric and vitamin C but I forgot and by the time I remembered it was after dinner and my throat wanted something warm. So I found a recipe for Golden Milk and tried it. It was awesome! I plan to make the large batch of powder and simply mix some up every night for a while. Here's the site I used: wellnessmama.com/223/turmeric-tea-re
ci
pe/
I used 1 doonk of stevia instead of the honey. I highly recommend this!

I need to get my weekly dinner plan going. We have a large whiteboard in our entry hall near the kitchen (DH and I are both teachers and it was in my classroom at one point. DH used it to help DD with algebra last year so it came in from the garage.) and I write the dinners we plan to have each week. It helps me feel more in control to know I already have dinner planned each night! Here's what we're having this week:

Mon: roasted salmon
Tues: chicken thighs
Wed: cheeseburger pie
Thurs: shrimp tacos
Fri: pizza
Sat: turkey breast tenderloin
Sun: leftover turkey breast tenderloin

I am not sure what kind of pizza crust I'll use for DH and myself. DD will have regular pizza.

I better get off the porch and go get some breakfast going. It's either THM pancakes or oatmeal and egg white or toast and cottage cheese. Have a great day!

Watchmego, thank you for your opinion on sweeteners. I've tried Splenda and Stevia. Splenda seems to be more palatable to me than the Stevia. I need to look up the recipe for the Gentle Sweet. That's probably the #1 choice for me besides Pyrue (sp?), that I haven't tried yet.

Oh how I treasure this front porch and my own too.
Sitting sipping a delicious peach/vanilla chai GGMS with a dash of rum flavoring. Very soothing and scrumptious and that ACV just tickles the roof of my mouth enough to make me smile!!!

Got the news of brother passing Thursday evening and yesterday was harsh, raw kind of grief of hearing nd seeing and reading the grief of others. Today is much more gentle, enjoying looking back through pictures of the past and smiling a lot for the old times.

Also good to have a deep S breakfast and lunch then a couple of E meals before starting week 2 of FC challenge. I'm not staying perfectly on course but being so much more healthy than ever before through emotional crisis. I feel good health-wise! God is good!!

Front porch things on my mind - good day 3 on the fuel cycle challenge been listening to election things all day and blow by blow from husband this evening all mixed together with tears of thoughts, preparatory grief and feelings about dear brother nearing death [I wrote a blog about it] I am exhausted and thankful for peaceful home and time in my life to let myself process this.
Thank you gals for being here for me.

Sweeteners....I still use Splenda from time to time. I also really like the Gentle Sweet mixture but I will see if I can get the ingredients and make it myself. I think it's way cheaper to do that. The sweet treats I've made have all turned out so well. I made the BAM cake yesterday, with Splenda, and my family has nearly eaten it all already! DH requested some of the pay off day candies so I plan to make those today. I'll sub chopped almonds and almond butter since I don't have peanuts. I'll use whatever sweetener it calls for, I forget what it is. I have several kinds since i was trying to find one I liked when I first started dabbling in THM about a year ago.

Linda, that is a beautiful poster. Thanks for sharing it! I was reading your fuel pull thread. Your breakfast of eggs, bacon, and spinach is my very favorite breakfast of all time! I just had it yesterday. Today I think it will be French Toast in a Bowl.

Karen, we do have a lot in common! What sweeteners have you tried? I like stevia in liquids. I also do use it in baked stuff, just not chocolate. Truvia is what I get. I hear good things about Pyure at Walmart, but I've never tried it. My Truvia is gone so maybe I'll replace it with Pyure. I hear it's not as bitter as straight stevia.

I was reviewing my picture file of "Perseverance- Don't give up" and wanted to share a lavender poster for the next two week challenge I am doing through the fuel cycles. I am determined to see the ONE-derland before Christmas and hoping to see it in this two weeks.

I do ;like the truvia in my tea but haven't tried any larger baking adventures with any "on plan things .... Truvia brand also has a brown sugar substitute that I have used on squash and a few other simple recipes. Really wanting to make some of the skinny chocolate - dear daughter made some once and oh my it was good!!!
Will let you kow what I learn to do in my moving forward with THM lifestyle.

Good thinking, Linda. Let me know how the sweetener test goes, ok? I still am so leary of buying them with how I don't care of any alternative sugars and I don't want to waste money.

It is fun to read you girl's chat about scales
I have to weigh each morning due to heart failure concerns - if up a 3# couple of days I have to check in and let Dr check me which is $$$$ extra incentive to leave the sugar and salt shaker alone!!!
Having said that, I know that it is good to weight in on Wednesdays for my weight loss efforts because it is the morning least affected by other people's cooking and social events and the most stable in the long haul.
I have been debating about the investment on THM sweeteners - now that I have been "around the plan" for about a year, I think it is time to invest and to really use the cookbook for a month or two. and what better months than Nov and Dec when so many food adds are out and feasts tempting and social events that need special items taken to them that re "safe for me" In a way, having been celiac-gluten free has an advantage, most of the social things are now used to me bringing "my own thing" so now I can just branch out a little and include THM foods along with being gluten free....just have to find time and expertise to make them special.

Thanks for you reply, Emily. I really think I'm going to have to give up on making the different sweets, because I have been so addicted to sugar, nothing will taste right, and then with having 2 dogs in the house also. Ugh. I wouldn't want to have one drop fall to the floor. I know what you mean about our bodies fluctuating! I had too salty popcorn one night and was up in the morning and then the next day, not any salt at night and the next morning, I was down 3#. So it really does make a difference to stay off the scale, I feel! Discouraging at times! emoticon You are doing so awesome!!!

Karen, I followed the recipe exactly as written so I used gentle sweet. I got that when the THM store had their sale last month. I really like it and want to find a recipe to make my own.

I've use xylitol in a caramel sauce recipe and it was a bit unpleasant for my system since i ate a LOT of the caramel sauce! Gentle sweet does have xylitol, but it's mixed with erytritol and stevia. We don't have dogs so I don't have to worry about that.

The treeces were absolutely fabulous! DH and I are trying to make them last. We still have several left.

Candylynn, those first few days back on plan are the hardest.

I've tried to stay off the scale. I really have. I am in a challenge here on SP that weighs every Wed. I also always weigh the first of the month. So I weighed Tues, saw the #, then had to weigh again Wed. The number was about 2lbs higher than the day before. No biggie I told myself. BUT.....I didn't want to see that weight as my most recent so I weighed again today. Now I am half a pound lower than Tues! So, I will stay off the scale until next Wed.

We had tacos Tuesday night. Maybe they were salty? But I ate leftover taco meat for lunch yesterday on a salad so I guess it wasn't that. It's funny (NOT!) how the body fluctuates in weight so much day to day.

As far as the other indicators of success, like staying on plan and fitting into clothes better, I'm good. My shirts are fitting better already and I will try yo be patient for the pants to get bigger!

I stopped at sonic and got a foot long cheese coney and then ate about 10 pieces of my daughter's candy!

I was on vacation last week, and I came back determined to get back on plan, but I guess I got over my post vacation high, because I have been in a funk for the last few days!

I really want to save up to go on vacation next year, and lose the last 30-35 lbs! But my motivation is gone! And I got out of the THM habit on vacation!

Emily, that is so awesome. You're in a perfect mind-set for losing. That's a huge NSV!! This morning, I ate a few candy corn and roasted peanuts and that was my little payday bar. Did you use Xylitol for the sugar part? I'm afraid to have that around with our 2 dogs in the house. I need to buy some Gentle Sweet and Super Sweet to make a few candies that can take the place of the real thing, but not to hog them.

Judy, way to go on your 14# loss! That's super-duper!

I peeled apples all morning and I'm shot! So I'm relaxing now with SP!!

I have a giant Halloween NSV,...I had ZERO Halloween candy this year!!! I did make sure I had some on plan treats for me and DH to have if we felt the need. I made treeces and payoff day candies. OMG, they were so good! We didn't overdo those, though. DH took the leftover candy to work so the only candy in the house is DD's haul from hast night. She did go through it and got rid of about half of it. We used to tell her the Great Pumpkin would give her $ if she gave him half of her candy. She knows it's not the Great Pumpkin now, of course (she's 14!) but I did put $ at her breakfast spot today. We do the same at Easter with the Money Bunny. Kids get so much candy for stuff, at least she does. I wanted to find a way to manage that and i read about the Great Pumpkin and the Money Bunny somewhere when she was really little so we've just always done that.

I don't even want sugar anymore. I sat and went through DD's candy with her and she got a lot of Reese's and Snickers, which were my kryptonite. Last night I felt nothing. I love THM!

Waving hi! I just discovered this plan yesterday and it looks too good to be true! I say that in a positive way! I just downloaded the book and will incorporate some of the meals immediately.

I have a 45 year history of yo-yo dieting, but for several reasons am totally committed now to make healthful changes for the long term. I've been doing THE PLAN - an anti-inflammatory and elimination diet protocol of sorts - but it's way too restrictive and I know if I look at a Cheeto the wrong way I'll gain back the 14ish lbs I lost in the last 2 weeks. So, this looks really great and so doable.

Look forward to getting to know you!

Judy

HI, everyone. I've been here a couple of times before. I love THM but sometimes I get too caught up in the scale instead of using my habits to determine if I had a good day. I'm determined to give THM a fair shot this time. I've given up daily weighing and plan to gauge my progress by trying on a shirt and a pair of pants I can't quite get into yet. My wedding ring slips right on again so I know I'm losing inches.

ShakeRattle, I try to have 1 E meal a day. Today it will be breakfast. I find the S meals very easy so I have to plan to get another type of meal in.

I made the Trimtastic Zucchini cake Friday. My family LOVED it! NO one could tell there was zucchini in there. My DH did ask what veggie was in it. I asked him why he thought there was a veggie in it. He said "because the sisters always have some kind of vegetable in the desserts" which I thought was funny. I will definitely make it again. Today I plan to make Treeces and maybe Payoff day candies. I have a lot of things planned for today, so I really need to get moving!

Have a great day!

There really is no set way to eat S, E, r FP meals. However, what I did when I started was eating either E or S for the entire day until I got familiar.

I feel kind of out of it, but I really don't know what a fuel pull cycle really is. I'm concentrating on E and S meals, but it's the easiest for me and I'm never sure if I'm doing them right or not.

I wish I could have cole slaw, but that's a no-no, because of being Hypothyroid. Any raw cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, etc., makes the medicine not work as well. I am lucky that I love all these veggies cooked and that includes brussel sprouts, turnips. Yum!

I love the cole slaw, I cheat and buy a bag of cole slaw and add just mayo, vinegar and some sweet blend, and touch of celery salt..very good..

Hi Linda, I have done a fuel pull cycle and it was kind of like dieting, but I did lose like 5 lbs if I recall.

It is worth a shot IF YOU are already comfortable with the E, S and FP concept.

Good luck!

Bringing my hot cup of tea out to the porch to chat - wondering if any have done the fuel cycle plan before and how you felt doing that.
There is a group on Facebook that is getting ready for a two week cycle from Nov 6-19th and I am planning to do that - is it appropriate to share my progress on this team as well?
I've never done this but really wanting to give it a good try.
One of the gals shared a menu today - so will study that next and want to put some of my November grocery money into carefully selected helps and foods. Looking forward to a strong effort andyes some struggles and yet fully expecting some positive things to come from it.

Back from vacation - [with Daughter who has seen more success with THM than I have - we didn't get out the book at all but so many times we would be supportive to each other with little reminders to drink our water, to have that protein plain, to have get in a salad a day and to eat clean.

Now to settle down, get on plan and peal off so more pounds!!!

I've had a great week back on plan. I'm actually excited for my Sunday weigh-in. My husband has been enjoying Trim healthy meals and is always a little surprised when he finds out "it was a recipe from the book." Best discovery this week? The coleslaw recipe in the book. I've been looking for years for just the right recipe and for us, this is it! So simple and a perfect side to baked chicken!

Getting healthy is like getting through boot camp. It's a lot of hard work, and some days you want to quit. But when graduation day arrives, memories of pain and trouble pale in the light of the pride and accomplishment you feel. You made it! You didn't quit.

Thanks for sharing, Phyliss. I am still not completely clear about the THM plan. In remedial THM trying to learn.

I just had an apple with SF Smucker's Caramel sauce before logging on! I loved it!

I fit fruit into my Breakfast every morning - I add it on top of my overnight oats and nuke (I like warm oats and fruit. - I like blueberries (frozen - and nuked) and other mixed berries (I always buy frozen for my oats) - occasionally I mash up a small banana and mix it into my oats before nuking...
OH - And I gotta tell you - I found a great natural food store - and they have Dried Cranberries sweetened with Apple juice (I cannot find dried cranberries that are NOT sweetened..UGH) - a tablespoon of those on my oats and I am in HEAVEN!!!..love the tangy bites!)

Often I will take green grapes with me in a snack size bag - to have as one of my "snack" meals - along with some almonds or other nuts.

I rarely eat apples - but this is a good year for them - (being in New York - we grow dem apples)..so, I find small size and throw them in my lunch tote and munch on one every couple of days.

Today I brought some fresh pineapple with me for my afternoon snack - so that I have some good energy bites before I hit the gym after work.

I tend to be a savory person - so, I have to make a conscious effort to get my servings of Fruit in. However, as sugar has gone bye bye for so long - fruit has become my sweet Fix when I just gotta get me some.

Welcome back! - And Happy Fall to ALL!

Also, how are you working fruit into your eating?

Forgive me for bombarding with questions this morning. Also, forgive the dumb question: I'm in remedial THM :)

I'm back. Last week I was more on plan than off. I've had a hard time of getting back on plan since returning from vacation in June. I caught up on reading this thread.

Phyliss, You are amazing!!!!

THM veterans, if you eat sandwiches on Joseph's pita bread, what do you put with it?

It's sure good to think like THM teaches, that we need to get right back on plan asap. I love that because we can do that!! I try not to blow the whole day away, with having a bad stress moment. We really have to stop and think though and we know how to do it!!!

High stress days still take me back to sugar - I pass up a lot of things I used to fall for but still gave in on the third day of it --- and got a McDonald's chocolate shake to get me home the last lap 2 and a half hours of driving this morning .... So came back to basics of good protein lunch and trying back on track this evening .... Monday morning tomorrow is fresh start and ths week I will try hard to get on Plan suppers mastered, Breakfast and lunch are coming easier - and time to get back to the study of the book - God bless you each one as you plan your HEALTHY week of eating

Linda -
Thanks for sharing your GGMS twist - will definitely give that one try. yummy.
I can just picture your view from the front porch - I also live in a very country setting - albeit I am not a neighbor to our areas corn fields.
I have been living THM since late may - early June and have continued tracking via Spark People throughout. I find, for myself, that keeping both the lifestyle fueling balanced - along with Tracking calories - keeps my progress and head in check. It works for me. Psychologically I had a hard time with actually eating more and more often on THM ( I was a horrible feast or famine kind of gal for too many years)..so, tracking the calories while staying on THM plan and even the occasional XO/OP..along with the calorie tracking - fit for my brain to accept that I could allow myself to continue doing this lifelong.
Example - I work full time - drive 2 hours per day - and after a dinner at 5:30 pm or so - sometimes the "hungry" bug strikes me at 8:30pm or so - and instead of depriving myself - I check off in my head - has it been 2.5 hours or so since my last meal? What was my last meal type ? Where am I in my calories for the day? - and I give myself permission to go ahead and fuel my body the right way. It's been a big break through for me - this is not a diet - its a lifestyle - and not about depriving myself - which would be like a diet and would not be sustainable.
so, in a nutshell - do what works for YOU ! Good Luck and Happy Fall!
