Yep... that's the body's response to wanting to find a way to keep moving forward and that is a quick pick me up. I've been struggling since I went through menopause. I have had no symptoms except for night sweats, which are enough to drive a person crazy.

I read once that empaths (people who take on others emotions) have a tenedency to be insomniacs because the nights are when they are filtering all the energies they picked up on during the day.

I too need to work on my sleeping patterns. I love being up late because everyone is in bed, there isnít any chaos and itís a time to reconnect with my and filter my day mentally. But by impending healthier options and meditation on a regular basis I find I can refocu in better sleep. It itís automatic if I donít sleep I reach for caffiene drinks like soda and yummy carb asked foods

I find that tracking currently is helping me see what is needed for my body and what isnít. Itís giving me guidelines on how to reconnect with listening to the language of my relationship with food. From there I can have clearer connection with intutive eating. In order to connect with my intuition as an intutive and meditation guide I have to slow down and refocus my energy. Well the tracking for now is a way for me to do so. A tool to keep me mentally grounded in the reality of my current eating style, and a mirror to learn what directions are better. Once I have established a new pattern then I can explore the intutive connection with eating in a fresher more balanced prespetive.

I agree, more sleep and more structure to my day are the foundation to an easier day and less struggle with eating.
But it is soo easy, at least for me, to go to sleep too late.
I have to exercise better discipline in this area if i want everything else to follow.

i started thinking while i eat and asking how much, what and why do i want it withoug judging it as good or bad.

a common answer is ...drumroll,, i am TIRED or SLEEPY. ill want sugary, sweet or caffine in the afternoon. i get about 6.25 hours on work night. and i have been working 10 hr days. so i am constantly under the 8 hours recommended.

apparently a major key to living more mindfully or intuitively is to get more sleep.

I totally agree about the experiment of one. I also am becoming more relaxed as I get in the groove of this. I did switch my "pounds lost" ticker over to "sparkpoints", just in keeping with the spirit of the team. I'm also obsessing less about food (with the exception stupid Candy Bar Halo Top last Saturday) and finding real joy in just enjoying a meal.

We've been cold here, but we don't get snow where I live in California. That means no excuses for anything... lazy ain't an excuse, but a cop out!!!

Totally right about eating when you're not hungry!!!

I think we are all an experiment of one. As far as I am concerned, my first step is to really go to the mindset that no food is off limits. Because if it is off limits, I will feel like cheating when I eat it that perticular food and forget about taste or a feeling of satiety .
I find myself to be a lot more relaxed around food now .I am not obsessing about food now that I have this mindset

Of course it would be fantastic if I lost a few pounds right away in the process. But right now i feel so good to be able to think of other things than food and have my life back.

It is very cold and snowy here, so that I cannot go out to buy a bigger variety of foods, but I just try to see what kind of taste or texture I am after and allow myself to have it, that is, until I don't feel hungry anymore.

And more importantly, i don't eat when I am not hungry to start with.
Because , if I eat when I am not hungry, I will not be able to notice when I am full, right?

It's pretty amazing what our bodies tell us. I am getting better about listening, for sure. And when I say body, I don't mean my brain or my mouth. Hahaha. They lie all the time.

Interesting thing... my husband bought me some Halo Top ice cream, one is caramel something or other and then one called Candy Bar. The caramel is really good and I was able to enjoy a serving without "obsessing" about more. Candy Bar, on the other hand, was good, but honestly, not as good as the other. BUT, I had a hard time putting it down. I ate a serving, but kept obsessing about eating more. The brain saying, "It's okay, a whole carton is only blah, blah, blah calories and fat." And my mouth was right there with it chanting, "Eat it, eat it, eat it." I didn't, but I had to go pop a piece of minty gum in my mouth to squash those thoughts.

I'm going to try it again this weekend (when I'm at optimum, desserts have always been weekends only) and see it this scene repeats itself. I know that there are supposed to be no off limits foods, but I can't afford the struggle if I can find something tasty without bringing on obsessive thoughts. I haven't gotten that far into the book to know if that subject is dealt with.

I agree with you. I find this to be a learning process. Yesterday I allowed myself to have the healthier nutella version and 2 slices of pizza.
When i woke up this morning I had brain fog and a sitz on my face.

So my body is reacting in a way that teaches me that this kind of food is not very healthy for me.
This will guide my choices in the future .
Not saying that i will never ever have pizza again, but I know that for me, it is not healthy.
It has not been dictated by a nutritionist or any other guru, but I have and want to listen to the great wisdom of my body.

After so many years of not listening to what my body needs, I'm really working hard to listening to the need and not the want. Such a hard thing to do...

Looking forward to share experiences with fellow travelers. At this point, I am more focused on getting reacquainted with food as a friend.
I am going through the books "diets don't work" by Bob Schwartz and "Brain over Binge".
It does take discipline to do it, I guess i have to "choose my hard".
Looking forward to share the journey.

Hey guys! I would love to talk more about how we can make this group work on a dieting website. I think intuitive eating is important no matter where you are in learning to manage your life without counting calories. I myself still struggle with it. I would like to start this group up to discuss how we can make it fit into our lives overrun with diet culture and our need to "lose weight". What do you think?
