I have bought some of the Ancient Nutritionals that Dr Axe sells on his website but where I bought them locally at health food stores here in town. Anything in particular you were wondering about?

Does anyone here use any of the supplements that Dr. Axe promotes?

If you're getting enough potassium and magnesium (lots of low-carb leafy greens, salt), and you slowly back your carbs down while raising your fats significantly, you shouldn't get keto flu regardless... Dr. Axe has no magic to offer... though his recommendations are sound.

However, if you go directly from 150 grams of carb a day to 20 grams of carb a day, you'll likely get keto flu no matter what sort of fat you eat, or how much of it you eat. The body simply cannot go from burning glucose for fuel to burning fat... there is an adjustment period.

Are you asking if there is a full-proof way of avoiding keto flu?

If so, the answer is no... every body is different... and whether or not you get the keto flu is dependent on how carb sensitive you are, how quickly you adapt to burning fat, and how much salt, potassuium, and magnesium you are getting.

Keto flu is the result of your body flushing out electrolytes too quickly, and not having enough fat available as an alternative energy source. It's the result of a natural and necessary metabolic process.

I can't say I ever had keto flu... I was eating a squeaky-clean paleo diet before keto... simply because I keep my electrolytes high, back my carbs down slowly, while upping my fats into the 80% range. I did, however, get wicked keto rash the first time I pushed my body into ketosis. Now I switch seamlessly between burning glucose and fat for fuel.

How does Dr. Axe specifically suggest you go about getting in to ketosis?

Dr. Jason Fung: "Holy consensus, Batman. With so many 'experts' from Michelle Obama to the USDA to virtually all of the medical professionals (including doctors and dieticians) agreeing that 'Eat Less, Move More' is the way to go, you might think that it is 100% unquestionably true. But here's a queer thought... if we all agree that we know the cure for obesity, and we've spent billions on educations and programs - why are we getting fatter? In other words, why does this 'cure' suck so bad?

It recommends only healthy fats, and says you shouldn't get Keto Flu, so I was wondering if anyone followed how he stated in his book and if they didn't keto flu?

Not sure what you're really asking here... Dr. Axe's guidelines aren't any different than what have always been considered classic keto guidelines: 20 grams of carbohydrates (5% of your total calories), 75% total calories from fat, and 20% of your total calories from protein... so essentially anyone following a standard keto diet is following "Dr. Axe's Keto Plan."

Is there something more specific you're wondering about?
