Hello team.
VROSE1: Great idea to set goals for the new month. A thing I thought I might do is print off the monthly calendar that Sparkpeople has to get some day to day ideas I can do. TOPS has monthly calendars that are great, too.
One of our TOPS members texted last night her 9 year old grandson has a temperature of 101 and she asked for prayer for him. Haven't heard of any other of our chapter having problems. We haven't seen any family members for over 2 weeks - we stay in touch by text. Hope all of you and your families are well. Stay safe.

Good morning team. Hope everyone is doing well. Yesterday our governor said schools will not be open until at least May 01-may extend that date if necessary. Trying to stay busy. Decluttering one room at a time. If this stay at home thing goes on very long I'm going back and start spring cleaning each room-washing walls, etc. Have been reading some and practicing tap routines. We have a tap lesson at noon today using ZOOM. Think finally have that figured out. A few of our TOPS members post a little on Facebook and some our using our cell phone text group to stay in touch. Stay safe everyone.

Hello! Hope everyone had a good day. It was a beautiful 86 degree day here in WV. We enjoyed sitting in our swing on our back deck. I was glad I didn't have to go anywhere today. We're on a stay at home order, but as an essential worker I'm still out every day. It was a very stressful and challenging week. Looking forward to another day of R & R tomorrow.

Good morning team. Hope everyone and their families are doing OK. Some of our TOPS members connected via group text. Some don't want on that for your phone keeps pinging but we haven't been using that very often. We have a Facebook group but I'm mainly the one that posts the others mostly just like. We could do so much more with it but ..
I signed up and listened to a live webinar that TOPS had last night. The topic was Diet Trends of 2020. She discussed the pros and cons of new trends - such as "Keto" & intermittent fasting. They will have this on the website in a couple of weeks. The TOPS website also stress that all TOPS meetings are banned until April 12. They will let us know if the have to extend the ban from that point.
My husband and I went for a 25 minute walk-weather was so nice yesterday, My tap group had a lesson through ZOOM. We will be doing lessons 2 times a week like we did at the YMCA. I did some reading & still working on cleaning & decluttering kitchen cabinets. Just doing a little each day so will get back on that today. I need to stay busy & stay out of the kitchen. LOL Have a safe day all.

At the end of the day yesterday found out the business we owned and which are daughter and grandson works will only be open on a limited basis and only one person from management working. It appears to be more a money flow problem on top of this virus thing. Hopefully this virus situation won't last as long as some are predicting. I know they are trying to impress on us the seriousness of the situation saying it may be around for months. But at the same time those words can be very discouraging and scary and people can start to panic. Had our tap lesson yesterday - had mostly new people on ZOOM so had lots of hiccups but did manage to get some practice in. Hope all of you are coping well and staying on track.

Hope everyone is staying well. Trying to stay in touch with my TOPS chapter using our Facebook group. Not all our members are on it. A few are posting but not using it as much as we could. I read the Facebook post from TOPS Headquarters which different members were posting ways they and their chapters were coping. They had a lot of great ideas. Some were doing an unofficial weigh-in via texts, Facebook or emails. I wish our chapter had thought to do that. Especially since it will be 4 weeks without a weigh-in. I need that to keep me on track. I'm still in leeway but up a little.
Our previous business is staying open since they are an electrical distributor so daughter & grandson is still working. Our son is still working too. Think his factory supplies some necessary products.
Sunday evening my tap class did a test run using ZOOM to get back to lessons. We had just started back to lessons when the YMCA shut down. I had never used ZOOM before. Each person's face was on the screen but I think we finally figured how to get just our teacher on. We're having our first lessons at noon today. Hope it works good. Wish I knew how to hook my laptop to our tv for a bigger picture (my grandson would know how) but not that tech savvy.Would not be connected to ZOOM if my husband couldn't figure these things out. How are all of you coping?

Our governor has declared a stay-at-home order here in Ohio starting at 11:59 tonight. I found some of this totally confusing. News just listing some of the businesses that can stay open but
some don't sound essential to me. Real estate & auto dealers can stay open??? Baffles me. We just sold our business last July. My husband said he's glad he doesn't have to make that decision not to open. He said the list says contractors & their suppliers can stay open. We had an electrical distributor business. Don't know if they can stay open. Our daughter & grandson still work for the business. They may have to apply for unemployment because small business simply doesn't have the funds to pay salaries if they can't stay open. Just have to pray it doesn't get much worse. Each state is different so don't know how this is affecting all of you.

Woke up this morning and didn't know what day it was! Being retired and then staying home with all outside activities such as TOPS meeting, tap lessons, square dancing & YMCA all cancelled confuses the mind. I went to the store yesterday morning otherwise home all the time. Was warm here yesterday and could have went for a walk outside but my husband's back was bothering him so we didn't do that. Cooler today but next week to be warmer so we plan to get go for a walk every day. I've been reading more, working jigsaw puzzles & cleaning & organizing food pantry. What is everyone else doing to stay busy?

Our TOPS chapter has a Facebook account and a few actually posted yesterday mostly just checking in since it was our regular meeting day. I've went to TOPS for so long not going to a meeting is odd. Only about half of our chapter is on Facebook but it was good to hear from them.

I went to bed early last night, then I woke up before 5 am and couldn't go back to sleep until about 5 min before the alarm went off. LOL. I did feel better today and it wasn't as busy. So it was an OK day. I like the HALT quote you posted. Makes sense!

WVROSE1 - Yeah for you that you're in a smaller size.

We were going to walk on the bike path yesterday but ended up at the YMCA. Temperature was great but had a cold wind. Going to be rainy today so will be walking inside. Glad we're getting closer to spring.

Feels like spring here with the sun out and high 50's. The day is going by too fast!

JPISME - All the different contests can be sometimes be overwhelming. Especially when someone first joins. You'll get used to it.
WVROSE1 - Great weigh-in. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Our TOPS meeting was yesterday but I called off. From others texting I think half of the others weren't going either. Because of the snow or other reasons. I seldom miss a meeting. Think the only times I've missed for years was when I had shingles & when my adult son was in the hospital. Hope everyone is looking forward to a good weekend.

I was at my lowest weight in 10 years this morning! emoticon

Tomorrow evening is my TOPS meeting /weigh in. Their scales are normally off by a few pounds but I weigh in the mornings which makes a difference and then the food and water I consume through the day. So I can understand why I weigh more there. I'm sure their scales will still show a loss this week. Yeah! I'm determined to reach goal this year.

Congratulations on your anniversary!

So far I've only missed one meeting due to illness. Otherwise I've been there.
Sometimes I want to weigh in and leave. They have so many games and things going on it can be overwhelming.

Also, I totally understand chatting with yourself. I'm glad you are here too. There have been / are currently groups I experience this. I'm not on every day but trying to do at least once a week (or more).

Hi JPISME. Glad someone else is posting-I was about to stop. I felt no one else was out there. So really glad you're there.
Welcome to TOPS-glad you're enjoying your chapter. I've been a member of TOPS, starting in 1993, for many years. I did drop out a couple of times but always went back. I'm currently a 15 Year KOPS (just realized it is 16 years this month!). It's my second time around as a KOPS. We have a small chapter-only 12 members. One member is in Florida for the winter and one member hasn't come for at least a couple of months though she calls off every week. We had a visitor last week but not sure if she is going to join. She came with 2 current members so hopefully she will come back. Nice to "chat" with you. Stella from Ohio

I miss walking with my friend. It's actually how we became friends. We worked together, the place closed, she called me up one day and said let's meet at park I was like sure and we have been pals since. Job changes for both of us and family obligations have us not meeting up much but when we do it's fun. We had a plank off last time we got together haha

I'm hoping I can figure out a way to get a pool membership to local community pool to do water aerobics. I loved that. I'd like to get in shape enough to actually do laps again. I need lots of cardio (super sad face with lots of tesrs).

For me the weight isn't my biggest concern when I think about my health and where I used to be ( even a few years ago) it's the endurance and speed and stuff that goes into cardio, the breathing. I get winded so fast. Little by little I'll get there.

I joined TOPS in October, we just had three more people start and four people return. We have 20/25 ladies that belong. I'm still learning how things work but enjoying it.

I walk 30 minutes, usually 7 days a week. Our Medigold Insurance pays for Silver Sneakers membership at the YMCA so go there often to walk. My husband and I keep saying we should go down to the exercise room and use the machines but haven't lately. Yesterday we went to the mall to walk. A member of my TOPS chapter and I used to meet at the mall to walk but somehow that fizzled. Think we missed a few weeks and never got back into the habit. I have DVD's I could use at home but somehow never seem to do that. Hey, I may try that today.
Had a good meeting at TOPS yesterday and a friend of 2 of our members was visiting. Not sure if she plans to join. We haven't had a new member in at least a couple of years. Always nice to get someone new.

Hope everyone is doing well. We haven't been to the YMCA this week. Usually my husband and I go at least 2 times a week. Today is Senior stretch at the library and also line dancing at the YMCA. One ends when the other begins so haven't decided which one to go to.

We had a carry in dinner and did our 2019 awards at our Tops meeting last night. A few people gave out Valentines Day cards. I was 1st place for Division 1 for the year!

We did have our TOPS meeting yesterday despite the snow. Streets weren't too bad. My husband dropped me off and picked me up so I didn't have to drive, which was nice. We exchanged valentine's and made a simple craft project. Most of the members showed up.
Hope everyone has a nice Valentine's Day. I didn't get my husband anything but he gave me a small box of candy & a small rose plant. I wasn't expecting those, so that was nice.

BELLACUDDLES-Hope you're getting better day by day. Recovery can be a slow process.

I have TOPS meeting this morning. A little iffy with the weather-we got snow starting last night. All the local schools are open and on time though our county is on a Level 1 Snow Emergency which makes no sense. In that case the schools are usually at least on a two hour delay. I don't like driving in the snow but it should be OK.
Do any of your TOPS chapters do anything special for holidays? We exchange cards-but try not to focus on sweets. One member is bringing in a craft project.

I didn’t sleep well at all last night. I’m not sure why I just didn’t! I am not going to my TOPS meeting tonight. The meeting starts at seven and I’m usually in my nightgown by 4:30… Still tired from the surgery certainly try to plan on it next Monday night.

Thank you… It was nice getting out in the conversations were great except for the hard chair and my friend that drove let me sit on her jacket, but I did have to stand up a few times during the lunch is my bony butt was getting sore! Thursday we had snow so I know I wouldn’t have gotten out that day so very thankful to have gotten out Wednesday!

There are restrictions...no bending, no lifting, no twisting, and I also am wearing daily for 2 hours each a day a bone stimulator that increases bone growth. I'm looking forward to April 15, three months out and our 42nd wedding anniversary!!

I want to be a KOP again really badly and I will!! I am not sure when I am going back to TOPS...I will have to be completely off pain meds and will have to take off this heavy brace that I need to wear for 3 months when sitting or standing!! I have received get well cards from my wonderful TOPS friends and that has been encouraging! I'm using my cane right now...will see if I feel I need to go back to my walker. MAKE it a great day...I am trying!

Glad you're doing well. Are you able to get about on your own? Not sure how extensive your surgery was. Had TOPS meeting yesterday. As a group had a tiny net gain. After the first terrible weigh-in at our first meeting they are doing really well. Being a KOPS, my weight isn't figured in the total. We have a couple who are losing quite a bit while a couple are struggling. This weight loss journey is really hard as everyone well knows. We started a new contest yesterday that I am able to participate in. The group has 2 other contests going-one for the whole year.

Yes, I am home!!! Actually had a very good night...took pain pill at8:30 and did not even need ice;woke up around 2:30, not in much pain. We woke up around 5:30, got up, dressed,pain pill! Feeling pretty good! I have a post op app. this morning we will go to! I'm missing TOPS, but watching what I eat and going to try to get on my scale tomorrow morning. How are you doing?

Thank God for PT and OT and everything I have learned to be able to safely go home on Monday! I haven’t been home since the 15th is so looking forward to that!

It’s slow. Still in pain but it’s to be expected. I’ll know more after assessment today. It’s not Thursday though per physical therapy.

HavingHad the surgery Wednesday on my spine… Not gonna be out here much. I’m in the rehab center now on the seventh floor of the hospital I had the surgery in and in some pain. It’s just gonna take time and patience and trusting in God to get me through this
