Do you have set hours you were hired for? Is it necessary to put in the overtime and do you get paid for that "overtime". I've learned a long time ago that the more you work, the more work they will give you. Are you a one man show? Can you delegate?

I work in a law firm where overtime is mandatory almost daily so I end up working about 50 to 60 hours a week. I too was really stressed and eating whenever and whatever I could. Once I joined Spark, I decided to start my morning by giving the best of myself to me first. My office building has a gym so I roll out of bed, brush my teeth, throw on my gym clothes and head to office gym at 6am. I prepare my bag at night with my work clothes (noting fancy, but office approprite and usually wrinkle free outfitsI. I make green machine smoothies at night and pour them into two 20 oz. water bottles and sip on them throughout the day, which keeps me feeling full from meal to meal. After the gym, I eat a pack of plain instant oatmeal with craisins along with a cup of green tea. When I find it diffcult to get away from my desk, I pick up a large file and take the long way to the copier, adding a set of stairs. I bring my lunch and healthy snacks, like cheddar cheese and melba toast. I also keep a box of kashi cereal in my cupboard and a water bottle of soy milk in the fridge for the days I know I must work late. It ties me over until I can eat a small meal when I get home

I bring my breakfast, lunch and snacks everyday to work so I stay on track. And I also keep some healthy snacks like almonds and fat free popcorn at my desk on days when I'm extra hungry. That works for me. To save time in the morning, I make it the night before.

are you able to take a walk outside during your work lunch everyday? that could help clear your mind for the 2nd part of the work day. otherwise, i would make every effort to go on a walk when you get home. do you have a dog? if yes, make it a point to walk him/her for 20 minutes every evening. both of you will feel much better for it.
