I really miss the SPAT. I have to admit the changes to Spark have been very DISCOURAGING, BUT the 5% Community has become absolutely essential to my Spark experience. I have formed some very valuable relationships that have kept me sparking.

But SPARK PEOPLE - STOP MAKING THESE IMPROVEMENTS - THEY AREN'T!

NOW ON THE POSSITIVE SIDE:

Hi To All my Local Buddies!!!!

I know I've been MIA, but here's what I've been doing. I also posted a new blog entry that I sent to some of you, but it is available on our team page, but here is my report to you!

Here is the beginning of a Non Scale Victory:

The Diploma

The pinning

Finally it stayed in place! It says: "Nursing Assistant" with the traditional nursing cross & shield

Stopping in to say "so long, farewell" and all that jazz. Part of simplifying life is getting rid of of the things that you don't absolutely love. Spark changes over the years, and especially the most recent, fall into that category. After all the promises, I've "lost" all my Spark tracker details because there is no link to the data. For me...last straw!

This site, and especially the SPAT, did wonders to get me on the healthy lifestyle path but I am indeed well on my way - at goal weight for several years and healthy habits well ensconced. I'll get by with the Fitbit but the fun has gone.

I wish you all the best on your journey!

I wanted to say goodbye to everyone! I'm going to miss my SPAT so much!

I am saying goodbye to this team. I got a new computer the end of December. By the time I figured out how to get around in Windows 10, I tried to download the spark set up but it stopped in the middle of the download. After waiting a while to see if it would continue, I went back to the setup page but it said it was no longer available.

I now have a FitBit Zip and it is syncing with Spark People very well.

I have purchased and have the misfit flash. The unit lights up like the spark. Circle of lighted dots however the clasp holder is so cheap it fell off my pants the clip broke on the side of the ring the unit was fine. The watch band is not very durable looking so I won't even try it. I was so disappointed that my husband bought me a fit bit zip. Since I have already logged up my misfit and it is on my spark page I am going to see if I can just find a holder that will work for it. I did need my phone to hook this up. It was not expensive so I guess you get what you pay for. The fitbit zip does not light up like the spark. I did look at the jawbone up move but it says discontinued by the manufacturer on some of the units on amazon. After this heartbreaking thing with the spark the last thing I need is discontinued by the manufacturer. I hope this was of some help to you.

I am looking for some help. I am trying to find a new activity tracker but do not have a computer. The jawbone requires a computer to set it up. Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. Thank you.

I can not get to my Spark Activity Page. Is anyone else having this problem. It just tells me to hit the back button or go to the Start Page. Yesterday it was only doing it only when I tried to go to a different day but know I can't get to the page at all.

I would like to get something very similar to my SPAT. Has anyone found something very similar? I can not afford something that is a lot more expensive, but I liked setting the steps and how it tracked my continuous workouts. Hope there is something!

I'm hoping that someone can answer this. Since the SPAT is being 'officially' phased out, I would like to link my FitBit with my SparkPeople account. (I haven't linked both before because it would 'double-count' my exercise). ANYWAY, when I finally link the FitBit, will it go back and double-count all of my exercise (there is some data stored on the FitBit) ... and how can this be avoided???

I'm thinking about this if I want to go back at some point and run reports, etc.

Right - I've been tracking my walking, steps, miles - daily, weekly and monthly. I really looked forward to pushing hard enough for my weekly award and the weekly e-mails that gave confirmation of my efforts. I know I will adapt to something else but, so far, I'm not "feeling the love" with my replacement options.

Coach Denise, or whoever is moderating this thread now:

With the ending of support for the SpAT, maybe you could consider letting the other trackers earn trophies, and having a weekly summary like the SpAT did? It was one of my favorite things about the tracker - that I got emails that reminded me of how I was doing. So please, Sparkpeople powers-that-be, please consider that or something similar!

I don't even care if they're trophies, but daily and weekly summary reminders are awesome for keeping health in the forefront of my mind.

What can I do for myself today?

Now that I am really trying to get in my steps I have 2 questions: First how do you get your spat to stay on your shoe and second does it track your steps better there than on your waist?

I feel so sad today. When I got back from my run I was getting ready to upload my SPAT and noticed it was not on my shoe. Evidentially it fell off somewhere on my 6.75 mile coarse.. I hope it is found.. I posted lost & found for my neighborhood with picture. I have had mine since the start- when they first came out. I feel lost without it.. I also use Garmin so at least I have my miles etc. but I sure miss the steps and use with Spark People. I have Garmin FR10 which I wish linked up with Spark People, but it does not.. Any suggestions? I know SPAT is not sold anymore.. emoticon emoticon

I like my Fitbit and even though it does give credit for other movement, overall it encourages me to get more steps in each day. I am still using my SPAT too.

I had a Fitbit for a while, but found that it gives credit for exercise when exercise hasn't been done. For example, it gave me credit for a few thousand steps one day when I was petting the dog! I'll take a tracker that attaches to my waist any time over one that is strapped to my wrist!

I just purchased a smart fit bit mini for $24.99 from the site below! It says I saved 80% off the regular price. It also comes with an extra band and it's the buckle type not the snap on kind. It is waterproof so you can use it in the pool too!

Hope this helps.

Since the mfg did whatever they did, mine has not been tracking correctly. I walked for 45 mins the other day, not stopping either and it only gave me 14 mins. I so hope that I can get a different tracker soon!

There are 12 lights on the spark tracker, not 10.

My lights have turned red and the Spark Tracker Activity page shows that my battery is still fine. Anyone else have this happen?

I hope they can get this fixed. My steps are not what the lights say!! I have all 10 lights lit, but only 8025 steps.

Looks like a number of fellow Sparkers are having the same problems with their SPAT that I am experiencing. Another "good" thing bites the dust!

Do I need to buy a new SPAT if it doesn't seem to be tracking correctly since they went down by the MFG?? Please assist!!! I am heart broken. There are 9 lights which means at least 9000 steps, but my tracker only shows 6252 steps..

If you have an android cell phone there is a free app called Google Fit Tracker that connects for free to SparkPeople and records information on the Fitness page. It gives number of minutes, calories both exercise and total, Distance and Steps. All you have to do is keep your cell phone in your pocket and your steps will be recorded. You can also have it track specific exercises, It works with GPS.

I put a new battery in my Spark Activity Tracker and the first couple of days only registered small charge but after a couple days began showing full charge. I also use the App Google Fit Tracker and when I do my walks I get different number of steps. The app is free and I like that I don't have to do anything but keep my phone in my pocket when I am up and it will track my steps and will even track my walks separately without having press start to begin my walks. The information can be synced to SparkPeople.com

I lost my first one and a spark friend mailed me one that she had gotten for taking a survey, now the clip is broken on it but Spark is sending me a new clip. Hoping it holds out for awhile longer. I have a Fitbit Charge and I really like it so I use both!

I can understand the frustration!!

I am sad, I believe my activity tracker is on its way out. It is normally very close/accurate with my running and biking. But recently it has become very inaccurate. Today I went on an 8 mile run and it only track 6.6 miles. I know the 8 miles is accurate b/c I run that area quite often and know where the mile markers are in that route. So bummed b/c I can't get another one!! I wish I would have thought to buy a back-up when they were discontinuing them! So I will have to start looking into something else. It was a such a great tool and I will mourn the loss of it. I know that sounds weird but I really liked this tool, such a great motivator! I rarely left the house without! Probably only a handful of times that I did forget it in the 3 1/2 years I've had it!! Just wanted to share my sadness with others that will understand! Thanks for reading!

I really like the Spark tracker. I had to order a second one from Amazon. It costs more.

This one does not track consistently like it did at first. I just put in a new battery. It's the 2nd time I've done it in a month.

Well I lost my SPAT this afternoon. I usually wear it on my shoe when I am out and about and I looked down and it was gone. So I will be going back to my old trusty pedometer and will probably leave the team and track my steps and fitness manually. I have not been able to find an activity tracker like the Spark Fitness Tracker. It was good while it lasted though.

Sometimes it takes a day or so. If you know your battery is good and the site is showing less than what it should, don't worry about it. As long as it is counting your steps, that's the important thing. Depending on how fast the internet is depends on how fast it will log your steps. I just don't worry about it. I check it before I go to bed and usually all the steps are in there.

I put in a new battery Sunday, and it the tracker on the spark page does not show it but about 1/3 full. This happened on the last new battery also. I am following the directions. There are times when the tracker does not record activities, and I enter them manually.

Does anyone else have the tracker not showing full when it has a new battery. I bought one because it didn't always track.

Memorial Day was a great family day at daughters. Eating and exercise! We celebrated our 44th yesterday and earlier this week got our garden in order. Wish we could have started earlier, but needed to make sure there was no more frost. Planning to go yard saling with DD and DGK today. Have a great weekend!

Barb, sometimes restarting your computer will help. Does the dongle light up green? I have a second (portable) keyboard for my laptop and I understand that interferes with the laptop. So if this is the case for you, just unplug the plug in that makes your cordless keyboard work, the green light will come on for the dongle, you plug the keyboard back in, and everything is OK.

If none of this works, get the tech guys to help you, they are great.

Some good news! I lost my Spark Tracker months ago and found a new one online for half price that I have using. Suddenly! The old tracker just appeared while I was looking for something else. What a wonder! I changed the battery recently in the second one and it is not registering my steps. Coach Jen says to shake it for thirty seconds in front of the dongle and that may jar it into working. We'll see . . .

Have a great day!

Be very careful of your magnesium levels and potassium. I have A-Fib and I have to be careful of the exercise and salt intake. Part of my heart misfires and I have to be careful when I exercise. Make sure you drink your water and don't forget. Exercise will deplete water in your body and you will lose too much Mag & Potass. Be careful and don't overexcercise. It will push your heart too far. I am glad you are going to your doctor and listening to his advice. I know you want the best for yourself and I do too. Much love, Laura.
Note: exercise everyday, but try to do it in increments and not all at once. Pace your workouts so that they do not strain your heart. Walking is the best for your heart (the legs help your heart muscles to strengthen) and arm exercise is for the lungs and deep breathing also helps the heart. Never forget to drink your water as dehydration is to be avoided. Much Love!!!

I got out of the hospital today. Went to hospital yesterday because I kept passing out. My heart is only functioning at 20 % so when I didn't have enough Magnesium my heart started trying to re-regulate itself and caused arrhythmia. I have a defibrillator that went off several time trying to help the heart get back to the appropriate rhythm. This would cause me to pass out and fall. The doctors did a Coronary Angiogram. They did not find any blockages. They have changed the type and amount of Magnesium I have to take. They also subscribed a new medicine called Amiodarone HCL. This is to help keep my heart in a normal rhythm. I am very tired today but tomorrow I will get back to my walks.

sometimes when that happens to me I try re-starting my computer, then put the tracker right up by the dongle -- and tap your tracker 5 times so it light's up. Sometimes that will cause it to sync

LIVINGLOVINGLIFE - When you click on your trackers at the top of your page, and scroll down to "Spark Activity Tracker" it will show you the last time your computer sync'd with the tracker and it will show your total steps. You know what your goal step number is, so you will know if you have made it or not, also check your goal step number to make sure you entered it right, sometimes it's easy to get an extra zero in there by mistake.

I have a question and couldn't find a tread about it. My tracker has been showing I am meeting my goal but SP has been showing me not meeting my goal. This just started after I increased my step goal. So how will I know when I meet my goal?

I had that happen a couple of years ago, and I have certain routes that I walk. One loop I take is 1.1 miles, so I walked that, then did the calibration thing which showed it differently, and made them alike. Since then I've had no problems. Check some route you walk with your car, if your odometer has tenths on it (my Kia doesn't) and you can use that as a reference.

For the past few days I have been using my Spark Activity Tracker and also using an app on my phone that has GPS. My Spark tracker will say 2.1 miles while the GPS says 3.4 miles. I enter the information in the calibration part yet it still shows discrepancy.
Did anyone else have this problem? If so how did you resolve it?

Aren't you the smart one, Cate? The last cruise I took, which was a few years ago before I was quite so "into" the Healthy Lifestyle, I didn't do as well. I limited myself to ONE dessert/day. It is silly, really, because I seldom eat dessert at home. Maybe a small piece of chocolate after my dinner, or a small flan. I could have done a lot better.

Now, about 15 lbs. lighter, I would probably make better choices, ask for fish that was broiled or grilled and a lot more fruits and veggies. Oh well, I don't think I'll be taking a cruise anytime soon so it doesn't matter.

Misplaced my tracker when I was away in February but luckily found it, so when we were preparing to leave for our cruise a week and a half ago I decided to leave it at home where it would be safe. So I put it back on my sneaker this morning and I'm back in business! Haven't weighed in yet, but my clothes are all fitting the same, even my skinny jeans. We did a lot of walking, swimming, and always took the stairs. Stuck with fresh fruits and veggies and generally enjoyed foods in moderation. Glad to be back home after a wonderful and restful trip.

Sorry, I guess I should have emphasized the "...in the house" as "inSIDE the house." I wasn't ON top of the house - that would be a good story!

But I was cleaning and having to crawl on my hands and knees and the tracker kept catching on the carpet etc since it was clipped to my shoe. So I clipped it to my camisole under my shirt - and forgot it!! When I got out of clothes for the night, it went into laundry and I forgot about putting it on camisole. All I knew was later on when I was putting shoes away, I couldn't find the tracker - so I thought it was loose somewhere inside the house. It is black and our carpet is a dark yuckky brown, so it is hard to see.

As it turned out, I didn't do hardly any laundry (I like to wait until I have enough whites or light colors to do a full load in the wash - and my washer's maximum is about 40 pounds. Or 40 gallons of water? I forget. So it took a week or two before we had enough of the light colored underwears and undershirts etc to wash a full load. Just the three of us and if we aren't going anywhere, we tend to wear the same stuff the next day if it didn't get all dirty or stinky the same day we wore it.

So, it turned up as I was sorting clothes and it is back in service! Yay!

She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.

What were you doing on top of the house? This sounds like a good story! If it landed black side up it could be hard to find -- or maybe inside a bush.

My Tracker fell off in the house a few weeks ago - still have not found it.

When you tap it, does it light up the green lights. If not, try opening it taking the battery out, and putting it back in again. Or email TECH, they helped me when I had trouble.

I believe my tracker has died. Battery light online says fully charged, but not one step of my over 8 miles yesterday was recorded. GRRR! Time to get a FitBit?

I had to change the battery in my SPAT and now when I tap it, the green light goes buzzing all around, but never stops, then it just goes dark. What do I do now? I is not syncing, but when I check the icon it shows it is OK.

My heart goes out to you -- I cannot imagine anything harder than sitting through a trial for the murder of your son, other than learning of the event the day it happened. It's like losing 2 years of your own life with all this waiting to see what will happen next, and never knowing what is going on. Good Luck & Prayers to you that this jury will find him guilty.

Hugs, Eve

Today was the 2 yr anniversary of my oldest son's death. And the murder trial for the man how killed him started yesterday. I spent the whole day waiting at the courthouse to be called to testify but didn't get called today so I have to go back tomorrow. This is so difficult because I don't know if the jury is going to find him guilty. This man has had 2 hung jury verdicts so hope the third time the jury will grasp the truth and find him guilty. I don't know how much more I can handle so I need the trial to get over. It is hard to really stick to a good eating plan when you are under so much stress. I also am not sleeping very well. I just hope I don't get sick before this is over. It was rainy today so was not able to get out for a walk and I also have a sore foot so hard to do any walking anyway.

Maybe your battery is dead. The green light has to be lit. Sometimes I have to reboot my computer to get it to reset.

No , the activity tracker will store up to a weeks worth of data and whenever you are back in contact with you computer it will download the information . Do you have a green light or a red light on your USB Port light that came with you tracker ? It has to be green to be working to download your information . Try unplugging it and plug it back in .... hope this helps : )

When I click on the SPAT icon at the bottom of my screen it says FitLinxx connect. So where is my SPAT information. It hasn't updated itself since 9:00 p.m. last night. Does it have to be reloaded or what now?

I did an hour of exercise yesterday and today my right foot hurts really bad. It feels like it is being crushed. I need to find some exercises that will help stretch it out and get rid of the pain.

That is good news. I finely asked to have my gallbladder removed as the pain kept up. I will continue to keep your son in my prayers.

God Bless

Great news on your son! You may want to get a second opinion if the pain continues.
