There is a good chance that I will be doing both the Flying Pig and the JASR in Pittsburgh in 2014, Beth. JASR is a great annual SP event and the Flying Pig is just in my back door so hard to pass that up.

Are we doing the 2014?

Life is happening now, not 10 pounds from now.
200 plus lbs lost without surgery, crazy diets, or extreme exercise- so have hope!

@SHEENADEE I realize this was posted almost a year ahead of the event. However, there are people who are looking at travel, tight budgets, family commitment etc. - I think the important we start looking at where the majority want to go.

I think both events have their advantages and disadvantages. Clearly the crowd support is better with a bigger event, but as Bobby pointed out being out in surburbia of Pittsburg has its positives too.

I also like the idea of heading back to Pittsburgh for 2014. Too soon for me to actually commit; but, I think it's a great idea.

There is an additional reason - all of you know that our fellow Sparker Trish lost her husband the weekend of the Pig. The run in Pittsburgh will benefit the leukemia and lymphoma society - and Don succumbed to lymphoma. This would be a perfect way to keep his memory alive and in support of Trish.

I did not put that in the first post because I did not have Trish's permission. I do now!

hoping the tradition of JASR continues, we can always get hotels in town if people want a different experience but i do like the laid back approach of the hotel out of town.

Alright Sparkers, this year's event is behind us, and from all account it looks like another success. How awesome that 'Sparkguy' stopped by to greet people.

I posted a similar message on the JASR forum. Here is the big question ... do we move the event back to Pittsburgh or ?

I would be in favor of moving it back - for the following reasons
- this was the venue for the past 4 years
- no interference with holidays (Easter or Passover)
- plenty of hotel options.
- in close proximity to the event (ease of transport to the start)
- people can fly into Pittsburgh, or if needed Akron or Cleveland. I am sure we can arrange pick up for those folks.

The back side is it can be very cold - just ask the participants a couple of years back.

Think about it....
