I also recommend Zumba. I love it so much that I take 5 classes a week of Zumba. Plus 2 one-hour and one half-hour Body Pump class, which is weight training.
If you don't belong to a gym, talk to a few gyms in your area and get a one-week pass at each (it should be free!) to try out several exercise classes. The friendliness of the staff, instructor and other participants will be factors in your decision re which club to join, as well as how much you like the class itself.
Or see if there is a class you can try offered by your local recreation department.
Good luck, and have fun!!

I love ZUMBA!! It's 60 mins of dancing to Latin beats. There's Salsa, Meringue, Kumbia etc. It's so much fun that you forget you're exercising! You go at your own pace and you can burn between 500-1000 calories depending on the intensity you choose.
Give it a try, you won't regret it.

My gym does not offer classes. HOWEVER, my former exercise buddy -- who DOES belong to a gym that offers classes -- has recommended kickboxing to complement her running. she is the one that turned me on to elliptical, so I trust her opinion.

I have heard amazing things about spinning classes, especially if your lower body is an issue.

I think a Power Sculpt class would be very complementary to your elliptical workouts :-)

Good luck! If you would like, as you try different classes, report your opinions here on this thread. I'm sure there are others who would appreciate your insights!

I want to join a gym/class and I was wondering if anyone had a favorite and why?
