Suzy,

There's something else that you can try which I have done and it works and it's called padding your body. What that means is that you can wear a weight belt, a weight vest, or ankle weights. It doesn't matter how you do it but it works. When I got down to my stubborn weight to lose, I wore a two-pound weight belt at first and then switched to wearing a weight vest with the pockets in the vest and added two-pound weights each week. What you're doing is making your body think that it weighs more than it does and it burns your calories more effectively at the higher weight to help you lose weight. It has worked many times for me.

Blessings!

Nancy Jean,
Thanks for your help and input. I think I will try changing up my exercise routine - I will need to anyway as my husband and I usually walk in the evening and the shorter days will impact our routine. Also you are right that my medication causes weight gain and I am fighting with that problem. I will keep drinking my water but I appreciate the reminder. It isn't always easy to remember to keep drinking.

I will also look up the Plateau Challenge -- I have nothing to lose except maybe those extra pounds! :)

Thanks for the inspiration!
Suzy

Suzy,

The Plateau Challenge worked wonders for me more than one time and another thing that worked wonders is changing up my workout routine. Your body has a wonderful memory and if you exercise the same way each day your body remembers and you will not burn your calories effectively. Keep your body guessing. Also, how much sleep are you getting that can play havoc with your weight too. What about your medications? If you're under any stress at all there is another thing that can bring on added weight.

Our bodies are complex machines and they are wonderfully made by God and I don't know enough about my body but God does and we work this journey together!!!!

Oh, by the way, DRINK your water it will flush all the junk out of your system too!!!

Blessings!

Gosh, I need some help. I have been fighting over the same two pounds for about two months. I lose two and then gain it back and I cannot seem to go any lower. I need to lose about 20 more pounds. I am going to check out the plateau challenge but I am in need of any help.

My doctor has now told me that I can no longer do my walking because of my back and hip. The only things I'm allowed to do are the limited mobility exercises that the physical therapist provided. This completely messes me up. We all know a diet/nutrition plan only works with exercise. This may well be a long plateau, and that's frustrating as heck.

I hope things are better now for you, my friend. I am dealing with the same ordeal, but I am not sure it is the sweetener. I think it is the heat. Stay hydrated.

I've just experienced something that has never happened before. It seems in my old age I've become sensitive to artificial sweetener. The stuff is keeping me hungry all the time. I use all the tools at my disposal but I'm always hungry. It's like Chinese food. I'm hungry an hour or two later. I've never been hungry like this. The thing is, the weight I've lost is starting to come back on. So far, 6 pounds! I gotta go the other way.

Good luck with busting the plateau!

I'm 4'10.5". A normal BMI for my height tops out at 121.

Sassy,

Don't get discouraged! You had all of those wonderful NSV and that itself shows improvement. Perhaps you've just hit a plateau. Now SP Land does have a challenge for Busting that Plateau. It worked for me several times when I was working that challenge.

Also, look at what you're doing each day. Is it the same thing, in the same order? If it is, your body has a great memory and if your doing the same thing in the same order your body will not burn the calories effectively because it knows your move. Shake up your routine and see if that helps.

Then you can do what I did when I first hit my goal weight. The last 15 lbs. were so stubborn and no matter what I did the pounds didn't budge. So I loaded my body. Now that means you put weights on you. I started with a 2 lb. weight belt, and worked up to a weight vest. You fool your body into thinking it weighs more than it does, so your body works harder and the weight will come off.

I hope all of this will help you drop the pounds that you're seeking to lose.

Blessings!

Can you try adjusting your diet to the low end of the recommended range? Mine is a 250 calorie window, which is a half-pound difference over the week if I were to do the maximum versus the minimum every day.

I get some walking in 7 days a week. I am close to my goal so the weight is slowing down to a crawl. I do prefer a slow weight loss though. Keep at it and you will see results. :-)

I joined water aerobics and am going 3 times a week, my tops are feeling slightly looser (yeah) but the weight isn't moving ??? My cholesterol levels have improved, which my Md. is very pleased with and me too of course. The doc suggested 5 days a week of exercise so I plan on signing up for my M-W-F water class and adding T-TH Tai Chi. Will that help the weight to move? I don't know. As far as the diet I think I'm following the program pretty closely. I'm just getting discouraged. I won't quit though. emoticon
