Dealing with a 2 pound gain. I am tired of losing and gaining the same 2 to 5 pounds. Time to revamp some things and take a closer look at what I am doing.

What an adorable little dog! Cute as a bug ... I have 5 Toy Fox Terriers, and they keep me hopping! I'm on a roll, after pigging out at Thanksgiving dinner ... eating better and staying within my guidelines. I won't beat myself up over a slip, but get "back on the horse" and eat wiser and better! Still going to the gym 3 days a week - and the old body is getting used to the routine! I need some new moves!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Now what use to be an "in & out" with my dog - I've changed it to a 10 minute SPARK emoticon . My dog is so confused and I'm sure my neighbors think I've went off the deep end - seeing me twirling around with her leash just to keep walking when she stops to do her business - emoticon

Woohoo! Moving on to step 2 today of the Spark Coach Program. I walked 4.3 miles in 61 minutes this a.m. Calculated that I will need to burn around 350 exercise calories over the last 6 days of November to reach my NovemBURN Challenge. It has been a blessed month! Glad to feel well and happy with family this Thanksgiving season. We all do better and feel happier in our lives when we are loved and encouraged. I hope you are blessed with those special relationships this holiday season. emoticon

Just checking in today. Spent the morning making Gluten-free bread, fresh chicken salad and Organic Cacoa Oatmeal Cookies also Gluten-free. Packed baked goods in portion controlled zip lock baggies for freezing and quick use. Impressed my husband with my culinary skills. Off for my 6,000+ steps this evening. I have needed to improve my protein intake as I woke up with low blood sugar episode early at 4:00 a.m. I successfully started that goal to increase my lean protein daily from 70-100 grams/day. I really feel the difference in my energy levels when I exercise in the a.m. before starting all my other goals for the day. I will go back to a.m. exercise tomorrow. I had a Good Day! emoticon

Hi, MirandaDenise, That sounds a bit worrisome that you are feeling so tired. Have you been to your doctor for a routine check up and bloodwork lately? It is always a really good thing to have your iron and thyroid levels checked on a regular basis and let your MD know you are working toward weight loss goals. Just a thought...How's the sleep? 8 hours/day? Take care, hope you feel more energy soon! emoticon

I am back from a long hiatus away from Spark People. It's good to be back. I so need the motivation I find here. I learned about Spark Streaks today and have set some simple goals for myself. I want to exercise minimum of 10 minutes every day, walk minimum 500 steps everyday, and drink 8 glasses of water every day.

Last week, I followed Spark Coach Exercise Plan to do cardio for 4 days and 2 days of strength training in a week. New Goal: do workouts and cardio in the A.M. at least 3 or 6 workouts per week. I find it improves my energy level all morning. I get the same daily activities done in 25% less time! When my energy level is higher after exercise, my BMR is higher and burning more calories. My mood is also improved and energy level is more sustained throughout the day. I am reaching less often for food to give me that boost of energy. (Low energy is a constant problem for those of us with low thyroid.)
emoticon Thanks, SparkPeople! :)

My issue is portion control. I hate to weigh and measure everything I eat. It makes me mad and rebellious. With that being said I can see that my way of doing things does not work. So today I will be gathering all of my measuring devices into one drawer so that it will be convenient for me to locate them and not use that as an excuse not to measure my portions! emoticon

Having a lot of trouble being patient. I want things to change and I want to see that change with every positive step I make. I am learning that the stress hormone is no joke and puts a blanket on everything. I am dealing with root causes instead of trying to eat through the stress. The coach keeps me on track an motivated.

Making good progress and feeling well this past month. I consider that a break through for me since I work hard to maintain my low thyroid in a healthy balance. Weigh-in this a.m. showed a total of 3.6 pounds lost in 3 weeks. That is 33% of the way toward reaching my long term goal. Losing the last 10 pounds above ideal body weight and reaching the recommended BMI is the hardest to achieve and maintain. I can affirm that to be true! I have found that the analysis of weekly reports and calorie intake vs. BMR/exercise differential reports are especially helpful to identify trends in eating and exercise. Meeting my new goal to eat 1/2 or LESS of the calories I burned off with exercise plus my BMR. It works! Thank you, Spark People! It works! emoticon

Things are good today. I am making small changes. I am asking myself what I can do in this 24 hour period that is good for me. Taking it one day at a time. Today I put on pants that I was not able to wear previously. I am thankful for that, but I know that I want to keep on going...don't want to get distracted or sidelined by a momentary success. I want more. I am going to keep on pushing. Today is a good day. emoticon I don't have to be perfect...I just have to show up.

In general I am doing well but I still struggle like everyone else. A couple of things that keep cropping up are exercising at the right intensity for cardio benefits and finding the right protein.
My cardio issue is that I find I can't exercise in the higher intensity range for longer periods of time on a regular basis. Not if I want to stay active for the rest of the week. Too tired and sore. So I have to take a more moderate course but I feel I am missing out on the cardio benefits by doing this.
Secondly I am a vegetarian and I have found over the past year that the filling high protein dairy & soy options that I use to stay full give are giving me digestive issues. I am wondering if there are other alternatives to the ones that I use? Vegan maybe?

CMIDD917 - I am having the same issues. I track my stuff, but still eat the things that take me out of my range. Or I just don't track. Depends on the day.

You are doing the right things by still tracking some of the time. It so much easier to say, "Oh, I give up!"

I just want to send you my support....believe me I know what it is like to be eating in a frenzy.....it is behavior that I especially indulge in the day before I start a diet....which is usually almost every week.

I want to tell you to do something that I don't seem to be able to grasp, although, I know how important it is. Forgive yourself and re-commit. As long as you don't throw the towel in ,you can continue to move forward.

Forgive yourself.....forgive yourself.......best wishes,

Fell off the grid....but I am back and re-committed. Had a cardiac procedure yesterday and I know what I have to do to regain my health. I am starting a vegetarian diet today and I am feeling really good about that. I will begin a daily exercise program on Monday Nov 18, 2013.

Okay, so time for some accountability. I have been on an eating frenzy for 2 days. Doughnuts. 7 in two days. I didn't want to acknowledge what I had done so I skipped tracking. I sat down today and said - this has got to stop. Went into SP and tracked the last 2 days. It is hard seeing it in writing, harder still seeing the calorie count. Believe it or not, I have 180 calories left to eat today. I think I'll have a yogurt and some fruit. At least I can salvage today.
Thanks SP for keeping me accountable. Now to work on the self-talk - No shaming allowed. emoticon

This is only my second week and I still feel positive. I've been making small changes and eating more intentionally. I did completely cut out the mindless snacking in the evening. I replaced it with sipping herbal tea so I have something at hand. I've lost 2 lbs and don't feel deprived or overwhelmed with the tracking.

I have been with SC since started, I have learn consistency, tracking my water, meals, fitness minutes and to stay focus on the proper nutrients I'm putting in my body.
I have been able to stay motivated to follow through my exercise program.

Hard to believe I've been WORKING on losing weight for almost a year - down 35 pounds, and counting! Spark Coach has been a big motivator, and I TRACK every day - that is EVERY DAY! Sometimes it's a bother, but I keep it up ... and it (and I) are WORKING! Folks, you can do this - make a commitment to track every day - and you will find you are paying closer attention to what you are putting in your mouth. Is it worth it? Do you care enough about yourself to hold off and think about what you are eating?
Well, I do - and will keep on keeping on - this is a change of life not a diet - and at 78 I don't have a lot of time to make the change! Upward and Onward!
