well I decided with the corona virus to go ahead and retire early ! SO i'm now home all day
and have been cooking non stop and taking food to the sick. I have reached my all time high weight that I was in 2012. ITs evidently not bothering me enough or Id do something about it.
I picked up some peaches from THE PEACH TRUCK out of Georgia and Ive been eating a lot of delicious fresh peaches.
At least we are now having Church services but weve lost a lot of members who just prefer to stay home with no mask and watch on the livestream instead. It s so different and I could be eating so much better than I am !!

hang in there and keep in touch

We are doing well. My job ended the day we closed for the virus, two weeks before it was supposed to end due to being downsized during a consolidation of two stores. DH and DD1 are still working- DHs company makes disposable plates, cups, silverware, takeout containers, etc. so he is mission essential. DD1 works for a huge chain grocery/everything store so they were allowed to stay open. I am training to work at home as a proofreader. The germ of the idea came 2 jobs ago during all the orientation stuff they had us do online- riddled with errors in spelling and grammar.

I am having issues with being home alone all day with just the dogs for company. I have gained about 7 pounds in 7 weeks. But the house is looking a bit better and I discovered that my elliptical trainer isnt broken like we thought, the top outlet stopped working so I have to plug it into the bottom one, which means unplug it when I want to charge my laptop. I can live with that. So now I have workout breaks scheduled each day as well as housework breaks. It is so much easier for me to hop on and listen to music or read a book than try to force myself to do individual exercises from a list. I will still have to do arm workouts, but that can be done on the elliptical as well.

I am glad to hear from you and please keep in touch........ I hope your DR visit went well....

The girls moved back in with their mom one week before xmas. My mom is sleeping and sleeping and cleaning out closets and trying to let go. It is what it is but I think the mental stress has been bad on both of us. Its so much better now and I can feel myself actually thinking of doing something for my health now.....My neck is killing me therefore Iam about to come to the conclussion that I may have to retire soon. I just turned 59 in Dec but I feel myphysical strength is leaving me. Now after I work ( part time) .... my back and neck ache for days.
My husband would love to retire also but its the health insurance........ we cant' wait til hes 65 for medicaid to kick in ..... who can go without healtth insurance ??

I hope now that so much stress has been lifted off of us that I can staart to plan some sort of diet / exercise program and get into gear this spring !!

My girls are doing well. The youngest officially moved out about 6 months ago. But still hasn't changed her address on anything except with her new employer. Sam has taken it kinda hard. She is his baby girl and he can't protect her if she is not around. She has a plan and should have her car and student loans paid off in less than 2 years.
Our oldest still lives here with us. She talks about buying a house and moving out, but it is all dreams because she owes too much money to even get approved for an apartment, let alone a mortgage. She has her dad's head for money and spending habits.
I also gained a bunch(10-15#) of what I lost previously. I am working hard to get back to the 180s before my next Dr visit next month. Even though I gained my numbers were still good at my last visit so he didn't complain, but I can't count on that this time. So extra veggies and fruit and watch the sodium for me.
Have a good week.
Today I even went for about a mile walk.

Good to hear from you ANNA

Yes my husband has always had those crazy hours where you close and then turn around and open..... it s rough. He has trouble sleeping as it is anyway. His mind doesn't want to shut off.
I feel for you ...... I could not go up and down all those ladders anymore. My knee is better after my surgery but I still could not do all that.
Ive regained all my weight and now am back up to my all time highest weight ...YUCK !!

Yes the girls are growing and yes my mom is exhausted. Their mom has returned to her second husband and is trying to get custody of them now. I hope it works out ... my mom is going
downhill fast. We can still get them for weekends and Church if that happens so thats the most important thing. Their Dad (my nephew) is trying to straighten himself out also.

I cant seem to get much motivation or good habits either ... I am struggling so bad........

I hope your reflux is better and your girls are doing ok too !!

keep on keepin on

Sorry I have been MIA. Sooooo busy at work. We had a change of managers and this one doesn't understand that a pastor's wife needs at least half of the Sundays off, and can't work Sunday morning ever. One week I have 24 hours or less, and the next 37. My body doesn't know what to expect. I am in charge of presentation which means all the window signs, the mannequins, the signs on every rack/ table, the signs dangling from the ceiling etc........
I close one night and open the next morning at least once a week. Some days my legs/hips hurt so bad I want to quit. When signs need changed I end up climbing an eight foot ladder at least twice for each sign that needs changed, which can be anywhere from 3 signs to 12 or more plus moving the ladder from spot to spot. I know it is good exercise and I don't have an issue with heights, but can't one of the younger girls do it half the time? Two weeks ago we had changes 4 nights in a row.
Enough moaning.
How are you doing?
How are the girls? I bet they are getting big.
Well I closed tonight and open in the morning so I need to get some sleep.
Have a great weekend.

My biggest struggle right now is figuring out what to eat that won't upset my stomach. My acid reflux has been acting up for the last 4 days or so and my stomach burns in the morning for hours no matter what medicine I take.
Hardly ate anything yesterday.

I'm good, for the most part. Minor aches and pains. Working 28 to 33 hours a week now. No time for planning meals, and no money for shakes. Besides they discontinued the new one that I had discovered that was only 3 ingredients.
I can't use sucralose and most shakes use it as one of their sweeteners.
Gained a bunch back, now I am struggling to get back on track.
Hope you had a good trip.

I read an article in Woman's World this week on a diet to DETOX your liver. It was two shakes a day with a meal of whole foods not processed every night. It sounded similiar to the simple diet and I may give it a shot . It will be harder doing all that cooking and no premixed shakes but it will maybe get me jump started. I am planning a trip to Fl on the 18th to visit my Niece and her family so I may have to wait til we get back ...... its a 28 day cleanse.

hope you are feeling alright ?? i sure am struggling with my diet as of late.

Most of the pain in my hip is finally gone. Just the loss of flexibility that comes with multiple falls and babying my joints too much for too long. It will get better as soon as I get back in the pool and do a bunch of the stretching moves in my book. It really stinks getting old.

Oh wow so sorry to hear of your new pain. .... that stinks. I am glad your new job is not so
repeatisous ?? I msp that I;m sure. take care of yourself. My husband is having terrible
neck pain also and he found out he has a degenerative disk in his neck. we both look down at work all day so we're in the same boat. I bought a neck heating pad and I think it helps.

I am attempting to do the simple diet again. its been a long time since I was 100 % so it will take me afew weeks to get in the groove I'm sure. we only have one more bday this month YEAH !!

I made Dr srtorks soup and have been eating it a lot and I like it . its healthy and filling .

have a good week .... I too have done NO EXERCISE and will start when I get the diet down so probably a few weeks.

For the most part I am doing fine. My hands alternate between pain and good. I think most of it is arthritis.
I really like my job and it isn't doing exactly the same thing every day so it should help my hands. The only time recently I had trouble with my hands at work was doing inventory, counting jeans. Counting everything else was no problem. Jeans are folded into stacks of about ten pairs and we had to find the bar code on each pair without causing the stack to fall apart in the process. I had to break the stacks up because when you get 3-5 pair in one hand they get a bit heavy if they are the older kids sizes.
I went for a bone density scan on Wednesday and when I got home I started having a new(haven't had it in over a year and never this bad) pain. Don't know if it was from bending over to pick up someone's dropped cane or driving my daughter's manual transmission car. I drive it occasionally, but got stopped at about a dozen red lights on the way home.
Today I was limping like crazy so much that a coworker asked did I hurt my ankle. Nope the ankle is just fine.
I got a book awhile back and am planning to start its 40 day exercise plan. It's all stretching similar to yoga but you say a Bible verse with each stretch. I just need to start really slowly and I think I will pick and choose the order for now, until my hip/leg gets a bit better.

HELLO ANNA ,
I too know how you feel...... i am doing better with my knee and now my back and neck are getting worse..... if its not one thing its another. I know so many people suffering with cancer that I feel terrible for complaining ... things COULD always be worse.

I had my bday after xmas and now I am trying to get myself back into the grind of writing things
down and watching what I eat. I still have some sweets in the house to get out of here but I am almost there !!

How is your carpal tunnel ?? I have one hand going numb sometimes and I think its from my neck ..... but not sure

I too, am struggling. I haven't tracked consistently in almost a year. I was doing great up until I broke my streak of logging in. I was over 400 days and I forgot one day and then it's too hard to track. About a month ago I lost my Fitbit. The band started releasing from the body of it with just a bump and now I can't track my steps, sleep, activity. NOTHING.
I guess I'll have to start using the elliptical again and using it for most of my steps and cardio. Maybe it will help my hands and elbows too.
I feel like I am falling apart. I go to the doctor about one thing and the next thing I know I have two new things being treated and a new medication, and even more symptoms. I'm about ready to stop all prescription meds and see if that helps. I had minimal symptoms before I started taking any prescriptions, now I'm wondering if I will be able to make it to retirement age before I have to stop working. My hands have gone from normal to hurting almost every day and not being able to open most jars in less than 2 months.

I'm still around. Been busy lately getting ready for DH's surgery and taking care of him/ making sure he follows his restrictions. He is doing great and has to be reminded not to over do it. Today he was up and doing things a lot more than usual and is really tired now that it's bed time.
I kept using the protein powder and decided if I add PB2 to the shake the grainyness isn't so bad because PB2 is somewhat grainy too.
DH has talked about taking a vacation while he is off for his recovery but if the therapist is right he will be going back to work before he had originally planned and may not have time for all of us to coordinate time off.

hey anna

I am doing so good with my new knee even better than I ever expected !! I wish I had done it YEARS ago. !! Now I am having back issues unfortunately and Have had unexpected family visits from out of town.... several funerals and deaths and we leave for vacation this friday. My husband is so burnt out at work and gettting to where he wants a vacation every 8 to 12 weeks to keep from quittting !!
I have gained weight with the lack of movement and hope to get back on track for good when we get back from vacay.
I have struggled with all protein powders except one..... I like it but its so expensive and that is the one they sell to gastric bypass patients called UNJURY .... it tastes really good.
I havent' been using one as of late.

sorry I have been so absent but life is getting cray cray sometimes !

I tried a new protein powder today. EAS vegan soy protein - don't care for the texture. It is awfully grainy even after sitting for a few hours it still didn't seem to disolve or get smoother. I thought it would be better because the ingredients list is super short and totally readable, plus made in the US. How can you go wrong with that?
Maybe I can add it to my baking?

Christine, how are you doing? Therapy coming along?
How are the girls?

Time for pool therapy. Talk to you later.

Work is rough, but should soon get better. I will be changing my availability to 3 or 4 hours a day so I can start working at a new store in the same town that DH works. My former boss is the manager and I talked with her today and we started the paperwork for me to start work next week. I'll be working 2 jobs for awhile but since both will be part time I think I will be able to handle it. My knees are doing much better. My biggest problem now is the medicine the doctor put me on for my cholesterol causes me to bruise much more easily than my normal bump into the corner of a table today and wonder tomorrow where the bruise came from. Now it is pick up a box and 5 minutes later think did the edge of that box really bruise me?
He told me to take vitamin c to help minimize the bruising but I'm not seeing much difference.

Hope your therapy goes well.

Hello Anna

I'm sorry but I have been totsally out of commission. I had knee replacement surgery
on my right knee on Feb 26th. I am doing physical thereapy at home and slowly
getting better. The exercises are pretty tough and I'm going to do all I can to get better
because I am sick of not being able to do things. I hope to be able to drive by the end of
the month (march).

I had eaten all kinds 0f things and chocolate was my best friend for awhile. I have really gained and being immobile has really helped pack the pounds on.

I hope you are doing well ..... is your job situation ever gotten sorted out ??

Sorry to hear about your cat.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
This is a good time to purge the junk and focus on a fresh start.
I'm working on getting my knees in better shape. I've woken up to pain several days in a row. All the stairs and walking I've been doing over the last couple of days hasn't helped a bit. I cut my step goal in half a couple of weeks ago and the only days I've managed to keep my steps that low are the days I stay in bed. I really need to slow down for a week or to so therapy can help.

Thanks for thinking of me and I do hope to get some things done somehow.
I had a great xmas and then I had my bday and my little female pet cat became sick and died. It was very sad.... we really cant remember for sure if she was 13 or 15 yrs old. I them came down with the flu and have been sick in the bed . WHEW !! when it rains it pours.
I am still struggling with a head cold and weve had some really low temperatures here.

I hope your dd1 and dd2 have sorted through their troubles..... nothing is worse than family problems....... My older brother and me are NOT close and at xmas he was acutally cordial and seemed in a good mood. It made for happier holidays.

I have NOT focused on my diet what so ever and hope to get junk out of house this week and start back.
thanks for hanging in there with me

Christine

DD2 is home for good. She went to the local community college and registered for classes. Having another set of hands around to help with housework will be a big help.

Thanksgiving was different. DD2 didn't let us know when she would be coming home and got home around 3:30 Thanksgiving day. I have a cold and had worked every day before and didn't feel like cooking, so we went to Denny's for dinner. Only Sam had turkey. Saturday wasn't so great though. DD2 had to leave early (noonish) to get back in time for work and made plans to go shopping with DD1 and daddy before leaving and didn't set her alarm for 8am. They tried to wake her up twice and decided to go shopping without her but be back when she was ready to leave. She was hurt that they went without her and left before they got back. They missed her by maybe 15 minutes. I feel guilty about it because I could have called them to let them know she was up, she woke up about 15 minutes before I left for work (she could have as well) now everyone is upset at each other- rare occurrence at our house.

Have you tried chair exercises? Dawn does them a lot. I've started PT exercises and not one of them is standing, yet. There are a lot of things you can do that don't require walking around that could help. Get a stool for the kitchen so you don't have to stand to cook or do dishes. I usually sit to fold laundry. Think creative.
Praying.

That's wonderful Anna !! I am so thrilled for you !!

I am busy trying to get ready for thanksgiving and then we had another funeral. My favorite Aunt died. She was a Joy to be around and the last of my dad's siblings. It was very sad for me.

I have also found out I will need knee replacement surgery. I have slowed down so much it takes me twice as long to clean house and do things ..... shopping for groceries wears me out for two days . I am gaining due to lack of moving and I know I will have to do something soon but can't decide when to have the surgery. Its a matter of fitting it in to my holiday schedule and so on......
Now my back is also hurting due to me walking differently. it feels like I am falling apart.

Hope you have great thanksgiving
Keep on keeping on

How are things going with you?
How are the girls? Getting big no doubt.

The results are back from the blood test...... My cholesterol is lower than its been in over 20 years. Military days low. Still above what they want but just above 200. All other lipid markers are well within range. Dr appt next Wednesday. Will still probably need to take the meds for another 3-6 months but planning/hoping to lose another 10# or more before the next test. I've lost about 6# this last 3 months hoping that next Wednesday I weigh in below 190 again so I can claim weight loss & exercise to be responsible for a good portion of the numbers changes. I don't like the side effects of the medicine and want off ASAP. I bruise easily even without the medicine, now I have to be extra careful, I still have shadowing from my last set of bruises 3 weeks ago.

I am working harder at the diet aspect and work is helping with the exercise portion. Moving around 40# boxes is a great whole body workout.
My doctor put me on a medication that I want off of ASAP and that is a lot of my motivation to make significant progress ASAP. I've lost about 4-5# since I saw him 8 weeks ago. Only 3 and a half more weeks until my next blood test and 5 weeks until my next appointment and I want my numbers to be a lot better. I just hope my knees hold up until then, the job is killing them.

Half days is better than not working the plan at all.
You can do this.

My husband keeps talking about when he was a kid how they went to most of those places while they were traveling back and forth from Michigan to California and back. I've never been out west except San Antonio for basic training. He keeps saying our next trip will be to California to visit the redwoods.
Hope you had a great time.

Thanks ANNA -- we actually only got about 1/2 inch of rain here in KY but we needed so much more. I am struggling with my diet and we leave for vacation tomorrow morning .
we are headed out west where we've NEVER been. I hope my knee and back can take it but I am excited to see some new country. we are going to Arizona to Grand canyon, to Utah to Bryce canyon and Yellowstone park and North Dakota to Mt Rushmore and then to Wyoming. We are going to be gone for 12 days so I know my diet is gonna be gone !!

I will be exhausted but thrilled to see it all also

Hope your job is doing alright

We have had dealings with one lady who lives about 25-30 minutes from our church whose "job" is calling all the local churches asking for help(told to me by St.Vincent coordinator at the local Catholic church) the calls to us included- my mom is in the hospital dying and I need gas money, I need diapers and I don't get cash assistance, my daughter is starting first grade and needs a backpack and school supplies, etc...... My favorite "my cousin had a house fire maybe you saw it on the news they lost everything." I checked the news online for the last 6 weeks no fire in the town she mentioned. She hasn't called here since.
We help people all the time few questions asked, but when you abuse the charitable systems you get known for it.

I'm glad the girls are permanently where they will be loved and cared for.

Time for work again. Short day today only 5 hours.
Good luck with DH and eating out. I have the same problem here. His rationalization is eating out means no dishes.

I do not think I could do fast food work anymore..... all that standing would kill my feet and knees !! Its soooooooooo much harder than people think...... Bless your heart. Plus being around all the fried food too would be difficult.

I am so struggling to get myself back on track ..... all my DH wants to do is eat out and that tends to sabotauge (msp) my diet always..... he rotates between Mexican and japenese and NEITHER help. I went to my dr and had all my yearly checkups.... mammogram and pap smear.... blood work... ...everything is fine except my thyroid medicine is going to go up a tad. I hope that helps.... I am sleeping 10 hours a day with no ENERGY and am tired of being tired !! So hopefully that will help.
The girls are growing and my mother got PERMANENT custody so now that they have occasional weekend visits with their mom....... she says she doesn't have enough food to feed to them so she's unable to get them often. IT WOULD BE UNTHINKABLE FOR her to get a job. She has NEVER worked over a month and is currently not working . IT is such a sad fact on our society that we have raised soooooooooo many totally helpless people. So she went and begged a church for help...... that's her answer........

My leg bruise is still an egg on my chin and dr said its a hematoma and will be there for MONTHS...... at least it does not hurt anymore.

I hope to get going this week .......

you are doing great !! that s awesome anna !

How are things going on your neck of the woods? Are you done with VBS? How are the girls doing?

I'm doing better at work, did an 8 hour shift yesterday without too much trouble. Have a 6 hour shift tonight and then tomorrow a youth group activity going to a historical village(replication) and then to a park to eat before coming home. We still haven't decided what we are taking for dinner though.

I am preaching Sunday and am not even close to ready. Oh well, I had better get off here so I can do some more prep for Sunday.
Have a great weekend.

Boy does my face hurt. I haven't worked since 8 pm Saturday and it still burns. I think I might be allergic to something at work, or maybe it's just standing over the french fry vats for 4-6 hours most days. They have had me on fries and nuggets most days because I can keep up easily there. They say that I can do it better than a lot of the ones that have been there longer.
The computer system they use for orders doesn't like me most days and I have to try 4 or 5 times just to clock in and out because my hands are too dry so it can't recognize my fingerprint. Its not very user friendly/intuitive and I spend too much time searching for things and can't figure out why when I tell it the customer wants something I have to input it about 5 or 6 times before it records it properly. I've used computers since my junior year in college (when I learned how to program them) and never seen one this ornery.
To tell it you want to sub an ice cream for the soft drink is easy, but to get it to change the default size -small to medium or large takes a minimum of 3 more touches on the screen and you had better watch the list to make sure it took or you could have an unhappy customer or a manager trainee thinking you are trying to give away food.
I don't think I will be doing manager training any time soon.
Its been quite warm around here and I haven't gotten much walking done. But I hope to get my elliptical cleaned off again soon so I can work out in my air conditioned living room again.

I got in a short walk yesterday. I was at the library and I decided to at least attempt walking the track. It was at least 80 degrees out and the track is black so I only managed 2 laps, but I always use the outside lane, every bit helps.

How are things going down where you are?
It's been a bit cooler up here in the 60s and low 70s. That makes for a more comfortable day to move around and better sleeping. I can't stand it when it gets over 80 and we've already had highs in that range- way too early in the season of you ask me.
I'm losing again! I'm not quite back to my recent lowest, but I am below 200 again, and showing at least a slight loss each day for the last 4 days.

I can't wait to get my uniforms so I can really start working and burn a lot more calories.

Have a great week.

Found job. Fast food for now. We'll see how long that lasts, how well it pays and how long it takes for promotion will probably be a big factor. I know the hours are there- they have trouble keeping people, but that is the way with fast food...

The lack of movement since the store closed a week ago is making it harder to keep my weight moving in the right direction. Must find a new job, where I can't sit on my backside too much. Standing still for too long at a time isn't good either.

Great that you were able to walk outside. Work is crazy at times. Today was so slow I left early. A few customers are a bit demanding others are sympathetic. We haven't been given a final day yet but we expect no more than 3 weeks left. I haven't found a new job yet but I will. I know where I can probably get one, but not sure I want to work there. We'll see when the store closes.

yippee I FINALLY got to walk outside for 3 days this week!! That's a biggie for me !
Maybe I can keep that up !! Unfortunately our gospel meeting is this week with a potluck meal each night and I have cooked and been around MUCH TO MUCH tempting food. I finally gave the last half of my cake away to get it OUT of the house. ERRRRRRRRR...... I finally do exercise and then my eating goes awry !! Maybe next week I can get both of them back together !

Anna - hope your job situation has settled down and things are going smoother for you !!
You can do this girl !!

I lost another pound this week. Fast approaching my most recent low. I will try to get past it in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Then onward and downward.

Christine, hope things are going better for you.

Christine, so sorry for your loss.
I'm close to my lowest. I did regain about 6-7# over the break between challenges and with the news about my job. I've gotten the beast under control again and have lost back down to my 2 or is it 3 year plateau weight again. I will not give up and am determined to lose at least 10 # before the end of May.

Praying for you.

hello ladies

well for the third week in a row someone close to me has died. This week it was my great Uncle. He was very old and in poor health. I hope 3 is enough for now. !

I am working on getting back into it ... doing well with my eating now if I could get my back and knee in good health and start doing some walking and or exercising .I watched an infomercial about something called Piyo which is Pilates and Yoga combined for a low impact workout. It looked VERY interesting but I'm sure using your body weight would still work you out. I have got to start walking first and then I might order that later !

ANNA - I am thinking of you.... that job situation is so hard and very stressful. I hope things turn around for you soon. The very fact you are NOT gaining is awesome !! You are still at your lowest ... correct ??? That is so wonderful ... NEVER give up .... you'll make it.

As far as cravings go .... I find if you increase your protein that DEFINITELY helps..... make sure you are getting 60 to 90 g of protein a day ..... add a protein shake or bar !!

Keep on keeping on
Christine

I'm no expert, but usually that say you are lacking something in your diet. Maybe a multivitamin supplement might help? I've been going through that myself but I know mine is stress related. I found out about 3 weeks ago the store where I work is closing. We were given no more than 3 months notice that we need to find a new job. DH is pushing hard for me to get a job where he works, but they aren't responding to my ap/resume yet.
We have parent plus loans coming due soon for our oldest and that will put a serious crimp in our finances.
