Do I do the video or do I have to do a certain amount of reps and sets of each exercise? I have been doing each video, but I find them short and am wondering if they will really help my muscles. I hope so, cause I am enjoying it this way, hee hee.

DEECANDOTHIS - great job getting in a workout today. When you do add the video you get fitness minutes credit. When it shows up under the strength training section of your fitness tracker, you won't see fitness minutes there. The minutes should show up as an increase in your weekly/monthly totals that you see in the box on the right side of the page that says My SparkAmerica Fitness Minutes. There is no need to add them through the quick track.

Enjoy the challenge! emoticon

Ok so my question is/was "Do I get fitness minutes credit when I track a daily video? Because it does not show up on my daily total?"

I went through some of the previous questions and found that when an activity is tracked under strength, 5 minutes is added to my fitness minutes. Is that correct?

And if I add the video through the link at the bottom of that videos page fitness minutes will be added. Is that also correct?

And if I used quick track to log minutes (because I didn't see them add up) would that then be duplicating fitness minutes?

My tracker should be public, please feel free to take a look.

Today I did the day 3 video twice and walked 1 mile in 18 minutes.

Thank you!

C21247, You have your fitness tracker set to private so I can't see whether or not you are tracking properly. If you made it public I could take a look for you.

I just started today and am excited to join this team. I would just like someone to check to make sure I am tracking my information properly for today to be considered for the trophy and the iPad. Would you let me know?

Just trying to get back into the swing of things.

TURBOADDICT444, That's fine if you want to substitute your P90X workouts for the videos. I have done P90X before and when I tracked it I manually entered each of the strength training exercises on the weight days, but left the sets and reps blank. This kept track of what I was doing and gave me credit for my exercise. Another way that you could track it is by using the Quick Track option. For example, you could type in "Chest & Back" and how many minutes you did it for and you will get fitness minutes credit. Either way would work. Hope that helps!

I have a question I hope someone can help me with. I started this challenge and P90X2 this week and my question is about strength training. For cardio, I plan on running because I am also part of a "500 miles in 2012" challenge. My question is how do I track the strength training because it is not a set number of reps in each workout. Each one is about one hour but I don't know how to track them by time. Any answer would be truly appreciated. Also, can I substitute these for the 10 minutes of toning a day? Thank you so much! And good luck to everyone!

Thanks Michcleary for clearing that up for me. I will do my best to complete each task. Right now, I'm doing the video in the morning and will try and do the rest after I get off of work. Thank you for your encouragement as well as pointers on how to get the workout minutes done. If you are a christian I ask that you please keep me in your prayers.

I was able to log video day 1 into my fitness tracker. However, video day 2 does not come up in the cardio search. What am I missing?

I am also tracking on the Team forum when I completed the video, but I want to track in my fitness tracker too.

Thanks and LOVE THE CHALLENGE!!

THINSTATEOFMIND, Tracking on your fitness page is all you need to be doing to get credit for you workouts, but if you would like to you can scroll to the bottom of the team page and look for Team Goals. If you haven't already, click on "Join Goal" beside "Exercise for at least 10 minutes per day". After you've done that and have gone back to the team page you can go to the same spot and now click on "Track Goal" beside "Exercise for at least 10 minutes per day". This will take you to your other goals where you can enter in your 10 minutes there which will then contribute to the team fitness minutes. Hope that makes sense!

Thank you Sarah!

OK, I have another question. I have been working out everyday for 10 minutes and logging it through my cell to the fitness page. However, I am seeing on this team's goal page, the fitness minutes are not there. Where should I be posting my fitness minutes associated with this challenge?

I feel so foolish but I am having such a difficult time moving around this site for the January Workout Challenge. I am spending more time trying to track my workouts than it takes to do the workout. I have followed the directions that were given to me by many memebers and I am still having a tough time. I guess I won't be eligible for any prizes but that will not discourage me. I still intend on doing the workouts every day. After all I will receive the ultimate prize which is a healthier me emoticon

MICHCLEARY - thanks for confirming we can use the Quick Tracker instead of Fitness Tracker.

LOL that you call your trainer Mr. Squat Police! I don't have a nickname for my trainer, Erin, but I do refer to some of her workouts as "Death by Erin." :-)

CATSKEES, It sounds like maybe you don't have your strength training set up. On your start page look for the "My Goals & Progress" box. Underneath "Calories Burned" where it says "Burn x number of calories per week" click on "Change" which is written in red. Underneath Tracking Setup check the box beside "Strength Training". This tells the system that you want to see strength training displayed on your fitness page. Hope that fixes the problem!

I did today's strength workout. When I clicked on the button at the bottom to add it to my tracker it states that it was added but my trackers do not show the strength tracker. I can't seem to get that tracker to show up. What is my next step, I am finally taking control of me and striving to do my best with this challenge, my first one. Thanks

BEARSFANNDENVER You should get the email tomorrow. The video for today will only show up under strength training and won't give you any cardio points. You would have to do some type of cardio and track that on the cardio section of the tracker to get those points.

On the team page look for the Challenge Details box and click on the Week one link and you will find all the directions there - in case you don't get your email early and want to see what's next.

willbefit3 - it should say "SparkPeople Lower Body Sculpt Video: first half" and then another one for second half. At the bottom of the page with the video on it should be a button that says "add to fitness tracker" when you click on that, you'll get a second pop up window that asks you to verify you want to add it, and then it will post as two separate entries under strength training.

I joined this morning and did not get a week 1 e-mail that it says was to give us directions.

I found the video for day 1 - is that and the cardio all I'm supposed to do today?

How can I get the e-mail?

Also, I'm having trouble tracking points - it won't let me add any cardio points right now, only strength training.

Hi Ladies - when you click on the add button it will show up as two items under strength training on the fitness tracker. Anytime you add an item to the strength training section they system adds five minutes to your fitness minutes.

LAURA1152 - I call my trainer Mr. Squat Police! I do use the quick track when I train with him because there is just no way to log all that. You still get credit for your fitness minutes.

Way to go on working out! emoticon

Does anyone know if it's OK to use the Quick Track instead of the Fitness tracker to track our workouts during this challenge? I get that it's easy enough to track, say, a cardio workout or a Sparkpeople workout in the Fitness Tracker, but there are some cardio workouts that are not listed there (one of this team's members posted a Wii workout as an example). In addition, I work out with a personal trainer 2x/week, and she gets pretty creative - I have not found it possible to use the Fitness Tracker to log my workouts with her.

The Quick Track is far easier to use. It does have the disadvantage of not estimating calories burned, but for convenience sake, I still prefer it and wonder if we'd still get credit for our workouts if we use it. Thanks,
Laura

It is google chrome. I went in through mozilla and found the list of activities. I just have to remember to switch to mozilla to track.
