I would go with water. I can drink room temp water but we have a cooler at work (so yes I let it heat up then drink away). I find being consistent with my exercise (I love it when I'm doing it) but have a million excuses to wait or not go. That reset yesterday and I can feel muscles in my legs being not so thrilled. It is only a short period of time and I deserve time to do the gym. So rearranging life to suit.

I have two areas that are struggles for me. The first is trying to eat enough to meet the recommended intake numbers. The second is exercise. I hate it. I've been doing it but it's not something I enjoy so I dread it.

Since I've been on short term disability for the past month, the cooking of these great recipes has been fun and inspiring! I'm a little nervous about what will happen when I go back to work in a couple weeks and go back to having no time again...

Dear God,
My Prayer for 2012 is for a fat wallet and a thin body.
Please don't mix them up like last year.
Amen.

My name is Sheri and I'm with you. I am having a difficult time getting in the calories and meals I'm suppose to. I feel like I no sooner finish eating one meal than it's time to start eating again. That was one of my problems with my weight before I started...remembering to eat enough meals. Well, we are around 2 weeks in now and I hope everyone is still feeling the "can do" spirit. Luck to all!

I guess the hardest thing for me is my light beer after work. I will have a perfect food day, and the beer throws me off ( but I'm getting better at it). I also have a tough time getting enough potassium , and calcium even though I take a multi-vitamin ( I'm mostly a vegetarian except for sea food). Tonight I actually figured out how to get rid of some teams I joined, because I joined like ten ...lol. I'm still a little confused if the way I'm posting goes to one person or everyone can see it. Anyways, I've began seeing results, and I love everything else about the spark people website. Good luck everyone!

I am frustrated today and not sure why! I am not loosing as fast as I would like to see, even if it was 1/2 of a pound. I know it is early! But I guess today I am just not having a great spark moment. I have been doing at least 6 glasses or water anymore and I would have to move my office to the toilet! :) And I am actually doing well with the calories, sometimes I cant even get to the amount without eating something when I am not hungry! But I have been reading up on that and hopefully I will get that part down pretty easily! Hoping by Sunday weight in I can see improvement.

I do have a question, I have been walking a 15 minute mile each day and trying to actually get in 2 miles a day. I am wondering if I am not doing enough exercising? Anyone have any ideas!

hey all! for me, it hasn't been hard to consume the water, but it definitely takes a conscious effort for me to get up and grab some water. But after 2 weeks of so much more water in my system, my skin has been changing for the better!
It definitely does cause for a lot more bathroom trips, so I hear ya popcorncarla!

I've been finding it hard to jump right into a huge eating habit change, so what I've been doing is cutting portions down, and slowing down my eating to let my brain&stomach register how full I actually am. That's working out well! But snacking...oh lordy, snacks are just so tempting!

For me it's the Water! I like it; I typically order water when out to eat, but at work it's a challenge. Not to drink it but to stay out of the bathroom. You might say the flowing keeps me from getting into any kind of work flow w/o interruption.
But really, II did do it for a few months but I never felt like it filled me up and spent so much time in the bathroom that it was getting frustrating.

Does it count if the "water" I'm drinking has been say heated up and strained over some ground coffee beans and then perhaps dosed with a shot of creamer and splenda?

THe hardest thing for me is eating healthy. I do not like most foods so it is hard to eat better but am working on it. Finally after a month I have everyone myself included down to drinking skim milk and having whole wheat bread.

Exercise has been the easiest thing to do and I'm feeling and seeing the result of it. BUT, I have two areas of weakness and those are: getting those 8 glasses of water in, and staying within my daily calorie range. Journaling food is showing me for the first time how badly I've been eating! It's hard to change my taste for things I've come to enjoy, especially since we go out to eat a couple of times per week. The scale has moved up and down slightly, but I haven't really lost anything yet. Next time I'm out and about I'll be purchasing the SparkPeople cookbook and think that will be a great tool to have in re-learning how to cook and eat. I really don't want to fail at this because my health is on the line. And I'm trying to be patient with myself, not beat myself up because I haven't magically lost ten pounds in my first two weeks! Lol! I have lots to learn and am hanging in there, loving this site and all of you Sparklers!

Never too late!

My biggest challenge for me this past week has been being active at all. I became very sick with a cold/virus of some sort (my friends and I dubbed it the plague). That coupled with my Fibro issues, I was just about bed-ridden. I think i did ok on eating, well, I wasn't eating much, that doesn't mean I was eating well. But I had tons of water!

This week I forsee no challenges I cannot overcome!

The water is no problem here because I have always drank 6-8 glasses a day. The snacking at night is a BIG one for me. I have trouble sleeping so I am up later then I should be so then I get hungry because it has now been several hours from dinner and then its harder to sleep if I am hungry. A vicious cycle lol. I have been trying hard to get my self in bed early so even if it takes me a long time to sleep I am already comfy in bed and don't want to get up ;) So that's been my biggest struggle here.

Hmm, the hardest part. I would say that cutting out/down the pop has been the hardest part for me. I was an admitted popaholic and not the diet stuff either. At one time I would drink a 2 ltr or more a day so just having 6 oz with dinner is a major feat. Now to get rid of that 6 oz as well and all will be good, LOL.

-___- water is my biggest problem.... I am not much a drinker of any beverage so making sure that I consume 8 glasses is not easy.

One time I was so dehydrated that I caused an infection in one of my salivary glands that made my face swell up so bad they thought someone had punched me.

emoticon so keep on drinking!!!

Weirdly enough, my biggest challenge has been trying to get to the minimal numbers on most of my daily intake! I'm barely able to fit in 1200 calories a day... What a difference eating good, healthy food can make!!!!

I am two weeks in. surprisingly the water wasn't my biggest challenge. I average 1 glass of any type of drink a day, but getting my 8 glasses of water has been easy. My biggest challenge so far is not snacking. I'm realizing how much it affects my calories now so I am trying hard to cut that out. emoticon

What is your biggest challenge?

For me it's the water. I try lugging around a water bottle but at the end of the day I think I'm getting about half the water in I should be.

Odd thing is, I thought it was going to be not snacking in the evening or avoiding the ever present candy at work. Somehow though seeing the changing numbers on the scale have helped me with that because clearly this is working.
