Hi everyone it has been 4 ever since I posted on here, just trying to find time for everything can be hard. I have been focusing so much on getting out and active and working out I havent been online much. I am currently 40 pounds down I am so thrilled, words can't describe. Jessica, Sorry I've been MIA. been a bad few weeks for me and topped off with my step dad passing, leaving friday for the funeral. When I get back next week, I will be back and checking in.

Hello ladies!

Hope you all are having a lovely snowy day lol Im at home all day today since its so cold and yucky outside. I didnt make it to the gym lastnight but tonight I do plan on going when hubby can watch the baby.

Hows everyone doing with their diet and exercise? Im doing all that I am sopposed to but Im just not seeing the scale move since Sunday emoticon I guess I will just keep at it and hopefully next Sunday I will be down.

Deneen, I agree that is a great price for all 3 of you! Unfortunately I can't do it anymore. Jozef just doesn't want to do it anymore anything he has to put any effort into he doesn't want to do! He is actually very good at it and has a talent for it. With just a few minutes of practice he pretty much has it down, just doesn't want to work at it! Hard headed! Once he gets to class he is fine but just won't practice at home. I am actually going to start making him practice again. He has been on the same stage for so long that he is bored with it but won't put the effort into it to advance. Last week they did some new stuff in class and he was excited again....so hopefully if I can push him past this level he will get going again??? will wait and see

Ranking is white, yellow, orange, purple, and I forgot what comes next. Our studio is so laid back but tough. They make it fun for the boys, they love it so much, let me know if you want to visit, they give the whole family a free lesson, we pay $190 every 32 weeks and a weekly fee of $20, and this is for all three of us, I couldn't find a better deal!!

Well ladies I hope you all have a good night I have to work in the morning and my sister has my boys for an avernighter!! YEAH, it's me time!!!

Good Morning ladies,

Deneen, Congrats on quitting smoking that is so great! I'm so proud of you also!!! Where does purple belt fall in the ranking line? I'm thinking when my contract is up in October that I'm going to let Jozef stop going other than maybe a drop in....I'm paying so much a month and "making" him do it, he doesn't even practice anymore and has been the same rank for almost 2 years now cuz he just doesn't want to do it anymore. I'm so torn on it, cuz I know it is good for him and will be good for him in the long run......

Jessica, way to go on the exercise!! You rock girl. Love picture of your baby, how precious!!!

No I didn't do the gazelle or swimming, after work went home and cleaned a tiny bit, then brought left overs over to Arhturs and then we snuggled on the couch watching the color purple, then went back home and got ready for today.

Jozef has no school today because of the cold....and is loving being at home by himself to do what he wants!! Threatened him with his life if the place is trashed when I get home, especially since it took me 2 days to get it in halfway decent shape!!

Well, haven't figured out any exercise yet (lazy, lazy, lazy) But at 6:30 this morning watching an informercial I ordered the Michael Thurmond 6 week body makeover thing....Hopefully this will get me going. I really need some direction on what I am doing instead of just winging it all the time. (should have it in 4-6 weeks---time to get some exercise started...)

Hello!!

Well Im up early had my breakfast and gonna try to stay away from snacking all day. I made it to the gym lastnight I did 45 minutes on the stair climber and 15 on the Arc trainer. I felt so good after and also did 100 crunches on my ab lounger. Im gonna try to clean some more today since yesterday I didnt get much done.

Deneen-Oh ok I know Macomb County. I bet your boys are proud of you, I so wish my mom would quit her dad died from smoking when he was 56 and that still doesnt give her the ambition to quite :(

Suzanne-How are you today? Did you get that Gazelle out or go swimming? I hope all is well.

Morning ladies,

I just went out for breakfast with the family and now gonna get some cleaning done for the day. Its so cold outside so everyone bundle up. Im gonna go to the gym tonight after daughter goes back to her moms.

Suzanne-I knew it would take a minute for everyone to remember how I was, it's been almost a year. But I am back, the boys and I are still in karate, we are taking the journy slow but are working on our purple belt!! I quit smoking and feeling alot better, exercise is alot better too!! no more sharp pains in my chest anymore, how is your back doing?? And how is your son?? They grow so fast!! Trevor my 11.75 yr. old is 2 inches shorter than I am!! CRAZY!!

Deneen, Sorry to say but it took me awhile to remember who you were :} But alas this old mind has figured it out!! Are you and your boys still doing the Karate? I'm still making Jozef take it, was starting to do it with him until recently~~~~

Jessica, I need something to get me going....I guess I need to pull out the gazelle again and get some stretching and start doing a few things in the house that I can! Instead of sitting here eating a glazed doghnut with my coffee~~~~The sad part is it doesn't even taste good but still eating it!

Ok, my goal for the day while at work and no one else is......is to figure out a plan for the week for me!! Plan some type of menu and stretching routine to get back into it!! I WILL DO THIS!!!!!

Jessica, I'm so thankful that I do have a job, it's hard but I manage, I remember the 4 am feedings, It was so cool to just have one on one time with baby!! To this day my boys sometimes get up with me at 3 am to get ready for work. I think it is so sweet!! Oh, and I live in Clinton Township, MI. what area are you from?

Hello ladies!

Its good to see a couple people in the group :) I had a hard day with eating yesterday but managed to get to the gym and get 30 minutes done in the elliptical. We should come up with some challenges and goals for the group? What do you all think?

Suzanne-Im so sorry about your back, its good you are staying strong and just gonna get back on it. The pool is a wonderful exercise and should feel good on your back.

YEAHHHHH, we are getting people back....I can't wait for our group to get started again!!

Jessica, congrats on you baby boy!! What a blessing his is I am sure!!

Well for me I've been in a funk again, I hurt my back a few weeks ago and while having Xrays done they discovered that my L5 S1 disk is almost completely gone, and this had deteriated within 3 years!!! So long story short, I can no longer do ANY kickboxing or karate :( and I have given in whole heartedly to my self pity party and have eaten all junk in sight and then some.......

Now as they say it's time to put on the big girl panties and get a grip and deal with it!! I need to start using our indoor pool again and exercise in there as water type exercise is the only thing I (should) be doing if I want to avoid surgery in the near future.

Looking forward to catching up with you Ladies!! and getting back on track AGAIN!!!

Hello Everyone!

Im here! I was gone for awhile because I had my son. I had him on 1/14/08. He was 5 weeks early but came out kicking and screaming and healthy as ever :) His name is Jayan and we love him so much.

Anyways, Im back onto Sparks and ready to get busy! I hope we can get our team back together and get moving. I have done all this week by eating good and exercising everyday. My weigh-in days are gonna be Sundays!

Look forward to getting busy!

Thank you so much for all the prayers and well wishes, they are very appreciated.

I am home now, though mom is still in ICU, still continuing to have problems but not related to the heart, running lots of tests to find out what the problem is. She may have a blockage in the lower intestine and end up having surgery on that, not sure yet, cat scan showed suspicious lesions on the liver and they still need to do an ultra sound for better pictures but have a hard time getting that because of all the fluid build up she still has...So it is an on going process. Step dad (Lyle) finally got to go home yesterday and his kids are staying the week with him.

So I'm back to work today, trying to figure out how the heck I"m going to pay for the past 2 weeks.....talk about shuffling bills around..What can I say just another day in the life of LIFE!!!

Obvisouly, I haven't been doing anything as far as dieting, just trying to keep it together at this point. Waiting to see what the DRs have to say tomorrow morning if she needs more surgery or not. Trying to watch my diet this week and get in some type of work out.

So has this team died out????

Ladies, Just a real quick check in, sorry I haven't been around this week, Got very unexpected news on my mom and had to go up North...She is currently in having quadruple heart bypass and corateded(sp -- artery in neck) surgery. I won't be back until sometime next week. Please keep her and the family in your prayers. I will update when I get home next week.

Ann, Great job:) I see you have your ticker, will go check out your page shortly. Make sure when you change something to click on the save changes button. I can't remember if it's at the top right or at the bottom of the page. Just when I get used to something they change it up.

I usually only have access during the day, don't have internet at home so only at work. I do work Friday afternoons usually so am on then. I can post the challenge from some of my other groups if you would like and you could pick what you like from them.

We are doing good, just had his birthday party (10) Saturday at Metro, it was such a great time...His Birthday is this Saturday but we did a week early.

That is great you are in Macomb Twp. maybe we could hook up eventually...Tracking makes such a huge difference it seems for me anyway.

Well, I have a little work to do on it. I tried to start everything over, and it doesn't look like it updated things. But it is there for everyone to see! Maybe that will motivate me a bit. It is so hard to see that I let a whole year go by and managed to gain weight instead of lose! I would love some helpful chat...as well as some goals. I just don't get on the computer too often during the day, normally only late at night. Maybe we can keep updating each other on this site and see how that helps. How are you and your son doing? Are you loving your new (year old) apartment? I am in the Macomb Twp area, so we are not too far from each other. Hope to hear from you soon. For now, I am going to get back into tracking everything here on the site and see what I can do with it! Thanks for the info on the ticker!

Hi Ann, So sorry this group seems not to be very active anymore~~~~ I really miss the ladies but I'm sure they have a lot going on right now. What part of Michigan are you in. I'm in the Chesterfield/New Baltimore area.

As for the tracker thing, go to your sparkpage this should give you the option to edit your page, towards the bottom there should be an area to track your weight or to add a ticker (below the groups you join and above the comment section.) Hope this helps.

If this group doesn't pick up and you need something more active let me know, I have a few teams/groups that I'm on if you are interested in joined something more structured and with some internal challenges within the group.

Hi Ann, So sorry this group seems not to be very active anymore~~~~ I really miss the ladies but I'm sure they have a lot going on right now.

As for the tracker thing, go to your sparkpage this should give you the option to edit your page, towards the bottom there should be an area to track your weight or to add a ticker (below the groups you join and above the comment section.) Hope this helps.

If this group doesn't pick up and you need something more active let me know, I have a few teams/groups that I'm on if you are interested in joined something more structured and with some internal challenges within the group.

Well, I found my first post. Looks like I created a new topic instead of posting here!!! I really need to come around here more often. Below is my original post.


I haven't been here in so long. I am going to try to read some of the posts to see what everyone is up to. I hope everyone is staying strong and doing well. I have not done a thing since I was here last. I could cry with my stand still, it is all my doing...or not doing. I have a very busy summer coming up, and hope that I can at least loose a little. Can someone show (or tell me) how to get one of those weight trackers (tickers) on my posts. Maybe that would help me to visualize my stand still. Any way wanted to say hi, and I hope that I will check in much more often. Talk to you all soon.

Hi Everyone!
I was on vacation and REALLY sick before that! Sorry I haven't been around in so long.
Suzanne, Jessica and Oochi, I hope you're all doing well! Due to being sick on vacation and the hills of San Francisco, I actually LOST weight on the vacation, lol. not much, but that's better than gaining. I'm finally getting back on normal schedule, although I still have the vestiges of bronchitis so my exercise isn't up to speed yet.

Jessica, Good to see you! If it wasn't for work, I would never be on here either...I don't even have the internet at home :) Yard work sound like so much fun and great exercise!! Yes Jozef is chomping at the bit to mow lawns again, but so far we haven't been able to find anyone for him :( I am going to try and grow a couple of veggies out of pots on my patio, tomatoe, cucumber and maybe some lettuce, just one plant each probably to see how it will work out since I've never done it before but have heard that you can.

How is your weight watchers going? Are you able to meet your goals? I know I need to do something for my eating, it is getting out of control again. I am always craving salt and sugar right now and nothing seems to satisfy it....

I think we all abandoned you. I have been around just kind of busy with yardwork since it was so beautiful outside. I am glad you had a wonderful vacation, sounds like fun. How is the little guy doing? I'm sure hes getting back into mowing lawns. Well I will try to get my butt in here more often. I have been doing weight watchers and really enjoy it.

Vacatoin was great but way to short as always!!

Surprised Mom :) both on Friday when I showed up and then on Saturday when most of the rest of the family showed up (20) people with everyone bringing a dish to pass, instant dinner!! It was great!!

Mom is doing so so, still having what we call heart spells, but all testing is showing negative for heart related problems. Going to be tested for Uclers by scope end of the week i think? Step dad isn't doing to well either...He is just so stubborn (just like a man)

Missed pretty much all the snow storms while driving. Ended up with over 2 foot at moms with 4-5 foot drifts!!! Had a bit of snow for about an hour while driving home, but other than that it was good.

Will bring in the camera and download the pictures tomorrow, not many but a few of the snow and deer :)

Nope, it's just a "join in" type of group. There's also a new sparkpeople team called Ann Arbor Health and Fitness that just started - there are also folks from Belleville, Ypsi, etc., and you could probably join that, too, if you want. I want to see Wild Hogs!

Well, I had WI this a.m. and I was up .6 lbs. I'm okay with that, though, given the time in NYC. Now I'm back on TRACK! How is the kickboxing going?

So glad you had a great time in NYC!!

I took Jozef to see Wild Hogs, it was really funny, lots of cussing (not real bad words but lots of cussing) other than that it was ok for my 9 year old. It's PG13...few naked men butts some inuendo that he didn't understand, At the end it did show califonia girls in string bikinis but a short clip of it.

I so agree!!! Course I went through that mid life thing by 25,, got it over with early :)

I actually enjoy them now, not that I do any great on that day, but each year I feel much better about myself and how I look so that is always a great thing.

I don't sweat the scale at all... And given how I ate last week, I'm lucky it wasn't higher.

I was sorry to hear about your back. I'm glad you'll get it checked today!

I'm a July b'day, too! I'm the 13th... when's yours? I'd love to be under 200 by then, too, but I doubt that would happen. I'm okay with getting there by the end of October. I'm shooting for 150 by June, 2008. We'll see.

Well, I have to step back on the kickboxing class for a bit, my lower back has decided to totally act up and am in major pain!!! Damn leg lifts get me every time...even tried to modify them as I know I have problems with them...hoping by the weekend I'll be better, even if I can do the punching bag and arm stuff will be better than nothing. Have a Dr. appt. friday to see how I can modify things so it doesn't hurt and then taking it to the instructors for their help also......Oh well only a minor set back not a total one!!

Well, I started out a year and a half ago with this goal weight and lost 14 pounds that I have kept off... Have gained and lost 5 pounds about 15 different times!!! So I figure I'm below goal since 5 x 15 = 75 pounds lost :D Oh if it only worked this way!!!!

I mainly want to get under the 200 mark by July my 42nd birthday. I would be more than happy with that!!

Don't worry about that .8 pound...I flucuate anywhere from 213 to 221 in a weeks time frame!!! I can be 213 one day and 221 the next, so if on weigh in day fri. morning...Is what I usually go by, but if it's up by 5 pounds from the day before I stay with my starting weight that week and then up it if it is still up the next week. I find that it usually isn't though.

It's WAY too quiet on this board! I agree, Suzanne, I hope everyone's okay.

I'm taking a slower approach - I'm slated for July 2008, but that would be fine with me.

Of course, if I have weeeks like last one then it's going to take a lot longer, lol. I had wi this morning and I'd gained .8 lbs., which isn't bad considering how many bad days I had over the past week. Ugh. Being back on track is GOOD!

Yeah, I'm still at the same target range even with the exercise, I had already put that into my tracking when I redid it. I'm still shooting for loosing the weight by July so that cuts down my loosing time.

Hey Suzanne,
I think a lot of this is about listening to our bodies. We ARE going to get cravings, so the question is how do we let ourselves have them or remove them or whatever. Normally, I can have small amounts and be satisfied. If I'm out of control, that seems to be a separate issue. And there's no doubt that when exercise is increased a lot we're GOING to be more hungry. Did you adjust for the new amounts of exercise in your goals? That may give you some more legit cals.
I have HOURS of school work to do today... ugh. My fault - I left it too long, lol. I hope your day goes well. I have our Sunday breakfast in the oven - a strawberry clafouti, and we'll be having pork loin for dinner, and I have to plan the rest of the food for the day. Hope you have a good one!

Thanks Jen, All that carrying stuff in from the truck can be counted as cardio/strength training :) also all the walking around the store!!

A Good thing, Jozef doesn't do ice cream so that is a temptaion that we don't have around. I did have pizza, Went to Pizza hut, had 1 slice with the cheese bite crust...very yummy and a half of a cheesey bread stick.

Yesterday was a carb day for me, but I probably needed it....breakfast was McDonalds after kickboxing, biscut, bacon, egg, and hash brown. Then the pizza for dinner, night snack was some grapes, and some pringles about 2 servings.

Today back eating healthy, breakfast is orange, grapes, either cin. raisin oatmeal or a cin raisin wheat english muffing. brougth the last few cheese bites of crust(son ate all the pizza part) for lunch, dinner will be fish fillets(fish sticks) a salad and not sure what else. I'm craving some potatoes with sourcream and salsa with cheese melted on it???? will see, and more fruit not sure what yet.

That's just great about the kickboxing. It's so cool, too, that you and Jozef can both enjoy that setting so much. I'd let yourself have pizza, but limit it to one slice (if you get a large) or 2 small slices and then fill up with salad beyond that. Also, if you're craving sweet and Jozef likes DQ, you can ask them for a kiddie cone - it's about 120 calories for the ice cream and the cone.

I got through my healthy day yesterday and am feeling back on track now. It's a good feeling!

Today's a weight training day, but I usually do that late morning on Saturdays. DH and I are about to take a MAJOR run to costco. Yuck. I have all these coupons to use before tomorrow, though, so it's kind of necessary.

I'm doing good, had 3 kickboxing classes so far and another one tomorrow. Still loving it!!, back is a bit sore and stiff today, but hoping to work through it tomrrow. Trying to keep it stretched out, hard with a sit down job.

Very hungry now that exercise has increased, trying not to eat to much junk but the salt is winning at this point. Not to bad over on calories usually with 50-75, over by more than about 200 today and still am hungry :( Bad choices when I grabbed something quick (pizza rolls).

Need to make sure I plan out meals this next week so I'm not grabbing on the go.

Jozef is testing in Karate this weekend for his half test (halfway to a new belt rank) then we will be going out to eat after...really want pizza...Tired of salads had about 5 this week......I'm also craving sweet right now and I don't usually do that unless it's TOM but already finished that~~~ Go figure....

Other than all that How are you doing??

I'm still here Jen, Just had a day off work :) Check with your Dr. they can actually do a test to see if you are in perimenopause. Yes keep getting back on each day, even a half day of watching it is better than no day!!
