This is day 2 for me and I feel very good. This is not a hard plan to follow, I can do this!

I weigh myself far too much also, I would say try taking measurements periodically, you may be pleasantly suprised.

Stop weighing every day - your body is trying to heal itself.....there may be several reasons why the scale is giving you static.

Lesson number two:

The scale is the least accurate barometer we have. Things that might cause an upward trend include: the barometric pressure, the time of the month, muscle development because of increased exercise, the increased amount of water being consumed (water is heavy), illness or injury........(sometimes we don't know that we are getting sick.)

Example: right now I'm battling a stomach bug.....been getting rid of stuff all morning - the scale says I'm heavier. The answer? My body is sending healing fluid to my gut in an attempt to heal it. The weight will come off again when my system is done purging the 'enemy'.

So - keep on keepin on.....you'll see a change soon if you're doin' everything according to plan....

Chin up .... emoticon

Thanks! Those were some good ideas! I am a teacher and coach so it makes it hard to have things "on hand" with practices and games going on until 10 pm or so!! I guess I will have to learn how to do my cooking and snack making on the weekends.
Thanks!

Kathy is right! Ignore the calorie counts if you track on Spark. I think most of us have had it drummed into us to count calories though. Sometimes that is a huge hurdle to get over. If I could turn that part off of the Spark tracker I would. emoticon

Barlus28 -

Try not to count calories and make sure your protein levels are up, up, up......unlimited protein on Cycle 1, which will stave off the hunger..........

Your calories are going to be lower because the Cycle 1 plan is very nutrient dense -

The analogy: a doughnut has an average of 350-490 calories.....all sugar, wheat, carbohydrates, 18 grams of fat, 3 grams of protein, 350 mg of sodium......

A half chicken breast has an average of 150 calories...no sugar/carbs, 3 grams of fat, 27 grams of protein, 64 mg of sodium......

So - as you see, you can have one doughnut for breakfast and swallow 1/4-1/3 of your calories for the day and relatively no nutrition to say nothing of a half day's allotment of fat .......or you can have a half chicken breast for half the calorie 'cost' and really excellent, high nutrition to start your day off right.......(tho I've never had chicken breast for breakfast yet.....) emoticon

So - for Cycle 1, trust what Dr. Mike is suggesting.......then after you get used to it and move thru cycles 2-4, tracking is sometimes helpful to see what kind of nutrition you are getting from your foods.......calorie counts will come up in those cycles, but if you're gonna watch, the more important thing to watch is the nutrition.......

You're doin' great, everyone!!

Today is my first day on cycle 1 - so yeah I'm with you! I've been "practicing" for the past few days but I have to say the rules of this diet are so simple. So far I had my lemon water followed by a raspberry Kefer smoothie for breakfast. Sipping on water - and already have planned a salmon salad for lunch :))

Today is my first day on Cycle 1. I tried this plan half-hearted in the past for a few days but I am going to give it my best shot. Sounds like there is a lot of support on this team.

Hi all.

Tess...I'm on Day 2 of Cycle 1, so I'm with ya on the change in lifestyle. Have to admit that I haven't been super hungry though. I'm eating lots of protein. Made these mini turkey meatloaves over the weekend. Found the recipe either on here or on the Doctor's website. It's very good!! I have them for a snack whenever I'm hungry. Protein is the key to staying full....that's for sure.

Hang in there. I believe the carb cravings will pass if we stick it out. Just eat protien and veggies when you are truly hungry.

I have to agree---EAT! You can have more protein as a snack. I have read on here where some keep taco seasoned ground turkey cooked and ready in the fridge for a quick snack on a lettuce wrap. Don't get stuck on yogurt only as your pro-biotic either. Kefir was mentioned but there is also sauerkraut, Miso soup etc. The supplements was a good idea by the way! I also keep hard boiled eggs handy and cut veggies and a Ranch dip made with Greek yogurt and no mayo. Also make some of the Chicken Vegetable soup--recipe in the book. It has saved me a few times! And don't forget your water and emoticon !! This diet is what you make of it. Be creative! As was said earlier, you should NOT starve!
Fage is also my favorite brand---it seems to have a milder taste. emoticon

The egg beaters might be the culprit.......they have preservatives in them for shelf life purposes that might be triggering your hunger meter. Fresh eggs might be a better choice.

Re: Yogurt - Have you tried Kefir?
I usually use Greek Yogurt with Truvia or Stevia and fresh berries......takes the 'bite' out of the yogurt. Personally, I prefer Fage brand. That might help.

For me, separating my breakfast (egg whites, for instance).....from the berries and yogurt really helps.......so - breakfast when I get up, yogurt/berries at 10:00 am, then lunch at the normal time and on thru the day......

You can eat large amounts of protein in this cycle which will stave off the hunger.....and keep the water going......:-))

Anyone else wanna jump in here?

I had 2 eggs (egg beaters) with chopped onions, mushrooms and red pepper. BUT i forgot my fruit! I despise yogurt so I just took a probiotic supplement and at a wee bit of cottage cheese ( it has PROBIOTIC COTTAGE CHEESE in the book so I figured eating them together would be ok.) I wish there were something else I could snack on other than yogurt. For lunch I had a chicken breast with veggies and I will eat an apple before 2. I feel better now, but may have over done the veggies since I was so hungry.

Welcome!!!!

What did you have for breakfast and your morning snack?

That info will help us help you .......
It is rare that folks feel super hungry when starting out - usually just the opposite......."I was so surprised that I was not hungry after just two egg whites for breakfast......"

Let's see what we can do to send your hunger demon packing!!

I am on day 4 of cycle 2 having lost 13lbs so far...yes, it is hard, but there is food to eat out there and you MUST eat it. Never thought I would find myselff snacking on Celery and saying mmm. Just shows. Always preferred fruit cake or a large sandwich with butter and cheese. Hence the fact I had to lose 30 lbs!! So persevere and get clever with vegetables. There are some recipes on this site that will help too. He has just brought out a cookbook to go with the original diet book and I have ordered it from our local library in the uk but have not read it yet. Good luck and keep posting it really does help and you can lose the weight if you stick to it...the trick will be to keep it off.

Eat! You should not be that hungry on C1! Albeit, there's not a big variety of food to choose from, but there's food and you shouldn't get hungry. Good luck. Eat and drink your water!
