Can you really eat a lot on this plan? I had a huge (in my eyes) lunch - filled a dinner plate with steamed green beans, carrots and red bell peppers and topped it with 2 sole fillets and 1 tbsp olive oil. Finished up with a pear and green tea. That was 40 minutes ago and my stomach is growling. Should I eat again already or is this just because I've started a new plan and my body is adjusting?

Had a pretty good day yesterday and I feel just like you, Saralee. Going to see how close I can get to goal by Christmas. It's only 28 days-4 weeks-doable but not overwhelming. Wish me luck all. Just talked to Linda and she had a good day yesterday too. Feels good to be back on.

Welcome baaaack.. FP4H !!! Glad your time away was relaxing :) We missed you!

Welcome Susan & Tracey!! You will really enjoy this team and this diet! We all really believe that this healthy eating plan gives us the tools we can use for the rest of our lives :)

Just a little forewarn.. you might feel a little lethargic between days 3-5, while your body is ridding itself of toxins. Take it easy during these days, and drink lots of water, and make sure you're eating enough veggies & protein! But after that.. your energy will SOAR!!

I had a great Monday - I am really going for the gusto - trying to lose as much as I can before Christmas! Not sure if I can make it to my goal by then, because I always lose slower (about 3/4 - 1 pound per week) when I am this close to goal. But I definitely want to be below 130!!

OFF TO THE TREADMILL :)))

Thanks for the welcome! I guess I should say that my name is Susan :)

Doing fairly well. Got grocery shopping and I'm looking forward to trying out some of the recipes here. Had my fruit at 2:20, but that's when I got out of the market with food! LOL Also had plain kefir with truvia, pumpkin pie spice and a splash of vanilla extract...yum! Hopefully I'll get a walk in tonight.

See you tomorrow!

want to say hi and welcome to all the newbies first!! Hope you will enjoy this team! They are a helpful group!

Well--the cottage was relaxing! DH got caught up on sleep but now he is back at work and will probably be working 60+ hour weeks again! I was not 17 DD compliant while gone but did stay in a reasonable calorie range and tried to eat sensibly at least! Thanksgiving with the owners of the cottage was good too. That is the thing about spending it with strangers--you are more conscientious of how much you eat, not wanting to be impolite! emoticon

Been decorating for Christmas since being back--I need another vacation now! LOL! Will blog about the week soon! Already took up too much space here! emoticon

I was concerned about the Chobani. It has evaporated cane juice. I probably won't continue to eat it because I don't want to chance sabotaging my weight loss. I will get the plain yogurt and I saw in the book you can use sugar free fruit jam it it.

Welcome Tracey and Turtlegirl. Nice to have new members on our great team. This diet works! For the Chobani blueberry yogurt, make sure it doesn't have sugar in it. I usually use plain yogurt and add stevia so I'm not familiar with their flavored yogurts.

Hello, Tracey here. This is day 1 for me. So far so good.

Started the day with lemon water.

For breakfast I had a boiled egg, 6 oz chobani blueberry yogurt, and a cup of green tea.

For lunch I had a salad with plain tuna and a dressing I made myself with 1 TBS olive oil, 2 TBS apple cider vinegar, mustard, ms dash garlic and herb and onion and herb seasonings and 1 tsp truvia, and a cup of green tea

I will have some red grapes as a snack before 2:00

For dinner I will have grilled chicken breasts and vegetables with green tea.

I am about to finish my 2nd 20oz bottle of water and fill it up again. Hopefully I will be able to finish my third before I leave work today.

So far I have not experienced any hunger and I am feeling pretty energetic.

I walked for 4 miles this morning and plan on 20 minutes on my treadclimber after work.

I do have to pick up some more things to keep me stocked, but I am really looking forward to sticking to this plan by the letter.

Thanks for the support and I look forward to the positive updates

- Tracey

Hi! I'm new to this team as well. I just started today! I'm off to a so-so start since I haven't gone food shopping yet, but I didn't want that to be my excuse not to start. So I'm off to stock up and give this plan a go. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Angelgirl.. if you just had one splurge day, you should just jump right back in where you left off! WAY TO GO!!!!!!

Bottledigger.. sorry about your "off" week. Don't worry, girl! You're not alone. I'm on my 3rd bad day, and major PMSing.. but we are heading home tomorrow, and leaving all the leftovers with my dad! Woot! READY for a great week! How about you!??

It got so cold so fast, that I haven't exercised at all since Thursday. Blecch. Looking forward to getting home to my treadmill.

LETS DO THIS, TEAM!!!!!! We will NOT let ourselves sink into "holiday downward spiral"!! Whatever the last few days held, are BEHIND US NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello All! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I will admit that I splurged a bit, but stuck with my lemon water (I really like it now) and I didn't gain any weight, which I was surprised. I jumped right back into it today, but I'm wondering do I re-start with the first 17 days again or pick up where I left off??

Thank you everyone for the welcome. Just finishing C1D3 and so far down 2# and I'm starting to enjoy my lemon water (I add half of a truvia packet). I'm finding it challenging to drink so much green tea. I the 17DD taco salad, yummy! I'm up for the challenge of Thanksgiving. Bring on the Turkey!

Leeann, I hope you're feeling better and that you can get medical help if it's a kidney infection.
FP, have a good and relaxing trip and enjoy getting away from it all.
Welcome, Angelgirl and Winning
Saralee, hang in there, PMS doesn't last forever.
To everyone else, let's keep hanging in until Thanksgiving. I have to confess I'm not doing as well you all but I'm going to try to have a better tomorrow.

Hello! I'm brand new to the 17DD. I just completed C1d1. The hot lemon water I think will be an aquired taste, but not bad. I do however need to get some flavored green tea. Today was a good day and I felt hungry, but never starving. And I'm certainly not going to bed hungry. I just really need to stick with this. I have a terrible habit of quitting after two weeks.

Good luck everyone!

It has been a rough week - I think I have a kidney infection. Can't get into DR to confirm so I am fighting this on my own. I've been pretty much on program with the exception of dark chicken meat instead of white. Not my fav so I didn't get crazy with it, so it made me go to bed hungry - something I think we are all used to.

Stay strong over the weekend my friends. Life has a tendency of getting out of control around this time of year.

Great job, ladies!!

I had a very tempting day (pms I think), but stayed within boundaries. I am on C3, but I know the carbs I chose were not all the "good" kind. Luckily, my carbs were all before 2pm. Grrrr.. I'm gonna be DONE eating, have a little tea, and BRUSH, FLOSS & GARGLE!!

Did well today. Even walked outside for a change! It was 48 degrees and sunshiny so I walked for 20 minutes. The mail brought a doctor bill though that was not expected. UGH! Yeah--it was billed correctly, but I was NOT happy! Having a cup of my new favorite seasonal tea (Bigalow's Eggnogg'n) now in my Stay Calm cup. emoticon Everyone "carry on" :-) emoticon

Been doing pretty well. Weight loss is non-existent but didn't lose much the first time through on cycle 2. I have 3 more days on the Turkey Trot Challenge. The best part of the challenge for me has been more consistent exercise. I am getting ready for my week away with DH. No internet or cell service where we are going so you probably won't hear from me next week. I'll have to track the old fashioned way I guess! Friday a local lumber and home improvement store is having Fresh Fruit Friday. They did this last year at Thanksgiving and Christmas and I used the fruit to make fruit baskets for a couple families. I plan on taking some with us on the trip. We were invited for Thanksgiving by the owners of the cottage where we are staying. I think maybe a nice fruit basket or flowers would be a nice hostess gift. emoticon

So happy to see so many on our team, fighting the good fight!! Even maintaining this time of year is WAaaay better than gaining!! We ALL know how that feels when January rolls around. That's why the Turkey Trot is a challenge of compliance & habits!! Weight lost will be a bonus :))

I need to go succumb to the treadmill or WATP video... lol. I am a "fair weather walker" and I'm afraid my fair weather days are over. :((

Well, well it is Day 9 for me of a Cycle 1 Restart...kind of a mental struggle today, but I am making it...did not exercise yesterday because I left early to take my mama to the dentist...60 miles to get her...30 miles to dentist...30 miles to take her home...60 miles back to my house...grab yogurt then go with my husband to retina specialist for his eye exam ..35 miles there...get groceries while in "town" and by the time I headed home...I was pooped..he had a great checkup...no laser treatments on his eyes or anything and does not have to go back for 6 months...IF I had thought about it, I could have walked while he was in the dr.;s office because they have a very nice walking area behind the building...I got home and thought about it...really made me mad cause I have walked it before and really liked it (has fountains around...pleasant..and have thought about going back there when I would be in town running errands...) anyway, it did not even cross my mind yesterday...well, I am rambling...need to get up and do a walking video and get some chicken in the oven!!!!!! Hope everyone is having a good evening!!!!!

Have started the day great with my workout. My weight isn't doing much and I've finally broke the upward trend after Wednesdays indiscretion. To my credit, I got right back on plan the next day instead of blowing it off and deciding to start again on Monday.

Well, off for a bike ride in the cold air. The wind will give me two workouts in one.

Yes, back on track emoticon thanks to the Turkey Trot challenge I restarted cycle 1 and have lost a total of 18 lbs. This is usually my toughest time of year to lose weight and I usually enter the holiday season sluggish, down on myself, and dreading them. This year I've got a whole new attitude and I'm feeling great!
Thanks for all the tips, wisdom, and support to my teammates and fellow Sparkers!

Keep on Sparkin'

Haha.. Black Friday - usually try to avoid shopping that day. To each his own.

YES.. depending on what cycle you are on, calories are lower than SP recommends, but FULL of nutrition.. hence the lack of "hunger". Don't worry about it, for now. This is why Dr. Mike doesn't recommend counting calories. HOWEVER, this is also why you don't want to stay on C1 or even C2 forever. When we change it up somewhat, this helps our metabolism not get used to the lower amt. of calories. There really is REASONING behind the 17 day cycles!! Each cycle is meant to slowly and healthfully increase calories!!

I am on C3 and I like to track my food - typical day is between 1100-1400 calories.. perfect (even by SP standards!)

I appreciate your thoughts and for sharing your plans. It will only be the 3 of us, as always. Josh isn't big on turkey, and right now I'd like a break. I'm thinking ham. Steaks would be nice if I had a way to bbq.

Josh & I always do the crazy black Friday thing and will be camped out. I've already started my food list of the right things to pack. I have already resolved to get back on plan - just like I did this week. I've just noticed that DH has been snacking on peanut butter and ritz. Not me - I've been good as gold. Fallling off the wagon on Wednesday was not planned, but quickly corrected.

I am going to see family between Christmas & New Years - that is my inspiration to stay on program and exercise.

I've noticed when I track my nutrition, my calories are way down, yet I am not hungry. I know too few calories slows down the loss. Has anyone else noticed?

Actual TG day should be fairly easy for me to stay on track this year. DH and I have a cottage rented for the week and are avoiding the usual family drama. I will be on cycle 2 (started it today!) so we may get a couple nice steaks instead of turkey. This Saturday we are going to my Dad's and that is where I am making him a mini Thanksgiving dinner. I started cooking yesterday. I made cranberry sauce (reg and sugar-free), pumpkin pie emoticon (today I will make myself a sugar-free pumpkin something) and I am roasting a turkey breast this afternoon. emoticon We will take it all to his house in the morning (a 2 hour drive).I also have green beans and sweet potatoes in the mix and deviled eggs. WOW! Sounds like a lot huh? LOL! The sweet potatoes will be fairly plain. My Dad and DH like them with a dab of butter and brown sugar. Also the green beans are just plain ol' green beans! Thankfully there is a really nice walking trail close to my Dad's neighborhood! If the weather is nice I will have to take a stroll! emoticon

Yay! Great loss!!! I'm with you Bottledigger on Thanksgiving. The meal itself isn't that unhealthy, but the leftovers can be awful!! I am the cook so I make just one regular dessert and usually one sugar free one. I make turkey and the usual but I eat turkey, a little dressing (hey once a year), green beans and maybe a tad of sweet potatoes and try for the sugar free dessert. I also give away the leftovers if dh doesn't want them. I did it one other year and it felt great and I managed through Christmas that year too. I decided if I want it bad enough, I can do it. Since I do the meal and dishes and cleanup after, I'm usually exhausted so I figure I get my exercise. The one problem I have is when I rush, I tend to mindlessly taste things as I go and I'm going to try hard not to do that this year. Three of us (out of 9 adults) are on a diet so I might even make an extra veggie or something to fill me/us up. Like you said, it's one day and it's about family and thanks, not just the food. And how nice to have an extra reason for celebrating--your birthday!!

Alright, girl!! This is a turning point for you - we can not, are not going to let Tday/bday throw you into a tizzy for the rest of the year!!!

You need to be as vocal as possible, and get as much support as possible, and have a PLAN!! For Tday and beyond! I don't care if you love to bake, or even if you are Sara Lee or Paula Deen herself! That does NOT mean you need to punish your body with what it doesn't need! One piece and give the rest away - or freeze it. And only you know if freezing really works for you. Do you go and pull some out every day after that, and then a week later, since you've "blown it" you blow off the holidays? Well.. if that is your mindset, then you need to throw out any sweet leftovers! It's either wasted in the trash or it's wasted in your body!!

Start with thinking about what you did last year, and the year(s) before that did not work, and you must do something different this year!!

We feel for you and we're here for you - and each other!!!!!! This is why we started the T.Trot. We ALL know how January feels when we've jumped off the nutrition cliff at the end of the year. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

But this year..think about yourself with THESE feelings! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

These are for me too, friends!!

I always weigh in on Friday and update my ticker. I am down 1 lb from last Friday, however, I had eaten peanut brittle all weekend and was up 4 pounds by Monday morning...so I got that off plus the one...I plan to ramp up the water drinking today...I have not been getting enough water...you know I don't think it is Thanksgiving Day that I have to be so concerned about...that is just one day ...it is what you have LEFTOVER in the house and keep munching on. I think I will need to get rid of sweets quickly...I always have family over at my house for Thanksgiving and it is usually my birthday (this year my birthday is the day after) anyway, this year it will only be my mother (81) and my brother and sister over...I know I will bake myself a birthday cake! I love to bake! I will just have to give it away or freeze it because year before last I started a sweet binge after my birthday and ate through the whole holiday season...not going to do that this year. I know what that can do and I know what eating lots of sugar can do in just one weekend...it is just hard...but what I have to focus on now is today and getting out of the 220's...I am 222.5 and this is where I always get "stuck" ...I keep thinking about those of you who have lost A LOT of weight and know I can do it to!sorry if this turned into a blog! Have a good Friday everyone!

GOOD FOR YOU, BOTTLEDIGGER!! Awesome decision - and you will thank yourself later, if not already!!

LEANNROCKS - I hadn't thought too much about Tday food yet. Hmmm. I will be on C3 so I might have a little more leeway, but.. in general, I will definitely have zero carbs all morning - probably an eggwhite omelette with veggies. Then when my family comes over, I will load up on veggies with dip made from greek yogurt, and when it's time to eat the meal, I will definitely help myself to lots of turkey!! I usually make the kids some "plain" green beans, since they don't care for the casserole, so I'll probably have some. I think with those choices, I will be full enough to just enjoy a few bites of the favorite "must haves" like a small lump of mashed pots, and sweet potato casserole and probably a sliver of whichever pie tickles my fancy that night. The rolls don't tempt me, thankfully. That will about do it for my shrunken appetite, as well!! I will also drag the family out for an after-supper walk!! How about you?

How about everyone else... will you indulge? I think LOADing up on the good stuff will help leave less room for too much else.

I am curious, what are your Thanksgiving menu plans? We will be on day 15. Not really sure if it matters, my stomach has shrunk so much that after about a cup of food, I'm done.

Hi everyone!
WRITERGIRL - fantastic!! How exciting - and look at that ticker move :))

Looks like there's a lot of FOCUSed friends on our team this month! Let's keep encouraging each other with posts, goodies & stuff!

Having an encouraging day. Haven't turned on the news, or radio and I'm on a Facebook fast. Just working on MY health - emotionally, physically & spiritually! (And my family follows suit, of course!)

Great day for a walk with my dog today - should have worn ear muffs.

On track eating, except for one bite of a pumpkin dump cake I made for our lead teacher's bday. Just needed to make sure it firmed up right. But everyone brought crap and I had none. I'm on C3 so the "bite" wasn't officially offtrack - but I wouldn't usually allow that to be one of my 100 calorie snacks. lol.

WRITERGIRL55 That is fantastic! I am looking forward to that day myself! I am happy right now that most 1X and some XL (there seems to be a difference) are fitting now. Congrats!

I'm doing good with eating - haven't made the time for exercise in the past 4 days. Changed that today - did some weight training and a 1 hour walk.

I'm on track. 178 lbs now down from 203 lbs. I went shopping today for a few tops and I fit into a Misses Large! I haven't shopped in the Misses Dept in years. I usually just head for the plus size dept. Everything there is too big for me now. HURRAY!!

emoticon Been doing well on eating the last two days. Been baking this morning in preparation for the mini Thanksgiving this Saturday for Dad. It occurred to me this morning that Sunday will be the 18th anniversary of my Mom's death and it will be good for Dad to have company. emoticon

Hi,
Just checking in - my eating has been good but chores have kept me from bonified exercise. I'll be jumping back on that starting today. My weight is dropping - that's great. Every day seems easier. I'm missing the breads and sweets but I only have cravings in the evening.

TTYL!

Great job everyone who is going to be slimmer by Thanksgiving - only 2 weeks from tomorrow!

Bottledigger,
You are doing it! Nice job! I am also on D3 and it's going great. I feel good, scale is going down a little and I too am so grateful to my 17DD friends. I couldn't do it without this challenge so I am so grateful for that too. am not that far from my goal and I think if I keep at it, I can be there very soon, hoping by Christmas. Let's all have a good day 4 today or whatever day you are on. We can do it!!!
