A quick check in after a long day. I was on track today. Tomorrow will be a bit of a challenge as I am spending the day with friends. I plan to do my best.

Hope everyone is doing well this week!

Cyndi - Impressive biking. Woo Hoo!! Yes, staying on track is so much easier when we have a well stocked kitchen chock full of compliant foods.

I am on track again today as well. I am waiting for DS to come to the kitchen so we can eat our dinner. He had a meeting that ran late so for once dinner is ready and I have a few minutes to sit till he changes his clothes and joins me. I continue to feel a little stronger each day. It is one week today that I had my hysterectomy...remarkable really when I think about it. I bravely ventured to the basement and did a load of laundry this after noon. It is all dried and put away already, so this gal is a happy camper. Tomorrow is my post op visit with the surgeon. I think he will be pleased with my progress. I am not so patient and wish I were further along, but I know I have nothing to complain about really.

Let's make this a great week!

Tammy - glad you are feeling better.
June - vacations are to enjoy, so glad you had fun!
Isa - packing snacks helps. I find the yogurt w berries a great snack to keep in the frig for when I come home.
Kitty - hope the weight is dropping now. Make sure to stay extra hydrated with the added exercise.
Daumier - hope your hubby is better!

Did great today - on track and just hot back from stocking up at the grocery. Now to plant some green beans. Hopefully it will be enough sun on our patio. Still enjoying the DC area but after one year, still can't sell our house in Dayton. It does help from eating out too often.

Biked 20 miles yesterday. It felt fantastic the first 12 and then the body let me know I need to do this more often. I made it and felt quite proud !

I am checking in early again today as I find I tire pretty easily and sometimes pretty early these days. I am on track again today. Will have left over chicken for dinner with a salad and fresh green beans. I also am pleased that I had the energy to clean 4 packs of strawberries that DS and I will enjoy. I also walked to the curb to pick up the newspaper for the first time since my surgery. My neighbor has been retrieving the paper and bringing it to me since my surgery, but today I felt strong enough to walk outside and do it myself. I have been walking around the house as much as I can but I feel accomplished having walked outside a bit today (not far, but still feel good about it).

Sunday blessings to everyone!

June - welcome back! I predict those pounds will be gone quickly. I suspect a bit of that weight is water from sodium in the foods you ate while on vacation. That happens to me quite a bit.

I am pretty much back on track today, 5 days after my surgery and after having indulged in the non-plan food brought to me by friends. Today I made crock pot chicken and cauliflower. Had that for lunch and will have more for dinner. Also will have a nice fresh salad for dinner made with veggies from a friend's garden.

Here's to a great Saturday followed by a great Sunday for all of us!

I am back after 9 days of vacation from work and from the diet. I gained 4.5lbs and am not surprised since I ate and drank what I wanted the whole time. I am going to do cycle 1 for a few days and then jump to cycle 2. I think those pounds should drop off fast. Hope everyone is doing better than me!

June :)

Issa – Below is a modified version of a recipe I found online some time ago. For me the key is to slice the zucchini very thinly, to make sure the oven is hot enough, and make sure you bake the zucchini till it is crispy. Sometimes instead of tossing the zucchini with the olive oil I spread out the thin zucchini slices on the baking pan and lightly spray the oil over the slices and then sparingly sprinkle the cheese on top. I know some recipes include bread crumbs but that is not a compliant ingredient for most of us.
• Cooking spray
• 2 medium zucchini (about 1 pound total)
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan (3/4-ounce)
• 1/8 teaspoon salt
• Freshly ground black pepper
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.
Slice the zucchini into 1/4-inch thick rounds. In a medium bowl, toss the zucchini with the oil. In a small bowl, combine the Parmesan, salt, and a few turns of pepper. Dip each round into the Parmesan mixture, coating it evenly on both sides, pressing the coating on to stick, and place in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake the zucchini rounds until browned and crisp, 25 to 30 minutes. Remove with spatula. Serve immediately.

Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Hi to all. I'm having difficulty staying on track as well. A few things are side tracking me. I should focus on the right snacks and minimize eating out. I go back to work tomorrow. Summer was way to short. Made zucchini chips tonight but were way to salty and soggy. If anyone has a good recipe I would love to see it. For tomorrow I will pack the almonds and carrots, and have breakfast before I leave the house. Great idea with the chicken Tammy, lately I've been buying the roast chicken. It works well at my home because I like white and my husband likes dark. Have a good night everyone.

Kitty - Perhaps your plateau will break when you move into C2. Sometimes it happens that way. Don't get discouraged! Celebrate the success you have had so far.

Here comes the weekend! It will be a quiet stay at home weekend for me. I don't plan on going anywhere till Tuesday when I have my post-op visit with my doctor. My dear neighbor is going to grocery shop for me tomorrow. I put boneless skinless chicken breasts on the list. So I am hoping to get back on track in the next few days.

Been staying on track just fine except for the handful of Goldfish whole grain crackers yesterday :) Have a new found joy of Fage greek yougurt... makes a great base for tuna salad and makes the morning breakfast berries doubly delish. Have tried making a keifer smoothy with coco powder to help curb a chocolate craving last week - but it was a slight disaster.Plan on trying again - but just not hungry enough in the evenings for the effort of pulling down the blender (which is good I guess).

I am disappointed though - - I have totally plateaued this week. C1D15 No movement on the scale in six days, and I have even doubled my walking and added in some toning with free weights. Disappointed because this is the weight where I always stall out. I was really hoping to break that mark and had made such great progress previously... so ya, disappointed.

Lin - Praying your hubby does well. Lying still like that can be quite difficult.

Dsumlauft - You are in veggie heaven! Sounds fabulous.

I am doing ok today, a little tired post-op...likely has something to do with the pain meds and anesthesia. On a modified version of the diet for a few days....keeping my carbs in check but still having more than if I was on track. Will take things one day at a time till I feel I can be on track again.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

It is hard to stay on track when you stuck in waiting rooms. Yuck! I hope your hubby is fine.

I'm on track, back to my "before goof-up" weight, but I'm moving to the second phase. I get a box of veggies weekly from a farm (all organic, very yummy) and of course it includes potatoes and corn. I had my medium potato for lunch and will save my corn for a few days, can't wait. Also got some fennel, green beans, kale, beets, and garlic. I just planted some more spinach and carrots for a late crop. I am hoping to fill up my freezer before winter strikes here in Wisconsin. Organic veggies from Trader Joes or WholeFoods is expensive and not nearly as good as from down the street, although a good second choice. So, while I could stand to be on phase 1 for longer, I don't want the veggies to go to waste and I think it will be more tolerable. Good luck everyone!

Tammy-glad to hear it went well...except for the little glitch.

I did not do well today as far as eating. Had to sit in the waiting room for hubby for about 4 hours. They had cookies and coffee. I ate them but did have salmon and veggies for dinner.
His eye surgery went well. Now the lying flat for 24 hours. He's doing good considering...

Will try to get more compliant tomorrow.

Issa - I like to snack on veggies like baby carrots or green beans. I can eat green beans like candy sometimes. I also keep natural unsalted almonds on hand at all times (even keep some in my car). I also always have hard boiled eggs in the fridge to snack on.

Thank you everyone for your prayers, support, and encouragement. My surgery yesterday went well. I was in the OR before 7:30 am and in recovery by 9:30 am. I came home from the hospital at 8 pm last night and slept from midnite to 6 am this morning. The only complication was that my uterus turned out to be bigger than the surgeon anticipated, resulting in laceration of my vagina which thus meant some extra stitches. No big deal in the scheme of things. I am moving pretty well but of course not exercising. I get up and walk around at least once an hour if I'm not napping. So I think I am doing really well. My friend is staying here with me and DS till tomorrow. The pain comes and goes, sometimes stronger than others, but that is normal too I think.

Thanks again friends...your support means a lot.

Trying to stay compliant. Last night made a great taco salad for me and hubby. This morning had my egg whites with leftover green beans. Today I'm going to sneak in a smoothie this afternoon. The vacation has taken me off of my routine. Hard to get back to all the requirements right off. What's for dinner with you all? What do you snack on? Hope all is going well for all of you.

Isa and Cyndi - How nice to see your posts and know that you are still here. I appreciate your kind words and good thoughts.

I am keeping this short today as I still have much to do in anticipation of tomorrow's surgery. I will check back in here as soon as I am able. In the meantime, stay strong, take care of yourselves, and please keep me in your prayers.

Hi to all. I've been incommunicado since mid July. I was on my trip/vacation and when retuned home, my husband developed vertigo. he is finally doing much better. It's been a tough time for him this summer. Sooooo I haven't been compliant on the 17dd. I have gained 2 lbs after I got rid of the vacation gain. Today I start c1d1.

Tammy, sorry to hear you are having surgery tomorrow. I pray all goes well. Soon you will be back to your norm though. No time to worry about how you eat but make sure you are nourished in order to have a quick recovery.

Missed you all, sorry, I haven't read all of the postings since I've been gone. Hope you are all doing well on the 17dd and I look forward to hearing how you all are doing.

Have a great Sunday. I turned on PBS this morning and have been enjoying the All Boys English Choir. Lovely music. Such talent and such a young age!

Tammy - thinking of you and hope the surgery goes well.

LN - sounds like you are living life and staying healthy! Woo Hoo to you and keep inspring!

June - hope you enjoyed your vacation!

I know I have been MIA. I tried to do WW to meet people in our new city of DC. It didn't work for me as we had to move neighborhoods to be closer to our jobs. We are very active here though and that is fantastic. Bought

Dsum - Welcome! Happy to have you join in here with us.

Lin - Thanks for your kind thoughts. I appreciate that. I will do the same for your DH on Tuesday. I am to be at the hospital for 6 am and have a 7:30 OR time. Will be so happy when this is behind me. I must admit that I am looking forward to having a week of doing nothing once I get home from the hospital. I have a friend who will be here with me for the first day or so. Then I expect to be fine on my own. Of course my DS will be here with me. It is just that he is limited physically due to his cerebral palsy.

I hope to check in here again tomorrow. Have a great Sunday all!

Hi
I am new to this team, but not new to SparkPeople. Nice to meet you! I have been on this particular diet for about 12 days, down about 5 pounds since starting. Doesn't seem like much, but the scale hasn't budged all summer despite watching calories and walking daily, so I am pretty happy about it. I only had one screw up day but I seem to be back on track. Tomorrow I will be going to a birthday party, so fingers crossed. Have a nice weekend!

Hi Ladies,
Haven't checked in lately, cause there is nothing to really say. My weight is doing its, up 1/2, down 1, up and down. I weigh pretty much the same as I did in April. I guess I shouldn't complain since I am only a few pounds away from my goal.
My meals are so compliant...it's the afternoon snacking and...yes...that good old happy hour that does me in. Today has been good so far and planning on salmon tonight. Even worked out at the "Y" today.
Tammy-Will keep you in my thoughts, for Monday. My hubby gets his cornea surgery on Tuesday.
June-Totally enjoy your vacation. Looks like we won't be able to get away until our usual trip to the smokey mountains in October. And that is if the cornea surgery goes as planned.

June - Woo hoo for vacation!!!! Have fun and enjoy! You sure deserve it. Thanks for your good wishes for my surgery. I am so ready for it to get done.

I am on track today but still not feeling my best. I hope to take it easy most of the day. Much to do tomorrow, getting things in order before my surgery.

Hoping everyone is doing well!

Tammy, I am officially on vacation, I may or may not check in. I am sure I will gain some weight this weekend, staying in a hotel and there will be drinking and dining out.

Its hard to eat healthy when you aren't feeling well, hope you feel better soon. Wishing you speedy recovery from your surgery if I don't talk to you before then!

June - Yes, the plan is for the surgery to be laparoscopic. I am told it does make for a much easier recovery. Over 20 years ago I had back surgery (a laminectomy) done the old-fashioned incision way. I did ok with that recovery too but of course I was much younger then!

I am so happy to be back on track today. I have a lot to accomplish and am well on my way checking off things on today's "to do" list. So that's it from here for now.

Hope everyone is doing ok. I do miss hearing from everyone!

Tammy, I did about the same as you did today, not on track but didn't stray too far.

Are they doing a laparoscopic surgery? I know its not the same surgery but I had my appendix taken out that way and recovery was fast and not much pain as long as I didn't do any sudden movements.

Where is everyone else? Maybe enjoying the summer?

June :)

June - You sure are busy and most deserving of some time off!!! No wonder you are tired all the time. It sounds like you never have a day off. That is not good! I hope you can rest and rejuvenate on your 9 days off. Your plans sound great. I love to spend time with family. And wow.... a group of 20 sounds super. Enjoy!

I was not completely back on track today but again, did not stray very far. I think tomorrow will be fully compliant again. I feel a lot of self-imposed pressure this week to get things "in order" prior to my surgery which is one week from today. I want to be able to come home from the hospital and just relax for at least a few days. So that means stepping things up here this week.

Everyone - Let's make this a wonderful week!

Tammy, I have 2 jobs, the one i was talking about the other day is a waitress job. I work there 2 days a week. The other is a manager of a restaurant, sort of like a diner. I work there the other 5 days of the week. I usually work about 55-60 hours a week. I am tired all the time. This is probably why I struggle to lose the weight. When I first started this diet I only worked 5 days a week for the first 4 months of the diet.
My vacation starts Thursday, 9 days off, going out of town Thurs-Sun with family, staying at a casino. I think there is about 20 of us going. I have no plans the rest of the week. Maybe clean out my basement, lounge by a pool somewhere, who knows.

Sorry you had to cancel your trip but I know you didn't want to postpone your surgery either, at least you were able to find yourself a replacement.

I did ok today, not perfect. The scale will tell me tomorrow.

p.s. I plan on enjoying my vacation and will probably put some weight back on.

June :)

Happy August Everyone!

Another month with 31 days.....how many will be compliant for us???

June - You work so hard....ouch...I'd fall over if I had to stand as long as you do at work. What do you do? You mentioned tips.....are you a waitress? In any case....being on your feet that long sure burns a lot of calories... Are you going away for your vacation or having a "staycation" which is also popular these days? Our vacation was planned for the week of Aug. 10 but we had to cancel out because Aug. 10 is the day of my surgery. Luckily we were able to get our money back (it was a prepaid trip with one of the organizations we belong to....a mom and pop sort of trip....so no trip insurance or anything...but someone else was interested in going so these folks are taking our spot and that's how we get our $ back).

I am on track today and feeling great. I am trying to see how much weight I can lose before my surgery...10 days away...so I have a lot of motivation, but also have that retirement party to attend tomorrow....hope I'm up to the challenge!

I had an ok day.. not sure how to place it. I got up and had a fiber bar. Worked 10.5 hours on my feet with 5 minutes of sitting down. I had 1/2 cup of soup, some grapes, mashed potatoes and chicken strips and 2 drinks. Not a lot of calories but not great choices. The great thing is, I made bank on tips today woop woop. Tomorrow is a new day, gotta be good for the next 5 days because i'll be on vacation and I know I won't behave.

Tammy, glad you had a great day, makes it easier to have a great day the next day and so on.

Kitty, congrats on the 8lb weight loss, any loss is a good loss.

June :)

June and Lin - We all have those non-compliant days. You will get back on track....You know what to do....We move on with a smile.

Kitty - Happy to see you are doing so well. I think the green tea really helps. I was never a tea drinker before this diet. Now I love the green tea.

I had another good day. It was easy for me to stay on track today, not sure why but I'll take it. No food challenges on my horizon tomorrow. Sunday is another story...going to a retirement dinner for a friend at a local country club where there will be oodles of food I am sure.

Let's make this a great weekend everyone!

On track. C1 D3. Eight pounds down already?? Probably mostly water weight. Not a lot different from my usual diet except for the addition of green tea (x3), more fruit (besides apples) and all the probiotic stuff.

Had another cheat meal and I had 4 beers last night but I am ok with that. It's that time of the month for me so i won't know what my weight really is for a few days.

Stay strong everyone!

Another quiet day here on this thread. I hope all is well with everyone.

I had a wonderfully compliant day and plan the same for tomorrow.

Just a quick check in tonight from me. Had a friend visit for the day. I made lunch for us so was able to control the menu...way better than going out to a restaurant where the sodium content always does me in.

June - The extra calories might just be what you needed. Years ago when I went to Weight Watchers if we hit plateaus I remember the leader telling us to up our calories for a day or two. So there might be something to it.

I am on track today but all stressed out due to a call from my gyn's office. There is a glitch with my pre admission testing, a "borderline" EKG but no change from the previous one. What? After the previous one 2 years ago I had a D & C and no issues surrounding the EKG. Now, I must see my family doctor in order to be cleared for the hysterectomy scheduled for Aug. 10. My family doctor will see me this Friday, but she is so ultra conservative that I doubt that she will clear me without additional testing. I had a nuclear stress test 4 years ago after a mildly abnormal EKG and I did just fine with the stress test at that time. I just pray she clears me for the Aug 10 surgery. I am very stressed out over all of this. Sorry, just had to vent.

Tammy, I hear you on the old habits, it's why I gain weight back. It's hard to change 20+ yes of bad habits in a few years especially when you have to eat food to survive. Way different than quitting smoking.

I had a planned cheat meal today. Mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and roast beef. . My weight has stalled a bit and I'm hoping the extra calories will help.

June :)

Happy to report that I am back on track today after some poor choices yesterday. I feel so much better when I am on track, but I guess old habits remain lurking in the background. I have moved on and am doing well today.

June - The web address worked just fine. Thanks for sharing. The recipe looks great. The chicken salsa recipe is a good one too. There might be something similar on one of the recipe threads for this team as well. I think I'll be making it again soon. I don't do facebook, but the facebook group for the diet interests me.

Not sure if I can put in a web address, gonna try. I found this today and want to make it. Garlic bread sticks made with cauliflower. http://www.anediblemosaic.com/cauliflower-
crust-garlic-breadsticks/

I am a member of a facebook 17 day diet group. Someone posted a recipe for chicken, looked good so I made it, turned out great. Take some chicken breast and put in a crock put on low for 6 hours with a jar of salsa, then shred it. I made chicken taco salads with it, yummy. I actually made this twice, 2nd time I drained the juice from the chicken at hour 5 and then added the salsa. I also used a hand mixer to shred the chicken, worked great.

Lin, sounds like a tasty breakfast to me and dinner sounds delicious too!

Chris, maintaining is better than gaining emoticon

Tammy, still on track, just a few minor cheats but nothing to throw me off. I worked 60 hours this week (in 2 different restaurants), just haven't had time to post.

My ticker now shows my weight as of this morning. Glad to be back in the 170's but I should have never gotten to the 180's to begin with. I also changed my ticker goal to 171, I always seem to fall off right before I hit that number, once I hit it i'll make a 2 or 3 lb goal again.

In 5 months at Christmas I plan on being at my goal, or one of my goals I should say. I would like to be at 161 by then and that gives me plenty of time with lots of cheat days here and there.

Lin - No, not just you my friend.... I strayed today big time....Sundays are tough for me because my routine is different with church, etc. I will be back on track tomorrow and Tuesday. A friend invited me to lunch on Wednesday....not sure where we will go yet but any time I am in a restaurant it presents a challenge. But I love this friend and would not say no to this invitation.

Thank goodness tomorrow is Monday. I need it after straying today!

Ha...I thought the reason it was so quiet here because everyone was stuffing their faces. Oh....? Just me? Gotta get back on track real soon. I'm eating like I'm a skinny person without worrying about what I eat.
I started today with my favorite breakfast...Sautéed red bell pepper, spinach and egg whites and a big juicy orange. We bought some really nice steaks the other day and planning on grilling those tonight. But will stick to veggies with it and save at least half for a breakfast during the week. I can do this!

Lin – I agree with June…a little pizza now and then won’t hurt much, if at all. Sometimes a deviation like is what we need. Woo hoo on the green tea. I am loving it every day.

June – Woo Hoo on the 6 pounds, but I can’t say I am surprised. I knew you could do it!!! Keep on that roll. And way to go if you are going to “cheat.” I’d say that was a healthy cheat. My philosophy has always been if a little deviation keeps me on track in the long run, then it is not all that bad.

Chris – Thanks for your prayers. I actually wish I had had a hysterectomy way before this as I suffered with very heavy periods (but actually not too much pain) due to fibroids all thru my adult life. It was worst in my 40s before menopause. My mother had a hysterectomy at age 48 for the same reason. I thought since I made it to menopause I was “home free,” so to speak.

I’m half way through another compliant day and feeling good again. I am thawing out striped sea bass for dinner, given to me by my fisherman friend at church. The weather here in eastern PA is absolutely perfect….low humidity, sunshine, 79 degrees. I grocery shopped yesterday after my tests so we are well stocked with good food. I had some fresh strawberries with my Live Active cottage cheese for breakfast, while my son had his strawberries with waffles. And I wasn’t even tempted. Oh, how I hope this momentum of compliance keeps up for me.

emoticon Let’s gear up for a great weekend! emoticon
