I get a kick out of the people who say "Oh so, you're still on that thing eh?, How's it working for you?" then the best is...."What happens when you go off it?".

Well, that is something I don't know, I don't go off it. And my numbers are showing it. Maybe I am not losing as fast as some of you are, but I am losing it at a nice slow pace and that is the key to keeping weight off....that and of course the obvious....don't put junk in your body lol.

Love this diet, will stay on it as long as the Lord allows me to.

It looks like we have all had the same experience when researching this diet... I've even had people try to discourage me from staying on it (after they've failed (see Gabby's reasons below hehehe)). The bottom line is that it's not a "diet" - it's a lifestyle change - and those of us who have committed to making that change have had real success and I'm so proud of each and every member of this team!

I was so incensed that I wrote a whole blog about all those "reviewers" back in May. You might find it a little interesting:

Thank you girls!!! I join the team recently, and got the book today, so I will be reading it before reading anything else. I really appreciate your comments.

There's nothing wrong with using the word "diet". It comes from the Greek word "diaita", meaning way of life. So to lose weight and keep it off we need to change our way of life.

The atkins comparison drives me insane. I was afraid to try this diet at the start because of the comparisons. I felt so crappy on atkins when I did it years ago. This one is totally different, and I've never felt better.

I hope people stumble on to this thread that are looking for info.

Yep - I have to say that I have been very disappointed in all I have read. But for a few places (here included!) it is getting a very bad rap. Then you get people who are on Atkins calling out 17DD for being too much like Atkins - I've done both and this is what I like and works for me. I know that part of it is because it's such a new diet - eventually there'll be more message boards and positive reviews but it is rather bizarre to have only 2 main places (Drs website and Spark) where we can get accurate info - even the 17DD website is lacking (Although I'm sure they'll change that as time goes on)

I hear you Terri. One thing that I like about me is I have no expectations when I don't do things correctly. I think deep down people do not want to take responsibility for their actions. LOL you reply was so true and humorous!!!

no - it is not just you.

I get really frustrated by the reviews, etc. That's why I am constantly harping on people to read the book. READ THE BOOK. Geez. It is so simple. It's not like diet books are difficult to read. Heck, I have a ton of them on my bookshelf. It's not "War & Peace" people! (well...maybe it is emoticon )

We see a lot of those people pop up here too...newbies who see this as a fad, or a carb-free plan, or *insert your words* diet. Then, they fail or cheat or whatever and then whine because it doesn't work for them. They didn't lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks.

ARGH!

Thankfully - most of us here are "in the know" and recognize that we have to adhere to the diet and read the book to find the success we need. We are a wonderful group of 17DD-educated people and are losing together!

Yay Us!

I have no idea, I am just glad I saw this on the Drs. one day in the winter and decided that it was the diet for me and I couldn't wait to get the book. So glad I did. I love this diet and I love this group.

I know! If I had relied on the information I got on the internet when I was reseaching the 17DD, I never would have tried it. I read about having to eat less than 1,200 calories a day and having to buy food from a website. I wonder what diet they were really talking about?!

I love it when I read in reviews about having to buy branded items (I can only assume they're referring to the cookies). The only thing I've had to buy for this diet is healthy food. And that's something I should have been doing all along. I guess they don't realize you are the one to make the cookie.

I read one review, the guy outright admitted to not reading the book, and he just lambasted it. I got down to the comments section, and so many people called him out on not reading the book and pointed out the greatness of the diet. It was refreshing.

I also like, again, from people that don't bother to read it, that this is a 17 day diet. Period. No research, no reading, they assume it's a quick fix hoax.

Whatever. We know what it's about. And we're all rocking it :)

There are people/companies etc that their sole purpose is to dispel ANYTHING that they can.
To keep people ignorant. That is why it is important to read for yourself. When I first became interested I checked the book out from the library. Then once it was due I purchased my own copy. The second thing was I saw some blogs from different people on SP and felt like these are real people and they were my friends from other teams so that is what helped me. They do the same thing to the natural health communities. Those who seek will find! Have a superduper day!!!

Every now and then, I google The 17 Day Diet plan just to see what all is being said about it out there in cyberworld. What kills me is how WRONG so many of the reports are! I know they may not have time to read the book, but you'd think they could at least get right what they do report! So far this morning, I've read it's a low-carb fad diet, that you get to eat a cookie every morning, and it was strongly implied that there's a lot of food weighing and calorie counting involved. All this was written up BY REPORTERS. Geez!!

Julie
