Yesterday, because my sleep patterns are out of sync from the holidays, I snacked late into the evening and went way over my calorie limit. The thing I am proud of is that, except for a few candies, I chose healthy foods.

Doing 1000 steps is a real accomplishment! And the walk with your grandson sounds wonderful :)
On New Year's Eve I overindulged on homemade goodies; however, I matched them with raw fruit and veggies (with no dip - I don't like it) and kept the drink calories low, so am proud of that part of things.

Happy New Year to all! emoticon emoticon emoticon

That is something to be proud of, Ribknit. I got out of the house and walked to the Post Office with my three year old grandson. We didn't walk fast and we had to take several rest stops for him, but it got me out of the house and out in the fresh air. I went out on another walk by myself for my cardio later in the day. I got in my 10,000 steps yesterday, so I am happy with that. Deb

You're doing really well Deb, especially with the crunches and lunges! emoticon

As for myself, I went to a restaurant for a birthday celebration on Friday, and had some rich (but wonderful quality) food, which put me over my calorie limit. In my defense, I did save some to take home for another day. I had given myself permission ahead of time to enjoy the food in moderation, and reduced my intake earlier in the day.
Yesterday I went on my boyfriend's treadmill for 25 minutes, so I'm pretty proud of that.

Good job with the calorie ranges, Ribknit! I've been doing really well too, despite the fact that I got an espresso maker for Christmas. All that milk and the trimmings can really add up. I am continuing to do the exercise of the day. I will get in my lunges and crunches today too. Hope you have a great day!! emoticon Deb

I love the pedometer. It works great! It clips to my belt or my pants. I had a wonderful Christmas and I surprised myself by staying within my calorie range despite the great food. The peanut butter fudge just didn't look that great this year. I am back to doing my exercise of the day. Today it is runner's lunges. I have a hard time with certain lunges, so it will be slow going with a chair for extra support, but I will get them done. emoticon Deb

How do you like the pedometer Deb? Do you carry it in your pocket or what? Have fun walking!

Yesterday I indulged as planned (yum!) but also fit in a short walk thanks to parking my car some distance from the family get-together I attended.

I'm allowing for eating over my limit today too, and am ok with it. I will try and get a short walk in if I can, but it's ok if I don't.
Yesterday I actually stayed below my calorie limit - go figure. Just one of those days when I didn't feel the need to overindulge, which is a treat in itself.

I am doing yesterday's exercise of the day and today's exercise of the day to catch up to myself. I am taking tomorrow off and having whatever I want to have throughout the day. And thank you for the encouragement.

Yesterday was a celebratory day for me and some friends. I overindulged in Chinese takeout and homemade Christmas treats, so my calorie count was sky-high. I didn't go for a walk, either.

So what can I find to be proud of? How about eating carrots instead of nuts and candy while watching a movie? Yep, I'll go with that.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it!

Hi!!! DOM is delayed onset muscle soreness. I am sore from doing all the exercises. I will double up today on the two that I was going to do yesterday, then I can double up for the exercise of the day today and tomorrow as well. Strength training is fun and doing the exercise of the day has given me something constructive to look forward to every day. I am toning up and working one or two areas of the body every day, so that is a good thing. A 27 minute walk is fabulous! I know that you have been increasing your walking time every time you check in, so kudos to you. emoticon I have been wondering where everyone else is too. I hope that everyone is just busy with Christmas and someone will check in during the New Year. At any rate, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Deb

You're right Deb, today is always a new day - in fact, sometimes I start a new day in the middle of one (if that makes sense to anybody but me). You are really doing great with sticking to exercising, and calories too! Especially considering it's the holiday season emoticon
Yesterday I took a break from wrapping gifts and went for a 27 minute walk (odd number, but I had to get to the bathroom lol).
P.S.- what is DOM?

One positive thing is all you need to make your day a success Ribknit! I passed up doing the exercise of the day yesterday because I am too sore to do it properly. I will do it later today if I can get past the DOM. I may take two days off from strength training. I did do my lunges and stability ball crunches today though. It is possible to catch up on the exercise of the day today if I do both yesterday's belly toning video and today's lunges with weights. That will be my exercise for the day. I have been staying within my calorie range, but I haven't been eating the best of foods. Today is a new day!! emoticon Deb

Yesterday I had way too many white chocolate covered pretzels before bed, which I am not proud of. However, I am proud that I passed up ice cream treats after supper when out visiting. Overall it was a poor day food and exercise wise, but it's encouraging to find at least one positive thing!

Great job with the water and the treadmill, Ribknit! I have finished with the exercise of the day today. It was triceps lifts. I also did my crunches and lunges for the morning as well. I am hoping to do some Christmas baking today. Baking, not tasting. I can't do too much since we don't have that much freezer space. I am making brownies with creme de menthe baking chips on top of them. I am making some Christmas sugar cookies and gingerbread men too. Have a great day!! emoticon Deb

I walked outside between rain showers. Today I have done my crunches and lunges for the morning. I am on to one of the exercises of the day, Standing Abduction with Band. I think it was yesterday's exercise of the day, since today is one done on a gym machine. I can't do that one, so it's a good thing that I skipped a day to rest my muscles. Congratulations on getting in your adequate rest and changing up your routine. I am more of a lark and am usually up by 5:00 am every morning, but this morning I slept in. I'm up that early because that is when my daughter gets up to get ready for school and I take over the baby. She's on Christmas break right now. emoticon emoticon Deb

Ribknit, thank you for the kind words. I try to carry through with my plan. I really want to lose the last 10 or 15 pounds that I have to get to goal weight by the end of January 2013. Today is leg toning on the stability ball. It's a 7 minute video. I am just now getting ready to complete that. I did do my crunches and my lunges earlier this morning. Good job on passing up the goodies last night. That would be a major accomplishment for me. emoticon emoticon Deb

Thanks Deb! I am having more happy times and fewer down times, so it can and does happen with time and patience (not my favourite word, but important).
It motivates me too that you're on here and share how you're doing. Because you commit and carry through what you plan, my hat's off to you. And who cares if you're great at them - you're doing the exercises and that's no small effort, especially when you're feeling low. emoticon

I almost forgot - last night some friends put out a bunch of treats and I restrained myself from eating too much. It helped that I'd eaten some protein with supper beforehand.

I've decided that I have to ramp up my exercise in order to get out of the slump I've been in both psychologically and physically. It's why I have committed to the exercise of the day every day. I have already done my morning crunches and lunges plus some stretching. Now I am getting ready for the dumb bell flys on the ball that is the exercise of the day today. I may not be the best at every exercise of the day, but I give them my best shot.
Ribknit, it is excellent that you got out of your comfort zone and went to the party. How great that you had such a good time!! I'm glad that you are feeling mostly happy. I strive to reach happy most days myself. You are a great motivator and friend. I appreciate you. emoticon emoticon Deb

Good stuff Deb! emoticon I

I'm happy to report that yesterday I walked one mile, which I haven't done for ages. I had to go alone and drive to the track in freezing cold but I did it!

I am getting sore, so I have to ease up on some of the exercises of the day until my muscles heal. I am doing them faithfully every day, until today that is. I have done my crunches and lunges for the morning, but I am taking a day off to let the rest of my body re cooperate. I will do the eight minute abs workout on the stability ball tomorrow. I have been doing a lot with the ball lately. I hope to feel and see results in time. Have a great rest of the week everyone! Take care and God bless, emoticon Deb

Thank you Grandefille :)
Guess what? I stayed under my calorie limit on Saturday and Sunday both!
