I've organised 3 sets of meals for tonight and tomorrow as well as snacks for a few people on my table at the dance social tonight. Also I have taken a bag of paper, glass and cans to the recycle bins at the school at the end of the road

I cleaned my office at work. I'm changing offices after the new year, so I'm trying to have everything in order for my replacement. I just hope the woman I'm changing places with is doing the same for me.

I cleaned the bathrooms and laundered all the towels and then organised a pamper package for myself at one of the beauty schools next week - facial, mini pedi and a bit of wax and tinting - I've managed to drop the couple of kgs that crept up beyond my current ticker numbers :( and it took so much hard work and focus that I think I deserve the pampering before the final dance party of the year.

I decided to participate in the goals at the bottom of the team page. It's amazing how fast I could find 25 things when I started counting the pieces of paper that needed to be put away instead of remaining on top of my desk!

NWGARDENGIRL - My MIL has a large amount of 'stuff' stuffed in all sorts of places, including an old house trailer in the backyard. My husband is the executor of the will. I do not look forward to dealing with that house if she dies before I do! Decluttering is a gift we give to those we leave behind.

Peace,
Karen

Eye opener.
My mom use to be the absolute tidiest housekeeper when we didn't have much. Then somewhere in the last 20 years that changed. I think that because she'd grown up poor, once she started to aquire things, she just couldn't let anything go. After she passed we had to look for paperwork, bills, keys, photos. Oh My. We will be doing the complete cleanout in the spring, when the snow melts away. But it made me come home and want to touch everything in my house and throw away everything that I have not used in a year. So tonight I'm making a list of every cabinet, set of drawers, closet, etc. Room by room, I will go through my house again. I don't want my kids to have to go through that someday.

Laundry done, kitchen clean, vegetable soup simmering on stove, moved about 20 items out of Hubby's broken closet, did animal chores, walked dogs, called work and doctors office to follow up on medical leave. Still feeling okay, hope I do not pay for this burst of energy tomorrow. Taking it easy rest of day. Oh that is not true. Going to make turkey gravy and turkey croquets for hubby for dinner. I will let you know if they turn out good.

Today I wrote a plan for my chores. I did some work today; dishes, swept, cleaned the counter. Later I plan to do the dinner dishes, vacuum, clean stove top, and mop. I might even put up a door.

Lol, Cathy. I am going to put the carcass in the crockpot in the morning before work. I seem to be running out of energy.

I did accomplish a lot today and it was a fitting ending for a vacation. I'm freshly scrubbed and relaxing a bit before bed.

I did laundry, ate dinner and picked up two baskets that I accidently knocked over. Am proud that I went through the stuff and got rid of some.

Have a great evening.

Simmering turkey bones, cleaned kitchen, walked dogs, and rested. I think I will tackle living room tomorrow, if I feel better. I would like to clear the work/classroom stuff out of there. I need to make decisions about what to save for the grandkids and what to pass on to other classrooms. My goal is to eliminate one box.

Fantastic! I open mine and think that they need to be done at the first opportunity.

I went to work and set up for Monday, exercised, did two loads of laundry, unloaded the dishwasher, organized the left over soda, and took care of the last of the left overs from Thanksgiving.

Spent a wonderful day with family members. We ate the leftovers. It was so nice to have the house company ready again before they arrived.

Will run the dishwasher again tomorrow. Right now I'm just going to enjoy a few moments of quiet after an extraordinary day.

Stepson, daughter-in-law and her mother went home today. The sister-in-law and nephew will go tomorrow. Guess it is nice to have them leave in stages rather than all at once.

The house will actually be as good or better than it was. Amazing. I LOVE Flylady's techniques!

Looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Ran the dishwasher twice last night and got the food put away. Reorganized the silverware drawer.

This morning I got up, made the bed and made a quick run through the house tidying things up. Wiped down the kitchen and swept the floors because there was a good amount of "fallout" from having people in.

Then I replenished the beverages so that when out of town guests come back today I'd be ready to provide hospitality.

I am ready to enjoy a quiet hour or so of knitting and reading now.

Have a great Friday.

Thanks, I have been running on an adrenaline high all day and I have been too cold, but that seems to actually keep me from crashing so quickly.

Got the grocery shopping done, opened the Church, cooked meatloaf, garlic cheese bread, dressing and gravy. The meatloaf and bread were a hit. the dressing and gravy pretty much ignored. I don't think I will worry about them next year.

Son's fried turkey was out of this world, but he thought he overcooked it because the skin was tough. The white and dark meat were mouthwateringly moist, so no complaints here. We did not move tables, and the kids helped set up and clean up, so I did about half the work I used to. I used to mop the floors before and afterwards, vacuum and move tables all around.

It is so nice to see family together and to get that annual photo.

Sounds like you did a day's work for ANYONE, Cathy.

I picked up living room, kitchen and utility room yesterday. Did the cooking that could be done early. The house looks great. Just one room to dust.

Looking forward to relatives arriving soon.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Wrapped water pipes, colored hair, cleaned kitchen and bathroom, packed for Thanksgiving, cooked for Thanksgiving, broke ice for sheep, fed the raccoons, walked dogs in snow, knitted and I think I am going to crash. I hope I did not overdo it for Thanksgiving. I have a lot to do in the morning too. Luckily, Son is cooking turkey this year, but I have to open the church and get it ready. We usually have about 20 people, mix of family and friends. I also, need to do more grocery shopping.

Yesterday I finished up at work until after the weekend. After work I completed my holiday shopping list. Then it was off to five stores to pick up all the holiday delicacies!

I love picking up several surprise nibbles every year. This year it is fresh coconut and dill pickles, lol! I also found some canned tea with the brand name of "Peace Tea." I think that will be fun too.

Today I'm going to bake pies, peel potatoes, do the final dusting and preparations for my family. They will arrive tomorrow. My step-son, daughter-in-law, nephew, sister-in-law and Mom will be here. My DH, Father, and Brother have all passed on.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I've just had yet another bonfire of confidential papers, took away the paper glass and cans to recycle bins and took the plastics to the municipal depot

I've organised a collection for Christmas for the Maintenance man at our gym to thank him for going beyond the normal duties to keep our Aqua pool operating warm and clean again this year- but I managed to get someone else to do the chore. I don't want any of the ladies saying I'm too pushy which happened last year.

I was going to make a personal thank you but now I'm delighted that they are getting on with it themselves :)

The two coffee meetings were successful - pity it was only one-on-one each day but better that than a bunch of people who didn't really want to be there!

The computer in my office blew up last Wednesday, so this ended up being the perfect week to clean out my emailbox, files, note addins, non-standard software, and all that good stuff. . . with screenprints. I also decided on a more formal back up schedule for things like my customized toolbars in Word - that took longer to recreate than it took the IT guys to rebuild my system!

(Good news - they were able to rescue all my work files - I'm only missing the specialized info that's unique to my work or my personal configuration. Go IT guys!)

No regrets, just lessons learned . . .

I had a sweater make it to State Fair when I was about 13. I knitted one blanket and a lot of scarves, some hats and slippers in the last 40+ years.

I mostly worked and went to college and raised kids. Then in September, I got really sick with vertigo and flu symptoms that did not go away. I happened upon the online prayer shawl ministry and felt compelled to knit a prayer shawl for step-daughter for Christmas. I prayed my way through that shawl and listened to the Rosary while knitting it. (She was baptized Catholic.) Discovered I loved the Rosary and felt so much peace with the knitting.

Then I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue (immune dysfunction)Syndrome and BPPV type vertigo. I have not been to work since. Trying to get on long term disability insurance. Run through my Roth IRA already. So I decided I needed to knit everyone's Christmas presents. Right now I am knitting hats, scarves and slippers, because they are fast. I really am not following any pattern. I look at patterns, get an idea and start knitting. Pretty soon I know who the object is for and start praying too. It is therapy. Since it appears that I am probably facing an early retirement, I need an inexpensive hobby that is good for the soul. After the holidays, I will start tackling more difficult projects and actually try following a pattern.

Take a picture of your sweater and post it.

Glad you got the mattress moved. Now you have a dining room for Thanksgiving.

PS: I can hear the snow plow on the highway. We usually don't get snow until January.

Sounds as if you are getting your organization done a step at a time.

Nice to meet a fellow knitter. How many gifts have you made for this year? Are you a lifelong knitter?

I've knit since junior high school. I've done intarsia and mitered squares. Now knitting is a relaxation and meditation activity. I'm working on a garger stitch sweater that is knit from one cuff to the other in once piece!

Today I asked a friend to come to my house and help me move that mattress and box spring to storage. The room it was in looks great. I wanted to do more but was completely exhausted.

You have done a wonderful job with your weight too.

Today, we got all the closing paperwork done on the refinance. It is in the mail. Kitchen and laundry room are still clean. I made my bed and cleaned off the top of another TV tray. Why am I avoiding that dresser? I almost have another hat knit.

I have felt pretty good today.

You are on a roll. I thought you were the young bride. I went to check your Spark Page to find out you are the MIL and that you have your beautifully remodeled bedroom posted. You have a lot to be proud of. I can't wait to see more pictures of your new office in the works. You did more in one day than Hubby and I can get done in a week, but we just have to keep persevering. I made it to Church, visited kids and grandkids, grocery shopped and cooked a nice meal for Hubby today and finished another pair of slippers for Christmas. Still on top of laundry and kitchen. Hope to get to that dresser tomorrow.

Oh my goodness! I'm on a roll! I took the pots of artificial summer plants off the porch and put them in the garage. I've made two trips upstairs putting things away and cleared the top of a dresser in my "bedroom in exhile."

I'm starting to get tired so now I rest 20 minutes or so and work for 5 or 10. I need to be ready to have someone come in to help me carry the mattress and box spring out of that room.

I am going to set it up as a dining room for Thanksgiving Day. After the holiday I will continue to work on the room and convert it into my new home office.

I've been organizing since last April. Finally I'm reaping fruit! Woohoo!

Just have to post again. It is a beautiful day so I worked outdoors. My car was a mess so I emptied it out. Then, I cut away all the frosted vegetation from my goldfish pond. Next, I skimmed the leaves out of the bottom. Finally, I disconnected the above ground filter and cleaned all the parts for the winter and stored them away for the winter.

In the house I carried out three 30 gallon bags of clothing to send to Good Will Industries. I also assembled a new and larger kennel for my dog. I loaded up the old one for Good Will. I took the trash out to my garbage can and carried a couple odd shaped things out to my car.

I took the whole load to Good Will and donated it. I dropped the trash into a dumpster at work and stopped off at my mom's apartment to take her trash out.

My house really feels much lighter now. I have three boxes of things to put away after my break and then I'm going to pick up my bedroom in exile this evening. I need someone to help me carry a mattress and box spring to my storage space tonight or tomorrow. Will give that some thought shortly.

Happy Sunday!

I put out several hotspots in my living room, decluttered the kitchen and made room for a new dishwasher that was delivered today. Then I washed the dishes that had stacked up while the old one was broken!

I purged and put away my Tshirts, capris and sweaters, put shoes away and dusted the bedroom. The house is really coming together for Thanksgiving.

Organised a chiropractor appointment for this afternoon, a double-time visit by garden squad later this week and 3 loads of laundry, and another language student from Sunday for a month's accommodation and hosting.

I have cleared papers out of filing cabinet drawer and reorganised files - need to have another bonfire since much of the paperwork is identifiable for DS DD2 and late DH1 and 2, as well as my own

A quietly productive day today - and it's only 2p.m.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! Had a nice dinner with Mom and a good nap.

I really rocked with the organization today! At work I finished a project and organized everything for tomorrow before I left.

After work I renewed my driver's license, ordered a specialty turkey for Thanksgiving and attended a birthday party in just over an hour!

At home I emptied a dresser and two bathroom drawers in preparation for organizing and purging my "folding" clothing. I am excited about finally tackling this project.

I wrote four thank you notes for birthday, showered and washed hair, did a load of washing, changed bed and hung up some suncatchers. I am eating a late dinner and winding down for bed! Woohoo!

I went through all my daughters clothes and shoes yesterday, getting rid of things she doesn't use or that don't fit any longer.... Ahhhhhh.

Hope you have a better today for your birthday, LQUEST and a happy year too

I cleaned three bathrooms and did 3 loads of laundry. Looks like I'll be getting a second student /houseguest this weekend for three weeks - that's going to help pay for the extra dance lessons I have booked :))

Started out strong and then fizzled. Picking up in my bedroom in exile and clearing out the remains of my "hoard." Feeling a bit empty inside. Need to get some things done so will try sorting out some clothing. Maybe it is a bit of a let down with birthday tomorrow. Perhaps next year will be the best ever!

Having a quiet rest day other than gym, watching Rugby with friend/neighbour/client on TV, and dancing again tonight but I did clean the swimming pool filters and adjusted the chemicals, and sort out a couple of files

.well today I spent a lot of time in the yard.
I should sleep well tonight Our first snowstorm of the season is due here tomorrow. I worked for hours taking care of lawn furniture, covering tender perennials, making room in the garage to store the wooden lawn chairs, moved the mower to the back and the snowblower to the front of the garage and then I went to the gym...I did good!

I cleaned up a corner of the yard, raking leaves and pruning plants and bushes.

Emptied plastic drawers and one dresser. Put all of knitting supplies into plastic drawers. The colors are prettier.

Moved the cpap supplies, cosmetics, shoe cleaning products etc. into the dresser. I have one empty drawer to fill with some thing that is currently in a box.

Almost have the Goodwill box full. I decided to quit sweating a timeline on that one.

I moved a small table upstairs for the computer and printer, so I can put away the TV trays. I don't need them cluttering up the place.

I am cleaning the kitchen. I am taking things out of every cabinet and drawer, whiping eveything down, getting rid of stuff and putting back only what I need. I am almost done and expect to finish tonight. It was amazing how much out of date stuff I had in the pantry and how clean and empty it looks. So when I go to the store next, I have room for only the healthy stuff!

A Fixed Deposit account matured so I have investigated best rates and alternatives and made the necessary arrangements on-line which scores additional interest rates here in SA

Finished organising my wardrobes into lengths as well as colours :) Looking good! If only I could get rid of the crates of stored items for DD2 but they are taking up less space since I have reorganised everything

Am in the middle of reorganising my wardrobes - done the lingerie, sox and stockings, knitteds - putting shirts and Tshirts into lengths (they are already in colours) and then pants and skirts, then jackets and coats. Still looking for space
