Hi everybody!

Well, it's been a heck of a week, huh? I really haven't been here much so am just, again, catching up on things. Boy a lot happens over a few days.

Dawn - not a soapbox, unfortunately these people are becoming more frequent in our world. And, because our country is what it is, we will continue to be subjected to them because otherwise we will be giving up the rights of the many for the lawlessness of the few. Bites.

Rebecca - I disagree with you wholeheartedly. Our first responders were following where it led. They put their lives on the line as is evident by one officer dead, another in the hospital with serious injuries. It's easy to sit on the sidelines and run commentary or be a Monday morning quarterback. Nuff said.

Someone in my neighborhood is out there setting off M-80's or fireworks or something. They should be arrested and let to sit in jail the rest of the weekend with some ridiculously high bail so he/she does not repeat such stupidity. Humpf....

Well, I'm exhausted from the 3 hour drive back from CT earlier today and want to just sit and read a book, turn off all links to the outside world and unplug for a while.
Night all.
Cathy

Sue...How strange that they make you prepurchase things in order to get the sale price, but you can't take the items home until Wednesday? I found a great dress at Macy's the other day on the sale rack. It looked great on, and it was only $24, but I really didn't have a need for it so I didn't get it. I may regret that.

We took my mother shopping for clothes today. That made for a long day. I got to try on 2 things for myself. Macy's was having a pre-sale event. You got 25% off if you prepurchased. Have to go back on Wednesday (or after) to pick up. Of course, the goal is buy more, which is fine since I didn't get to look around much.

Vigil tonight for the MIT officer. How sad.

Well if we are all going to talk about it... they locked down 6 towns yesterday and they invaded people's homes going door to door looking for him. They thought he was in someone's basement at one point etc... then when they finally do find him in the boat, thanks to the resident who called the PD and TOLD them (not thanks to any searching they did on their own) the boat is outside the lockdown area. Those residents were free to come and go all day and he was RIGHT THERE..... so I'm sorry, but um, all you heroes.. you missed. You only got him because someone went out into her yard and found the evidence herself. That lockdown stuff may have been for nothing.

And um... what about suspect #3? They tracked a car to CT and found it empty, and then promptly stopped following that story. WTF is up with that? I think suspect #3 is going to be "oh we were wrong about him," but really he could still be out there.

Okay... now off of MY soapbox, thank you Dawn.

My day is mundane. Going grocery shopping alone, and maybe for a walk or something.

Old Sturbridge Village for tomorrow.

Hey all,

My daughter said there were more arrests in New Bedford related to the case, which doesn't surprise me at all. Apparently this kid and his brother went back to Russia for a short stint and came back all militant Muslim. I'm sure we'll find out more as time goes on. The first guy's wife grew up a normal American, met this guy and goes back to mommy and daddy with a kid in tow and wearing a hijab!!!! Her mom and dad are a Dr. and a nurse that live in RI. It's just unreal. But, as I said last night to someone, I hope that this is a RARE event and not the new normal. These little weirdo, radicals are really becoming a problem and I don't care what religion they try to hide behind, their real religion is HATE.

Ok, off the soap box Dawn, down girl, down. Sorry. I'm just still really angry. All I could think when I was watching the news last night was that I'm very glad that I am not the nurse that has to take care of him b/c it would be too hard for me. I keep seeing the faces of all the people who were killed or hurt and lost limbs and I just don't think I could care with any compassion at all for this kid. I also hope that, if he needed a transfusion, that he didn't get any of the blood that the runners donated after the bombing. That would be a very sick irony. The mean girl in me wants to say to this kid, "well, you aren't American enough so we're going to transfuse you with some REAL American blood and see if that'll help you".

Sorry, I really am. But, I'm still angry. Can't tell can you?

In other news, there's not much going on here in the Hughes household today. It's raining. I will be on the treadmill for sure today. I walked my son's dog yesterday and she wore me out. I slept a solid 8 hrs without waking up.

I hope you all enjoy the day. Maybe the sun will peak out for a bit.

Dawn

Morning and a great big HAPPY SATURDAY!!!!!!!!

SO HAPPY they caught the 2nd guy! What a relieve and hopefully now they will get some answers as to WHY!

I got the best message from Laura on the phone last night and it's all over facebook

If you're gonna use a boat to escape, make sure it's in water not Watertown!!! 'Got you *sshole'!

I hope the people of this tragedy can now try to begin the healing process for all the pain and suffering these 2 BOYS did.

Rain is finally starting to clear up here in Dedham and I'm heading out to run some errands.

Have a good day all.

Morning

First of all - if this idiot DID post on russian fb (and it' all over regular facebook) then he can be tracked. For people that caused so much tragedy they don't seem very bright. I pray they can catch him really fast before he hurts anyone else. That MIT officer was only 26! OMG it just makes me sick.

Diane - please stay safe!

Laura - good move on not letting him go to work.

My cousin works at Boston Medical and she walked to work this morning - I want to slap her so hard - she's in the billing area and should never have gone in. It's all just so scary. I have a bunch of family members on my dad's side that live in Watertown. I don't talk to them that often but praying for their safety.

All is ok here. In my real world - I just sent the official sign off for the biggie and it's done. I have an 11:00 call to do a final review. Just cancelled remaining calls for the day and am out of here at 1:00!

Have a good day everyone - PLEASE STAY SAFE

Maryanne

We have the police scanner on. The suspect is going to kill the cops for his brother. He is posting on the Internet. My don found his Russian FB page

Fox 25 is on the scene. They think he has explosive devices. Of course he does.

I have been following this all night since 1 am when the WBZ radio announcer read about it saying he was not authorized to read the news but all the news people had "fled the building" since they were so close to Watertown. The TV coverage is amazing and frightening at the same time and CNN is on delay to avoid any gruesome sites. It feels like we are watching a movie set - the brother's uncle in Maryland says they deserve to be dead. I am west of the city but I can hear the helicopters and I know people in the city who are also pretty freaked out. Prayers and hope for an end without more loss of life. My best to everyone so we get through this together.

At least a half dozen communities are on lock down this morning. I can't help it. I feel like this is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!

I know many don't agree with me and I am forcing myself to "unplug" from FB and other places because I am so angry.

I feel badly for all the doctors and nurses and other people who are probably stuck at work, working extra hours because their replacements can not get to work to relieve them. They have probably been working all night and want to go home to sleep and now they are stuck. So sorry for them. I'm thinking Dawn's coworkers, and Sue and her coworkers and some others are affected by this mess.

Maryanne- Are you okay?

Laura- You and Collie stay home. Good call.

I have been praying and praying they get this guy alive!!!

Please everyone stay safe!!!

Hi everyone!

I have been very remiss in keeping up and in trying to read everything my mind is whizzing around. So, I'm going to have to start over here and now.

Nice to meet the new folks - whether you were just gone and back or brand new...you're all new to me. And it's a pleasure!

I will be better at keeping up. Right now, however, I have to get things together for a conference on Saturday - going to Southington, CT right from work (actually leaving early, which never happens) and got myself a hotel room all to myself for overnight. It's an all day affair on Saturday for the AMT - American Medical Technologists, the organization that credentialed me - and the CT/MA/RI region. My first time, looking forward to it and have lots to do.

So, have a fabulous Friday and be happy! God knows we would all use some happiness this week.

Hey all,

Maryanne, I hope you are able to get all of these projects up and running and completed right on time....without all the stress. AND, I hope you get to go clothes shopping too. I haven't been in a very long time either. When you spend half of your life in scrubs you don't really need to go shopping very much.

Amy, I am stunned that there could be any question at all at this point of suitability of Angel's current situation. Incredible. I think your plan is solid and we'll just back it up with prayer.
I didn't have surgery. I was septic with strep b and found out after I got home that I have Lyme disease too. So a nice twofer. I'm not sure that the doxycycline ever really took care of the Lyme last year. So, I have been home on IV antibiotics since the 2nd of the month and have another week and a half of antibiotics to go. The drsg change is for the midline catheter I have for my antibiotics. That has to be changed once a week.

Rebecca, I hope you don't have to have too much more therapy for your elbow. It can be so tiring trying to keep all of these appointments.

Amy, how did that go for you down there in WV? You were trying to do chemo and take care of your dad's stuff too. Exactly what was it that your sisters were looking for and why don't they have any respect for his wishes? That must have been really stressful for you. So, how are you going to manage your own care when you move down there? Do you have an oncologist that you can transfer to? What about working again or is that on the way back burner for now? So many questions. Sorry. It just seems like there's so much you have on your plate right now and then to have to deal with the custody stuff too. Overwhelming.

Well, I am going to get these antibiotics in and go take care of my son's dog. I think I will be glad when I don't have to go over there every single day to let her out. It's not like they live right up the street. I tried to sit outside with her yesterday but, she jumped on me every time I sat down. She weighs 75lbs!!! I don't need any other injuries right now thank you. So, I went in the house and left her outside. It was frustrating b/c I wanted to be out in the sun and fresh air. Maybe she'll do better today. We'll see.

Enjoy the day all.

Morning all, looks like another good weather day.

Got out for a 3 mile walk this morning so that will help set the stage for a GOOD day. We are still cleaning up final issues and getting sign off from our partner systems. Really hoping to get most of it wrapped up today so I can escape early tomorrow. Tonight I'm going to my friends to help her continue packing up her house. She's hoping she can get into the new place on the 1st so she needs to get a lot done this weekend.

Amy - Good GOD she's just like a reoccuring nightmare. I think your plan is wise - just end it all and take the full custody. Bad for his health - OMG has she NO shame at all??? She's the one that was toxic. Fingers crossed that you do not get a call!

Rebecca - good luck with the elbow. I think the Spark Rally is a great idea........I'm in as long as it's not the weekend of June 15th (I'll be out of town). Any other time is fine with me.

Laura - and them not showing surprises us all how???

Janine - I'm dying to buy new clothes and my cousin and I have set aside the 3rd weekend in June to go to Wrentham Outlets. So I have from now till then to make a dent in this weight and get back to where I was.

Ok, lots to do today. Finish cleaning up this project as well as kicking off two new ones.

Have a great day all.

Maryanne

Hi Amy.

I have an appointment with my elbow doctor at 12:30pm today, and an appointment with the therapist on Monday morning. My last couple of appointments have been with the physical therapist assistant. So I guess between the appt today and the appt on Monday I'll get some idea of how I am doing. Right now I don't have any appts past next week. I need to keep April 29-May 6th clear of appointments because I'll be single-parenting and then on my own vacation. I am guessing I'll probably have to have more appointments after I come back. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, but I think that is what they will tell me.

On another note, I think we should have a Spark Rally in May or June, before Amy leaves town for good. I know everyone's schedules get busy. Mine certainly does! I haven't been to a rally yet, but I think it needs to happen.

Happy Thursday everyone.
I am still catching up on the postings.

Dawn did you have surgery?? You mentioned a dressing change.

Laura, we should compare notes on dysfunctional sisters. We had a blow out while I was in WV, over the care of my dad. 3 of my sisters only think of THEMSELVES and want to make decisions for my dad's care without his thoughts being part of it. He finally gave them a piece of his mind!!! Now he appreciates those of us who want his care to be what he wants.

Maryanne, your co workers were so close. Glad no one was hurt.

Janine, the guy could not wait for my return. Angel has school break this week so it is great for us all to be home my first week back.

Rebecca, how is your PT going??

Diane, how is your mother doing? I thought of you many times when I was taking care of my dad.

HELLO to all the new members I do not know YET. Glad you joined our great team.

I had several doctors appointments this week. Oncologist on Tuesday who ordered a full CT scan of the body to see if I am all clear. The CT scan is on the 29th. He said if I do NOT hear from him before my follow up appointment my scan is good, IF he calls me then something showed up. I told him I HOPE he does not call me!!
The endocrinologist appointment was yesterday. Still can not get my Thyroid level where it needs to be so adjusting my meds again. I have to have an ultrasound of my thyroid area because there is a lymph node that they are worried about. IF that is ok then I can schedule my Radioactive Iodine treatment.

AND more excitement!!! Angel's mother is taking us back to court because she is fighting us moving to WV, she states she is worried about his HEALTH!!! Now if that is not funnY!! The woman who caused such stress in his life is worried about his health. We have contracted a lawyer and are going for FULL CUSTODY and CHILD SUPPORT!!!! Then it will be OVER FOR GOOD!!!

God is GOOD!! I have FAITH and his GUIDANCE is holding me strong through all of this!!!

Evening/morning all. Just arrived in Phoenix - 2am EDT. Lots of marathon jackets in Logan today.

Crazy news day, up and downs. I will be grateful and impressed if they solve this fast.

Heard about the "last mile" run. I won't be back in time, but love it! Fear can't break us.

Strange reaction- seeing Sweet Caroline played at Yankee Stadium brought tears. Reminds you how we are one when the chips are down.

Just gotta do it...over and over.

Helped my Dad gets his downstairs windows washed and curtains cleaned - seems his washing machine died! He will look for a new one soon he said

I am sure you will NOT be surprised that my sister has decided NOT to visit my Dad tomorrow since the president will be in town - yes he will BUT NOT IN SOUTHIE - anyhow he took it in stride - I told him we would go to Panera bread for lunch and I need to get something faxed to the hospital for medical records for him - Colie has tried a few times at work BUT has had no success

Also planted some peonies in my flower beds today then went with a client to her new condo to assess the kitchen - looks like she will bring her entire kitchen over and then I will organize it - lovely condo with an awesome kitchen!!

As for the news media I was so intent on seeing the conference I did not get a walk in with Colie but that is OK too

Glad the Bruins are playing and Ross is taking me Friday night to the game - NO BAGS allowed

Sue! You are sure busy with all that exercising! Good for you.

I got out and did some shopping today. I say I am not going to buy new clothes as I keep losing weight, but I need to have things that fit me. I got some great deals on pants and shorts. Now to just get a few new shoes for the nicer weather and I will be all set.

Marianne...great job on getting that project all set! And I couldn't live without a tv either. I don't watch it often, but it seems like it is on when we are home and I have listen, especially to the news. There are a few shows I do like though.

Afternoon all,

Well the media is once again having a field day. They made an arrest, oh they didn't, oh they did.............. The Boston Police have come right out and said NO, they did not arrest anyone. Now there was a bomb threat made to the Federal Courthouse. People are all gathered there thinking they are bringing in the suspect that they don't have. OMG This is just insane.

As for me - DRUM ROLL PLEASE.......................We just sent the note to sign off for all of our testing on the 2nd big project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I'm not done yet but my team is done the testing we had to do. There are two outstanding questions to deal with and I have to get sign off from a few people for the testing they are doing. But the bulk of the work is done and we're down to the clean up.......... WHAT A RELIEF! Both of these projects were horrible. Now I can finally breathe and look to the upcoming weeks where I will be overseeing about 8+ projects (all small). So won't be difficult, just will take a lot of juggling to get things up and running on each of them.

Gorgeous day out there. Did manage to get out for a walk this morning before work. It was very nice. May take another one after my 4:00 call - we'll see.

Sue - What a wonderful thing you are doing! TWO runs in one day. Good Luck to you.

As for my non-tv owners - I don't watch a lot of it but I would never consider going without one.

Ok, I need to dial into my call and end this day!

Have a fabulous night all. Hug your loved ones!

Mornin' all,

Rebecca, I don't have a TV either. We haven't owned one for 30+ yrs. It's just our choice. We watch what we want to watch on the computer or we rent DVDs but, just don't want to be hooked to the TV all of the time. My son, the one that's married, has a TV but they never watch it. It's tucked off in a back room of their house. We're all readers at my house. My middle child is less of a reader than the rest of us and likes to watch sports on TV so, he spends a lot of time at his girl friend's house watching.

Maryanne, it's sooooo nice to hear that you had a half way decent day. Hooray!!! Seriously, that relentless stress is just too much.

I did have a nice time at lunch with my friends. It was just good to see everyone. The ones that are still at work were telling me how horrible it has been. There have been nights where they have been close to tears b/c they just couldn't keep up. It drained me just listening to it b/c I KNOW I can't handle that right now and I'm hoping I'll be able to handle it in a couple of weeks. We'll see. I was wiped out by the time I got home. Just staggering.

Sue, that's a lot of running for one day. Good cause though.

Laura, it's nice having clean, shiney windows isn't it? Clever of you to threaten your dad with having your sister move in if he gets hurts. I had to grin when I read that.

Well, I should get going here. I'm trying to keep myself moving. Will get on the treadmill later. I did some sit ups with the 10 lb weight vest on the incline board the other night and my stomach muscles are screaming at me. That's good b/c I haven't been able to find an abd workout that really could make my stomach muscles sore. This seems to be the ticket for now. I might try that again and make my stomach scream some more. I just can't do anything heavy with the arms right now.

I hope you all enjoy the day and are able to get out in the sunshine. Praying for ALL of the victims and people affected by this last terrible bombing. I'm praying they catch who ever is responsible very soon.

There is a group looking to run the last mile, Kenmore to Copley, this Saturday. I don't think permissions have yet been secured.

My husband and I will be running it, if it happens.

The marathon isn't over when THEY say it is. It's over when WE say it is.

Going to work for an hour. Then meeting a running group at 9:30 and doing a Run for Boston for a half hour. Then go back to work and then meeting some friends at 5:30 to do another Run For Boston then the gym for cardio. It will be a long day but looking forward to it. Have a great day everyone.

We get the newspaper delivered to our house. The carrier leaves it on my windshield during the week. I took the papers and brought them to work and put them in the recycling bin. Didn't even let them go in the house.

Laura and Maryanne- I am sorry that you knew people affected by it. I guess I am lucky to be able to begin to detach from it all. I haven't even been to Boston in so long.

Maryanne- We killed our tv a few years ago when the technician told us we'd have to cut down our neighbor's tree (which would never happen) in order to get the satellite signal. Then we got internet (also satellite based) instead. I am very happy with the switch. I use the internet a lot more than I ever watched tv. It would be nice to have tv again I admit, but until we have better service options then we will live without it, and without the big bill that goes with it. I am old enough to remember when tv was free (pre-cable), but where I live now cable isn't even an option and the satellite service isn't great (obviously).

I am glad the news has died down some tonight. I find it difficult to watch the feed constantly.

Busy day for me today. Didn't make it to the gym like I wanted to, but got in 3 meetings. So much for a vacation day. lol Tomorrow I hope to hit the roads and find something to do for fun.

Evening all,

Jespah - nice to hear from you!

Things went well today at work (for a change). Sent the sign off for one project so that is done! The nasty project is the testing of 6 different administrative systems. We signed off 3 of them today and if all goes well tonight we will sign off 2 more tomorrow and the last on Thursday. I also have to get sign off from all the various systems that are doing testing. There are 11 of those and got my first 3 today so hopefully those will start rolling in. ALMOST THERE! If all goes well I may take a 1/2 day on Friday - we'll see.

On the 'sad news bombing' front. I received an email from my old high school. Turns out a 1988 graduate (clearly not my class) is the mother of the 8 year old boy that died. His 7 year old sister lost her leg (I believe) and the mother is critical with brain injuries. They are still not sure of the extent but it's not good. So sad - The school is going to set up something and let us all know so we can do whatever we can for the family. I just can't even begin to imagine how that father is dealing with all of this.

Laura - Good job on all that cleaning.........I just read about those two brothers - so incredibly sad I'm at a loss for words on it.

My office opened today (1 block away) but I guess just about everyone opted to work from home.

Rebecca - I personally can't imagine not having a tv but boy oh boy, if there was ever a time to not, this is it. That's good that you can keep the exposure to a minimum for Abby.

Dawn - hope you enjoyed your lunch with the girls - I'm sure it was a wonderful time.

Ok, I'm logging off. Work day starts at 7:00 tomorrow and I'm really hoping it will be a GOOD call to start the day.

Onwards and upwards everyone.

Hugs to you all!

Maryanne

thanks Dawn - i have a splitting headache - not sure if it is from all the sore arm/neck muscles from the cleaning yesterday - laundry etc or the wind against my face - wind was pretty strong
The inner bay here was all churned up and splashing over our small sea wall or even an ocular migraine coming on

On a nice note I must say the house is sparkly shiny windows and china - new curtains look AWESOME up too

Tried to convince my Dad to let me do at least SOME of his windows - he has the same as me but nothing doing - I told him if he did it without me and hurt himself my sister would be moving in with him and BOY DID THAT CHANGE HIS MIND

Oh Laura,

So sorry. This is hitting you harder than the rest of us b/c you are in the thick of it. It helps to have some distance from all of it. To have your familiar stomping grounds turned into a war zone is a little emotionally daunting. The horror of seeing such a traditionally family event turned into a nightmare like that is way more than we are able to wrap our heads around. It's heartbreaking to think of the lives lost and the rest of them forever changed the way they are.

Hang in there honey. It gets better day by day. This will definitely be a different race next year. Not better or worse just different.

Many hugs to you,

Dawn

Well on a good note yesterday I went wild cleaning. Did all the windows and then took the glass doors off my china cabinet and got them clean as well as all my china and little treasures washed etc

THEN I also did several loads of laundry and hung the towels on the line - I was so tired last night I just fell asleep in the chair

Tonight Colie and I did our walk and we had so much resistance from the wind it took us longer and I am exhausted from the walk - I told him next time we need to do an alternative route my jaw and neck are bothering me too

Forgot to mention Christina was at the Red Sox game and afterwards they were all at a bar in Kenmore Square - the police actually LOCKED them IN the bar so to speak until things were clear then they walked back out through the Fens section of Boston towards Roxbury to find a cab to get them home.

Evening all!

I am JUST exhausted and drained between the TV coverage - the inundation of phone calls to make sure we are alright and JUST THE MAGNITUDE of this cowardly act!

Colie's company did close down last night early but he walked part of the way and then got a bus. He did go to work today and said it was police everywhere, FBI and all that presence riding up and down their part of Boylston St. Crime scene stops about 2 blocks before his business - we figure where the bombs went off were about 5-6 blocks total and we walk there ALL the time when we walk to Fenway from his office. The news media are camped out about a block from his building.

Someone he works with had his friends have their legs blown off - the brothers who were together. Also a friend has someone that may not make it so it is praying and praying

My eating today has just been off - have not totally eaten well but not good either

Think it is going to take awhile for us to just wrap our minds and deal with it.

Laura

I am grateful that we don't have tv at home. At least my daughter's exposure to it will be minimized. However it is all over Facebook and the newspaper, and online news etc... so I am getting quite a dose.

I think they are saying this is terrorism Dawn. They just don't know if it is domestic or international.

Hubby just gave me an update- our coworkers never made it to the race. Thankful for that.

Hey all,

I think you are all correct in saying that the continuous coverage of this thing can't be good for anyone. But, I am sure, everyone is very anxious to find out WHO did this. They are being careful to not call it a terrorist act but, I can't see it any other way. I do hope that they have found all of the bombs. Last time I checked they had found 5 total. I worry about people getting on the trains and going into public buildings. My son, Rob, works at the Sovereign Bank on Brookline. I don't think they were affected at all other than being along the route itself.

I am glad that many of us have checked in and are ok. I feel terrible about the 8 y/o child that was killed. I just can't fathom this sort of hatred.

Going to lunch with my work friends. I can't wait to see everyone. They are the saving grace part of my job. They really are. I have the best group of co-workers I have ever had and we are all extremely close. For most of us, we are the reason we haven't left SSH.

Also have to go let my son's dog out at lunch time and have my midline dressing changed today. Just 2 more weeks of this. I'm feeling sooooo much better now and have increased my activities bit by bit each day. The swelling in my left hand is almost all gone and the left foot looks much better than it did.

The new fridge came yesterday. It is very nice and I can tell the difference in the temperature already. Still no ice from the ice machine yet but, I guess it takes awhile.

Maryanne, you'll get all of your projects done, I am sure of that. I wish it wasn't so stressful for you. I know what stress can do to a person.

You all take care. Please.

Morning all,

It's all just so sad and I agree Janine - stop with the continuous coverage and now let the FBI and Police go do their job and find this worthless scumbag. It's all just very tragic and a beautiful family event with so much history now scarred like this......

Other then that, nothing going on here. I could complain about the work and the stress but somehow, it doesn't seem to matter anymore. Signed off one project yesterday but never sent the note due to the numbness of the afternoon so will do that today. Trying to wrap up the big bad project by this Friday........ and life goes on.

Have a good day all.

Maryanne

I worry the onslaught of news coverage will act similar to that of 9/11 or some of the other tragedies of recent years. I worry about kids seeing this constant news feed about Boston, especially worrying about those who have family and friends there. It seems that is all there is on this morning. Don't get me wrong, I understand that this is newsworthy. I just worry about kids being subjected to it continuously.

Amy....how was the homecoming?

Well last one last night and first one this morning.

Thoughts still with Boston.

I have physical therapy at lunchtime today, and I'm working extra hours Tues-Friday this week while my daughter is at day camp. Lots of complaining from her about that this morning. I think we are both lucky that I am able to do this kind of thing.

Oh well..

I am still getting caught up. There are many Massachusetts Sparklers posting blogs about the marathon. Oh boy. :-(

I had not realized until just now that runners were among the injured, and now the death toll is up to 3 people. Just crazy.

I am so glad to hear that people have checked in and are okay. I have several friends who were there. Thankfully they are okay. I pray for all those that were affected, especially the family of the little 8 year old boy. So senseless.

Hey all,

I have a heavy heart right now. How can any one think it's ok to bomb innocent, unarmed people? What kind of message do they think they are getting across other than, "we are the biggest cowards ever created"? Seriously, this is a hateful act and God knows who did it and He will be the judge of it all in the end. They don't need to fear the here and now but, the judgment of God.

I hope and pray everyone is safe and home with their families. God help and strengthen those who have lost someone there and give strength to the responders and healthcare workers who have to deal with the fall out from this.

Amy, it's so very good to have you back and I'm distraught that you are leaving to go to WV but, I know your Dad and your family needs you. Of course, you will always be a part of Mass sparklers, whether you want to be or not. We need you here.

I'm signing off. There isn't anything else worthwhile to say here tonight.

Cathy, you said it best honey. God bless America. To all the bomb blowing sickoes, I'm blowing you a great big fat raspberry!!!!

We didn't get out of Old Sturbridge Village until 5:30pm. Stopped at the McD's across from the main gate and there was a tv in there with the news on. They just kept showing the footage over and over. I immediately called Sara Mae Berman's son & daughter in law. All are fine. Sara Mae had been in the stands but left before the explosions went off.

My next thought was of Sue, who has checked in here, and I am glad you are safe Sue.

Hubby and I have at least 2 co-workers who were running in the race. Sounds like the casualties were people in the stands though, so guessing they are probably okay. Hoping everyone's friends and loved ones are okay as well. I guess we will know more tomorrow when we go back to work.

We had a 3 day weekend, and as I said we had a full day at Old Sturbridge Village. It was a great day to be there, although very crowded. They were doing Patriots Day things and it was very educational.

Then of course we left and saw the news right away. We don't have tv at home so I guess I wouldn't have heard about it until I got online at home. Anyway, many thoughts and prayers to all of you in Boston and just everyone involved in the city and the marathon. So sad. :-(
