So sorry to hear about your husband's dad, Christie. Take care, and have a safe trip home.

I'm so sorry I won't be able to make it. My husband's father passed away on Friday, and we had to drive all the way to Texas...and I am typing this from the Hampton Inn. He has to take care of family business before we return, so it will be at least another week before I'm back in Cali.

Anyway...probably more info than any of you wanted, but I did want to let you all know that I wanted to be there. God had other plans, I guess...

Blessings,
Christie

My spark shirt is missing! So I will be wearing a baseball cap that says USA. I'm not sure about my attire. Trying to find something with pockets.

I'll be wearing my bright orange SparkPeople T-shirt and black shorts and I'll have my hair in a braid. My hubby (short and bald, LOL) will be with me, though he's not doing the race.

Can't wait to meet up with everyone! emoticon

I'll probably be wearing a hot pink tank and black bottoms. If it is cool, I'll be wearing a black windbreaker before the start. I'm short, ughh and my hair will be up in a pony tail. haha Don't know how else to describe myself.

The course sounds really nice, and I was hoping for a really strong time in the 5K. My dad reminded me that the air is thinner up there, so I may not be as great as I'd like.

I'm really excited! I used to love doing these types of events, and it's been so long. I used to be able to do 4-5 miles in my sleep, so I'm anxious to see how I do. A 5K is very do-able, I think, even though I've been away for a while. And you can't ask for a nicer location. I can't wait to meet up with everyone! emoticon

SilentPawz I am there all the way with you. We can all do this. I walk just about every day and 3.1 miles is so doable!

I'm thinking seriously of doing this. It would be great to meet up with other SparkPeople, plus some people from my work are going.

I used to power/racewalk all kinds of events, including full marathons. But then I had a bad knee injury back in 2002 and by the time it healed, I had lost my momentum. I haven't walked seriously in years, but I do all kinds of other exercises (elliptical, circuit training, etc.) and am probably in nearly as good of shape as I was back then. I think I could manage a 5K. :) If I do come, I'll bring my hubby--I'll let you know for sure in a day or so. :D

EDIT: OK, I'm registered! Hope I won't be sorry, LOL. emoticon

Anyone that would like to just walk the 2.5 mile walking trail around the lake may do that with me. I am not going in the 5K as I haven't been training and I will push myself too hard and get hurt. I am a macho sh*thead that way!!! LOL

So we can meet and walk at a nice pace around the lake and then go to the restaurant to visit.

I would really like to push for the 10K but that would be the longest I have ever done and Nina and I have not gotten much training in yet.

Hey Ms. Nina what do you think??

I'm thinking I'll do the 5k and go all-out hoping that my hill and speed training will pay off! :-)

For some reason, I can't seem to find the info on the main website. Do you know if this is just a run, or a run/walk?
