Sandy, I do agree with you about the snow in November. Unfortunately, I live in the mountain foothills and this year, have gotten enough snow so that it looks like January. At least I am thankful that I do not have to drive when the weather is bad as I am retired, and if it is really bad I can cancel appointments if I have any.

Today and tomorrow look to be fine weather wise and that is good since Farmington has a big Chester Greenwood celebration tomorrow. I am part of a big craft fair and always hope for good weather for it. If any one is curious about all the activities tomorrow, the chamber of commerce has a list of activities published which I am sure you could find by googling it.

Good morning friends,

I will try to get the December thread up tomorrow, if not tonight.

Here on the coast we have had mostly rain, so we are back down to bare ground. When the temps drop in the evening/early mornings, there can be some slippery spots from the moisture. I am thankful to have bare ground, as November is just too soon to start winter!

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the beauty of a fresh fallen snow, I just don't like having to drive to work in it!

So here we are at the end of November, I have managed to lose a couple of pounds. While it is not as much as I had hoped for, at least I am headed in the right direction!

I am trying to come up with a reasonable goal for December.

Well, time to head to work. Have a nice day.

We have had snow here, and it is still snowing intermittently. Am trying to decide when I am going to go out and do the parts of the driveway that I do after the rest of the driveway is plowed. I would rather do it just once rather than several times, but we do have quite a bit on the ground so may have to do it in stages anyway.

Today, as yesterday, it is raining. My roof is clear of snow and ice and that is a good thing. My new coat is just what I needed. Sunday watched my grandson play hockey in a semi - out door rink. What does that mean, well it had a roof and sides like a great plastic tent. Watched the whole game and then we went to the Old Port. Walking along with the family and looking at the lights was wonderful and still being warm.

It has been rather dreary here all day, but I guess we have a great mess coming tonight. I spent most of the day working on the table layout and other things related to the craft fair on Saturday.
I have a bit more to do before everything is in the order that I want it to be, but if tomorrow is as snowy as predicted, I will have plenty of time to work on it.

Good plan on the new coat. I love my down jackets which keeps me warm on most days.

Great plan for the dog. It made me smile. It rained most of the day here yesterday and today is another gray day. It is above freezing so I will wait to see the final weather. I bought a new coat good to 30 degrees below and I am thankful it is so warm. NOW, I am ready for whatever comes.

It is currently raining here, but my driveway looks like it could be really icy. I guess I am not going out unless I have to. The dog has a long leash so I can stay inside the shed while she goes out. Since she doesn't like to get wet, it doesn't take her long.

What changing weather we are having. Today it seems to be raining in Old Orchard Beach, but may be freezing somewhere. It will be snowing this week and still cold. Oh, well I will take what we get each day.

It feels a bit warmer today, and that is good. My electric snowblower arrived today and is put together. Now it probably won't snow for awhile. LOL

Hope you had a great holiday. I did with my family. As for my early gravy. I would try it again. It was ok. But worth trying again. I called for degllazing with wine which I did not due and I am sure it would have been better if you like that flavor.

Stay warm during this cold spell, 19 at 7am in OOB, ME.

By choice, I am spending Thanksgiving at home cooking a small turkey and whatever else I want with it. I could go to my daughter's in-laws in Portland or to my S-I-L's as well, but I just don't want to travel. Guess I like my own cooking the best.

Have a happy and thankful week, everyone.

Rachelle - I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers regarding your up-coming biopsy. No one needs this kind of stress at any time, but the holiday season is the worst time I am sure. Yes, I am very busy with the planning for the big craft fair on December 1. Any one who is able to join in the festivities on Chester Greenwood day, I am sure, will find something interesting to them.
I do not know your friend who lives on Fairbanks Road, but it is possible I know him by sight just not by name.

Wishing everyone the best as them begin their Thanksgiving preparation.

Itís a snowy Friday! First big snowfall of the season and schools here are closed. A good day to read a good book or begin some Christmas crafts. Sending positive thoughts to everyone. Perseverance is the key word lately! I am still playing a waiting game. Weíre in the final stages of finishing my motherís estate and are down to the disbursement plan. I have every expectation that my brothers will once again try to block progress. On an individual front, I had a level 2 cancer screening for a lump in my mouth. As with the level 1 screening, it came back positive, meaning there is something questionable that should be explored further. Next step is an appointment with an oral surgeon for a biopsy. Fingers crossed itís nothing more than a nuisance that needs to be removed. Not exactly how I wanted to begin the holiday season.

Looking forward to Thanksgiving at my daughterís house. I had no problem passing the baton. I will still make some traditional recipes-my MILís yeast rolls and pineapple salad and look forward to spending time with family.

Eileen- You must be busy with preparations for your Dec. craft fair. Did I mention that my dear friend, George Tucker, also lives in Farmington? He lives on the Fairbanks Rd.

Ortatk- Let me know how your gravy turns out. We still makes ours that day from the turkey drippings, but having a make ahead recipe sounds interesting.

Sandy , the craft sale did go well and had sales enough to make me happy and even got a couple of orders. I have one more to go.

We have already had snow in our area this week, with rain on top of it which made a horrible mess that immediately froze with the really cold temperature. My driveway is all ridges and clumps of ice. Hopefully this next storm will level things out. I am also hoping that maybe we will have a few warms days to thaw things, but that may just be wishful thinking.

Ortatk - I hope your gravy comes out well.

Preparations for Thanksgiving have slowed down. I found out my daughter-in-law wished to host it at her home. That will be so fun. As gravy is something we are both challenged with I started a new recipe for gravy than can be frozen. I have the stock and drippings done - now to combine for the heavenly elixir. Oh, I hope that it come out.

Love the fact that today has started out with sun. I have to take all my baskets and equipment to the place where I have a craft fair tomorrow, and if the weatherman is correct, I will have everything moved in before the weather gets bad. Tomorrow's is a small craft fair, but it is a nice one, and I love the fact that I am able to move things in tonight. I do not set up until tomorrow morning, but at least I won't be moving things in if it is raining.

Hope everyone has a productive day.

Another beautiful day, but a little cooler than yesterday. Spent most of the day cleaning my kitchen woodstove and shoveling ashes out of the furnace. Have spread the ashes on some of my raised beds.

Just adding my 2 cents....The weather yesterday was wonderful. After so much rain the sun was glorious. I am slowly getting my leaves under control. Actually they are my neighbors leaves, oaks, that blow into my yard after my maples are all picked up. It is good for me to make me go out and enjoy these great days.

Today will be sunny again and I will be out in this second beautiful day.

Rachelle - Unfortunately the only place I do craft fair any more is right here in Farmington, since I cannot leave my dog alone for the length of time traveling out of town added to the time I would have to be set up at a craft fair. As it is, I have a neighbor come in once during a local fair to take her outside. I am doing two more here in Farmington, One this coming weekend on Route 4 and 27 as you drive out of town heading toward Kingfield and Rangeley at the Fairbanks Neighborhood Association building. I will also do one on December 1 at the UMF student center. This is a really big craft fair and is held the same day as Chester Greenwood Day with it's parade and other activities. It might be something you grandchildren would enjoy.

I have loved today's weather, and after basket class was over, managed to get outside and pull the rest of my vegetable garden plants. I also got the tomato cages put away until next year. I feel like I have accomplished a lot just getting that done, and my rosemary plant moved inside. I even came up with a plan to tie it so the cat cannot push it off the upstairs windowsill. Hopefully she will not try to eat the plant.

Hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather today.

Good morning friends,
I havenít popped by in a while. Life has thrown some unexpected curve balls my way and Iíve been focusing on them. Right now, I am dealing with a health issue and waiting is the word of the day. Hopefully, there is nothing to be worried about, but for now, we wait.

On a positive note, I won my bid to serve on the Board for SAD #75. I started out unopposed, but then the incumbent changed her mind and decided to enter the race as a write in. My husband was so supportive. Since it was late in the process, he found materials to make some signs, saving money and time. After 40 years in education, I feel like I have been training for this new role my whole life. I am very excited about this new role. Iíve also decided to return to WW. When everything else is in turmoil, WW brings the regularity that I need. First meeting is tonight, so I am ready for a new beginning.

Sandy- I agree with tracking. Usually when things go awry, the tracking is the first thig to go. I love the fall, with its beacon of holidays to come. We had fun preparing for a Day of the Dead party on the 3rd. Like some of you, they lost power as well. Thankfully, they had a generator and were able to warm all of the delicious Mexican food. Thanksgiving is now a breeze, as my daughter has picked up the baton there, so now I am looking for ideas for Christmas gifts. Knitting is a favorite hobby, and this year I want to make a quilted wall hanging for my daughter.

Ortatk- Decluttering is on my list as well. Now that I am on the final stretch for my motherís estate, I have a few more boxes of things to take care of. My goal is to turn my spare room into a craft room.

Nan- I love the challenges we get for the Biggest Loser. The last one was a big motivator for me as well. Dec. 8 could definitely be a possibility. Feel free to PM me on Facebook (Rachelle Tome) or on Spark. It would be so cool to meet one of my Spark friends.

Eileen- Good luck with your craft fair. I wish I lived closer to Farmington. I would have attended. Where else are you showing?

I am very fortunate where I live as I don't loose my power very often. It did flicker a couple of times Saturday night but came right back on. I think someone has said that we are on the transmission line to the hospital that is only a few miles away, and for that reason we do not loose the power often--didn't even lose it during the ice storm several years ago when most of the state seemed to be out.

Happy sunny Sunday!

What a night on the coast. We were fortunate not to lose electric, but many did. I am so happy to see the sun! Not sure what I want to accomplish yet this afternoon.

I have been doing better tracking food. I will see how the rest of the month goes.

Enjoy your day!

Beautiful day here, but it is windy and cold. At least, we did not loose our power. Am going to have a restful day today, after doing the craft fair yesterday. My family came over to put the last load of firewood that I received into the shed. I do have more coming, but that should go in a little easier since most of it will go into the cellar.

Have a great Sunday,

I need to get on the wagon with the rest of you and start being more accountable as to what I am putting in my mouth. I also need to declutter as well. Of course, November will be busy for me since I am doing three craft fairs between November 3 and December 1. If anyone is in the Farmington area tomorrow the craft fair I am doing is at the UMF Student Center. It has around 70 craft tables displaying items so should be a good fair. I would love to see some of you there.

This November I will try to restart my losing. I spent the summer trying to maintain but that did not work. My work is up and some bad habits have raised their ugly heads.

My first goal is keeping track of my food. The second and equally important is to declutter my home.

Good morning team,

Welcome to November! While summer is past and autumn is closing in, there is still time to make noteworthy progress in November. No progress is too small to count. Remember, it is the small steps that get us to the next goal.

I have been making good progress with tracking my food. It seems to be an area that I can easily drift away from, because weight has been an issue most of my adult life. I tend to think that I know what I am eating. While that does have some truth to it, I find that tracking honestly helps me with portion sizes.

Do you have a hobby that you pick up in the fall, which helps to keep your hands busy instead of munching? I have picked up my knitting again.

What will you do to make November noteworthy for you?

Wishing you all a noteworthy month of November!

Sandy
