Well I'm reading a Grisham book that will be on the other string, but I downloaded a children's book that the graphics make it larger than the dictionary, so I want to shift it to my archives. That book is Max the Cat written by Pheonix & Wylde Fyre and illustrated by Wylde Fyre.

For last weekends posting I read A Match Made for Thanksgiving by Jackie Lau and Stephen's Thanksgiving Bride by Marcy Levy.

This weeks free reading includes The Bare Witch Project by Kim Wellington, Undercover Witch Academy : First Year by R Medhurst, After the Night by Sandra Mapie and A Love Beyond Vengence by Etta Foster.

I ordered a rubbery Kindle cover from Amazon with some other stuff to try to protect my Kindle from fall damage. $10 dollars and it makes some of the control button access and charging cable access a bit awkward, but hopefully it will help protect it. I ordered some new charging cables too.

I would think that books you purchased they should be able to confirm payment especially if you go through your records and and show payment through your cards. I used to remove my bank card info between purchases, but Amazon has made it harder. I would think they could trace what they sent to your account and what they sent somewhere else. You will probably need to get your card cancelled and reissued. Your bank or card company might be able to help trace the activity, so ask them.

Good luck and thanks for the warning. Talk to Amazon, you might not need to close it, but make sure your card info is removed so it can't be used anymore by the criminal party for Amazon OR for anything else. My bank acted quickly over the phone for me when I saw a problem in my account earlier this year and inactivated my card immediately and sent me a new one. I keep my Laptop and Kindle offline except when I am doing something I need to be online for. I know a number of other people who also do the same thing to help prevent problems.

This might have been better placed in the Coping with Problems category. It was started as a humor post, but we could put it to work for a purpose. If it is used for that, it can be anchored too.

So you know the joys of shifting books in and out of archives too. Isn't it fun?

hi...i haven't visited this team for a while. I just have to tell you something that horrified me. My Amazon account got compromised. I've been beset by a hacker/identity thief and he was helping himself to my credit card to order on Amazon. After trying several times to work out a solution with Amazon, to no avail, I decided to close my Amazon account. In the process of that, I found out that the close 800 books on my Kindle, must be surrendered back to AMAZON! !! WHAT?????? You mean to tell me that all the money (well over $1000) that I've invested in my library will be lost? You mean I didn't OWN those books? I think this is horrific and I don't really know if there is anything that can be done about it. And if I re-join Amazon at some point, I will not be able to recover those books.
Do any of you have any suggestions?

Do you ever keep books in archive instead of deleting? My older Kindle had about 500 in archive, my 8 has several thousand on my kindle list (their website). The Downloaded list shows the books currently downloaded, so it is much shorter than the All list. I only keep a fairly small group loaded, but the Kindle shows more and there are still more I can access easily to download on my Kindle. If you have a lot there are books you have downloaded, you will be able to access books not on your Kindle when you want them by requesting them from your Kindle Cloud archive unless you delete them at the site. This can really be nice if you will be traveling for a couple of weeks were you won't be able to download easily. Purchased books (not freebies) belong on the other anchored string. Some books downloaded free may have only been free for a short time. These of course would be on the listed on the other string by people who didn't get them when they were available as free offers. Fortunately there are always some free books available for those of us who have a budget deficiency.

My last reading list include The Parker Sisters Thrill of the Chase by Lorhainne Eckhard, Hardworking Cats by Lisa Kerber, Insulin Express by Oren Leiberman (interesting account), Chancing Hope by Lisa Slater, His Healing Touch by Amber Adams, and Autism Goes to School by Dr Sharon A Mitchell (a good fictional intro based on life and clinical experiences, but remember there can be many things seen in some patients not described in this e book).

I've had a bit less time to read it seems so my lists have been a bit shorter - but at least it is still there. I remember what it was like to be unable to read (vision and short term memory problems) and then having to do a lot of re-reading after my injury many years ago.

For this week add Lady of Desire by Darcy Burke and Hosed by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente.

It looks like the entry I was trying to set up last week got lost during server shut downs. The kindle update did something strange like trying to activate all of the oldest books (most of them were pulled out of the archive) and "loosing" the one I was reading and the couple I had set up to read. I will have to sort through read entries to see if I can pull together all the info. I already put it off a number of days since it won't be too easy. Here goes...

The Heart of Eve by K. P. Stafford, An Unexpected Valentine by Linda Goodnight,The Medicine Man by Sarah M Anderson, Stopping Time by W. J. May, When We Were Brave by Karla M. Jay.

It seems like there may have been a couple more short ones, but I don't see them on my kindle after the update. They should still be on the cloud anyway. My original entry I was working seemed a fair bit longer without the last two books added this week.

There are often large numbers of free holiday themed books that are available around each of the holidays. There are a lot of free Christmas offerings right before Christmas, which is why I am reading them after X-mas. I still have some more I haven't read yet, but I think maybe I'll read them next year in later Nov and Dec before the new freebee batch comes out. With a disability, free is pretty much what I can afford, and I might as well read (my list has lots of variety that was all free at the time of download. Some don't stay free and I'm afraid some of them were obviously not even reread and put through the authors first draft initial editing. The certainly were never proofread. A lot of early releases by good authors will often be free for at least a few days, so I have a number of books that are well done and didn't stay free.

You got your fill of Christmas stories. emoticon Good for you. Right now I'm into reading about witches. Why? I don't know but I like them. They are clean with no swear words which I like. I am now reading "The Witch Squad." Before this I read "Riddler's Edge." I really like that series.

Feel free to ask questions about anything I have listed. They were all free Kindle books through Amazon since I have to be so careful with money. Some are well written, (often early releases or older works if they are free), and some can need some major editing and get updated a number of times. Add in your own reading lists. There are starting to be numerous free fall and winter holiday season offerings.

My more recent reading has included Melting a Duke's Winter Heart by Abby Ayles, October Joy by Melanie Wilber, In God by Aphra Crescas,A Game of Chess with the Marquess by Patricia Haverton, I have Asperger's by Erin Clemens, Injury by Val Tobin, Dr Horatio and the six-toed cat by Virginia Smith and Bound Through the Ashes by Danelle Nelson.

I am now reading..."THE TO-HELL-AND-BACK CLUB" by Jill Hannah Anderson. Anyone who reads it will be sure to love it. It's about a woman in her early 40's who is a wife, mother and friend that goes through eventful experiences that will make you sad and also laugh along the way. I'm about 1/2 way through and enjoying it.

Plus it was either free or 99cents.

In a disability budget, free is really accessible, so yes I have lots too and some of the early releases may have problems and may get edited pretty soon (there are even some that look like they were never even re-read by the author before release) and some of the older books or books in series (including some cliffhangers) so reading the reviews can help making selections. Yes, I have several thousand accessible too for re-reading, recommending or even loaning locally My recent reading has included (I'm still doing some seasonal reading, but I read all sorts of things) August by Kit Morgan, Summer Fling by Sarah Madison, Bare Ass in Love by Sasha Burke, Summer Unplugged by Amy Sparling, That Eighteenth Summer by Raine O'Tierney, One Dream Only by Elodie Nowadazkij, Unfinished Business by Savannah Maris, After the Fire by Katherine Shay, Running in Heels; a fat girls story (Shown that way on the cover) by J. B. Thorne, Fires of Autumn by Kathryn La VeQue. Variety is good. I can read in assorted waiting rooms and when I don't sleep.

I'm trying to cut down on my book downloads of freebies. They are so tempting in my preferred area of mysteries. I also watch C-span book weekend nonfiction and actually pay $$ for books I can't resist. I do mostly get Kindles free samples 1st tho. I already have more than I can read unless life span increases to 120 years.

See my entries in interesting reading. Mine were from Amazon's Kindle offerings. The vast majority of items I read were free when I got them since I have very limited finances. Recent reading includes The Virgin Widow by JoAnna Marie, Building Fences by Violet Howe, The Great Wheelchair Escape by Don Crowell, Jr, Man Up Party Boy, Fated by A.S. Roberts, Filler Friend by Sara Jo, Taking a Risk by Lexy Timms, Realigned by Becca Seymour, I hate You, Remember Me by Jamie Knight, Faces by Diane Winger, PS I hate You by Winter Renshaw, Blind Mans's Bluff by Kay Lyons and Ethan the K9 Files by Dale Mayers. Check my listings in Interesting Reading. Many of them were free when I downloaded them. These are just recently read books minus a dud or or and some special interest non fiction topics.

New releases my also be offered for very short times free before they are given a price. Season changes, holidays and special events may also be times when there are are short term free offerings. An announcement recently showed up on my kindle offering seven titles, so I picked several that looked interesting and downloaded them while they were available.

If money is a problem, free ebooks can be a help. If you spot a new release or a special offering, you can get some that will soon have a price. You have to wade through some poorly edited texts and "cliff hangers" (most are labeled in the reader evaluations and often in the descriptions) where they want you to buy more of a split up book if you want more of the story. History and other non fiction and educational texts are also available. If you see a good one, post it and let others know where to find it.
