Your church Thanksgiving luncheon sounds great. I always overeat at those things because I want to try a little of everything. Doctors don’t have the the last word, do they? God does. That’s was a heart warming story about the baby. As far as the credit score, the ones that I’ve been on have a way to look at the details of what they have listed for you. Some of them allow you to correct any info that is error under your name.

emoticon Sorry I’ve not been on here the past couple of days.

Sunday my church had their Thanksgiving lunch. It was really good, and a lot of food. The church provided the turkey & ham, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, white & brown gravy, cranberry sauce & rolls. Everyone was supposed to bring a dessert. So when I say there was a LOT of food, I mean it. I made a cherry dump cake, and I was very surprised when I left to find entire baking dish empty! That was with about 30 other kinds of desserts on that table. So the next time that the church asks for desserts, I think I will bring that again. You can make different flavors of dump cake. Pumpkin, blueberry, strawberry, peach, apple, mincemeat, blackberry. Basically any kind of pie/cobbler that you can think of can be made into a dump cake. And it is really easy to make too. It takes longer to bake then it does to assemble & get ready to go into the oven.

Hay do any of you ladies know anything about your credit scores? I monitor mine and have found that every 4 months the score has decreased. I am NOT happy about this and cannot figure out why it is happening. I always pay my bills on time; have only 1 credit card—which I pay off every month. So I have no outstanding bills. Mine & my DH’s credit score was always in the mid to high 800’s. But now it is down in the high 600’s. I am not planning on buying anything on credit/time, but you never know what may happen and it will be necessary to do so. But even aside from that, it makes me feel (I don’t know; stupid or not worthy) for my credit score to be so low. Does that make any sense? I called the credit bureaus, but they charge more than $50.00 just to look at your history to find out why your credit score is reducing.

Today I had my piano lesson, after that I went & picked up my groceries from wal-mart. On the way home we picked up some lunch from Taco Bell. The high today was 70 degrees, but didn’t feel that warm because of a cold wind……a lot of folks would be complaining about it being to “cold”, but not me. I LIKE cool weather.

Two weeks ago a church members DIL was pregnant and put in the hospital (for the 2nd time) with high blood pressure. The doctor told her that they were going to have to take the baby by cesarean section right then. Because the continued high blood pressure could kill the baby. The baby was not due till the end of January, so it was delivered almost 13 weeks early. When the doctor delivered the baby, he found that the placenta had been dead for more than a month. In case you all didn’t know, the placenta is what feeds the baby. The doctor said that the baby SHOULD HAVE been stillborn. Said that there is no medical reason why the baby should have been alive. Anyone who would not admit that God was right in the middle of that, to me, is stupid!! The baby was only 2 pounds when it was delivered, but it is very healthy. All organs are fully developed and the baby is breathing on its own, eating, pooping & peeing with no help. The only reason why the little one is still in the hospital is because of its weight. The grandmother says that the doctor’s expect she will be home with her family by Christmas. Talk about a miracle and just in time for Christmas—no less.

OK girls, You all have a happy & blessed day.

My cat would pester me endlessly for food if she slept inside. Fortunately, she always wants to sleep in the garage. The only time I make her sleep in the house is in extremely hot or cold temps. But even then I have tp close her in downstairs, because she’s quite the nag. No matter what time you feed her, the next day, she wants it earlier. Lol she loves to eat! I have learned how to ignore her during the day, but that would be harder if she was in at night.

Starr,
Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner at your church. I had one a few days ago, but did not attend. Unfortunately, my IBS doesn't seem to like a lot of the Thanksgiving foods.
That sounds like quite a day when you attended the funeral. At least you were able to get a break to take care of the doggies. I see what you mean about the animals and their internal clocks. Last night I fed him at 8:00 and this morning he wanted to eat at 7:15 which is when he usually eats in the morning. I've been trying to get my daughter to do free feed, but she does not want her cat to get fat. He is in perfect shape according to the vet. It can be quite tiring, especially since I had trouble sleeping last night and did not fall asleep until 2 a.m. I am pretty sure the lack of sleep is due to my living circumstances. I just moved into my condo in August. I now have a large crack on my wall. My family thinks it is originating from the roof having a leak. If it is a leak it is covered by homeowners association, but being Winter I do not know how they can take care of it. It obviously has me quite concerned. I will be contacting them shortly to find out what to do.

Starr, that sounds like a very long day. That’s quite a long service too, and all the travel; no wonder everyone was tired. Enjoy your Thanksgiving lunch tomorrow, your cake sounds good. My family always tease me because I try stuff especially new recipes before I bring them to our gatherings.

emoticon you all,

Kay, I am glad that DH’s surgery went well. Hate it that the pain medication didn’t help at all and even made his sick. And then to add insult to injury, your insurance making you pay full price for that 2nd medication. It’s certainly NOT your husband’s fault that he could not handle that 1st medication. I am that way with medication, especially pain medication. All of the opioids make me majorly dizzy & sick to my stomach. I’m very glad that the new medication is helping with the pain and not making him sick.

Carol, we use to also have a dog that was super hyper and active. He was (I should say is as he now lives out in the country with my eldest DD) a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard herding dog. If he is not kept “busy” he will get into “trouble”. But he is very affectionate, gentle & attentive. And VERY protective of his family. I miss having him here at my house, but know that he is much happier living out in the country. I understand what you mean about your cat waking you up before the sun gets up. My cat does the same thing. She starts loudly meowing and jumping on my head about 6:15. She use to not do that till about 7:30…….but her internal “clock” tells her that it is time to eat, no matter what my clock says. LOL.

Pandabear, I hope that you, your precious fur-babies & family will have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you for the condolences for my DD with the loss of her MIL. I know that a lot of people are so busy now days with jobs & such. But her family didn’t even take 30 minutes, or so, to come to visit her every once in awhile…….or even just call her once or twice a week. How much time does it take to pick up the phone, dial a number & talk for 10 minutes? And to you own mother, of all people, you would think that people would care enough to at least call their parents every so often.

The day before yesterday was DD’s MIL’s funeral. It was a long day. The church where the funeral was held made the entire family an early lunch. Then we had the funeral, which was almost 2 hours long. She was buried in a city 45 minutes from where they had her funeral, with her husband who passed away 12 years ago. Then we were at the cemetery for another hour. From the cemetery DD & SIL had to go to another place so I stopped at their house on my way home to let their 3 dogs out to go pee/poop & get some exercise & fresh air. Played with them for a bit before I went home to let my babies out and plop with them for a bit. As soon as I sat down both my doggie fur babies were on my lap, and just a few minutes after that my cat, Tulsa came out of my bedroom and hopped on my shoulder. Tammy seemed to be as exhausted as I was, so we went to bed a lot earlier than usual. She was out like a light within 15 minutes of her head hitting the pillow.

One of the lenses came out of Tammy’s glasses when she hugged someone after the funeral, (I suspect that one of the screws was already loose and that is why the frame came undone so easily) so she & I went to the optometrist to get another screw in her frame & glasses ready to wear again. Also went to the bank to get a cashier’s check for my youngest grandson’s 13th birthday the end of this month. They live in Virginia. I so wish that they lived much closer. In 3 years we have seen them (son & 3 grandson’s) once. That was early this past summer. I also stopped at my cell phone company to get a tiny issue taken care of. I have something (here at home) that I need to get returned to Amazon, but I forgot it when I was out earlier. And UPS is right out there where my cell phone company is. So, I need to get that taken to UPS tomorrow. I hate it when I forget things then have to make a trip to where I was just at that day or the day before.

Tomorrow my church is having Thanksgiving lunch after church. I am taking a cherry dump cake. I just finished cooking it, as I won’t have time to do so tomorrow before church. The last time I made a dump cake, it didn’t turn out so good. But this one smells delectable. After it finished cooking, I took a small sample from a corner. It was YUMMY!

Alright all, I am out of here for today. You all have a blessed weekend.

Today was a much better day for DH, low pain & he got his rest, so he's up and doing more. I think he'll be back on track in no time now.

Gloomy & cloudy day, I think it's supposed to snow a little, but I don't know, it's seems too warm.

PANDABEAR42, your new puppy is adorable. I had a rescued dog years ago. She also had a lot of energy. She was part shepherd and part husky. To cut down on the destructive behavior we exercised her a lot. She loved playing ball, so that what we usually did with her. She ended up being a wonderful dog.

Kaye, sorry to hear about your husband's surgery. I know it must have been a pain picking up the 2nd pain meds, but I get why they do that now with the Opioid crisis.

Morning comes quickly when my daughter's cat wakes me up at 6:30. Every since the time change he has been waking me up early. She is a deeper sleeper, so I guess I am it now for feeding him.

Kay, sorry your hubby was having problems with meds. to bad you had to make a trip to get the prescription and insurance won't pay for the prescription, but it was worth it that you mae the trip so your hubby could have some relief from pain. hopefully Friday will be a good day for you and your hubby.

Sue, surgery went well, but pain meds didn’t. He had a reaction to the one they gave him for home., so he was up all night sick to his stomach and in a lot of pain because it wasn’t helping that. I had to call doctor and make the hour drive back up there, because they can’t call in opioids anymore, Then insurance wouldn’t pay because he had the other one filled yesterday for same reason because it’s an opioid, so we had to pay out of pocket. At least this one is working, so he is able to sleep and pain level is much lower. Quite a day.

Weather here has warmed back up to the 30’s so it’s much better than single digits.

Kay glad to hear your hubby's surgery went well. did he come home or is he in rehab? i can understand your house not being accommodating to walkers. i think there are plenty of houses that way. i honestly think my place isn't either. i ha to think and it would be hard. try and do the best you can and it will work out.
take care of your hubby and yourself.
we have had the cold weather also. Thurs. is to be a little warmer. it is warmer this evening than last night.

Starr, sorry for your DD’s loss, although her MIL had a wonderfully long life, it doesn’t make it any easier, I’m sure.

Sue, she sounds like she’s a quick learner. I’m glad you have her; she sounds so sweet.

It’s finally getting warmer here after starting at 5 degrees this morning; we’ve broken two records with these temps. My hubby had his laser surgery on his torn meniscus in his knee. It went very well, but he’s not going to be mobile for several days. Our house is not very accommodating for people with walkers.

Starr...so sorry for your DD daughters loss. it's hard to loose a loved one no matter what.

it is cold here today, but not as cold as you are. had a light dusting of snow last night and just light flurries off and on. going to be really cold tonight and Wed.

Thank you so much for your kind words on Tawni. she is a very happy little girl and growing fast and gaining weight. oh, she gives me so much joy and laughter already. she already knows sit, down, stay and many other things. she learns quickly. she has me trained on when she needs to go out to potty. she will either look at me or run through the house squeaking a squeaky toy. she is actually starting to lick my hand and arm. if you knew the whole story on Tawni you would really know i was to have her.

stay warm and safe everyone with this weather and if you live in a warm place enjoy your weather.

Good (cold) morning Ladies.

Pandabear, Tawni is so adorable. That is a sad story that she’s had so far. It is a miracle (I think) that she was rescued, both from the mine & the shelter. And it seems that you were meant to save her precious little life. I know that you have your arms full with her, but also know that she is going to make you very happy just like your Aussie does.

The day before yesterday, I was actually wearing a short sleeve shirt & shorts. Because the high temp was 78 degrees. Yesterday & today the high is below freezing. Last night it got down to only 8 degrees. There was freezing drizzle & light snow yesterday. I guess that winter has arrived.

The day before yesterday my eldlest DD’s mother in law passed away. She was 94 years old and had been in bad health for more then 10 years.

I have my piano lesson today, didn’t go last week as I had a migraine.

I hope that you all will have a good & warm day today.

Hugs,
Starr

Kay, Thank you. yes, Tawni keeps me busy as well as my 9 yr. old Aussie. she is a cutie though.

i don't think we will be getting much snow if any. the temps are going to be bitter cold for the next days. the weatherman says there could be some rain turning to ice on the roads in places by morning.

let me introduce you to my new rescue puppy "Tawni"
i have had her for 4 and 1/2 weeks now. she is 4 and 1/2 months old and scheduled to be spayed before Thanksgiving.

this is Tawni the evening we got home with her and she is on the porch.

this is Tawni and Panda my 9 year old Aussie on the porch after being introduced. (they are best friends)

Panda and Tawni sleeping together
Tawni's history is; she was abandoned in a mine in Kentucky, then taken to a shelter the kills them after a certain length of time if not adopted. i'm sure there are people canvasing these places for adoptable fur babies. Tawni and her 43 bothers were rescued and then flown to Pittsburgh Pa. then the 4 of them were give to a foster parent and she had them for 9 days and then i was a lucky one to be chosen to adopt her.
she is shy and needing lots or reassuring that she is ok. she spokes at everything even things on TV. i just reassure her and she settles down. this morning she showed me she knows how to sit. have been working on this and she will do things at her time.
what is going through my mind is if you saw the movie or read the book Marley and me. well, i think i have a Marley on my hands. she has so much energy and hard to wear down, into everything and chewing on everything and swollowing everything before i can get it out of her mouth. she is supposed to be Australian Shepherd and Lab mix.

this is her coloring of her fur and her fur is changing. this pic was taken probably 2-3 weeks ago.

That’s going to be a shock to the people down there. We’ve had a few cold days, but none as cold as these. Now they’ saying highs in the 20’s, now that’s way too cold for November. Fortunately, it’s only supposed to last a week.

Still tired today, but it was sunny even though it’s still very cool, so I decided to finish cleaning off flower beds. Next week it’s supposed to be worse with highs only in low 30’s. Brrr, that’s more like December weather for us.

Kay - you're right poor kitty! I had to laugh, though, with all these big guys that run for a living and a cat outdid them. Glad your supper went so well.

Starr, you’re a very busy woman! I saw that cat video, and I felt sorry for it, running like crazy and the closeup showed it was panting. Your daughter ‘s tongue incident sounds very painful. I can’t stand a little sore or anything on my tongue. Hope she feels better soon. Your food sounds yummy for both dinners.

We had a great turnout for our turkey supper, weather cooperated and things went well. The only thing we ran out of was stuffing. I am bone tired, but in a good way.

Well, yesterday’s humidity was at 97%. No wonder I was in extra pain & had a migraine. I ran into 3 other people yesterday who also had a migraine. And I’d had a migraine the day before as well.

I had to take my youngest DD to Urgent Care yesterday. The night before, at her monthly Dinner Club, she bit her tongue while she was eating. She actually BIT the end of it OFF. There are teeth marks on it!! Although it didn’t bleed at all, she said that it hurt. So off to Urgent Care we went, the next day, to the 1st appointment that they had…..which was at 8 AM. The doctor said that people biting a piece of their tongue off is actually more common then what a person might think. I guess that Urgent care is similar to the ER, where you see a lot more then what is in a normal doctor’s office. Anyway, the doctor gave us a script for an antibiotic and a mouthwash which has Lidocain (not the correct spelling-but it is a pain killer) in it. Evidently the mouthwash’s pain killer is very effective, as she said that the pain was gone right after she spit the mouthwash out. She stayed pain free for almost 3 hours. She can get it every 3 to 4 hours, so it lasted just long enough to get the next dose. By bedtime last night she said that it was not hurting at all, even though it was time for another dose. But the doctor said that she needed to take it every 3 to 4 waking hours because it promotes healing. She does not understand swishing & spitting out. So when I put the medicine in her mouth I tell her to NOT swallow it, and remind her, as she is swishing, to not swallow it….then to spit it out like she does her toothpaste. With reminders, she does well. So, that was all the drama that I needed for the day.

We had very heavy rain & lightening storms last night. While I was watching TV the electricity flickered, which made the TV go off. When the electricity goes off like that, it takes the cable companies equipment 10 or so minutes to get booted back up. Well, it was almost finished booting up when the electricity flickered again. So again the cable box went off and rebooted itself……another 10 minutes to wait. The TV had just come back on—after 20 minutes of waiting, and the electricity flickered again. Off the TV went and the cable box began to boot up. So I said the heck with it and went to bed. I read on my cell phone for about an hour before finally getting sleepy.

Yesterday I got my fixings for Thanksgiving dinner for, both, church and at my DD’s home. For the Thanksgiving banquet at church I am taking a cherry dump cake. For dinner at DD’s I am taking a sweet potato casserole & my mom’s recipe of Sunshine Salad. It is made with cottage cheese, cool whip, nuts, pineapple, marshmallows and dry orange jello. Evidently it is well liked, as I often get requests to bring it to dinners.

I don’t know what the deal is, but the past 2 nights I have been waking up between 12 & 12:30 AM. And not been able to get back to sleep; getting only 2 or so hours of sleep a night. So instead of being up for 12 to 14 hours, I am up for roughly 22 hours a day with only a couple hours of sleep. So by noon I am completely exhausted and very sleepy. I wonder if it has anything to do with the time change---but since our time has been altered only by 1 hour, I don’t understand why it is having me wake up at midnight when I go to bed at my normal time.

Have any of you seen the video of the black cat on the football field in the middle of the game? I bet that poor thing was scared, with all those people screaming & making loud noise, and all the football players running around; that poor baby. I bet that once he got off the field he thought to himself, boy I am never going to go there again!! I have not personally seen it, but someone told me that she’d seen the video on a few different sources.

I love the team page picture of the dog & cat dressed in Thanksgiving apparel. SO cute. emoticon emoticon emoticon

My pastor called everyone, by a group message, to say that there would be no Wednesday night service; because of the heavy rain-lightening-thunder storms. Which was fine with me, as I had a migraine anyway.

I use to be able to grow violetsinside, but haven’t had one in years. This house doesn’t have any east windows which is where I had the best luck.

Kay, I can associate you thinking that you'll probably kill the plant that you got at the shower. I am the same way with plants. The only two house plants that I've managed to not kill is the two plants that I got from my DH's funeral. One is a peace lily, the other one looks like the peace lily, but it does not have flowers, just green leaves. Have had both for 5.5 years, and they seem to be thriving. I have had other plants since my husband's funeral, but all of them had died.

Had a good time at the baby shower; won a plant that I will probably kill. I’m not too good with indoor plants; going to have to look it up first, not quite sure what it is. Lol

Relaxing today, it’s going to be a busy week with church turkey supper and pie making.

Starr,
The Halloween at the zoo does sound rather frustrating. Where I live there are not trick or treaters. I do miss that. It was nice to see the grandchildren even though my grandson was not dressed up. My granddaughter was Rebel from Paw Patrol and my grand son was a snail which was perfect since he is crawling. I didn't see him in his costume since it did not work with the car seat. I did see pictures of them though. It was cute.
It must be rather frustrating with the piano lessons. Perhaps you can talk to the teacher and ask her to slow down. Explain to her you are having trouble keeping up with all the information. She should adapt to your way of learning. If not, maybe you'll need to find a teacher that is better for you.

I am watching the little dog again. He is a pretty good dog except he woke me up at 1:30 a.m. to go outside. At least he does not do it every night.

I think I am going to lay back down for a bit. I am totally not awake yet. I am recovering from a nasty sinus infection and still am not back to normal yet. I had to go through two rounds of antibiotics. Luckily, I finally improved.

Krys, Yes, a couple of them have trunk or treat here too.

Went to baby shower for my niece in law today, supposed to be a Christmas or New Year baby. It’ll be exciting to have a baby around at holidays again.

Kay - there weren't very many kids out last night that I could see through my window. So many churches have an event and it is safer than wondering the streets.

Starr - I imagine a lot of the piano students are young people?

Starr, that’s hard work on piano lessons, so I admire your effort. Not sure that I could do it at my age. The zoo in our nearby city does that too, last time we did that was about 27 odd years ago with our son. It was crowded even then. That’s too bad about your town not having a Silver Sneakers choice. We have two fitness centers run by hospital nearby and the YWCA about 20 miles away, and we are very rural.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Hello there my friends.

Well, I am glad that Halloween is over. I didn't "dress up", have not since I was in elementary school. By the time that my two oldest were in their early teens, they no longer had a desire to celebrate Halloween. But even though youngest, who is 30, is mentally that of a pre-teen (or younger depending what the situation is) she enjoys dressing up and going doing Halloween activities. She was a cat this year. Last weekend eldest DD took her DD and sister to the zoo where they had train rides and giving out candy at each animal enclosure. The normal price to get into the zoo is $9.00. But for Hallowzooween it costs $15.00 to get in. But you can ride the train all that you want, and there is candy galore. Eldest DD said that there was a line of cars so long to go to Hallowzooween that it took them almost an hour to go from the exit off the highway to the zoo. Normally from the highway to the zoo is only a 10 or 15 minute drive. Then, once they found a place to park and walked to the entrance to the zoo where you pay to get in, there was a very long line which snaked thru the huge parking lot. DD said that it took more then an hour to get from the end of the line to the zoo gate where you paid to get in. Eldest DD said that it was VERY chaotic & frustrating trying to keep up with your party. I am not sure that she will be willing to take her sister & DD to that next year. Personally, you could not pay me enough to go thru that. Then last night DD came to pick-up my youngest and they went to a local park where there were many representatives of stores in our area, churches, fire, police, ambulance personnel, and just average citizens all handing out candy, color books, short reading books, pencils, toothbrushes, crayons....all sorts of "goodies". Both my DD's & GD enjoyed that much more then they enjoyed the zoo. When eldest DD came home at 8:00 to drop youngest DD off after the event at the park, she said that NO BODY had any lights on outside of their homes on my entire block. I made sure that my garage lights & porch light were off long before dark set in. My dogs freak out when the door bell rings, and to have to listen to that all night would give me a headache. Which I deal with enough without doing something which I know is going to cause one. I don't know about today, but when I was a kid & my children were kids, it was just an unspoken truth that you didn't go to any house that didn't have lights on on the outside.

Kay, the Silver Sneakers which I tried out was at a gym in another city, more than a 30 minute drive away. The only other place which has Silver Sneakers is an hour drive away. My city has only 1 gym, and they do not have Silver Sneakers. Do you like going to your Silver Sneakers group?

Carol, what we’re your GC dressed up as for Halloween? I bet you enjoyed seeing them. Are you enjoying your new home Carol?
I am so glad that you found your garage door opener. I lost mine a few years ago and it cost me just over $30.00 to get it replaced, not to mention the gas it took to make the 1 hour trip there and back.

Kry, the piano lessons are not exactly fun. At the weekly lessons she is giving me new notes & keys to learn, when I am not even comfortable with what I was given to learn the week before. I practice from 30 minutes to 1 hour on most days-but am able to get part of the lesson down. But she wants me to keep practicing what I’d already learned too. So, when I finish “learning” the present week’s lesson, I have forgotten how to do those lessons from weeks prior. I am so frustrated. I don’t see how people remember so much as one time….and then add everything that had already been taught. Does that make sense? My mind is just on overload. I guess that most of her students just breeze right through and lessons and are more than ready for the next lesson, but it just is not working out like that for me. I have always been a slower learner, and it appears that I am the same with piano.
I woke up so tired this morning. I know that it does not make any sense to wake up tired………..but unfortunately I do that often. Dr. said it is a combination of fibromyalgia, scoliosis, Hashimoto’s disease, migraine headaches & sleep apena.

Ok ladies, this is it for me for today.

Hugs to you all,
Starr

Carol, glad you found your garage door opener. That'll be fun having the grandkids over. I love to see the little kids dressed up & going around. We don't get any because we're on a rural road.

Our town had theirs on Saturday. My sis said she only had around 25 when she usually has 200 or more; she lives in town. It was raining so hard that night she said poor kids looked like drowned rats. City has theirs tonight but it's raining again & supposed to snow too; very cold.

Hi everyone,
Happy Halloween! I'm not sure if my subdivision passes out candy. I live in a condo complex. I'll have to contact my mom who lives across the street from me. My daughter in law texted me and asked if I wanted her to bring the kids over tonight. I am excited about seeing them. They are 4 and almost 1.

It is quite rainy here and will be colder. It reminds me of when my kids were young. We never knew what the weather would be.

Guess what? My mom had my garage door opener that I thought I lost on my bike ride. I asked her if it was there and she said no. Her eyes are not good, but I am so glad she found it. I already programmed my car, but I'll be able to use it when I bike ride in the Spring.

My family room looks so much better without all the wires.

Krys, mine is all paid, so far, by my former employer, but I get to choose my supplement insurance company myself through a benefit administrator. I’m taking advantage of the perks because these days, you’re never sure how long these benefits will last.

Starr, my Silver Sneakers is just a paid membership to a fitness center or YMCA; was yours to a certain group? I had several choices of places to, which surprised me as I live in a rural town, not a city. That’s really great that you’re taking piano lessons; churches are really in need of pianists or organists these days. I know our church is.

Krys, that’s too bad. I’m kind of surprised because most of the supplements that I looked at offered it.

Good afternoon everyone.

Carol, I hope that you got your TV wires set up. I know that moving is a huge pain, especially with children. My husband was in the army, where we had to move from one duty station to another—a lot; including one move to Germany & back to the United States 2 years later. We’ve lived in this house for 12 years now--and with the way that my physical health has deteriorated a bit--I’m not sure that I’d be able to move again; at least, not without a LOT of help.

Kay, that’s a lot of pies to be baking. I am glad that you enjoy doing that. Myself, I hate cooking & baking. Although if I had to do one or the other more than necessary; I’d rather bake. I hope that you all will have a very good thanksgiving dinner at church, as well as great fellowship.

Same for you Krys--I hope that you & your church family will enjoy your thanksgiving lunch & fellowship.
I have gone to Silver Sneakers. It was OK. But even though everyone was my age or older and/or physically disabled--I was not able to keep up; was very discouraged by that. The person who taught the class looked to be in her late 20’s. So she didn’t seem to take anyone’s age and/or disabilities into consideration. Besides that, the closest gym that offers Silver Sneakers was more than a 30 minute drive away.

I went this morning for my piano lesson. I am doing well, progressing nicely; so she says. This week made my 11th lesson. I am having such a hard remembering what key is where and what each note looks like. I hate that I am so slow to learn. And, I wish that my mom had allowed me to take piano in music class when I was in Jr./high school. I could have been a pro at it by now. Not saying that I would have been an actual professional. But I probably would have done very well with it; possibly being able to playing the piano/keyboard in church. Oh well.

I hope you all have a great & relaxing evening.

Hugs,
Starr

Our church has a public Thanksgiving dinner every year on 1st Thursday of November as an outreach; no charge, but free will donation. It’s turkey & dressing and all the trimmings and pie. I have to make 5 pies next week and bake two store bought ones. It’s a lot of work, but fun.

I finally got my card to get into our local hospital’s fitness center. I have been eligible for almost a year, but never got around to it. I also was trying to decide whether I wanted to go local or join the YMCA in a nearby town. If you’re over 65 and have a Medicare supplement policy, you go on SilverSneakers.com and see if you qualify. Most do.

TEENYSMOM9, the meal at your church sounds like fun. My church has something similar, but I may not go due to my IBS. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Today I am having the wires put behind the wall for my T.V. It is pretty messy right now. It will be nice to have an improvement. Slowly, but surely I am getting things together. My next thing on the list is to replace some blinds and hopefully find a small dresser so I do not have to do my bills on my kitchen table.

Thank you for the birthday greetings. I am so glad that Ben is doing well. They announced in church this morning that were having our church Thanksgiving dinner on the 17th. So I need to get the ingredients for dump cake to take. The church is providing the ham, turkey & trimming. The congregating is supposed to bring desserts.

Kaye, we are supposed to get a lot of rain also. Right now it is cold and sunny. Most definitely a Fall day. I haven't made anything yet, but plan on making the pumpkin bread with cream cheese mixture inside.

Carol, I’m struggling with mine too, maybe when it frosts some more, it will help. Right now the dust and mold from combining is really bothering me.

Supposed to get quite a bit of rain tomorrow afternoon, but they’ve said that before. It’s really kind of dry here.

Starr, happy belated birthday. It sounds like you had an enjoyable day. I just love pumpkin! I try to make something with pumpkin every time this year. I haven't had the pumpkin cheesecake yet. I was thinking of making the bread that has cream cheese in the middle. I've made that one before and it is so good.

Unfortunately, this sinus infection does not want to go away. I've been on anti-biotics for a week. It got better and then yesterday became worse again. Today it is not as bad as yesterday. I did end up calling the Dr. Not sure if she'll add steroids or have me on the anti-biotics for a longer amt. of time.

Starr, Happy belated Birthday!! Glad the storms didn’t heat you directly. That was a wonderful birthday treat!

Thanks for the well wishes for Ben. So far so good, thought meds were going to make him too sleepy, but now he’s seems to be getting conditioned to it.

Well, today is my birthday! And aside from my precious Alan not being part of it, it was a good day. I went to a local Café and had coffee with my eldest DD. She brought her auto harp and played/sung happy birthday to me. And she gave me 3 beautiful purple (one of my favorite colors) bracelets, which she made out of beads. The lady who owns the café, when DD told her that it was my birthday, gave each of us a slice of our choice of pie. I got pumpkin cream & she got turtle pie. That pie was yummy. I don’t eat a lot of sweets, so that was a real treat. I love pumpkin, so tried the cream pumpkin….which I’d never had before. It was very good. A combination taste of pumpkin & cheesecake. Yum!! Tomorrow both DD’s are going to take me to see a movie at the theater and then Saturday DD, her husband and my granddaughter will take me & youngest DD out to dinner.

No more nasty weather on the horizon, as far as I know. But the wind was horrible today. Just driving down the road was a major chore, trying to keep the car on the part of the road that it was supposed to be. When I got home from the café this morning, all of the boxes that I had in my trash can ready for the trash men to pick up in the morning, was clear at the very end of my block…..4 houses down. And all 10 of my empty 5 gallon water bottles were strewn all over the back yard. The tornado that came thru here a couple days ago killed 3 people, injured several and tore up many houses & businesses. emoticon

Tomorrow our temperatures will plummet. Not get above 40 degrees. The past 4 days our high temps have been in the mid to high 70’s. So that’s going to be a huge change. I just might have to turn on the heater tomorrow. If so, it will be the 1st time since this past February.

Kay, I am SO happy that your fur-baby does not have cancer. Praise the Lord!! I hope the Pepcid & Xanax will help him feel better soon. emoticon

OK, going to go fix dinner.

emoticon to you all.
~~Starr~~

Hugs to you all.

Starr - I live in GA currently, but have lived in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, so I know how scary those warnings can be. Glad you are all okay.

CAROL - with this crazy weather and storms, I'm sure your sinuses are on a roller coaster ride!

Kay - you won't be any worse off by asking for a do over than you are anyway. At least that's my philosophy and a good half of the time I get a discount or something. Can't hurt to try?

Carol, that's too bad about the pumpkins! Hope your sinus infection clears up soon. Steam does help.

Starr, good to hear from you. Hope you don't get any severe storms/tornadoes. Weather is crazy this year. Your daughters will have fun with those pumpkins!

Krys, I don't know what kind of warranty Crizal or Varilux has because website says it's up to eye doctor, and they're aware of problem, don't think I'll get anywhere. They always say you used something to clean them that wasn't correct.

Krys, I didn't end up doing the pumpkins. I guess they wanted to do it at their house. Maybe next year I'll ask if I can partake in it. It's probably a good thing since I am still dealing with this sinus infection. I thought it was improving, but today am still hurting even with the meds. I have a person sinus steamer I am going to do in a few minutes. Yesterday when I did that it really helped.

Good morning everyone. emoticon I hope that all are doing well.

My youngest DD is going to go to my eldest DD's house on Thursday to carve pumpkins with my grand DD. She's really looking forward to that. They do it around this time every year. Everyone gets 1 medium size & 1 small pumpkin. The medium size they put stickers on, the small one they carve. My youngest always loves doing that. emoticon emoticon

It is 2:00 in the morning right now. Normally I would be asleep, but we are under a severe thunderstorm & tornado warning. I know that lots of people can sleep through tornado warnings, but I can't. I need to be up, dressed and ready to get my DD, the dogs & cats into the bathroom (our safe place) if the tornado alarm goes off on my cell phone. So, this will make for a very long day for me with less then 2 hours of sleep. emoticon

I don't know where you all live, but someone that is on another one of my teams lives in Canada and says that yesterday their high temperatures was below zero! And it was snowing. I told her that here in Oklahoma we never get snow before December, and (IF were going to get those kind of temperatures) we don't see below freezing till January or February! A really big difference between one & another state/country when it comes to weather.

I hope you all will have a wonderful Monday. emoticon
Starr

Carol, I like decorating pumpkins, haven’t done it since my son was growing up. They have some cute ideas now without carving like painting, stencils, etc.

My granddaughter is planning on coming over today with her pumpkin and putting stickers on it. Originally, I thought my son wanted to carve it. Stickers will be not as messy and fun for her since she is young. It should be fun!

Carol, Feel better soon! I’ve been battling my sinuses all week. I took a few leftover antibiotics and finally feeling better. This is always my worst time of year for that.

Krys, I don’t know how it starts but once it does, you can hold them up and see fine scratch like marks or crackle marks all over the surface. It’s almost like you took fine sandpaper to them.

Nice day, picked up my new glasses; my old ones’ anti-reflective coating crackled so bad that it was like looking through fog. I’ve only had one other pair do that.

Krys & Kaye, thanks for the suggestions about the garage door. I'm hoping today I can go for a bike ride on the same route and look around. If no luck I'll try to figure out the car and if no luck will head to the store. It's in the 30's this morning and 60's this afternoon. I'm certainly not looking forward to the cold weather arriving. I wasn't able to enjoy my Summer since I was so busy looking for a place to live, buying my home and packing and unpacking.

MaryAlice - wow, that's quite the difference in your temps!!

CAROL - Lowes and Home Depot, around here, sell replacement garage openers. If you have the manual (might be on-line), or have the model name and number it really isn't that hard to program one.

CAROL - hope you find the opener, though, they are replaceable.

Kay - we are relatively cooler, with temps in the 80's instead of 90 or 100, but still way too warm for Oct.

Carol, I can see why you wouldn’t want to go over that route again so soon. Can you get another one relatively easily? It’s cool here too, and very windy. If you have the wind like we do, bike riding wouldn’t be an option.

Kaye, I was thinking about doing that also, but it's getting colder now. Also the route was a tough one. There was hills I had to make sure to go faster to get up the hills. It was a challenge with my disability. Luckily my right leg is strong and makes up for the left one lol

Carol, that's too bad, maybe you could go back over your route. I hope no one picked it up.

Been cleaning off flower beds of the things that have finished for the season. Still have a lot that is still blooming. Can't believe so many are already getting snow.

I went bike riding yesterday and when I returned home my garage door opener was not in my bag. I had a bag on the handlebars so I could listen to my music on my phone. I never saw it fall out. Ugh!
