Emily, I had some pretty horrible things happen to me last November. I didn't eat for weeks at a time and lost weight. Now I am feeling better and joined Jenny Craig just to establish good eating habits. I Skype with a personal coach and she helps a lot. I also am seeing a mental health doctor once a month, who feels I have major sleep issues.

Thanks for responding. I remember you from the Nutrisystem boards

Amy, I combine NS with calorie counting, and I've just joined Weight Watchers. I want to be able to work in a treat every now and then and not feel like I've cheated, which is a problem for me on NS. I tend towards all ot nothing thinking. When I lost my 100 pounds on NS I NEVER went off plan. Once I tried to add in a little of this and a little of that, I was so tired of the progrm I just did my own thing which led me to a gain of 70 pounds. emoticon I'm trying to get rid of that by being more moderate this time so I want a structure that allows for that. I tend to beat myself up if I go off a plan, but I need a tracing system of some sort.

What are you doing?

Congratulations Emily. I wish I could say the same. I can't stick to the plan, and have gained some this week. Are you 100 percent Nutrisystem, then?

Amy, I am eating the NS foods again. I tried it without but I need the grab and go and the structure right now. The NS foods make it so easy because my choices are right there, not infinite in my head. After a dismal summer weight-wise I'm down 3 pounds in 4 days on plan. I know it's water but I don't care!!

Emily, are you still following Nutrisystem? I got so I couldn't eat the food anymore, after 2 years. Then I had major stress hit my life November 21st 2015 and I just lost weight by not eating.

Those frozen foods are really good! We bought a small extra freezer to help with storage once I went with the frozen foods.

I love the cinnamon roll for breakfast and the roasted turkey medallions with mashed potatoes. Those have got to be my personal favorites.

I just ate a cookie... It wasn't a nutrisystem cookie, it was a sugar cookie with icing leftover from the Easter basket I bought my daughter. This was my first slip since I began this journey in Feb. I swear it was the best tasting cookie I have ever had! Hahahaha

Jo, if you save a PF from the day you can put 1T peanut butter on top of the brownie for "frosting". It's really good that way! You can also mix up an extra's worth of PB2 into a frosting.. Good stuff!

And that frozen cinnamon roll......I love that one!

Dang, those NS brownies are good! And this is why it's good for me to have pre-portioned foods! I also had a frozen cinnamon roll for breakfast. Can I really lose weight eating this yummy stuff?!

I had a big salad with grilled chicken for lunch and the NS Chicken Pasta Parm for dinner. Feeling satisfied!

Jo, I hope you added more PF and SC to your day. Your food looks like good subs for the NS meals but I don't see any of the add ins.

Weekends on your own shouldn't be the plan NS offers to new members, I don't think. They used to not offer that until you were close to maintenance. I tried to flex my day yesterday and ended up way over calories. I know I do better flexing a meal here and there.

Well, today I was on my own because I'm on the "weekends your way" program.

I ate an egg white, ham and cheese english muffin for breakfast, a NS bar for lunch because I was on the go with kids all afternoon, and a Chick Fil A Asian salad with no dressing (they were out of the honey sesame. probably a good thing ;)) for dinner. I did add the wonton strips and almonds they gave me for flavor. I snuck a few of my son's fries.

I snacked on carrots, string cheese and had a NS chocolate shake with greens in the afternoon.

Calorie-wise I had a good day. Just hope they were the right type of calories. We'll see when I weigh in tomorrow!

Jo, I love the pot pie. I toast my crust in the toaster oven and pour the dinner over some extra veggies, usually green beans, then put the golden brown crust on the mixture. I agree, it's a great dinner!

Hmmm, I may have that tonight!

Jelly Bean, someone once told me to think volume with my add ins. Nuts and dried fruit don't take up much space. But an apple and some yogurt does.

I've also been advised to cut back on cheeses and dairy for too many of my PFs. I will say on days when I have 3 1/2 ounces of chicken breast on a salad then have my lunch bar, it satisfies me longer than when I have just the NS entree and a cup of green beans. I also max out the calories on my PF/SC, going up to that 120 calorie mark. I don't know if that would work for you since you want to lose less than I do at this point.

5-7 egg whites is a PF. I will boil a dozen on the weekend and take out the yolk after I slice them. I have these in the car on my morning commute with some cherry tomatoes and it keeps me pretty happy until breakfast time at school. Sometimes, instead of the egg whites I'll take 3 Jimmy Dean turkey sausage links and eat them in the car with the tomatoes. For me, making that PF at breakfast take a long time to eat is the key to my day. I am up at 4:15, in the car at 6:00, picking up my students at 7:20, then we eat breakfast in the classroom at 8:00 or so. If I'm hungry, I'll eat whatever the district is feeding the kids that day, which is NOT typically a healthy thing.

For milk to drink along with your NS breakfast you could do 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk for 35 calories. That's a limited extra. Then you could have some eggs or lunchmeat, or turkey sausage links.

Being hungry bites. I also snack on brussels sprouts or a can of beets. Better than a bag of chips or CheezIts!

I want to lose about 20lbs. this is the first regimented diet Ive EVER been on...I am not a fan of vegetables so thats all new to me too. before I started nutrisystem I ate junk food pretty much 24/7...my favorite thing in the world is chocolate lucky charms..:/

I know...RIGHT??? I feel like Im missing something too...but I only get 3 PFs and 1 SC which is supposed to be fruit. I took your advice last night, as I was starving before bedtime...and I nuked my frozen brussel sprouts...(brussel sprouts for a snack??? who am i????)

yeah...that worked until 2am when I woke up still hungry..ugh. the plus is today Im wearing pants that I couldnt fit into 3 weeks ago, so IM not complaining..but if this continues..I will be adding that extra protein shake before bed. whatever...I cant be miserable...and I love my sleep.

3/1/16
breakfast NS chocolate muffin
PF- milk

snack PF almonds

lunch NS chicken noodle soup

PF/SC Walnuts and dried mango

Dinner was NS Pizza with extra mushrooms
Dessert was NS Brownie

I snacked on baby carrots all day and like I said I had a big bowl of brussel sprouts about an hour before going to bed.haha.

I think my PFs need more volume...as much as i love nuts, they arent keeping me full.

Jelly Bean, your menu looks pretty good.. I see 2 PF (cheese sticks and milk). How many do you get again? For the NS cereal, 1/2 cup of milk is included in the breakfast, so unless you had 1 1/2 cups you shorted yourself! I'ts hard to see, but in the directions for the cereal preparation it says to add 1/2 cup of milk. (I know...who reads cereal directions??) You still count the calories but it lets you have something else for a PF.

Anyone who is hungry can always add more veggies. I get more than the recommended 4 servings. Generally, a serving of raw veggies is 1 cup and a serving of cooked veggies is 1/2 cup.

I think I'd be hungry, too on that menu. Can you let us know how many added SC and PF you get each day? It just seems like you're missing something. I'm honestly rarely hungry, so I'm not sure where to suggest changes.

Also, how close are you to goal? That info might help, too.

Hang in there!

I honestly haven't even looked at the tracker that comes in my order in a really long time since I make one out of a small spiral. I also track sometimes on my fitness pal since you can rename your meals anything you want. I outline my plan that way.

It does look like the plan I'm on is the men's plan now. Interesting, I will say I'm adding a SC and a PF because my ideal weight is more than 100 pounds less than I weigh now. Like I said earlier, I didn't take either extra out until I how the mid 180s and the weight loss slowed down.

My calories on mfp were about 1600 today, which is well within the range for the 1500 plan. The range is 1500-1799. I don't count calories every day but I sometimes do just to make sure.

I'm on the 1500 calorie plan, but my booklet says:

Breakfast: NS & PF
Snack: PF (SC men only)
Lunch: NS (PF and SC men only)
Snack: PF & SC
Dinner: NS
Dessert: NS dessert

So, less SC unless you're men. Maybe I should add in one somewhere?? I am eating lots of veggies.

Powerfuels are proteins, 80-120 calories each
Smartcarbs are fruit, carbs, starchy vegetables. also 80-120 calories each (at least 1 should be fruit)
(You can find a list in the back of the log NS sends. I'm sure you can Google it, too.)

Whatever number of each of these your program calls for must be eaten each day. You can move them around if you like, but you must eat all of them. These are in addition to the NS meals. You are only to eat 1 of each NS meal category each day. These meals cannot substitute for the SC and PF.

You also need at least 4 servings of unlimited vegetables and can have more. The calories from the veggies don't count towards your daily calories on NS. In fact, I never regularly counted calories on NS. I just made a log from a small spiral notebook listing each thing I am to eat and write what I ate next to the category.

Mine looks like this:

Breakfast
NS
PF

Snack
SC
PF

Lunch
NS
PF

snack
SC
PF

Dinner
NS
SC

Dessert
NS

Veg:
Extras:

(That's the 1500 calorie plan. Its actually a range of 1500-1799 calories.)

That's all I do. I lost 100 pounds doing that.

Extras: you get up to 3 limited extras. These are foods between 11-35 calories. You don't have to eat them, but can. Foods 10 calories and lower are unlimited. These are foods like mustard, etc.

Thanks! I thought I read everything but the power fuels and smartcarbs confuse me! I was beginning to notice I wasn't eating much fruit... So I picked up bananas yesterday. 😊

Jelly bean, it doesn't look like you're adding all of the add ins. This can make it hard to lose. Try following the plan as it is written. I don't see any powerfuels yesterday and a couple of extra desserts. The plan info I have says 1 smart carb each day should be a fruit.

Just a suggestion.

Luvkarla, maybe take a lunch bar and a breakfast bar. If the meals are buffet style you can eat protein for breakfast and have the NS breakfast bar, and a salad for lunch with the NS lunch bar. If they are full plates of food it's really hard but just try to make the best possible choices, like you said.

Yesterday:

B: NS Harvest Nut bar, 1 egg, 2 whites, 1 c. cherry tomatoes, V8 (NS, PF)
S: yogurt, banana (SC, PF)
L: salad w/3.5 oz chicken breast, Zone Perfect bar (NS, PF)
S: apple, 2 sticks reduced fat colby jack (SC, PF)
D: NS macaroni and cheese with sausage, green beans, bread, Brummel and Brown spread (NS, SC) (B&B spread was an extra, well, all 3 of my limited extras!)
D: Sea Salt NS bar (NS)

That sure looks like a lot, but I was down a pound this morning. It's exactly how I ate the last time I went from 278-185. I have tracked calories on some days and I'm always in the 1500-1799 range the 1500 calorie plan provides.

I started out getting the 2 different start kits from walmart-then I ordered the women's favorite basic plan on nutrisystem.com and I think they gave me a 1200 calorie plan...but Im not logging on numi and I kinda just worked it out on my own..

breakfast
snack
lunch
snack
dinner
dessert

I figured as long as I hit the calorie range, used the NS foods and got my veggies in, id be good.

Ive never been able to follow a diet plan so I think its going really really well :)

Thanks for the suggestions...I will add them in when I get super hungry :)

Luvkarla, I love zucchini noodles!

Jelly Bean, you should also have some PF and SC to add to your day, the number depends on your plan. This would be the string cheese (PF) and grapes (SC) you see on Luvkarla's menu. I'm having a hard boiled egg and 2 boiled egg whites with my breakfast as a PF and 3 oz chicken breast on a salad with my NS lunch bar. What is the name of your plan?

Jelly Bean, are you adding in the Powerfuels and Smartcarbs, along with the minimum 4 servings of vegetables? Those are all important.

The program is easy. That's one reason I like it so much.

Yeah, that makes it almost the same as the older Success plan I follow. Mine has 4 PF and 3 SC in addition to the nutrisystem foods. That's with the additional PF and SC for 100+ to lose. The one you have isn't much different.

I wanted to lose weight on the most food I could so maintenance wouldn't be so stringent!

I'm on the women's 1500 plan. Here's how I distribute the NS meals, PF, and SC:

NS breakfast
PF

PF
SC

NS lunch
PF

PF
SC

NS dinner
SC

NS dessert

That is the plan I lost on, since I started with over 100 to lose. I lost fine on that from 278 to about 185, then I cut a SC. That's my plan this time, too. The calorie range for that plan is 1500-1799, which is fine for me. I didn't think I could lose eating that much but I did.

What plan do they have you on? No plan is below 1200 besides the Turbo one, and people 100 pounds over their goal range need more than 1200.

Luvkarla, those aren't my favorites, either. I will say the cinnamon bar and all the muffins are so much tastier when warmed in the microwave for about 15 seconds. The chicken alfredo requires some doctoring up to make it better, but it's not a favorite.

Have fun with your PF, SC, and dessert today!

Luvkarla, I'm not a fan of it, either. I did try it over a salad since I ended up with 2 and it wsa better as a topping for a type of Mexican salad. I have one left. Not sure how I ended up woth another, lol!

You're doing great. Remember, Turbo is hard and may not be best for your body if you have 120 pounds to lose. The calories are low. I lost fine before they came out with any kind of 1st week plan, so ig you need to go to the regular program you should still lose.
