Fill up on fiber. Found in fruits, veggies, whole grains and beans, fiber will keep you full longer and reduce your risk of a variety of diseases. Gradually increase your daily intake to 25-35 grams.

Fish for Omega-3's. Two to three servings a week are good for your heart, brain and body. You'll find it in fatty fish (like salmon and albacore tuna), ground flaxseed, soybean oil and walnuts.

I'm really looking forward to visiting a local seafood restaurant because now they offer broiled scallops. I'm getting better about what restaurants I choose to eat at and what I choose when I get there!

Look for the "green flag" menu words. Healthy restaurant foods are usually described as baked, boiled, broiled, fresh, grilled, light, multigrain, poached, seasoned, steamed, or stir-fried.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Research shows that moderate drinking can prevent certain diseases, but occasional binge drinking has negative effects. Limit it to 1 drink daily for women and 2 drinks daily for men.

Thanks Judy, I always eat a sandwich on 2 slices Aunt Millie's 12 grain bread...6 grams fiber PER slice and I eat Kashi go lean cereal a couple times per day at 9 grams fiber each serving!

I never cook with salt except adding a little to spaghetti or pinto beans. My husband stopped me from using salt to cook because he stopped salt intake a couple of years before we meet.

Monitor your sodium intake. Less that 2,300 mg each day is ideal-That's about 1 teaspon of salt. Look for salt-free and reduced-sodium versions of canned and frozen foods.

Go nuts! Almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, pecans, peanuts, pistachios all contain healthy monounsaturated fats that lower your risk of several diseases. Grab a small handful 3-5 times per week.

I do that...several small snacks of perhaps, apple wedges, carrots, celery or nuts. It does keep the growlies away.....Great Advice Judy!!

Chew on schedule! Too much time between meals can drop your energy levels, increase your metabolism and result in overeating. Space your meals evenly throughout the day and eat a healthy snack between each meal.

I love fruits & vegetables, but sometimes it's hard fitting in the recommended amount. I've started "sneaking" fruit into my food (blueberry pancakes, applesauce instead of oil) and I'm doing much better.
