Short term: to stick to my exercise regimen.
Mid term: to reach a weight of 190lbs.
Long term: to reach a weight of 160 pounds, maintain that weight and my healthy lifestyle which includes eating whole foods most of the time, staying within the appropriate calories, exercising regularly, drinking water, developing some friendships, maintaining my spirituality, and exploring my creative abilities.
Oh and I almost forgot a very important part which is giving back by making a difference in the lives of others.

Short Term Goal: exercise 10 min/day, strength train 3x/wk, and track food and exercise. I'm not consistent with the strength training yet, but I'm getting there!

Mid-Term Goal: able to hike moderate trails, bike 3.5 miles with the kids to the beach and then 3.5 miles back, do my regular exercise routines consistently and without pain or suffering! Actually, I want to be able to get up from the couch without pain in my feet and back! Finally, I want to have established consistency in staying within my calorie range and providing healthy nutritious food for the entire family.

Long-Term Goal: Be fit and feisty, able to juggle and enjoy work (which I'll be doing by Jan 2011), family, friends and self! Maintain my good eating and fitness habits and continue to give back what I've found here at SparkPeople!

How about trying a measuring tape instead of the scales? If we were smaller and looked more slender, the number on the scale would be irrelevant anyway, wouldn't it?

I've been reading this thread for weeks and finally decided on goals that are important to me. It's amazing how a person can lose herself to the point of not even being sure what she likes and wants. So, here goes...

Short-term: 1) Break 150!
2) Cardio at least 3 times/week
3) Meet nutrition goals daily
4) Make community/state contacts
regarding Autism awareness

Mid-term: 1) Buy lingerie I feel confident/sexy in
2) Have the lingerie work :)
3) Smaller summer clothes & swimsuit
4) Outdoor exercise 5 times/week
5) Get involved in promoting Autism
awareness in my community/state

Long-term: 1) Positively influence my daughter's
nutrition and activity level
2) Meet & KEEP my goal weight
3) Exercise as a HABIT 5 times/week
4) Write a book about my personal
experience raising a child with an
Autism Spectrum Disorder

Short-term goals:
1) Learn to measure the quantity of everything I consume rather than eyeballing how much I think I've eaten.
2) Drink more water (I only ever manage 4 glasses, rather than eight)

Middle-term goals:
1) Run for 20 minutes at the gym.
2) Only eat when I'm hungry.

Long-term goals:
1) Lose 35 lbs (then buy a ridiculously expensive dress)
2) Run outside for an hour.
3) Sign up as a model in a life drawing class (gotta work on the old self-esteem).

Short Term Goals:
1. I've discovered I can stay within my calories and still not really eat healthy. So I'm working on eating 2 Fruits and 3 Veggies. I like fruits and veggies, I just find them hard to bring to work as snacks. Gotta figure out a better system.
2. Exercise 5 times a week.

Middle Goals:
1. Be able to wear my wedding ring again. I was about 25 pounds lighter on my wedding day and it was tight then. An accident last May caused me to have to take it off and I've not been able to wear it again without my fingers swelling terribly.
2. Continue my New Years Resolution of walking a charity race a month Jan - May and then starting up again in Oct - Dec. I missed one this month so I need to get back on the horse.

Long Term Goals:
1. Lose 50 - 100 pounds. I'm starting with 50 and will see when I get there how I feel.
2. Run/Walk a Marathon.

I just saw this thread - I like it!

Short term - Use the nutrition tracker to see how I'm doing with my food, and write down how I feel when I eat anything. This will help me figure out my triggers and keep my diet healthier.

Middle - Get a regular exercise routine going - at least 3 times per week. At this time, I'm working extra hours and often have joint pain and muscle stiffness (mostly due to stress). I know regular exercise will help this I just have to find the time to do it!

Long - Stick with both short and middle term goals consistently to help get to my goal weight!

short term - focus on water, diet and exercise with consistency, putting myself first

mid term - increase my endurance and muscle tone

long term - keep the short term and mid term goals going THIS time and for all time :)

I agree writing goals makes them seem more tangible and attainable, thank you!

I've already posted my goals, but here are some I've alrady achieved since December: I now drink 8 or more glasses of water every day. Eat at least 2 servings of fruit & 3 of veggies, have reduced my sodium intake, and I eat low fat, hardly eat fast food anymore. These are now habits & it takes time to develop them. emoticon

The first step in getting somewhere is by deciding not to stay where you're at.

Short term goal: Up my weights from 3# to 5# this weekend. Drink up to 10-12 glasses of water everyday, up from 8 glasses a day (64 oz). Finish the 30-Day Shred before the end of this month.

Mid-term goal: Be out of the 200s by summer 2010. Eat more fresh fruits and veggies, and less processed snacks.

Long-term goal: Reach my goal weight (150) by my birthday in November 2010. Make exercise and healthy eating the "norm" for me. Wear a bikini for the first time since I was six.

JustJenna3: Oh I am right there with you! My arms are already really beefy in muscle but also in fat right now, my thighs too! Every female in my family has such slim legs and no rear end at all, and I have heavy thighs and a pretty round booty. I'm ok having a butt but man, it would be nice to wear shorts and a tank top and not feel like I am busting out of them. Im hoping the walking takes care of the thighs and the weights take care of the arms. You have any tricks that are working for you to slim the arms down?

Short term: Eat healthier and follow my new meal plan. Also, drinking 8 cups of water a day.

Mid term: No sodas, 25 lbs off, feeling more energetic

Long term: 50 lbs off, all of the above, and not needing a meal guide, feeling sexy again

What progress, you ask, have I made? I have begun to be a friend to myself.

short term goal:
Well I'd really like to be able to wear my work clothes that I had grown out of... It costs too much to have to buy bigger clothes. I'm slowly fitting back into my regular size clothes!

middle term goal:
This summer, i'd like to FEEL comfortable wearing short sleeves. My arms like to store weight... like most women. I have been working hard on toning them and tightening them so that I can feel good in whatever I wear.

long term goal:
get healthy, stay healthy; get in shape, stay in shape. I want to live my life to the fullest and be able to run around with my son. I don't want him to see me as lazy or incapable. I want to be healthy for me and my family! I'm coming out of depression and anxiety and I never want to go back!

Short term:
Get started. Get past the initial aches and cravings, and make a habit of healthy cooking.

Mid term:
Donate my size 14s to charity.

Long term:
Carry my husband around the house on my shoulders. Get that line in the side of my thigh (the muscle one, not the stretch mark one.)

If I fail, it's because I chose to fail.

Short term:
Thinner and feeling good about myself for my Phoenix trip - 1 month from tomorrow! I plan on being in a bathing suit, and by the pool every day (AFTER working out of course!)

Middle term:
Fit into my size 12/14 summer clothes this year! - they've been in storage for way too long (I'm a 16/18 now)

Long term:
Be able to keep up with my best friend in the WDW Marathon in January 2011. - approx a 12 minute per mile pace (I'm at a 15 minute per mile now)

In the past, I've focused on the # on the scale... this time, I'm focusing on how I feel, the energy and strength that I've gained, and the way my clothes fit!

Let's go SP Class of March 7-10 2010! We are going to kick butt!!! emoticon

Great thread.

Short term goal: to lose just 7lbs. I have a big habit of starting a diet and then falling off the wagon. If I can just push myself past the 7lb mark I KNOW I will be able to do this!

Mid term goal: To have lost a stone by my 30th birthday in May, fingers crossed!

Long term goal: To be in the 144lb mark for the summer.

Main goal: To maintain it - with your help of course!

Week 1: - 1.2 lb
Week 2: - 1.8 lb

My long term goals are to lose 60lbs and fit in this really cute dress I purchased to keep me motivated!

In the next few months I hope to feel a whole lot more energized, less stressed and well rested.

In the next few weeks I hope to be more aware of what I am putting into my body and make better choices.

Same goals on a daily basis: drink 8 or more glasses of water, 15-30 grams of fiber, 2 servings of fruit. Have made these a habit, but I need to work on weight loss.

This is a thread we can use to discuss our goal and how we plan to reach them! Think about what you want to do in the next few weeks, the next few months and what you what your long term goals are and then how do you plan to reach them.

Just can't live that negative way....make way for a positive day!
