Good Afternoon!

How is everyone feeling today? My hope is that you are all feeling strong. I'm lucky today that my Daddy is feeling stronger than usual. We went for blood work this morning and everything was ok - a little low on all stats but not low enough for intervention. So we are good for a couple of days.

I found out last week that my insurance will pay to have my toenails cut by a doctor every nine weeks (because I am a diabetic) I was very happy to find this out because I inherited Daddy's thick toenails that are very hard to cut! So I have an appointment tonight at 6:30 pm to get that done. (never thought I'd be so happy about toenails! LOL)

have a great day!

Good evening everyone

Happy fall to those of us in the northern hemisphere!

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Took a short trip today to Burkes Garden VA where my brothers and I have a cabin we are trying to sell. We put up a new bigger for sale sign to be ready for the festival next weekend that will bring a thousand visitors right past my cabin...maybe one of them will want it.

Hope everyone has a good start to their week

Welcome to the team Kitt!

Debbie, I hope all goes well with your surgery.

My mom and I both did the Survivor walk at the Relay for Life yesterday. I posted a few photos in my blog today relating to the Relay.

Good afternoon. I have had pretty good day except the Packers lost!

We went to the sheep auction. We looked at the sheep. We checked out a breed Targhee, we were thinking about adding to our flock, but have decided we are going to stick with our Polypays.

Not to much else going on.

Take care,

Julie

Kitt, Welcome to the team, I am also a uterine cancer survivor.

Debbie, Will keep you in my prayers. I hope things will settle down for you soon.

Ida, Great job with the walking!

Kathy, It's great that you got your workout in, and your dad is having a good day.

I started my day with a nice walk. It was a beautiful morning, but I think fall is in the air!
The electrician was here today and got our new barn wired. We have lights! Now we just need water.

Tomorrow we are going to watch the University of Wisconsin stock auction. We are not planning on buying any sheep but we are looking forward to seeing the auction. UW has a big sheep ag program.

It is off to finish up laundry and working on my quilt.

Take Care!

Julie

Hi team, good to be able to reconnect with you all today. Went to a specialist last week as recommended to have my surgery out of town. We are considering along with the surgeon to involve an oncologist due to my new diagnosis.
I had not had my follow up with my OBGYN so I did not know what I would learn about it at this appointment where she forwarded my records.
I have what is known as precancerous complex hyperplasia. While at the office the specialist did an exam and fibroids were found on the anterior wall of my uterus, this is new, as they were not there at the time of my emergency surgery.
So I will be back to the surgeon for a consult on Oct 1 and we will be busy getting cleared for surgery following.

I wish you all good health, and ask that you please continue to keep me and my family in your prayers. I continue to learn all I can about my upcoming surgery and condition and know that I am doing the very best for myself in my absence from you all here.

I am hopeful all will go well and I will back to living life to the fullest very soon.

God Bless

Ida, that is quite an accomplishment! I hope you don't overdo it.

I'm going to our Relay for Life Survivor Celebration later on this afternoon. I am planning to walk the Survivor lap; been taking it easy today to save my energy for it. After we walk our lap around the track, we will be treated to a dinner.

Good evening everyone!

Kathy, I'm so glad to hear your dad is doing well.

Sue, I hope they figure what's going on and you feel better soon.

I met with my trainer this morning for my workout and she worked me hard. Between yesterday and this morning I am feeling the workouts. It could be fun bowling tonight because my legs and arms are both sore.

Have a good weekend. We have a fairly quiet one planned. Nothing planed for Saturday and we are going to watch UW stock auction on Sunday. Not planning on buying any sheep but who knows what will happen!

Take care!

Julie

Julie, congrats on your great bloodwork!

Sue, sorry that you are still sick, and that you had to put up with that rude and nosy woman.

Kathy, I haven't had any side effects yet from the Pennsaid, but my doctor has me on a lower dose of it; only half of what most people use at one time, so I am going to stick to that and be careful not to use to much of it.

Thanks everyone, Daddy is doing much better today - a little wore out after all that time at the hospital but at least he can walk steady today!

Shari - I read that even though that new med is skin applied it can still bother your stomach - are you having any problems with that? I hope not. I thought about asking my doctor about using it for me knee since I can't take oral nsaids because of blood thinner, but it says no studies have been done on whether or not it interacts with blood thinner. May have to get my doctor to let me experiment if it works well for you.

Julie - I'm so proud of you for getting such a good a1c! that is awesome that you have been undiagnosed! that is so rare.

Sue - I'm sorry you are not feeling well. good for you for putting that woman in her place. Some people are so obnoxious! I hope you find out what is wrong very soon and get better.

I got my workout in this morning at 7am - little later than usual but at least I got it done.

I also lost another pound! 2 more pounds to go till my first big goal of 350

Hi everyone! I have been so sick. 102 + fever everyday, off and on all day and all night. I went to the doctor and she said I had a slight UTI but nothing that would cause such a high fever especially for so long. It has been 6 days in a row now. She had me get a chest xray and a blood test, they said they would have the results on Tuesday.

There was a lady when I was getting my bloodwork done that saw my med-i-cal card, and practically yelled at me, "how did you get med-i-cal? How old are you anyways?" I told her I got cancer last year and they gave it to me right away. Shut her right up! She was indignant that I had med-i-cal and wasn't 65 years old, I guess:)

Kathy, I hope your dad is feeling better.

I got good news yesterday. Blood work came back and my A1C (blood sugar measurement) was 5.4. My doctor has now undiagnosed me with type 2 diabetes. I have gone for over two years with normal A1C without meds.

Today didn't start out well. We were having a thunder storm and as I was trying to get in my car and dumped my water bottle in my lap. So I was a little wet before I started my workout. It was a good workout then on to work, where things were a little frustrating. Now I am waiting til it is time to go my quilt guild meeting. It is storming again.

Take care everyone!

From what I read online, the reviews sounded good to me too.
I think maybe it might be helping a little, but since it's for inflammation, it's probably not going to go away all at once. I think if I give it a couple of weeks I will hopefully see a difference.

Kathy, I hope the transfusion helps your dad; I usually get 2 units, so his had to be quite low if they are giving him 3.

Thanks! Daddy has been in rough shape since then and had blood work this morning. Showed low so he had to have a transfusion. 3 units! He will be at the hospital till about 9 tonight.

I got my workout in at 6 am this morning so I am good to go for the day.

Julie - be careful on that treadmill!

Shari - I sure hope that new med works for you. I looked it up and it seems like some good med for joints.

Kathy, I am glad they got your dad taken care of. I went off my aspirin while I was going through my chemo.

Shari, I hope your new meds work!

I just got back from my walk. Hubby did chores so I could get my walk in outside. I find the treadmill boring, even when watching a movie. Plus our treadmill was acting up last time I walked. It didn't stop when I hit the stop button. Will need to get back on and try it out again.

Take care everyone!

Kathy, glad they got your dad's nosebleed stopped, that had to be scary!

Good news, my insurance covered my prescription. I got something called Pennsaid, it's a liquid and I am to apply just 4-5 drops at a time to the joints that hurt. I used a little of it this afternoon, but it's too soon to tell yet how well it will work.

Good Morning!

Had a wild night last night. Had to take Daddy to the ER for a bloody nose that just would not quit! They finally got it stopped at the hospital and told him to go off his daily aspirin as the chemo was making his platelets low. Luckily we were only there for 2 hours! Got home a little after midnight

Still got up at 6 and did my workout. I feel really crappy when I don't get my workout so I do my dangdest to get it in!

Hope every one else has a good day!

I had a good day starting with my boot camp class this am. It was a tough one for me. Then on to work. It seems like I didn't get much done. We had our kick off for the United Way campaign. I guess I won something but since I had left they pulled some elses name. Oh well!

Feeling a bit tired tonight. I did chores so hubby is cooking dinner. The sheep were jumping and playing around on the way to feeder, they were being really silly.

Take care everyone!

Shari I hope the new pain meds work and I hope the insurance pays for them

Daddy has been lucky so far in that the only pain he seems to have consistently is a headache. Tylenol usually controls that for him.

Today has been a good day. Took Daddy for a Neulasta shot today - they said it might keep him from having to have the Neupogen shot three days in a row every week. I hope so. I hope he does well with it.

Got my workout in early this morning and then got a walk in while waiting for Daddy to get his shot - love walking in the hospital - climate controlled and level!

Hope everyone's day has gone well

Had my chemo this morning; it went ok.

It was also time for my injections at the pain clinic, only I didn't get them today. They haven't helped much the last few times, so my doctor wants to see how I do without them. My pain pills help a little, but they don't help with the inflammation. I can't take NSAIDS such as Motrin or Aleve because of my stomach, so he wants me to try some prescription NSAID in a form that you apply to the skin. Right now, I am waiting to find out from my pharmacy if my insurance will cover it. If not, he gave me the name of a product I can order from a Canadian pharmacy.

Happy Monday everyone!

thank you Julie - I always feel good about myself once I get my workout in. I did mine today at 8 am. so I am done for the day except I hope to get a walk in later.

Daddy is doing pretty good today except that his feet hurt (he has the dangdest toenails you've ever seen) so I am taking him to the foot doctor to get them trimmed today (nothing I have will cut them - I tried!)

have a good day

Kathy good for you for doing your workout. I usually try to do my workout first thing in the morning, but it was raining out this am. I just got off the treadmill finally getting a short workout in.

I have had a nice day doing laundry and working on my quilts. I squared up a few blocks and am now working my signature blocks from quilt guild. I had material set aside to use for this project but cannot find it so I guess I need clean my cutting table to see if I can find it.

Have a good week everyone!

Take care.

Sue, if that goes on much longer I'd make an appointment with the doctor.

Kathy, I had to talk myself into working out today too; it's chilly and rainy, not exactly "motivational" weather.

Good Morning everyone

Shari - I'm glad you are feeling better

Julie - sounds like you are very busy right now - don't over do it!

Sue I've never had symptoms like that - I sure do you hope you feel better soon

~~~~~~~~
As for me....
Boy I didn't want to do my workout this morning! I was sitting at my computer and actually stood up to go lay on the couch - and instead talked myself into grabbing my workout chair! whhooo hooooo....little devil on my shoulder didn't win today!
Hi everyone! I am still sick, it's weird though, evreyday lately about the same time of day, I get a really high temperature and throw up (102%) then I take some advil and when I finally stop shivering, I go back to sleep. I feel crappy all night at work, but since the fever goes down after awhile, I have still been going in. I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this?
We had a busy day.
I started with a walk this morning I wore a long sleeve shirt and was still a little cool.
We then went in and I got my blood work done, We went to breakfast, stopped at the farmers market and then went grocery shopping.
Hubby had ordered some straw so we went and picked it up. We unloaded the truck but not sure where it is going in the barn so left the trailer loaded. We worked on planting grass seed around the barn. It is supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow.
Planning on taking it easy tomorrow and get some sewing time in.
Take care everyone!
Julie
Julie, that is great that you are doing so well with the diabetes.
Finally got rid of that nasty sinus headache. The weather has settled down a bit and that helps. Feels very fall-like here; a beautiful day.
Welcome back Dena.
I had a pretty good day. Started my day meeting my trainer. I have been having some issues with my shoulder so we spent time working on it and figuring out what motions hurt. She then gave me some exercises to do to strengthen those muscles.
Work went OK, I don;t feel I am making much progress on reducing the file of data sitting on my desk. Some times I think more data comes in then goes out and today was one of those days.
I saw my GP for diabetes check up. I have to go in for blood work tomorrow. She said if my A1C is below 5.5 she can undiagnos me because I have had normal blood sugars for more than a year without being on meds. I also got my flu shot.
Looking forward to a nice weekend.
Take care everyone!
Julie
Welcome back Dena. I know it's hard sometimes to accept help when you are use to being independent and doing for others. I have struggled with guilt over having to have family and friends help me with things I use to be able to do for myself, but they have reminded me that they want to do those things, and it makes them feel good to help.
I hope you feel better soon Sue; Kathy and Ida I am happy for your good news.
I have had this week off from chemo; struggling a little this week with not getting enough sleep and sinus headaches. The headaches are from all the changes in weather we have had this week. September is always a rough month for me with sinus headaches and allergies, but I will get through this.
I have plans to go to a movie later this afternoon with friends, so I am hoping my headache won't get any worse today.
Sue I hope you feel better soon - I hate colds! Here -take this virtual med - it will make you feel better ;)
Julie I hope you are having a good Friday!
Dena - I'm sorry you have had such a rough year. It is hard when you can't do what you've always done. I'm so glad you're here now and seem to be on the upswing
Well - I got Daddy to he chemo treatment today - that's it for this round - another round in 19 days. He is handling things pretty well. He is actually having one of his "good" spells right now. I cherish those because the bad spells are so bad.
I got my workout it in early this morning and a 40 min walk. I have also lost another pound. That puts me at 4 pounds to go to reach my summer goal - I just might make it!
Happy Friday the 13th
Snuzsuz, I know, my daughter and my husband & parents understand. As a matter of fact, my husband sometimes gets out of "trouble" I think, he will say something and I will say "you didn't tell me that" and he will say "yes I did, you just don't remember" - how do I know for sure?!? It gets funny around here. I hope it will get better, chemo every 2 months for 2 years, and at least once a year forever. But I'm here, I'm loving my husband, my children, my grandchildren and my parents. And they love me and put up with me - I have a full life!
Dena, I remember chemo brain too well. It really does mess with your mind. My kids thought I was losing it for awhile there and then I had them read an article about chemo brain, and what a relief that was for all of us. Now when I have a "senior moment" they tease me about chemo brain and it's been over a year since I had chemo:)
I've been back on Spark since April 2013, but it has taken me until now to be able to post anything. I lost my job in January because I couldn't remember how to do to do things that I had done for21 years (18 at one job, 3 at this last one - sister companies). Chemo brain and all the medication for other problems I have.
I was so stressed I could hardly breath for the first couple of months, I cleaned my house from top to bottom - earning my keep. I've only just started to relax, my wonderful husband from day one just told me to be a lady of leisure, we would be okay. But I've always taken care of myself and my family. Not the other way around.
Never fear shadows, they simply mean there's a light shining somewhere nearby.
Ida, so happy to hear it is not cancer! Hope your throat gets better soon:)
Shari, that's great that you make hats and towels for the AMC!
Kat, thank God it was NOT a heart attack!
Julie, that's great about your new case not being as heavy!
I have been sick these past few days with a cold, so I haven't been doing any job hunting. I'm feeling better, so I'll start again next week:)
I work all night for the next 4 nights which is great! For awhile now I have been lucky enough to get at least 3 days a week or sometimes 4!
I would like to thank every for all your prayers & get well wishes.
Today the DR called with good news & the results of the biopsy's. The good news was they were not cancer. Praise the Lord for that. I am still having some trouble with my throat even though he opened it up a little. I am still having food get caught as I swallow. I will be calling him next week on that.
Had a good day today. Did my 5K walk for the team I am on & finished up my 5th week. I also got 1.65 miles in.
It is nice to be home in my own home & not in a motel room. There is no place like home.
Thank you all again. emoticon
God is my Strength & Salvation.
PRAISE GOD always and he will take care of you,
