I thought about it but I wasn't ready to give it up. I had been depriving myself due to another challenge and with some minor health problems I was really mentally off. I will try again next year and continue to limit my soda and tea (I really don't drink that much).

I am new, but I want to join even though Lent is almost up. I already gave up candy when Lent started, but reading the notes below, I decided I wanted to ADD that I will give up soda, fast food, and any enticing (but unhealthy) foods that are brought into work.

Well got in my prayers for peace and set aside two cans of veggies to donate to the church. It seems we have quite a few families in need so will be giving my cans to them during Lent. I am in bed today - fighting the flu. DH shared his bugs with me it seems. I was hoping to be passed up for this round but no luck. Heavy chest, coughing, headache, neck ache - so much fun. I'm still alive and thank God for that - now if he will just banish this flu from my body...no exercise today - just not up to it.

So yesterday was a cheat day for me. I was about to have sweet tea but realized, nope I gave it up for lint. Then I went to starbucks to grade papers while my daughters were at Daisy's and at first I thought, hey, I can have honey in my tea when i was driving there. I so forgot about it and was priding myself that I didn't get the honey and realized I couldn't have it anyway. :) Now to make it for the next 30 something days! :)

My husband surprised me by saying he was giving up snacking. This means no more chips, pretzels or cookies emoticon . I am really concentrating on really cutting back Pepsi or soda pops. I'm not buying cartons of pop and only 2 liters when on sale. I am drinking teas and drinking 1 glass of milk a day to fill in.

I am in also. Being raised RC we generally 'gave up' something for Lent. However I believe it is better to 'take on' something that will benefit someone. I have already made a commitment to remove sweets - white foods - and fattening snacks for my health. So for each of the next 40 days I will donate a food item to a food pantry or to our church and start a daily prayer for peace when I get up each day. This way I feed my soul and feed the needy what we each need most.

I want to apologize for my earlier post I thought I was in a different team's topic. Crazy me. :) One of the fun things I am seeing in a couple of other teams is virtual walks. One of them is really detail and they tell you about the towns and states as we walk through them. In that one, we are walking I-80 from California to the East Coast. :)

I was thinking...

One of the other teams I am in set up a team goal to join for their March Challenge. Is there any way we could do the same thing? I know it would help me feel more accountable for my actions in this challenge... just a suggestion.

Wow, this could be a tough one. 40 days. I have been struggling just giving up sweets 5 days a week. :(

Hmm, I give up soda and sweet tea. I am mostly a water drinker but I enjoy the occasional soda or sweat tea. This could be hard. :(

My reward - a new bathing suit

I am also IN... I will give up candy, chips and soda for lent. I will also start a toning routine.

My reward would be not having jiggly arms and legs by Easter...

I am so IN. I was going to give up chocolate for Lent anyway. I think I'll expand that to sweets in general so that will include cake and ice cream (my toughies) regardless of the flavor. I am stating right now that sugar free jello will continue to be an allowable food as I do not view it as being an actual sweet. I'm tossing it in the basket that includes fruit which is probably going to be the stuff that I reach for when I need something sweet from tomorrow until Easter. As for the other stuff (fast food and junk foods like chips etc....) I don't eat fast food and can resist chips and the rest without too much trouble so saying that I am giving them up is moot. (It would kind of be like a kid saying they are giving up green vegetables...har, har!)

I will give up M&M's./cream filled donuts/buffets. I need to get all out of my life, anyway.

Reward myself with new nail polish.

I'm in....

I will:
Eat between 1500-1700 calories daily
Keep away from fast food completely.
No soda
Exercise at my workplace gym at least three times a week.

My reward(s):
If I get off of this plateau and start losing weight again, that will be reward enough.

During this 40 day challenge I plan to give up calories (I eat way too many), give up fast food (I don't eat it a lot but often enough), and give up not exercising.

So I will:
Eat between 1200-1500 calories
Don't eat any fast food (if I feel I have to, it will be a salad with no toppings)
Exercise more - start going to Curves again and exercising at home

My reward(s):
Get my hair cut/styled/maybe permed.
Pedicure

Today is Fat Tuesday, which is the day before Lent. Lent is a period of 40 day when in the Catholic and Lutheran religion (Maybe some others) people give up things. (There's more to it than that, but I didn't want to get into a religious/theological discussion.)So who would like to participate in a 40 day challenge? It would start tomorrow (Wednesday, March 9) and go through April 24.

You do not have to believe in Lent to do this, but it might be fun to have a 40 day challenge to see what we can give up and what rewards you would give yourself.
