The scale showed a 1 pound gain this morning, but all of my measurements are down! So things are progressing in the right direction.

Everyone is doing so well. Keep moving and tracking and we will get there!

According to the pedometer I have been wearing since last Friday, I have walked 20,670 steps or 8.1 miles this past week!! Oh, what a feeling!! emoticon

Congratulations on losing three pounds this week. Your comment about not expecting to lose so much after the seemingly struggle where the scales are concerned is not unusual. Many times it seems our body hits the "plateau" where no weight loss will be experienced and then all of a sudden we'll see a drop in pounds like you experienced.

It's during times like these that seeing changes in the tape measure can keep us from getting discouraged.

It's important during times of no weight loss on the scales that we press on; as you said, hang in there, it will happen!

I LOST THREE POUNDS THIS WEEK, I WAS NOT EXPECTING TO HAVE LOST SO MUCH AS THE LAST FEW WEEKS IT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A REAL STRUGGLE WERE THE SCALES ARE CONCERNED. BUT I AM STILL VERY MOTIVATED AND AM AS POSITIVE NOW AS I WAS AT THE BEGINNING OF JANUARY WHEN I CAME BACK AFTER A VERY LONG ABSENCE AWAY FROM SPARK. SO TO ALL WHO HAVE NOT LOST THIS WEEK HANG ON IN THERE IT WILL HAPPEN.

There are many of us who've lost weight prior to joining SparkPeople; however, I was told the starting weight on the weight ticker is supposed to be the weight we started at when we joined SparkPeople(However, make your previous weight loss known to others by noting it on your Spark Page.). Once you've posted your weight on the Start Page's Weigh-In and saved it, the weight ticker will automatically reflect the change. However, on this thread, all changes are manually done. You don't have to just report (or do)your weigh-in on Mondays; the day and frequency is up to you. As for asking questions, please don't be sorry for that; I guarantee you're asking is also helping someone else. (If it hadn't been for others who helped me when I was new to SparkPeople, I probably would have given up. The way that the members help, encourage, and support each other is one of the things that I like so much about SparkPeople. So, let the questions flow!)

Sorry you didn't see any weight loss this week. Try not to look at your journey as a trudge to success, but as a journey to a healthier lifestyle. Remember, we won't lose weight every week;and,that's okay. Getting to our goal weight is only part of the journey; once we've lost the pounds and are at our goal weight, the learning doesn't stop there. We'll not only have to learn how to maintain that weight loss, but we'll still be learning how to adjust things to make our lifestyle even better. Hang in there; you'll eventually see a drop in pounds. And, if you did (or didn't do) something that could have been the reason for not losing, then learn from it and press on!

JAK106:
Congratulations for your three pound loss this past week. I'm glad that logging your food intake is really working. Make sure you also add in exercise, drinking eight to twelve cups of water daily, and eight hours of sleep nightly into your mixture; doing all of these will help you. Weighing yourself on the scales is only one of the ways that we see weight loss; it is recommended that you measure yourself as well as tracking your weight.

Kat, I started on sparks Monday March 1st! Can I count my wt loss since I started tracking it on-line?, I was on another wt loss website similar to this one, someone on that website told me about sparks. On Aug 1st I was 162! I posted everyday (almost) since that time. If so can I change my wt loss ticker to reflect that? Does my wt loss ticker automaticaly change when I record my wt on Monday? or do I have to do it? Sorry about so may Q's! Thanks bunches for your help and adjusting my wt loss on this site! ~Maci~

For new members joining this thread (and as a reminder for the rest of us), I thought it might be a good idea to again mention the basics for tracking our weigh-ins:

1. Please post the current tally with each post.
2. All weight losses (added to tally) and gains (subtracted from tally) are done manually.
3. If this is your first time for posting here, you can count the total loss since joining SP.
4. If you catch an error, please correct it asap. So that someone else can check too, please note where the error is from. *
5. If someone asks a question, please respond if you have time; if you have a question and no one has responded, ask again.

Hey my friend,don't let that three pound gain discourage you. Since you've avoided the scale for three weeks, I can only guess you have some idea why you put on the pounds. Use this weight gain as an opportunity to learn. Look at the everything you've been eating and doing during this time period; after your examination, take two or three things that you could have done differently(and are willing to do in the future)and post that info on your refrigerator. Make them a goal. Don't expect to change everything at one time, just make changes here and there; those small changes will add up and you will see results. Be patient and keep looking forward!

I'm sure now that you're back on track, we'll be adding to our weight tally. Try to make your changes permanent ones; it will be better to take it a bit slower on the weight loss and keep it off.

WooHoo to your 2.5 weight loss on your first weigh-in! Congratulations!!!!! And, glad to read you're feeling better!

BACKYARDER1:
Sorry you have to report a gain this week; those temptations (the birthday leftovers) get us every time! As for the sore muscles, be sure you're warming up before you exercise and doing stretch exercises. Also, SP recommends that you give your muscles at least a 24-hour rest period; so, if your doing strength exercises daily, alternate them (upper one day, lower the next). If you're doing all this, perhaps the soreness is because you used some muscles that haven't gotten as much of a workout; hopefully, the soreness will be gone in a couple of days. Knowing your past posting record, I'm sure that gain will be off in no time.

I lost 2 1/2lbs first week .. i understand that some of it is water.. BUT MY STOMACH feels good..

I AMD GOING TO DO MMA BOXING

I am up one this week in spite of all my outdoor exercise but I expected it. I seemed to have acquired the left overs from a birthday party and I ate my fair share.I am also sore from exercise and I think that causes some swelling and weight gain...hmm ..am I making excuses...not really .Trying to make myself feel better! I was down one pound on Sat and was excited for weigh in day to come..I am totally confident that this new pound will be gone next Monday!!

Kat... thanks for the warm welcome. :) I am back on track (yea!!) and its in large part to me getting active on SP. I am LOL about 35 lbs. I'm down 35, but I was down 70... so that's why I was confused. Nevertheless, I'm gonna get the 35 I gained knocked back off... ninja-style! LOL

I always did well posting to group tally threads so I'm glad I found you.

I actually didn't report your weight gain; I reported the weight loss shown on your weight ticker (253-218=35).

I'm glad to read that you're ready to get back on track again. And, we're certainly glad to have you joining us on this thread! We're here to encourage, support, and even give the occassional boot to get someone motivated again.

Weigh-in day is any day you want. Most members pick a certain day and time and report their weigh-in results once a week; but, there are some who do it less frequently. Then again, there are some who weigh themselves more often and report a loss or gain when there's a change on the scale. (Remember, if you weigh yourself daily, your weight can fluctuate up to five pounds in either direction.)

As far as how often you want to visit this thread, let me encourage you to stop by on a daily basis.

Ladies:

I understand how I missed picking up LAYNIE2277's 1.2 pounds (Her post was made just before mine; I was probably still typing mine when hers was posted.); but, I did forget to add CATSAMS11's 2.2 pound loss. Then, to top it all, my addition was wrong(Don't say I didn't warn ya about my addition and subtraction!); therefore, the posted tally on my post yesterday was incorrect. So, let me try again. (Someone please check it!)
